- 531elisabethp0 contributionsOutstanding experience and so much history to learnAmazing tour with extremely knowledgable guide. Comfortable transporation, well paced and friendly banter made for a perfect day. Highly recommend even for those who don't normally enjoy organized tours, this one is outstanding. Smaller group size made for a really enjoyable experience.Written March 19, 2025
- X3717VVbrittanyk0 contributionsBest Tour Ever!!I cannot recommend booking The English Bus more! Our tour guide, Nolh, was absolutely spectacular and you would be lucky to get him as your guide! Everything from pick up to drop off was so easy! He kept us informed every step of the way, and even gave us plenty of rest time during the long drives. The sites you get to see are spectacular, but having The English Bus as your guide makes it even better!! You won't regret booking this tour!! Oh... and the secret place was AMAZING!! Thank you Nohl!!Written March 16, 2025
- N1165ADvictoriar0 contributionsDelightful day trip, memories made.I had high hopes for this day trip to Stone Henge, Bath, and a secret location and they were exceeded. Nolh was an excellent guide, thoughtful and knowledgeable. He provided many laughs throughout the day as well. The trip was well planned, and the secret place was beyond beautiful. My history loving heart was singing a bit. :) The bus was comfortable, and I thought the interior quite beautiful as far as buses can be. I'll be back to England and will be sure to book again.Written March 16, 2025
- Compass166436062530 contributionsA Fun and Interesting Tour! The tour was fun! Our guide, Chris, was entertaining and knowledgeable. The coach was very comfortable and the group was small. I highly recommend The English Bus and I would take another tour with them.Written March 14, 2025
- Z190KNannk0 contributionsMagical! My 19 year old daughter and I had an amazing day with Nolh and our small group! Stonehenge was magical, Bath was perfect, and the Secret Place was SO amazing. Nolh included so many fun, funny, and informative elements into the day. We will never forget it. I keep using the term 'magical' but it truly was. Don't hesitate to book- I can't recommend it enough.Written March 13, 2025
- petereN6686LM0 contributionsGreat day in the countrysideMy wife and I had a great day with Andy during our visit to Stonehenge, Bath and the secret place. It was nice to get out of London for the day. It took us about an hour and a half to get to Stonehenge and then about 2 hours on our return. Might sound like a lot of traveling but we were very comfortable in the van and Andy provided a nice mix of information and quiet time so both trips were fine. We both enjoyed all three stops and highly recommend going if you have interest in these spots. The small group was the main selling point for us and am happy since we only had a total of 12. I believe the maximum is 16.Written March 11, 2025
- emilybmills0 contributionsGreat tour with a great guide!I cannot recommend this tour enough! Our guide, Andy, was phenomenal. He was really knowledgeable about Stonehenge and Bath, and about London as well. And the secret spot was such a fun addition to the tour. Again, highly recommend!Written March 6, 2025
- Y336WVrachelc0 contributionsStonehenge, Bath, and ‘Secret Place’ TourReally enjoyed the tour! They did an excellent job of managing time wherein you get to see a variety of places but still have enough time to see the main sights. Our tour guides, Lucy and Nolh, were positively excellent as well! They were both extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and catered the tour to be personalized for the people in our group. Would definitely recommend!Written February 17, 2025
- nicholaswY6456MJ0 contributionsGreat day trip with Jon and the English BusWe thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Stonehenge and Bath with the English Bus. Our guide, Jon, was entertaining and informative. He struck a good balance between telling us about our destinations and England generally and allowing for quiet time during the drive. There was adequate time to explore Stonehenge and the museum cafe is actually quite good, which made for an easy lunch. It would take a couple days to explore Bath fully, but Jon did a good job of giving us as much time as possible within the limitations of a day trip. The final stop at the secret place was a great way to end the trip. If you're in London for a few days and want to see something outside the city, we would highly recommend this tour.Written February 15, 2025
- Wei-Tzu L0 contributionsFantastic JourneyIt was awesome. Tony the driver and guide gave professional guide and tour along the way. Before going on this trip, many of my colleagues didn't give good reactions on going to Stonehenge; however, with a professional guide and a small tour, so feeling been cared and filled by the history of every where we go was fantastic. After joining this small group tour, I fell in love in taking small group tour now. Really recommend to join. Thank you so much for making my trip so wonderful.Written February 11, 2025
- gihansas0 contributionsCotswolds, Stratford and Oxford tourWe had Cara as a tour guide and she was absolutely lovely. She knew so much about the history of the places that we went to and personalised the experience for all of us. Doing a tour in a small group was so lovely as we were able to get to know the other tour guests and we were able to take our time and enjoy the tour. Cara took great care of all of us and her bubbly personality was a big reason why we all enjoyed this tour so much. We would definitely book with this tour company again in the future.Written January 27, 2025
- Parker E0 contributionsBook with the English Bus!We booked this tour looking for something more than we would find on a standard tour bus… and we got it! Taking a smaller van allowed us to see so much more than we would have in a larger tour bus. By far the highlight of our vacation. Andy was a terrific guide who was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. All of the stops were enjoyable and we had plenty of time at each one to see/do everything we wanted. We will be sure to book with the English Bus again on our next trip!Written January 20, 2025
- mylawyer20180 contributionsGreat trip, best guide everThis was a good tour of several beautiful and historic locations that we have always wanted to see. Candidly though, Cara, our tour guide, was the star of this show. Her genuine and deep love of both her job and history made this one of our most enjoyable day trips. Her walking tour of Oxford was really fun. I realize you can’t control who guides your tour, but I would still ask for Cara. Thanks girl, you were a blast!Written January 15, 2025
- norabV7715FB0 contributionsStonehenge, Bath and a Secret Place day tourThank you Chris and Nohl for an amazing time in Stonehenge, Bath, and a Secret Place. The tour was customized to the personality of the group, and these two fit right in immediately with our travelers. This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for many of us, and we came away with treasured memories. I highly recommend The English Bus for tours! 10 stars!Written January 11, 2025
- shadowinthedarkness0 contributionsThe Winter Solstice at StonehengeI took the English Bus Tour from London to Stonehenge for the Winter Solstice. Because it was about a two-hour drive, pickup times were early. About halfway through the trip, we made a short stop along the highway for refreshments. Cara and Jon, our guides, were enthusiastic and good-natured and enjoyed their jobs. They had background knowledge of various places along the way, including much of the architectural history in London, and they fielded some off-beat questions. We arrived in plenty of time to “get to the stones’ before sunrise, with some history of the area provided along the way. Flashlights were provided when we arrived. Snacks and bottled water, and another coffee stop on the return trip were provided. Well worth the experience.Written January 3, 2025

