Fantastic tour with an extremely knowledgeable and engaging guide. Becky had me and my teenage daughter totally invested in the stories of the working women of London’s East End and we enjoyed every minute. The time flew by. We were worried it would be too long for us, and we did appreciate the comfort stop in the middle, but the timing was spot on and great value for money. We were left feeling inspired and positive after this thought-provoking and sympathetic tour. Will definitely join another.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Becky who was totally engaging for the 2.5 hours we were with her. Becky obviously knows her subject so well and is passionate about women's history. We learnt so much and visited some wonderful sites in the East End which you could easily walk by and not appreciate fully without a guide, especially the roles women played in their stories. The tour felt Covid-19 safe and was the perfect way to spend our first visit to London for a while. We will definitely book another of the Women of London tours. Thank you!

The working women of the east end is a wonderful alternative look at London and it’s history. The tour was booked as a gift to my mum and we both had an amazing day. Learnt so many things about the rich history of London’s working class female heroes during the tour and would recommend to anyone. Becky is not only a great guide, but makes the tour fun and conversational. Her passion and knowledge on such a wide range of periods, issues and, most importantly, the women included in the tour, is what makes it such a great day out.

Genuinely couldn’t recommend it more!

Fantastic way to spend a couple of hours in London. Becky was super knowledgeable and told lots of brilliant, lesser told stories of women in the East End - we learnt SO much and really enjoyed ourselves. Lots to take away and be able to tell others when they come and visit us. Thank you so much! Definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed the tour & our guide Becky was fantastic. Although we knew the area quite well Becky took us to places we'd not seen before and told the stories of some amazing women. We will certainly book another tour soon!

Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable and clearly very passionate about the subject. The tour was mainly focused on the historical, but current events were woven in nicely to complement what we were shown. Our guide pointed out so many things that I never would have notice, even though they were right under out feet! I feel like I gained so much better of an understanding of London’s history from this tour.

I was lucky enough to have a one on one tour and loved the way the tour leader had prepared for the tour. As is acknowledged women’s roles in the past often were unrecognised and this tour attempts to rectify that by looking at a variety of women who had different roles in different eras of the east ends history. I thoroughly enjoyed the two+ hours, despite the heat of the afternoon.

Business
At the end of June, we held a company event which was a walking tour with ‘Women of London’. We learnt a lot about the history of our local area, seeing things we hadn’t seen before even if we had walked passed multiple times and came away having really enjoyed ourselves.

Our tour guide, Becky, was very informative and knowledgeable about the history of the East End, and it was lovely to see how enthusiastic and passionate she is about the history and content of the tour.

Becky pulled out all the stops and managed to tailor make the tour for us. She was able to change the starting point to just outside our offices, made sure we saw all the sights and finished at one of the main stations.

We would highly recommend this tour to other businesses as an event, and equally to any group of people wanting to know more about the history of the East End.

We have had some great feedback from our colleagues and we will definitely be looking to do more tours in the future with ‘Women of London’.

Thanks Charlotte,
My Working Women of the East End tour was interesting and informative, and made me think about the working conditions and social changes over the last 150 years.
I was less interested in he Jack the Ripper cases, but fully accept that any poor woman in the East End could be accused of being a prostitute, in the same way that women were accused of being witches in the past, and that women nowadays may be accused of 'asking for it' in rape cases.
So overall I'm so glad I took this tour, rather than looking at more of the buildings and tourist sites that I have seen before.
I wish you well with your business,
Amanda
