- 1Take this tour designed by the author of “Haunted Oxford” the definitive guide to the most haunted locations in Oxford and led by a professional Guide. Be careful to arrive on time or they will have disappeared! Hear the spookiest tales from around the historic city of Oxford and learn about Oxford’s most well known ghosts. This tour is a truly spooky experience with “heart-stopping accounts of apparitions, manifestations and related supernatural phenomena” and stories of “first-hand encounters with ghouls and spirits.” Soak up the atmosphere on a misty dark night in Oxford, down winding and cobbled lanes, around the ancient colleges and past some of the oldest public houses in the UK, dating back nearly 900 years – (plenty of time to be haunted!).
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Footprints773830 contributionsAn excellent guideI toured with Helena, an excellent guide. Her extensive knowledge of the history and geography of Oxford and her understanding of the different social groups through the ages made for a stimulating couple of hours. I learned so much and Helena answered my many questions. Spending time with Helena and listening to her recommendations made my later solo explorations so much more meaningful. Highly recommended.Written February 5, 2025
- PatrickTraveller20 contributionsA fabulous knowledgeable tour and we could hear the guide at all times! An amazing informative guide from Lyca around some of the key sites featured in Morse, Lewis and Endeavour. Some fascinating facts and asides. I particularly liked the wearable RF technology to keep in contact and hear our guide at all times in the busy streets, especially with the Christmas markets on at this time. About 1.5 hours in length and easy meeting point at the Oxford Martyrs monument. I would definitely recommend this tour for fans of the TV series.Written January 27, 2025
- H7307DAtomb0 contributionsA great way to understand the history of Oxford, the city, the university and place!A tour packed full of history, insight and interesting anecdotes. We were a small group of five and had the freedom to ask questions and proceed at our own pace. Mori was great and even managed to secure a college visit when it looked like it wouldn't be possible on the day.Written January 26, 2025
- 962careys0 contributionsExploring Oxford with TomWe booked the 2 hour introductory guided tour to Oxford as this was our first time visiting this historical city, and we were so glad we did! Our guide, Tom was extremely knowledgeable, well spoken and shared so many interesting facts about Oxford we otherwise would have missed on our own. We highly recommend both the tour and Tom when visiting Oxford!Written January 20, 2025

- JohnOMalvern0 contributionsA great, informative tour.Despite the freezing weather it was a most enjoyable tour. Gabriel was friendly but also made sure we were safe and in addition responded very well to questions and queries. He had a great deal of interesting and relevant information which included things I didn't know from a previous tour and were not known to former Oxford university students. As well as seeing a great deal of one of the more famous colleges, the historical background to the colleges and history of the town and how the two impacted on the each other was clearly explained. The tour included many famous and significant parts of the city of Oxford as well as seeing where many of the colleges are. The current situation and wealth of the colleges, and recent well known alumni were also mentioned. I can heartily recommend this tour and my guide Gabriel. John.Written January 4, 2025

Even though it was a light summer evening this was a really good ghost tour. Our guide Rob was great and was very knowledgeable on the history of Oxford and his tales were interesting and at times chilling. Great to get off the beaten track and away from the crowds to explore parts of the city you wouldn't normally find.

Rob Walters was a fantastic and very knowledgeable tour guide. He took us to areas of Oxford which we were unaware of. As well as the ghost stories, we learnt about the history of Oxford and its famous buildings. Rob was very enthusiastic and passionate. Thank you Rob for a great tour, we loved it 😀 Would definitely recommend this tour with Rob!

Dear Ben,
Thank you for the wonderful tour you gave us yesterday. I learned a lot about the history and culture of the city. You were very knowledgeable and engaging.
However, I have some suggestions on how you could improve your tour for future guests. First, I think it would be nice if you could show more photos of the places and people you mentioned, such as the clothing they wore in the 1700s, the grave in the church, or the bishops. It would help us visualize the stories better and connect with them more. Second, I think you could make your tour more interesting by telling the stories in a more narrative way, rather than just stating facts. You could use more details, emotions, and suspense to make us feel like we are part of the history.
Other than that, I really enjoyed your tour, especially the dark and narrow streets and alleys. They gave me a sense of the atmosphere and mystery of the city.
Thank you again for your time and effort. I hope you find my feedback helpful and constructive.

I was concerned we'd made a mistake when we arrived at the meeting point. The guide was there but he seemed to lack people skills but on the walk he was very informative about the sights that we visited. As a tour about Oxford it was very good but the ghost part was a bit disappointing, it went along the lines of "there's a ghost here", no real story.
I didn't catch the guide's name but he certainly knew his stuff about Oxford
I'd recommend it but just to learn about the sights.

Had an blood curdling tour with the spooky guide Henry who took us on a journey through different ghosts and their creepy past in the famous location in central oxford. Henry was an amazing guide, with great delivery on stories and really had us engaged from start to finish. I couldnt sleep all night thinking about the clanking noises from the mercury hotel! Even for us from oxford is was an enjoyable experience, that i would love to do over again!

We were a nice-sized group, and our guide, Rob was extremely knowledgeable about Oxford history. His stories were interesting, however fairly tame given similar tours in other cities. A very enjoyable tour.

We were a small group so we were able to learn all the ghosty information from the ghost tour, but also got quite a bit of background on the university plus have all of our questions answered. I can't remember my tour guide's name, but she was a wealth of information.
