- 80sianp0 contributionsGreat museum!Came to this museum on a Saturday afternoon. This museum is interesting and nice to see how brands as we know them today and on how they have evolved. I recommend and the staff on the desk are friendly and helpful :)Written November 20, 2024
- U8982CDkarenm0 contributionsGreat museum, well laid out with amazing items taking you from Victorian time to modern dayThis really is a nostalgic wander down memory lane. For those older folks, it's a great laugh remembering what you had & didn't have. Youngster probably won't believe what the oldies lived with. The 'Time Tunnel's is a passage way filled with memorabilia from the past. Extremely well laid out displays, track the passage from Victorian time with food, clothes, household items, toys & historical events. You work your way through to modern times. The amount of items displayed is huge. A thoroughly enjoyable way to spend time. There's a cafe, shop & toiletsWritten November 7, 2024
- H2374JInicholasb0 contributionsEnjoyableI wasn't expecting much... but the museum was terrific. A real trip down memory lane and further. The staff are friendly and the whole place is well set out and very clean. We went fairly early in the morning and it was nearly empty which allows you to browse without bumping into others. All in all an excellent experience.Written September 20, 2024

- Review91110 contributionsBranding Disastervery narrow walkway bit claustrophobic, bumped into smooching couple - museum not that busy, staff on their mobiles. Main concern was that for priced admission no interactivity of any sort just windows to look at things.Written September 15, 2024
- emz18830 contributionsA treasure trove of history!Discovered this museum quite by accident as we were preparing our trip to London and I am so pleased we found it - it is a hidden gem! It is quite literally a time capsule of all the thing you once owned or loved as a child. Toys, food, radios, tv's, games, books - you name it, they probably have it here in their 'Time Tunnel'. Wall-to-wall nostalgia and so many reawakened memories. They also have a cute little cafe and garden area but don't expect too much as food choices are quite limited but homemade which is always a plus. Their gift shop is also fun and quirky - you are almost certain to take something home with you to remind you of your visit to the Museum of Brands!Written September 12, 2024
- 525lesleyb0 contributionsamazing exhibitionmy 2nd trip in a year to this lovely museum, this time taking some friends, who loved it. Its so interesting, even more so when you hit your era in the exhibition. Lovely cafe with delicious cake and tea. Just a very short walk from Ladbroke Grove underground. So nice to get away from the really big museums and find this little gem. Really worth a visitWritten September 8, 2024
- U6665YIdavidc0 contributionsFascinating from start to finishA really interesting trip down memory lane, especially for us oldies born in the 1940s, seeing consumer goods and brands we had long forgotten about, and seeing a lot of British social history imaginatively displayed. For example I had forgotten how huge the early home video recorders really were. If there was a single standout object in the entire collection, then for me it was the original 1984 Apple Macintosh, which remains a stunningly elegant piece of design - it still looks so sleek and modern, even forty years later.Written August 31, 2024
- T254EXlynnk0 contributionsWonderful museum of memoriesWonderful museum so many childhood memories came back to see all the things we used years ago and toys we played with, the person on the counter was so lovely and so proud of this museum we enjoyed talking with him as much as the museumWritten August 31, 2024
- NorfolkHorn0 contributionsPossibly the best museum in london...This is a truly unique museam exploring the history of brands and branding from the 1800s to the present day. My friend and I spent well over an hour looking at the displays which brought so much nostalgia back to usWritten August 20, 2024
- TheProbe0 contributionsLoads of stuff not much contextThere is a load of stuff from the last 200 years, but very little explanation or context. If you don't know at least some of the history of the products that people in the UK have been consuming over the last several decades I suspect you could walk through this museum very quickly without really getting much out of it. However, I did enjoy my visit, in part because I was able to discuss the stuff with a friend of a similar age, and we managed to spend more than 2 hours walking through the "Time Tunnel". One other word of warning - it's quite small, so if it is busy it is difficult to get close enough to the stuff to appreciate it. Luckily the other people didn't linger too long.Written August 17, 2024
- Gilmond_Simons0 contributionsfavourite museumsThis museum has quickly become one of my favourite museums in London. The collection is incredibly inspiring and marvellous, featuring brands, packages, and ads from the Victorian era to today. There are so many things to see that I couldn't even finish exploring everything in 3 hours. I definitely need to visit again soon.Written August 9, 2024
- MissAGuest0 contributionsGreat History, Needs a Modern UpdateThis museum is smaller and lesser-known than most. In turn, the entry fee is lower, less time needs to be allocated, and there are some notable quality differences. We were impressed with how far back the exhibits date to, with an immense selection of vintage novelties. The newer (post-1990's) exhibits feel like a bit of an afterthought, and it was clear that the most recent update was during the era of 1 Direction mayhem. Overall, this was a cute museum- a welcome change of pace from the massive tourist museums.Written August 5, 2024

