      Beautiful boat ride!
It was a peaceful boat ride, we had a knowledgable tour guide, and the scenery was beautiful. What more can you ask for! sfd

My husband had done the 50 minute cruise the previous week and throughly recommended it, so I was quite excited. I booked in and then sat for a while by the river , waiting to board. No one told us that the boarding was for the short cruise which I had booked. However, a couple got on who wanted a cruise to Abingdon, and they had to get off again, having missed their boat for Abingdon. I was hoping for an informative and entertaining commentary, but although the university boat houses, Iffley Lock and a pub were pointed out, there wasn’t the usual commentary. The course ran alongside ChristChurch meadows for a while. There were many moored narrow boats, some of which were unsightly wrecks. The scenery was pleasant but I was a bit disappointed overall. I would be interested in doing the Abingdon cruise sometime.

      Fantastic!
This was the perfect short river cruise just before dusk. The guide was friendly and had great stories to tell about the history of Oxford as we boated down the Thames. The weather was superb so we didn’t need the provided blankets to avoid a chill, but the fact they were provided was lovely! Definitely would recommend and definitely would do again.

      Afternoon Tea Cruise
We had a lovely cruise along the Thames in Oxford. Our Captain was a delightful young lady who has an excellent personality and knowledge about the Thames or Isis as it’s know locally. The afternoon tea was very nice with plenty to eat. One point to be aware of, no toilet!

      Excellent experience
This was a brilliant trip and I would highly recommend it. From the initial welcome to being onboard with Paul our captain it was relaxed and fun with a fantastic picnic lunch. We had a small selection of sandwiches, fresh quiches, potato salad and fresh, warm scones with strawberries and cream! As the Folly Bridge restaurant provides the food it was all fantastically fresh. We cruised out along the river to the Perch pub for a drinks/leg stretch/toilet stop and then, as we came through the lock a little earlier, we were able to see the Oxford university rowing club buildings! There are not many things I would say that I would do again but this I would - very relaxing few hours on the water, enjoyable company (all other guests were great!) and we got the see areas o Oxford that I would never have ventured to. The weather was cool but was dry, we could not have asked for better.

Lovely time on the Thames with friends
Louie the skipper was very friendly and provided info on the boats along the Thames with lovely cocktails. It was interesting to see the University’s boathouses and we managed to dodge the rain. It rained afterwards. Overall, a great 40 mins activity to spend with friends.

      Fabulous evening picnic cruise
Fabulous evening in late August cruising up the Isis. Captain Ash talked us through some of the history of the area and pointed out areas of interest. The picnic was delicious and we fitted in a short stop at the Perch for a swift refreshment 😀. It was a relaxing cruise in a beautiful setting - 3 hours passed very quickly!

      GREAT CRUISE
This boat cruise was a present to us from a relation. As it was a long distance from our home we made it a 2-day visit to enjoy the rest of Oxford too. Luckily for us the day was sunny and not too windy, unlike the days before and after. The tour was about 50 minutes long and that included a 10 minute walk around at Iffley Lock (a beautiful location) for photos. The skipper (Nick?) gave us a running commentary and a few jokes. It was an excellent little cruise, although it probably wouldn't be so pleasant if the weather was poor.

      Nice way to travel
We had been given this for our golden wedding anniversary and we had a really lovely afternoon, the weather was a little dodgy but it didn’t matter as the boat has a canopy, the picnic basket was delicious and the half way stop at the Perch was a very nice pub on the rivers edge, Paul was our skipper and he was very knowledgable and made the trip very enjoyable

      Great afternoon on the river
We had such an unusual and interesting afternoon drifting on the river with a rather nice cream tea. The river through Oxford is so pretty. The skipper was great and informative, overall excellent value for money

Staff at the folly restaurant were perfectly pleasant in checking us in and the boat driver was nice but they didn't really show us any sights. We did the 30 minute sightseeing trip and it was a relaxing and quick trip down the river but we didn't really see anything of interest. The driver didn't explain much about sights or history so although it was a pleasant trip, I wouldn't recommend it if you want to see lots of interesting buildings or learn about history of the city.

My wife and I took a belated cruise courtesy of a 2019 Christmas gift from my daughter. I expected a fifty minute trip with a bit of commentary thrown in, which would have been quite acceptable. However we were treated to a very entertaining morning by our "skipper", whose name I am ashamed to say I have forgotten - but you know who you are, and included lots of anecdotes as well as really informative facts about the buildings and countryside we passed. We also managed to berth for a few minutes at a very nice pub, before the return journey. I thoroughly recommend ORC to anyone and will definitely be doing it again.

Very safe and experienced river pilot . Continuous and entertaining commentary ,most educational with guests questions answered .the city landscape looks very different from the river especially across the college meadow . Could be different in inclement weather but the boat is undercover . Drinks can be taken onboard from the adjacent bar .

We hired a luxury private cruise on a rainy Sunday in October. Fortunately the boat had rain protection on the sides as well as a roof! There were also blankets thoughtfully provided. The cruise itself was a lovely experience for my father's 80th birthday - the driver (James) was charming and knowledgeable about the area and gave us just the right level of information to keep us interested without overloading us with facts. He was able to answer some of our more irrelevant questions! In return, we treated him to a singalong to the Sound of Music.

Thoroughly enjoyed our river cruise with Captain Nick. It was a very scenic and entertaining time exploring the Thames at Oxford. Especially appreciated the small more intimate nature of the boat and Nick's well informed take on the area and it's personalities.

We really enjoyed the trip. It was great to see bits of the city from the river and to hear stories about student life and rowing. We liked being in a smaller boat than some others on the river. We would recommend this.

We booked this in conjunction with the city open top bus company- which was definitely a cheaper way to do them both. We booked our bus tour at 2.30pm and its valid hop on and off for 24 hours and we booked the river cruise 5.40pm ~ perfect timing as not too busy in the river then. We had Henry as our “Captain” ! He was great and told us a few stories along the way and historical facts. He took us, to what was rumoured to be, the spot on the Thames where “Oxen used to cross the Ford “ in olden days!!! It is supposed to be where Oxford got its name from! The cruises leave and return to the Folly restaurant and bar. A lovely spot for a drink on the riverside. We had a glass of wine whilst we waited and was allowed to take this with us! A very pleasant cruise indeed.

We took a lovely cruise on the river with a delicious afternoon tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and I'm so glad that we did. The captain was a fount of knowledge and managed to find exactly the right balance between talking about the sights and stories of the river, and letting us talk among ourselves/savour the sights and sounds of the river. Very glad we did this and would do it again. (And as a top tip if you're thinking of booking, you can buy/bring your drinks from the bar at the Folly restaurant. If we'd known this we'd have turned up a little earlier and relaxed as the bar before the cruise! :-)

A lovely gentle and serene 50 minute trip along the Thames at Oxford. Accompanied by a guide who was very pleasant and struck an excellent balance between talking and explaining what was around and interesting facts and allowing the customers to take in what was all around them. Thoroughly enjoyable and would definitely recommend. There is Cafe and restaurant by the river which the company runs and all the staff were very courteous and sociable.
