        Interesting Facts
We took the City Sightseeing Bus Tour and throughly enjoyed it. It took us down to Cardiff Bay. Which was nice but really cold. I can imagine on a hot sunny day it would be amazing down there but it wasn’t quite like it yesterday. I’m glad we done it though as it was really interesting. The guide was really nice. Made little jokes and was really enjoyable.

Great way to see the city
I got a discount by showing my Castle ticket and was amazed to be told the ticket was valid for two days. This is great way to get around the city and you can hop on and off as much as you want. No live guide at this time of year but the free earphones were comfortable and the commentary very interesting. Drivers were very friendly and helpful and buses are about every half hour. Also you can use your ticket to get a discount on these buses in any other city which is a very nice bonus.

        As normal good
This provides a good opportunity for recon on the city to decided late where your rant to go. The in person host provide personal perspective on the sights, much better that the audio recording tot hey on some cities.

Get your ticket at say 11am and do tour all way round then get 10% of castle entry & use next day
We wanted to do this although to be fair there arent many stops but if you do like we did and got it at 11am (an hour after the first tour) and then get on the tour at the castle for example and go all the way around which takes about an hour, you here all the commentary (it was live commentary in the morning we noticed) then get off and go into the castle and show your ticket you get 10% off your castle entry ticket price, making your bus ticket that much more value for money. But if you also intend to go down to Cardiff Bay and have thought about catching the water taxi which runs from inside the park next to the castle then why not the next day for example use the bus tour again as transport as long as you use before 11am which is when we purchased ours ie we caught the first bus at 10am from the castle and got off at Cardiff Bay then spent a number of hours around there, going over the barrage and into the welsh assembly building, the pierhead building, the norwegian church etc. Then caught the water taxi back to Cardiff City centre later that day. This made the bus ticket much better value for money because we only paid £4 each for the water taxi one way instead of having to go both ways on it as used the hop on hop off bus as a means of transport as we had already been on the tour twice all the way around. Top Tip! Like I say we got on at 11am on the one day and did the full tour and it was very informative and enjoyable. Then used the ticket to get 10% off castle entry ticket, spent many hours in the castle. Came out and decided why not do the bus tour again as it was a lovely sunny afternoon before it finished for the day. It was the recorded commentary and most of the things that were pointed out were the same but we do find when a live commentary it can be a bit more personal and topical or if something is seen at the moment then it is pointed out to you. We then used it the next day at 10am when the first bus sets off as a means of getting to Cardiff Bay for free effectively and then only having to pay for the water taxi back.

        Great value for money
The tickets are valid for two whole days which we took full advantage of. The live guide, Nigel, was a well of knowledge and humour and made the tours very special. The various drivers we encountered were also very friendly and we enjoyed two great days travelling around Cardiff with them.

        Entertaining.
Not the longest of city tours I've been on but I still enjoyed it. The guide was entertaining and informative (didn't catch his name but it was Thursday 30th at 1pm). The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was I thought £13.50 was a little expensive.

Don’t - the worst value for money ever!
We take sight seeing bus tours everywhere we go. Usually a great introduction to what’s going on. In most cities, the tours pass lots of interesting places that you can then visit later. Not with this one. Basically you get to see where the museum / town hall / university is. Then you go down to the bay (Millennium Centre, Bay, Norwegian Church) Then a drive close to where Shirley Bassey grew up, past the Rigby Stadium and your back at the Castle. Worth maybe £6 possibly £7. But this is not a guided tour so much as a very short jaunt.

        Great tour! Well worth it!
We booked this tour to get an overview of what Cardiff was like. We booked online using a discount code of 10% off - google to find one! We parked at the ‘Mermaid Quay’ carpark where it costs around £5.50 for approx 3-4 hours. Much more reasonable than anywhere else! The bus stop is also just across the road from the carpark alongside Bill’s Restaurant. Our tour guide was excellent from start to finish- engaging, educational and funny. Thank you for a great few hours:)

        Hop along Cardiff
This is our fourth city we have viewed by bus and have found the audio guides to be very knowledgeable and a good way to get a good overview that is hard to get when you trying learn a new city’s routes and the Tom Tom is always trying to redirect you. The bus tickets from previous routes gets you a discount on your next bus tour and also a discount into Cardiff Castle.

One of the best hop on hop off tours I have been on. Very informative and a lot of amusing moments. Bus driver does a great job especially in the tight spaces. They cover a lot of ground and great to be able to get off anywhere you want to experience more.

Great way to cover the city and learn the history
Firstly yes does seem a little expensive our family ticket was I think £38.50 which seemed a lot as family on a tight budget but the kids did love the fact they could keep their ear phones. On boarding the bus we were greeted by the very friendly and helpful driver David. Then we climbed to the upper deck to take our seats. We boarded Cardiff Castle and did the complete circuit which took in and explain history of the National museum and surrounding building complex including university then Cardiff Bay with its amazing landmarks and ever changing history including BBC studios then back towards main town I think the entire journey was about hour and half with a continuous recorded commentary which was highly informative and entertaining throughout. A great way to see a great city

        Very informative and amusing
I have done quite a few of the tours in Britain and this one was among the best. You could go on and hop off the bus at all the famous landmarks in Cardiff. The guides/drivers on the buses were amazing they certainly knew their stuff and added lots of humour. This is a must do in Cardiff.