- quartzi20150 contributionsA great nostalgia tripIt is a small affordable museum that needs about one hour to one hour fifteen minutes to see. The collection is amazing, because they had to get together so many different packagings of food and drink, plus posters, magazines and toys from the last 200 years. It is a great nostalgia experience for anyone who is British, seeing discontinued brands and products, and still existing ones. Childhood sweets and fizzy drinks being the best. It clearly shows how the design of packaging has changed over the years. There are quite a few board games which no longer are for sale, many based around military or travel themes. This was a real eye opener; they were the video games of their day. In addition to the main collection, there were further rooms. One showed a product's change of packaging over the years i.e. Fairy Liquid and Guinness were two I remember. The other room was a space for a local artists who had made paintings about familiar drink bottles. There is also a cafe, and really nice courtyard open air garden to sit and eat and drink in, or just to sit after your visit and chat. The shop is well stocked with interesting gifts. The only improvements I can suggest are: A display about why colours, fonts and styles changed; giving the products a wider context with what art and design was in a certain era and what it was supposed to represent. A display contrasting the UK products with American ones, seeing if cultural differences affected design and vice versa.Written July 19, 2024

It was a delight to come in out of the rain and take a trip down firstly a historical then later on memory lane. Documenting branding from the Victorians to the present day, this museum offers a tantalising collection of brands. I even spotted a Mizz magazine which I worked on in the '80s. I found a great poster on display by artist Austin Cooper but sadly not on sale here yet you can buy it at the Science Museum Group. You're not allowed to take photos which is a shame as it would make for lovely Instagram photos,(free publicity) the museum has missed a trick here. Maybe it's to do with copyright yet most of the images are available elsewhere on-line.
This collection is very entertaining and suitable for the young, the old and anyone in-between. It's a delightfully nostalgic way to spend a couple of hours. There is also a beguiling little cafe and garden for when the sun comes out.

Everyone will find plenty to interest and amuse at this remarkable museum.
This museum is based on Robert Opie's life-long passion for collecting and preserving the history of brands and packaging.
As you walk through the "Time Tunnel" you can see how many of our favourite brands started out and evolved.
At some point in the tunnel you will start to recognise some 'old friends' - packaging, brands and products, including toys, that you remember from your childhood.
It is fascinating to hear other visitors start talking enthusiastically as they reach their childhood years on this journey.
We were very fortunate to meet Robert Opie during our visit. He was very charming and clearly has a passion for the importance and relevance of products and brands to our history and culture.
The museum also has an excellent shop, cafe and a beautiful garden to sit in.

The museum was just a fun way to spend a couple of hours. The entry fee was £9, which we thought was actually quite cheap, I was surprised to see other reviewers thought this was expensive.
The museum features hundreds of different items, from Victorian era all the way up to the current day and displayed across the decades. I would agree with some other comments in that there could have been more information about the changing designs and more information to read to get a better understanding of product evolution etc. however this didn't spoil our enjoyment, it was still very interesting to see what was on display and to reminisce about the things we had whilst growing up (80s kids!).
The staff were really lovely and we enjoyed the exhibit at the end about modern day advertising campaigns and politics!

