Great tour, fantastic guide!
Mar 2020
I love cars, and also going round factories - so this was right up my street!
Fascinating to see how modern logistics, manufacturing and I.T. combine to produce highly bespoke cars one after another.
Interesting too to consider the future of work (more robots are planned.....), the environment (mass production of consumer goods vs. possible solutions a la electric Mini) etc.
Finally a big thank you to Tristan (our tour guide) who was wonderfully enthusiastic and also very well informed.

Well worth the cost. A great visit mini owner or otherwise
What a great tour. All those robots. Such a clean place. You get a true picture of how the car is put together so it can be driven out at the end. Nice friendly staff. It was not his true name but he said to call him Richard. He was great. A head full of facts. This is one end of the scale as far as car production is concerned. If you want to see the other end book to go on the morgan factory tour in Malvern. The mini tour is good value for money and easy to find. I would get there an hour before the start time of the tour as there is a small museum/background display on site that is well worth a look at also. That part is free for anyone although personally I would not go out of my way to go and see it but if being there I had missed it then it would have been a mistake. There are age restrictions and you do have a bit of walking to do. We like the irony of being driven in a ‘mini’ bus made by Ford!

A little surprise for my mini loving wife
I booked this as a little surprise for my wife who is a massive mini fan, & the tour didn't disappoint. We would probably say the best 2hrs spent for the price.
Tour guide very knowledgeable & very passionate about BMW mini. Would highly recommend this tour to all mini & non mini fans. Takes about 2hrs so good shoes a must.

Interesting tour, guide Janice very knowledgeable, all staff get courteous. Easy parking well sign posted.
Price of your should be a little less expensive, as in essence it's a great P.R for the company and Mini brand
Shame there wasn't a cafe, only vending machines, I believe could have kept people there maybe to buy in the shop and given the company added revenue.
It's amazing how things have changed since I worked in the car industry in the seventies at MG. Abingdon.
Will go again but not in the near future see

We were taken on a tour of Mini by our lovely guide Tristan. He was absolutely great, had so much knowledge and was really entertaining. I'm not a car person and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It really was fascinating!

THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE

Our guide was approachable and shared just the right amount of information, without being over technical. He was very happy to answer questions. The tour is 2 hours on foot, so wear comfortable shoes. We were taken through the initial stages of the mini being built, involving a huge number of robots, fascinating to see them all working. In the second production plant we saw the components being fitted by skilled workers, and only 3 robots. You don't see the paint spraying process as it takes about 13 hours. A small museum on site, with toilets and tea/coffee facilities. I'd not recommend for young children, probably under 8ish, as you need to appreciate a little of the production process, and that the robots don't have arms, legs and eyes. Great to see the finished cars rolling off the production line at the end of the tour.

Awesome tour of the state of the art factory. We had an informative and in-depth tour of the making of the famed mini. Our tour guide Gabriela made sure we understood the working of the entire process.

Brilliant tour, incredible experience 😎👍

Having owned Two new generation minis and several original design ones too, with my next Cooper S about to be built, you can definitely call me a mini fan.
When I heard about the factory tour, I booked a place for myself and the wife (also a mini owner) immediately.
I'm pleased to say that the plant tour lived up to expectations, a thoroughly fascinating and amazing experience ... what a setup they have in Oxford.
I believe there's around 1200 robots of various sizes, welding, moving, measuring, transporting etc the pieces that make up these fantastic cars.
We were told by our guide that only a handful of cars per year are alike, because of the endless list of possibilities regarding specification, colour etc.
Also, this is the first car production line anywhere in the world that has incorporated the building of the electric version car right in with the 'normal' petrol and diesel versions .... considering the different build characteristics (chassis changes, large battery fitting etc) this is an incredible production achievement.
The tour includes a commentary and question answering, by a headset provided, so useful as it is a fairly noisy plant.
A new mini rolls off the line every 67 seconds over 24 hours, 5 days a week ....
Be prepared for a fair bit of walking and climbing stairs .... highly recommended.
No photography allowed by the way 📷
Didn't manage to see my new car being built unfortunately !!

wonderfully organised,Tristram our guide was both knowlegeable and professional.H e took pride in his role and we noted especially kind to a younger member of the group.Well worth a visit and so good to see the new electric car and new colours.Amazing robots too and all the staff had genuine smiles.
I felt the museum could be better and as one reviewer mentioned more interactive and have a model or 2 to look at and get in but overall fantastic

Took the tour today for my wifes birthday. Amazing. You see most aspects of building a Mini from start to finish. Janice?, the tour guide knew her stuff and answered all questions thrown at her. The sheer scale of the plant is mind blowing, with incredible automation.

Well worth 2 hours of your life.