        Expensive!
Would have been better value for money if all the stops were available but on the day we visited most of the stops were unavailable due to road closures. The staff on the bus were lovely and very knowledgeable on our outward journey but on the return journey we were just given headphones to listen to a recording which was hard to hear due to a hen party on board!

Have been on several Hop on Hop off bus trips which have had many stops of interest. On this trip first stop was just round the corner which was a art museum . No one luckly got off as the next day when we walked there you have to booked on line to get in and book a time. The second stop was at the Bay where everyone got off , when we got back on bus it was about 15 mins to get back to beginning. For the price of £28 we thought it was absolute waste of money. Would not recommend this trip needs more stops and places of interest, or make the price a lot lot cheaper.

Thank you for the review and sorry to hear that you didn't feel this was good value for money. With the current situation surrounding Covid-19 we are unable to operate in quite the same way as we normally would. Many attractions have restricted capacity and therefore, pre-booking is required. This information is listed on the events section of our website, but we do recommend that customers make contact with the attraction directly as things are constantly changing. There are 11 stops in total, but 2 stops we are unable to access due to the fact that the local council have pedestrianised some of the the main roads within the centre to aid social distancing. This is a temporary arrangement until further notice. We do cover all the main attractions in Cardiff other than the Principality Stadium (access impossible due to Castle Street being closed to traffic at present) and Central Station (again due to the temporary road closure). Tickets are valid for 2 consecutive days which increases the ticket value. We hope despite the fact that you felt the tour was disappointing you still enjoyed Cardiff.

A good way of getting an overview of the main historic attractions of this city.
The driver was very pleasant and helpful.
Even a little shower didn’t damper the trip.
Would recommend doing the full loop first and then (as you have 24 hours validity) use the bus again if you want to get off at one of the stops.
Covid has inevitably affected what is open, but still a worthwhile journey.

Thank you for the 4* star review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour. Unfortunately Covid-19 has changed the landscape of how places can operate, or indeed open, but it is great to hear that this didn't dampen your spirits on the tour. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service and will pass on your positive comments to our local team in Cardiff.

Not the best Hop on Hop off we’ve done. One short route with just 12 stops but we enjoyed our tour nevertheless. It was raining but fortunately our bus had cover over the front seats, so we did the full circuit in the rain quite happily. The earphones worked and the commentary was clear. Our driver was great, keeping us informed re problems due to traffic.

The first bus left from Cardiff Castle at 10.00 a.m. but they finished around 4.30 pm due to winter timetable. We were advised that they run every 10 minutes and the whole tour takes about an hour. Booking online was easy and we got a senior discount as well as an online booking discount, so paid £11.40, which was pretty good.

An excellent way for visitors to see the main tourist attractions in Cardiff and Cardiff Bay. A ticket gives you unlimited trips over two days making it a cost effective way to get around. Our first trip had a guide who gave an interesting and entertaining commentary on the journey.

Bought 2 adult tickets for £14 each and literally got 3 stops out of it. We kept going to use the bus and the leaflet we were given had all the wrong times on it. I have emailed the company to complain but as yet no response at all - fabulous customer service.

I would like to add the driver for the bus we did manage to board when we purchased our tickets was really nice and showed us how to get to the museum and castle when we got off the bus.

This is a great value for money way to see the city. We were greeted by a friendly driver and the audio commentary was perfect, giving plenty of information about Cardiff, its history and development. Being 50 minutes (shorter than advertised due to no traffic) was ideal as we can now use the hop on hop off facility to get around, saving aching feet!

Definitely worthwhile if you want to learn about the city - who knew this was the site of the first £1 million cheque in 1907? Not me!

Thank you for the excellent 5* review. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour, finding our staff friendly and helpful and the commentary informative. The tour normally takes just under an hour but as you state, this can fluctuate based on the traffic. Great to hear that you could make use of the hop on and off element of your ticket too. There were 13 stops and buses came every 30 minutes. The leaflet explains all stops.

If wanting to do principality stadium tour, please check in advance if tour is on, especially after a concert was held as they usually cancel until stage etc is clear.

Would say something for everyone… arts, outdoor market, history with castor and national museum, high street, Cardiff Bay. I always do these city activities everywhere I go and I think people will enjoy this one too.

Thank you for the great 4* review. Cardiff is a great city with lots to do and appeals to all ages. The stadium tours are great but as you quite rightly highlight, when events are on such as concerts and rugby, these often do not run. We hope to welcome you back , or in one of our other cities, in the future.

Very good. All the bus drivers we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We learned a lot about the history of Cardiff via audio. We would highly recommend doing the bus tour and it allows you 10% off admission to the castle which was also worth doing. It's also worth doing the walk around the barrage and doing a boat trip around the bay.

We caught the first bus at 10.00 am outside the castle. We had it to ouselves with a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, Jerry. The driver was also very friendly.
We got off at the first stop to spend a couple of hours at the museum, and then got back on the same bus for the rest of the tour.

Absolutely brilliant if you want to find your way around the history of Cardiff. The commentary is well linked with the journey - hopefully something that is updated as and when needed as it’s obvious there is a lot of upgrading going on in the city at the moment.

The hop on/hop off facility is great to visit areas in different parts of the city.

And another really good thing is the ticket is valid for 2 days, not just 24 hours, so if you’re there for longer than a day, do make the most of it!