Thank you for writing a review about us. I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to the Museum and our temporary exhibition 'When Brand's Take a Stand'.
Our Time Tunnel provides a nostalgic look back at over 200 years of consumer culture, so much so that it is bursting with different stories, fads and fashions, design changes and brand evolutions! I completely understand your comment on getting a better understanding of all these different changes in the time tunnel, and you will be pleased to know that we are always developing new trails, activities and talks to help unpack some of these stories in a managable way. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.
I'm so glad that you had an enjoyable visit. We hope to see you again sometime soon!
Kind regards,
Liam

This museum is a real find. A well laid out and comprehensive timeline of products, packaging and advertising through the ages. Everyone, including us, was saying 'I remember those' or 'didn"t we used to have one of those'. Interesting display of the use of colour in branded packaging and how logos and brands have developed, often very subtly, over time. Recommended if you have a couple of hours to spare.

A tube trip a few stops away from central London will take you to this unusual museum. Just a few steps around the corner from the tube station and you enter the Museum of Brands, which is sitting in a rather humble position on a roadside.
Our journey began with a cabinet displaying some wooden toys, which did not have all the gloss of today's plastic dolls, but had a simple charm about them.
The museum leads you through a time tunnel, as you move from Victorian times through to modern day. The cabinets display thousands of brands through the years, from cereal boxes and toothpaste tubes through to board games and robots. I found it particularly interesting seeing how familiar household names had changed over the years.
Myself and my partner agreed that chocolate bars from wartime definitely looked more special.
We spent about an hour weaving through the time tunnel and felt the nine pound a person entry fee was fair for this quirky and memorable experience.

We had a really fun time at this museum. It's got an amazing collection of things that really paint a picture of daily life through the ages. Toys, magazines, posters, clothes, old brands of chocolate you'd forgotten about. Anything you can think of really. It starts with Victorian times and goes right up to the present day so there will be something for everyone in the group to get nostalgic about! The staff were so lovely and helpful. There is a great gift shop full of things I haven't seen anywhere else and a lovely little garden too. I'll definitely go back with my parents. You can definitely make a day of it as the museum is right in Notting Hill, just 5 minutes from Portobello Road. Highly recommend!

This is an excellent museum which takes visitors on a journey from the beginning of the 20th century up until now. Not only do they tell the history of brands but also give a wider view of British life throughout the decades. I couldn't recommend it more. It's also really peaceful and you can spend a lot of time just wandering through the 'time machine'.

We heard about this museum on a TV programme (think it was called, The Wonderful World Of Chocolate) and me and my partner both thought that it would be a very interesting place to visit when we were next in London.
Due to Covid guidelines we needed to choose our arrival slot and pay the admission fee, but this was very easy to do through the website. We found the £9 per person admission fee to be very reasonable. We were greeted upon arrival by a very pleasant lady on reception who gave us both a free annual pass upgrade (I noticed the price of this was £17 per person) which we both thought was a very generous gesture.

We would highly recommend this place. We were made so welcome by the woman on the counter who explained the whole museum and how long it would take to go through it.
The exhibits are amazing and span well over 100 years showing how packaging has changed over the years. Plus there were some great surprises like a display of radios over the years. It is all well laid out, in a logical order so that you can follow through from one decade to the next bringing back many memories as well as showing things we did not know about.
A bonus was meeting museum owner Mr Opie who took time to speak to us and ask us about our visit. He is a most interesting man.
We are so glad we bought an annual ticket as we need to go back again and again to absorb everything. A perfect visit for us and our children.

Spent a wonderful hour and a half walking down memory lane at London's Museum of Brands.
A really amazing and comprehensive collection of packaging, memorabilia, products and social history all set out in chronological order.
It brought back so many memories of childhood and reminded and informed us of eras in UK history.
Loved the artwork and seeing the changes manufacturers made in order to get people to notice and buy the products.
There are good areas to sit outside the actual museum and displays and a really beautiful garden at the back.
made to feel welcome and safe by the staff with clear guidelines for social distancing.
I have friends in wheelchairs and all the exhibit is easily accessible.
the loos are clean and spacious
There is a small shop too with quite a few nice mementos and presents and cards and things.
