This was a very relaxing way to spend an hour or so, seeing some of York's attractions; and a welcome rest after pounding the streets for several hours. The river front in York's centre has some interesting sights, though don't expect much of a view of York Minster(for that, walk the city walls) All the staff were very friendly and our captain was knowledgable about the area as you'd expect. (Beware some well tried and tested jokes!) The departure point was easy to find and booking was also easy through tripadvisor(they send you QR code to your phone) Go for the early cruise(10:30) if you want your choice of seating.

This was to be the one of the highlights of our 40th wedding anniversary break in York, having a lunchtime cruise on the River Ouse.
All staff were helpful and friendly and assisted us as my wife has mobility issues and uses a stroller.
We were first aboad and sat downstairs under cover knowing that most others would head upstairs onto the open deck.
The pilot introduced himself as Kris and went through all necessary information prior to departure from the King's Staith landing - this is the departure point anyone with mobility issues should use as it has a ramp down to the boat.
We departed on time and I'm sure that Kris's commentary was funny and informative however for the first 20 minutes we had a child from hell that screamed constantly as part of another group who also decided to stay downstairs. By the time the child decided to stop Kris was just starting his first turn so we'd missed most of the interesting stuff for that part of the cruise.
Staff felt sorry for us, knowing of my wife's mobility issues, and offered to move us to an area at the bow, outside the main covered cabin, and close the doors behind us. If it had been a wee bit warmer and less windy we would have taken up that offer.
I can confirm that the rest of the information was heard loud and clear and that Kris's funny and informative broadcast was given with maximum clarity and was unhurried.
I'd certainly book again in the future as it's a great way to relax and let the world, or York, go by for an hour.
The galley served drinks and snacks. the toilets were clean and tidy with one being suitable for persons with mobility issues.
We booked ours as part of the York Pass - issued by York Tourist Board and valid for one or two days.
As is the case with these cruises and many other sites to visit in York you are required to book in advance through the individual company involved in the scheme.

Took a 45minute River Ouse cruise on Sunday morning. Boat was very clean, staff were friendly and welcoming. Captain Kris, who was also the commentator, was very entertaining with his informative guide and tongue in cheek jokes. Hot and cold drinks and snacks available to buy onboard at very reasonable prices. Upper deck outside seating, a must on a sunny day, or indoor downstairs seating if chilly. Good way to spend 45 minutes and see York from a different angle.

Way overpriced for what you get . We saw no more than we had when we had walked the city. The cruise was recommended so I expected more but you charge £25 for two people for basically going ten minutes up river just past the city centre to 10 min back to start point then the same in the other direction that makes up your 45 minutes. If they charged £5 per person I'd say yes if you want a bit of a history lesson while relaxing 40 minutes otherwise seriously don't waste your money. Had I read the reviews I would have saved myself money. Spend it on something else. Sadly my first time in York and it's beautiful but tourist spots are very expensive for what they are and I've travelled the world .

It was easy to book, but they didn't allow prebooked priority access. We had to queue up behind people buying tickets, which meant we didn't get priority seats, despite paying in advance.
The river is lovely, it was fun sitting on top of the boat so we could see everything clearly, and the tour was a good amount of time, however we could barely understand the tour guide, so we were really just looking at everything. He also seemed to be talking about things that he could see ahead, so by the time we could see them, he was talking about something else.
There is an ice cream boat with a cow on the roof docked next to the cruise, selling delicious ice cream.

I enjoyed being on a boat with views of York on both sides of the river. I enjoyed the tone of voice of the commentator who was very clear. We found that there was not much information given. Though the tour is 45mn, a good chunk of this is spent on health and safety. Also the last 5mn were spent on reminding us that we can leave tips... There were a few good facts, but it felt like a lot more historical content could have been given. Nothing was mentioned about the Railway Museum as we went past it and we were quite curious about it. Time was spent telling us about the bar on the lower deck and when it was the last chance to buy a drink...which was wasted minutes in our opinion. The gentleman managing the queue should have told us all about Health & Safety and drinks instead of all this encroaching on the 45min. Overall, a pleasant experience but not memorable.

Great way to pass an hour. The captain doubled as the tour commentator and was very knowledgeable. He clearly enjoyed his work. The whole trip from boarding through to disembarking was professionally run, with great care taken with regards to social distancing. It was actually very nice to travel with the boat only at 3rd capacity.
Very relaxing and would recommend if you want to rest the weary legs. I'd recommend booking the tickets in advance (although you can pay as you board), as pre-booked ticket holders board first so you get pick of the seats!

We love taking visiting family and friends on the River Ouse cruise. It never disappoints and the commentary is always informative and fun. That said, a little more time spent on refreshing the commentary would be good. I was all ready to lead the cheers as we passed St Peter’s school, fully expecting a mention for former pupil Jonny Bairstow, in the month when he scored four centuries in five test match innings at more than a run a ball. Arguably, one of the most amazing cricketing achievements of all time. I’ll be listening out next time we’re on board.

This was a very educational, and sometimes funny, river cruise!

The captain of the boat is great and comes out with some funny jokes as you sail along the river.

The only issue I experienced was that the speakers on the boat were not that loud, so it was quite difficult to hear what the captain was saying. Especially when there were young screaming children on and the family sat behind us decided to have the loudest face time call ever!

Other than this, I would recommend going on one of these cruises if you have the time to do so.

I’ve lived in York, on and off, for about nine years, consider myself reasonably familiar with its principal landmarks, and don’t ever want to move again.

I’ve never transited the River Ouse before, and was delighted when a friend booked us tickets for a one hour round trip. The weather was overcast but pleasantly warm, which I suspect is a key factor. I’m not sure if I’d fancy traveling in heavy rain or snow.

There were about 60 passengers, and we sat upstairs, which might be inaccessible for some disabled users.

In my opinion, the crew were brilliant; enthusiastic, knowledgeable, good humoured, and helpful. They were a real asset to the Company.

There is a well stocked bar on board, and we enjoyed a cold glass of Prosecco at £4 each.

Overall, a great experience with interesting commentary. The cruise might be better suited to adults and young children, than teenagers, and the tranquility made for a relaxing afternoon break.

Highly recommended, even for York residents.
