      River trip
Excellent trip which coincided with regatta so could really get a feel for what it was like to race. Lovely little boats.

      Relaxing cruise on the Thames
A relaxing 3 hour cruise exploring the River Thames from Folly Bridge to Godstow Lock. Beautiful scenery. Lovely picnic lunch on board. Wonderful guide, Paul, full of interesting information and so cheerful and helpful.

An extremely pleasant way to spend an afternoon
This was an extremely pleasant way to spend an afternoon. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and upon arrival we were able to wait in the Folly restaurant until the boat was ready for us to board. The captain of the boat, Paul, was very friendly and knowledgeable telling us about the local landmarks and answering any questions we posed. The picnic was superb and consisted of an individual quiche, potato salad, finger sandwiches, scones with jam, cream and strawberries. This was an enjoyable trip, and one that we will be sure to repeat.

      A delightful evening.
We joined the boat at the Folly Bridge in Oxford, where we were visiting. The were 12 passengers onboard and the boat was very comfortable. We all enjoyed a glass of Prosecco before sailing. The guide was nice and very knowledgeable. We sailed on the river for about an hour. We passed the Oxford Colleges boathouses, saw the crew teams practicing, and enjoyed the peaceful cruise. After returning to Folly Bridge, we enjoyed a three course dinner at the Folly Bridge Restaurant. The weather was so nice that we ate outside. The food and service were excellent. I only had to pay for drinks and a small supplement for the beef upgrade. Overall it was a delightful night with a nice cruise and a great dinner. Don’t miss this if you are visiting Oxford.

      Fantastic experience
We had a really great experience as a whole family on a private tour. The boat was beautiful and our skipper (Yestin) was fantastic with the children throughout, including when we unexpectedly hit a race, having had to pull in - he kept them engaged, taught them how to do different knots, among other exciting things. Overall, a fantastic experience delivered by a superb, friendly team!

      A lovely riverboat cruise experience
We had a brilliant tour today, at 4.30 it ended up just being me and my husband. The guy that took us on the tour (sorry didn't get his name) was great, he gave interesting facts and had quiet times, the perfect balance to take in the tour with stunning scenery and weather. Really recommended thank you

A great relaxing escape from bustling London
James our pilot and the whole staff at Folly were incredibly hospitable. We ended up being the only 2 on the boat and were met with a mix of interesting information as well as casual coversation. The cruise was serene and relaxing, with a nice tasty meal after. On recommendation, walked christchuch meadow after. Absolutely serene.

      Lovely experience
My husband booked this to do for my birthday. We usually plan a trip to Oxford each year so have done all the museums and usual touristy things now so were pleased to find something new to do. Paul our skipper, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He pointed out lots of interesting things to see along the river as we bobbed along. There was just two other groups on with us so it was very peaceful and relaxing. I would happily book again and do the longer trip or one with the afternoon tea

Relaxin River Cruise and Delicious Dinner with friendly staff.
Visiting Oxford for the first time. Took the river cruise before dinner. The weather this week is amazing (low 70s and sunny) so the river cruise was really nice. Our captain grew up in Oxford so he was knowledgable and was able to give us interesting local history and perspective. Dinner after was really lovely. Delicious food and really good wine pairing suggestions. Ate outside due to the weather (the tables are set up so one side is facing the sun, so if it's a sunny day bring sunglasses this time of year as the sun stays up a while which was fine with us). The staff is friendly and responsive. The view is really nice. Truly a magnificent experience.

      A Great Time
We did the Cruise and Dinner at the Folly Restaurant. The cruise was great fun. We cruised from the restaurant, down and back on the river, and were able to watch many of the different college rowing teams at practice. Dinner was excellent and the staff was very attentive. A great evening overall.

      Would recommend
Great river cruise, really enjoyed the fact that we were able to walk around and take pictures near the lock at the end of the river. Our guide had a lot of good anecdotes and was really pleasant! He even noticed I booked the cruise aiming to take some pictures and tried to point out the nicest photo areas of the cruise. We went on the cruise with our 2 yo daughter and she really enjoyed it as well, big boat, quite spacious.

If it was fine weather this review could have been perfect. However in rainy weather this boat is just not equipped to handle it, as with cold or wind.

We arrived at The Folly. We waited a very long time in the restaurant for the boat to be ready which felt like being held in order to buy drinks.

