- Timothy C0 contributionsTour & Street Art Workshop - Can't Say Enough Good About This TourI originally thought this tour would appeal most to the teens in our party. I had no idea how much I was going to learn and how my perspective on Street Art would be changed. Not just me, actually. My wife has the same take away from this tour. Not only did the tour put me through a mental 180, I saw some of the most amazing street art that I would no way have encountered on my own. Don't hesitate to book this tour - you will get out of your comfort zone and you will thank yourself !!! ( ...and, the teens loved it !!!...)Written September 8, 2024
- F1347LLjanem0 contributionsFabulous tour! What a tour! Eva was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the art she showed us. The tour was 2 hours and I feel like we all learned so much about street art and graffiti. I highly recommend taking this tour. We all loved it!Written September 3, 2024
- discerningtravlr0 contributionsFantastic insider information on this London Street Art tour! This tour was everything I wanted and more. Ava Joy, our tour guide, is super knowledgeable as a street artist herself. Her passion for the subject was apparent as she explained the history of street art as well as current trends and answered all our questions like a pro. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in street art.Written September 3, 2024
- kimstravels880 contributionsGreat experienceThe tour was great, we got to see lots of great street art and Natalie (our tour guide) was really knowledgable and engaging and made an effort with everybody on the tour! We will definitely do another tour with Alternative London!Written August 28, 2024

- Seaside117160089350 contributionsGreat tour! This was an excellent tour! We saw beautiful art and learned a great deal about the history of the neighborhood. Our tour guide, Natalie, was really nice and also very knowledgeable about all of the artists and the artistic techniques she told us about. Highly recommended!Written August 7, 2024
- Rachel D0 contributionsHighly recommendedExcellent tour in a small 16 people group. We already knew the area from multiple previous visits on our own, but the tour added so much to our understanding of the neighbourhood, its history, its inhabitants and the art all around. Natalie was our guide, she is a passionate , interesting and interested red-headed local artist. As well as being very knowledgeable about the area , street art, graphiti and various artists, she was able to show us little art gems we would never have found on our own and tell funny stories about them. Natalie formed immediate bonding with all the members of the group, finding common interest and engaging all enthusiastically. Highly recommended!Written August 5, 2024
- larryf1970 contributionsA Great Two HoursFor my wife and I, this was our 8th street art tour in five different cities. Ava was over-the-top fantastic in all material respects…. Clearly one of our top two guides. She knows the art and the artists. She was thematic, showing us the difference between graffiti and street art. Helping us be more discriminating, she told us not only what she liked but why. She explained with lots of examples the major types of street art and graffiti. Her voice carries and she was very focused on our safety. She not only knows her art but her turf; she pointed out quite a number of pieces that were less than two weeks old. Near the regular end, she polled us to see if we wanted another fifteen minutes; the vote was unanimous. We all wanted more. That says it all.Written August 2, 2024

- 49sunshine0 contributionsInteresting walk for all agesA two hour walk on a very hot day when you are over 70 is not everybody’s idea of fun but you would be wrong. Natalie, our guide, made the history of the area and the details of the street art come alive. She lives locally and is a textiles artist and has a real passion that contributed to a most enjoyable morning which kept members of our group, young and old, interested . Thank you NatalieWritten July 29, 2024

Amazing. Don't miss it. Gary was fantastic, and very welcoming. The tour is very interesting even if you don't know much about the East end of London or street art. I learnt so much about not only street art techniques but the history of this community which Gary cares so much about.
It was a freezing and miserable when I did it but I completely forgot about the cold because it was so interesting. You will see amazing creativity and techniques and I highly recommend the taste workshop with the spray cans..super relaxing. All of us enjoyed playing with colours and shapes.
One of the best tours I have ever done in London and I've been living here for 25 years. I highly recommend it and it would also be my first choice for team building activities. I will do it again with friends and family.
Really brilliant!

This was a really fun experience. Josh is a great communicator - we found ourselves sharing his enthusiasm and absorbing his knowledge, and were surprised and sad when the walk was over. Now our eyes are very much more open to what we see on surfaces around us. The workshop was incredibly well organised - everyone had a real chance to enjoy the spray paints and be creative. We left on a high and would do it again in a heartbeat. (I took two ten year olds and it was perfect for them, as well as for adults.)

This was an outstanding experience. The guide was knowledgeable, thorough, very personable, and keen to share with us his love for street art. Beginning with a brief but important discussion about what constitutes street art, and how it is defined by its being ephemeral, the tour showed us a wealth of street artists’ work and styles. But the tour went far beyond art appreciation. We learned about the East End’s history, the peoples and cultures that made it home, and the current socio-economic trends shaping both the area and street art more broadly. My teenage son was fascinated. The workshop at the end brought it all together. I would say that everyone visiting London should take the tour.

Great guided walk around an interesting part of London. A very knowledgeable guy, Gary, gives you an insight to the field of street art and more! He's informative, entertaining, engaging and reads his group wery well.
You will see pretty remarkable pieces of art that might not all be there tomorrow!
The group has a fair number of people and you can hear all his comments during the walk.
In the workshop he is very encouraging and gives good and accurate instructions.
All is safe and we had great fun!
On the web it says, that a piece of card for your artwork is included, but it wasn't 😶 You can buy a canvas at the workshop which is also fine

Josh was a very experienced and knowledgeable tour guide. It was interesting to listen to his perspective on street art and the different types of art that can be found in the streets. I loved learning about the etiquette involved in the way street artists treat each other to show respect...or disrespect. We walked for about an hour and a half and saw countless works of street art. Some were still in the process of being made as we were walking by. After the walking tour there was the option to create your own artwork with spray paint. Very well done and thank you for giving me a better understanding of this art form.

Alice was a fantastic tour guide. It was so great to learn about the history of the street art and then go on to spray paint myself. She went above and beyond by asking me where I was headed next and recommending more street art in the area. Highly recommend this tour!

4 of us had a great time on this walk.
Natalie was our guide and she gave us a great insight into the world of street art, graffiti, tags & slaps.
I’ve done other walks around Spittlefields & Brick Lane which have also covered street art, but this one was much more interesting.
There was more insight into the techniques and materials different artists use and the messages & drivers behind their art. I also found the discussions around the motivation, politics & legalities interesting.
I loved that we got to go back to the workshop and use spray cans & stencils afterwards!

We went on the Alternative Street Art Walking tour - had a great time! Our guide had some great stories about the art and also some recommendations for other things to do around Brick Lane. Tour is a few hours without stops, so definitely bring some water if you get thirsty.

I learned so much! Josh was so knowledgeable and passionate about the street art community. We were not originally scheduled for the workshop, but we were able to add it onto our experience- after hearing about the history and culture of street art, we wanted to try it out!

Do you offer any tours on the weekends?

This tour and paint experience sounds so cool! Are there opportunities to rest one's feet during the walking tour? My dad has foot problems and can't walk 2 hours continuously.
Written April 4, 2019
There are pauses to look at the art so it's definitely not continuous. But there is a lot of walking and no where to sit. I would definitely reach out to the company directly to ask. Or see if they can do something custom. There's plenty to see within small a small radius.
Written April 5, 2019
Yes you do.
We made stencils of our art and were able to spray quite a few variations of them. I think I managed to squeeze in about four!
It was a great workshop. Only downside was it absolutely bucketed down on the day so was really cold and wet for working outside but other than that, absolutely loved it!
