- kenj5310 contributionsGreat place to visitThis is a must if you are in the area. My wife loves tea and loved the shop and also the Masterclass. London is the place to experience tea, go here.Written August 2, 2024
- deanosaur890 contributionsAble to try before you buyWhen we visited they had a number of teas ready to sample including a cold brew that was fizzy. They also can freshly steep any tea you would like to try before you buy. They have all kinds of loose leaf teas that are very good and they have the tea bags available too. They sell tins of loose leaf, boxes of tea bags and you can even mix and match tea bags starting at 3.75 pounds. Some of their loose leaf boxes are quite pricey and they get tea leaves from all over the world. They have some interactive displays about their tea masters and how they ethically source their tea. Twinings has a royal business license and has had one for over 300 years so you can see the royal emblem on the storefront outside. They also offer a masterclass for tea making but it has to be pre-booked.Written July 3, 2024
- marbenPa0 contributionsA pleasant and educational experienceMy son and I stopped in to purchase tea for my wife and daughter. Rose was very helpful and informative in assisting us to pick the right tea based on their tastes. She also provided us with a couple of tasting samples that helped explain the flavors and blends. I suggest taking extra time when visiting the store to learn and experience "the tea"Written June 18, 2024
- Journeyer780 contributionsMy Favorite Tea!I have been to Twinings on The Strand many times over the years when visiting London. This last visit was the best! The staff were so helpful and friendly. They brewed tea for me (in addition to the tea already available) so I could try before buying. Everyone was so nice. Twinings is my favorite brand of tea. The different blends are fantastic! The tea is so refreshing. Of course, Their Earl Grey is iconic and still my #1 favorite of all time. I ended up buying more than intended, but it was worth it!Written June 10, 2024
- Reginalady0 contributionsNot worth itAbsolutely embarrassing, thought I would be showing my friends a shop full of interesting products. Instead it was very very small, undistinguished and not worth going to. Go to Herrods and look at all the different products.Written March 6, 2024
- therichastill0 contributionsCuppa Tea Love?Twining's grand store is located in the Strand close to where Fleet Street begins. It does not have a very large shop front but it is quite an ornate, grand front. The store is not wide but it is long and as you enter there are shelves on either side with so many different varieties of teas to buy. There are some really nice presentation gift boxes. There are boxes of tea that you can buy of specific blends as well as varieties of blends in a box and some of these are very reasonably priced at £3.50 for 20 tea bags. The staff in the shop are available to assist if you need them and there are also displays on the walls about the history of the company and the current people in the organisation.Written February 24, 2024
- TheAngeloS0 contributionsQuick Visit to the FlagshipThe flagship Twinings store - if you are a tea lover, it is a must-visit. For the size of the store, the variety is huge. More than 10 people in the store and it is crowded. Unfortunately the tasting area was full when we were there but able to come away with some flavors we did not see back in the States.Written January 12, 2024
- AnotherSteph0 contributionsGreat experience and place to buy tea giftsCame in here to see the historic Twinings location and buy some gifts. The tea samples were delicious and all the staff were lovely. Special shoutout to your young Canadian employee (whose name I've forgotten) but she was great to talk to and gave some great tea recommendations.Written December 5, 2023
- christinasI5980FO0 contributionsTrash service don't goHad a horrible time, came before closing and was told nonsense about tasting teas when we were the only ones in store and there was 15 mins left till closing! I brought friends from America and the server told them to come back another day rather than just booking the kettle and serving another tea since we came all the way and the store was still open and EMPTY! This used to be my favorite shop I'll never come here again the service was terrible and would recommend the servers get retrained in customer service! Such a shame they're one of the only shops to offer a tasting of all their teas but I'd suggest not wasting your time the service was trash!Written November 23, 2023
- royv6470 contributionsA well set up establishmentWalking in the area we came across the very interesting narrow frontage tea shop. We went in for a look and saw all the different teas on display and the history notices explained the story behind some of them . Also we learnt about the founder Thomas Twining who set the business up in 1706 on this same site so been here a day or two. Always a good cup of tea TwiningsWritten October 10, 2023
- jenniferpJ7572ER0 contributionsDelightful little shopA delightful little shop with an abundance of tea varieties and tastings. The staff were helpful and polite. Would highly recommend this shop.Written August 19, 2023
- HINAWASEEM0 contributionsAn ode to Tea!Twinings Tea shop was established in 1706 by Thomas Twining. He purchased the Tom’s Coffeehouse behind this shop. He turned it into the quaintest historic shop in London. You can find it on Fleet Street at the Strand end. The first thing you will notice is the emblem above the door. It depicts a golden lion and two Chinese figures, which represent the start of the journey of tea. There is also a Royal Warrant erected on the facade of the building. This shop has had Royal patronage since Queen Victoria’s time. The first Royal Warrant was issued in 1837 and since then each and every British Monarch has given it the seal of approval. This shop has it’s own secret blends like the Earl Grey, Darjeeling and Lady Grey. It also offers special editions and a wellness range. Besides tea you can also purchase confectionery items in this shop with a stunning display. I really loved the charm, elegance and colonial feel of this historic shop.Written July 11, 2023
- 981suzanned0 contributionsLots of great, interesting flavorsWe made a stop here while visiting London and stocked up on all things tea. I think I pretty much got one of everything! They had so many unique sounding flavors and I really like the cold infusion ones that you put in cold water instead of hot. The shop is long and narrow which makes it a bit of a challenge to get out when it gets busy and you have multiple bags, but it was worth the stop!Written July 2, 2023
- 741victoriab0 contributionsCute little shopLiked the historical display and wish there was a little bit more! The types of tea you could choose were organized nicely, and there was a good variety of teas represented that you could taste.Written June 14, 2023
- Crazy_Jim_830 contributionsIf you like tea I supposeIt’s ok, just a shop full of tea stuff, unless you signed up for a class. Interesting history yo the place but we were done with it inside five minutes.Written January 2, 2023