The afternoon tea itself was lovely. Unfortunately the plastic flaps that fold down at the sides did nothing to keep the wind and rain out. The poor couple at the front had to move and hardly touched their food as the driver couldn’t see if the front plastic was folded down.

The driver was charming and the food was great but I would never again risk £160 on chancing that the weather will stay fine.

We had a lovely 1.5hrs on this beautiful part pf the upper Thames sitting in wicker chairs with supplied wool blankets cruising along in a nostalgic but silent wooden launch exploring the main stream and back waters of the Cherwell and Oxford colleges.
The afternoon tea was very tasty, freshly prepared and well presented with more than ample for two people.
All credit to our skilful driver Alex avoiding the punts and her very informative historic narrative about things along the way, she made it so much more interesting.

We hired the boat for a private two hour trip with Afternoon Tea and a few jugs of Pimms. The boat was immaculate and the tables were very nicely laid out with full tea service. The food was presented nicely and tasted great.

Joe, our skipper was charming, polite and was happy to take photos of us all on the trip as well as giving us an insight into then history of Oxford's Riverbanks as we cruised along the Thames.

The planning and communications with the office staff was also first class.

We had the hottest weekend of 2022 (so far) so that does help in the enjoyment of being on a boat however I would still definitely recommend and hope to go back some time.

What a treat this was! Bacchanalia is a small river cruiser in period style, seating a maximum of 12 on cane seating. The engine was so quiet that all we heard was the water lapping against the boat.
We were lucky enough to be allocated prow seating as there were 3 of us. Everything for the afternoon tea was brought on board before we set off and placed on our tables.
Our pilot was a charming girl with plenty of local knowledge, who gave us an intro and then answered questions whenever we threw them at her.
The tea was delicious, especially the little scones which were served fresh and warm. We had great banter with the freshers on punts and admired the sculls as they glided by.
The tour was Y shaped, taking in the college boathouses on the Thames (Isis) and the views of Magdalen Tower and Christ Church through the trees on the Cherwell.
    Thoroughly recommend this trip.

Enjoyed the cruise with my parents and adult sons to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. The staff at The Folly were really friendly and helpful. No toilet on the boat so we all made use of the facilities at The Folly before boarding. The departure was prompt and the boat comfortably seated the passengers around their tables beautifully laid for afternoon tea. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious. There was plenty of tea and coffee and water available. Our Skipper, Paul, was very entertrtaining,
knowledgeable, helpful and considerate to his passengers. The cruise lasted 1hr 50mins as there was no lock keeper at Iffley so Paul had to do all the work there himself, which took time. The scenery was lovely and we even saw a turtle sunbathing on a log in the river! We were given cake boxes to take home anything we hadn't managed to eat during the trip. All in all a very tranquil and relaxing experience.

It was one of those last minute wishes…we so wanted to squeeze a cruise which wasn’t in the original itinerary. Although it was hard to access the team on phone or email, they were absolutely outstanding when we landed up in their Folly Bridge office. It was a fascinating experience altogether - a grand boat, a very friendly and well-informed skipper who talked us through interesting bites of history and anecdotes. If you are willing to pay a premium to get a private, covid-safe, sophisticated experience, then this is the one for you. Needless to say, the banks are as scenic as the river itself with Regatta rowers gliding past you and majestic white ducks quacking merrily all around.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We were the only passengers! The weather was unexpectedly kind though a bit chilly and our young skipper, Joe, was entertaining and informative. There was plenty to see as we went up the river and it was fun going through Iffley lock. The tea was delicious and there was plenty of it. I'd love to do it again!
I'd upload a photo but I'm not sure how to do it!!

We received a voucher as a gift for this cruise with afternoon tea for Christmas 2019, but due to Covid we'd had to postpone the bookings several times until now.
We purchased a carafe of wine from The Folly to take with us alongside the afternoon tea.
George was our host and was informative and amusing regarding the history and buildings along the river.
The afternoon tea was very nice, my husband was a little disappointed that there was no alternative to tea other than water - he'd have liked a coffee.
All in all a nice relaxing way to spend an hour and a half along the river.

What a delightful and beautiful cruise. There were 4 of us and we each had the same reaction - this was such a good idea and added so much to our stay in Oxford. The tea was beautifully served and was a substantial lunch for us as we chose the noonish cruise. The boat was comfortable and very clean. Our “captain” was humorous, informative and handled the boat very well. We would recommend this trip to others who enjoy lovely scenery and something different in getting to know a city. We’ll done.