Best tour we had during our entire two week vacation in the UK. Our guide and driver was Cara and she was fantastic! Great personality and lots of wonderful information about London and all the spots we visited on our tour. We were able to buy tickets in advance for entrance to the Roman Bath museum and we arrived in Bath right on time and were able to take our time in the museum and also participate in Cara's short tour of the center of Bath. Highly recommended!

Great day with a great tour company! Booked a tour recently with the English Bus and os glad I did! I wanted to go to both Cotswolds and Stonehenge on a tour so luckily they have one that includes those two sites as well as Bath. Jen and Chris were very easy to communicate with the day before- an email was sent out with cell phone numbers in case you needed to reach Chris, who was the guide for our tour. The day of the tour there was a strike by the Tube workers in London and Chris was very helpful with navigating this. He is quite entertaining and kept us laughing throughout the long day. It was really nice being on a small van because you get a more personalized experience. I've wanted to go to Stonehenge for a long time and we spent 1.5 hours which is longer than some of the other companies, and that was great. On the way back Chris dropped us off close to our hotels or in the neighborhood which was helpful. They are a bit more expensive because they take a smaller group but it was so worth it since they are a small family business and really care about you enjoying the day. The tea cakes were also a nice touch. Thanks Chris and the English Bus!

After 34 plus years of teaching scores of art appreciation classes, Stonehenge was on my must-see list. The English Bus tour was the perfect choice for an adventure out of London across the Salisbury plain. We met Lucy at the small bus by the London Eye. Her warm welcome immediately set the tone for the perfect day ahead. We learned that she was a former archaeologist with a passion for history. Her exceptional storytelling skills brought us stimulating insights about London, Stonehenge, Bath, and the Cotswold countryside. She made this retired art professor and gallery director wish all of my students could have toured these places with her. I highly recommend this small family run tour business and Lucy. You won’t find a better option and by the end of the day you will feel like you have a new lifelong friend.

We had such a great experience. This tour helped us access sites such as the Cotswolds and Stonehenge much more easily, comfortably, and informatively than if we had tried to visit on our own in one day with public transportation. Our tour guide was Andrew (not the same guide as Andy whom we haven't met). I noticed how Andrew demonstrated caring throughout the day that everyone felt comfortable, accommodated, and unrushed, while still keeping the tour progressing on schedule. He invited everyone to introduce themselves during the drive, and I was impressed how he was able to learn everyone's names and carry on conversations while skillfully concentrating on his driving too. He helped us feel comfortable engaging in conversation, so we got the privilege of talking with him and asking questions throughout the hours of driving which really added to our overall cultural experience. I loved all the places we were able to see too and would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see them.

What a wonderful way to spend a day! Taking in one of the popular Cotswold villages (Castle Combe), getting to see the beauty of Bath, and finishing off with an enlightening visit to Stonehenge. Our guide, Johnny, was truly an expert on Stonehenge and able to share information that we would never have found on the Internet. He was witty and funny and very kind. I highly recommend the small, intimate style of traveling on The English Bus as opposed to the tour-bus style day trips. It affords a better opportunity to get to know people around you, have good conversations with your guide, as well as stay on schedule. Bravo, The English Bus - and thank you for giving us a day we could’ve never accomplished on our own.