Make sure you arrive on time so you don’t miss a minute of the interesting and informative chat about the history of tea drinking in Britain. Then you can enjoy getting down to the business of tasting different teas. Our host, Julia, was fun and knowledgeable. She was very happy to answer all our questions. Because there were only 8 people, I felt I was getting a very personal master class. The 2 hours flew by. I can’t recommend this 2 hour experience enough! It would make a super present for someone or treat yourself!

The Masterclass was fine, but worth maybe £20 instead of £45. You really don't get much for £45. Nothing to bring home with you. The class was mostly about the history of tea and did not really teach much about the differences in tea and how to appreciate them. The instructor was difficult to understand at times and did not provide much teaching beyond the slide show script.
The Twinings store itself is quite small. I know the location is historic, but they would do well to expand their "flagship" store as the face of the brand and provide more options for souvenir-type gifts.

The tea tasting was fun and very interesting; it included both a slide show about the history of tea, as well as the tea tasting activities! The woman running our session was great, as were all of the staff in the store itself. The tea tasting is in a very nice space located downstairs from the sales space, with comfy seating around a U-shaped bar.
If you are a tea lover, this is a great outing which I can highly recommend :)

An interesting & enjoyable session. Our teacher was entertaining & I learnt things I didn’t know about the history/ social history of tea. It was good to try different classes teas & their leaves. A world away from tea bags. A good overall ‘not much knowledge, experience to start with ’ person’s tea session. I will try different types now. Not much time was spent though on how to use tasting notes or what you might expect to taste from each type of tea but we were there for nearly 2 1/2 hours already as could ask questions

Three of us attended the 2 hour master class. We enjoyed the history of tea, all the tastings & shopping in the shop afterwards. Liam was a wonderful host & is incredibly knowledgeable & easy going. The other staff members in the store were friendly & helpful as well. The tasting itself was a full 2 hours & was most enjoyable with a slew of information. Thanks Liam 😀

The Tea Tasting Experience is Amazing!
Would recommend it to anyone! Our host Alessandra was the most passionate tea drinker I’ve ever met! I learnt so much and feel like my whole perspective on tea has been changed. Also great value for money for a 2 hr experience that flew by. Would recommend it to anyone, experienced or regular tea drinkers alike. A really unique and well thought out experience.

This was authentically one of the best things we did in London. The tea was great , the history was good, but the service and conversations were the best. It was a great way to beat the heat on a hot day. Yes, I was drinking hot tea, but the room was nice and cool with good vents.

A tea experience that will change your idea of tea. Our team expert( so sorry I forgot his name) was amazing. Passionate, informative and entertaining. We loved our experience trying and learning about new tea and the history of tea in a posh and comfortable setting. A must for anyone who drinks warm beverages.

Tea tasting was VERY informative on the history of teas. Our host was very knowledgeable and prepared a great assortment for tasting. The venue is adorable and comfortable, bar style. Great class to learn the basics of teas. Not focused on the commercialization of "afternoon tea" and that type of tea etiquette/culture. I'd compare it to understanding Tequila and how it started but not how to create a cocktail.