Hi Jen,
Thank you so much for your wonderfully kind review, and I'm glad you had an amazing day with us.
Johny is indeed highly knowledgeable about Stonehenge, and of course the other places that we visit - and his unique style is captivating. We are very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The English Bus.
We wholeheartedly agree that small group travel is the best way to go - less time waiting around for everyone, and more time out and about seeing the sights, and more attention from the guide too.
Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back one day for another tour with The English Bus - check our website for all of our offerings.
Many thanks,
Jen

Absolutely the BEST tour we have done!! The small MBZ tour bus was very comfortable, and has dual charging ports at each seat, glass roof and huge windows, and great A/C that is controlled for each seat.
ANDY was our Guide, and he is fabulous. He shared all kinds of interesting facts and information, but didn’t over-talk as some guides do. Andy is also extremely considerate and makes sure all of his group are comfortable, and have their needs met. He also made some slight deviations to the schedule based on our feedback.
I also was afraid that there was too much time at Stonehenge, and not enough time in Bath and Cotswolds, but it ended up the time allotted for each of the the locations was perfect! Each location was much more amazing than we expected, as we aren’t the type to enjoy tours that seem touristy. Lots of great shopping and cafes all over Bath as well!
Highly recommend traveling on one of The English Bus tours with Andy!!

Six of us across three generations took The English Bus tour to Stonehenge, Bath and the Cotswolds. Cara, our driver and guide was great. We were on a small 16 passenger coach that got around on the smaller roads and lanes just fine. Cara was thoughtful, patient and kind. She gave us a lot of information about London as we left the city and then picked up the guided tour as we approached Stonehenge. She was clear about where and when to meet at every stop. I felt like we had adequate time at each of the stops. It felt like the tour just went deeper and deeper into the countryside. The trip from Bath to Castle Combe in the Cotswolds was on the back roads and we had some great views of the excellent English countryside. We were back at our pick up point very close to the promised eleven hours. Nice job Cara!

What a great tour! I’ve had similar tours in other countries with multiple locations that feel rushed but this one was perfect. Tony was our guide and we went to Stonehenge, Bath and the Cotswolds. We had just the right amount of time at each place and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We liked having a smaller bus that was quite comfortable and had panoramic windows and roof. We also appreciated the drop off at our hotel. The only thing I would recommend is WiFi. That would make this tour absolutely perfect. In any event, Tony was absolutely amazing and informative and the tour exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

Great day tour with the English bus - well worth having Tony the guide drive us and take us along for a day adventure to Stone Henge and bath and a surprise Cotswold village. Lovely to have a smaller group to travel with in a brand new beautiful luxury bus with tons of window exposure! Stone henge was very crowded but all went well! Have to see that once in a life time!! The pasties at the cafe were delicious for a quick nutritious snack to follow. We chose to tour the Roman Baths in Bath and it was FANTASTIC to get a feel for how the Roman’s actually carried out this routine in their lives! It’s well worth the extra tour! We also stopped at the suggested Cornish pasty shop and the cider shop! Both were delicious additions to the afternoon! Our last stop was at Castlecomb - a small Cotswold village that definitely could have been a MurderMystery/ Miss Marple setting! Very cute! And a worthwhile short stop. Then back to London and Tony dropped many of us off on his way back to town! He was very informative and interesting to listen to- I highly recommend!

If you're researching and looking for the BEST small group bus tour company, this is it! The consistent string of 5 star reviews is well earned! I've taken many "small bus" tours in several countries and this one was just outstanding. It's a small company that gives you very personalized service from start to finish. We took the Cotswolds Village, Stonehenge and Bath tour with Tony as our guide. Tony did a wonderful job and provided lots of interesting bits of information as we traveled along. He provided us with stress free pace during what is a full day of touring. I especially enjoyed strolling the beautiful little main street in the Cotswolds Village of Castle Combe. I would DEFINITELY recommend The English Bus to everyone!

Is there time to get off the bus and walk around Castle Combe?
Written September 6, 2022
Yes, we had 30 minutes in the village. More than enough time to explore the village, the church, the cemetery and to have a pint at the pub.

May I go on the cancellation list for June 30 please? I'm a single traveller. Thank you.

In the details section for what is excluded in this tour, it states "Entry/Admission - The English Bus". What does that mean? Isn't The English Bus part of the tour?
Written June 9, 2022
Like Jeffrey L.'s question above, what is the additional cost of this trip if the English Bus is not included? Why isn't that included in the cost of the trip?
Written June 8, 2022
How long are you on the Cotswold. Do you have time to walk around?
Written May 28, 2022
If the English bus is not included in the cost, and by what I’ve seen on the the English bus’s website the cost per is £114 ($150), does that mean the cost for one adult is $300? (Not including the cost of Stonehenge).

Hello!
Thanks for getting in touch - apologies for the slightly delayed response - TripAdvisor doesn't notify us of questions here - for a same day response please contact us through our website.
This tour runs between April and October - we don't operate the tour in the winter months due to limited daylight hours. We do, however, operate our Stonehenge, Bath and Secret Place small group tour throughout the year - and you do get to pass through the southern Cotswolds on this tour, and we will see a number of small and beautiful villages on route.
I hope this helps - anything else we can assist with please contact us directly.
Many thanks,
