This was lots of fun, interactive with visitors getting picked to join in. Could be scary in places, especially when the lights were turned off. The actors were really good and definitely got into character.

Make sure you understand what you're visiting. If you like live actor scary/horror events this is for you.
The attraction itself is extremely well done. My issue is that you're not actually visiting the London Dungeons or even really a mock up of them. You are given some information but it doesn't feel particularly educative or informative. We much preferred the prison tour of the Oxford prison where you actually go to the prison. The tour guide is in fancy dress but you aren't scared half witless. In the "London Dungeons" you and a bunch of strangers are squashed into small spaces with gross smells mostly in the pitch dark or very very dim lighting. You don't know where you are or where you are going or how long it is to last, or where the nearest the fire exit is. You're in a basement. Lots of loud noises. My partner who loves horror films thought it was brilliant. The quality of live actors/acting was very high. Sadly however this was not at all appropriate for my 9 year old son who was terrified and he's fine with mild horror films such as Arachnophobia, but this was too much. It's really expensive, cost us £130 for 3 of us and we had to leave early via a fire escape (along with another traumatised boy from a diff family). I basically had to ask the live actor can we please leave. To his credit he immediately whisked us through the fire door. It would have been better however if we had been told at the start what was involved, how to exit in the event of a fire and it needs an age limit. NOT appropriate for a 9 year old. I was actually quite relieved myself to be out of there. I don't want to be locked in small spaces with strangers in the dark. Also the actors need to assess which of the customers want to be picked on to participate.

London Dungeon Review - August 2024
This was my second time going through the dungeon and it was better than the first time I went around! There are always new things there, the actors are always amazing and you get really immersed by the use of smells, sounds and scenery. The scariest part of the attraction is definitely 'The Curse of the Witch' as the 'witch' starts off in a cage, and then suddenly and moves to another cage with a member of the audience inside, and then appears around the room with seat vibrations, strobe lights, loud sounds and smoke. It is not as scary as a halloween scare attraction, but this scene does have a few jump scares. Another scene like this is the 'Ten Bells Pub' with 'Jack the Ripper'. This can be rather scary at first because there are loud sounds and jump scares with the man himself! Overall, I highly recommend this attraction to anyone who likes a spook and a good laugh. It is filled with audience interaction, spooks and laughter and should not be missed. I would say that anyone 10+ should do it, anyone younger might find it to overwhelming. I have done multiple Dungeon attractions now, that being 'Alton Towers Dungeon', 'York Dungeon', 'Edinburgh Dungeon' and 'London Dungeon' and the London version is definitely the best as it is the longest, has two rides, great actors and a perfect location!

      Good immersive experience
This experience was really immersive! The acting was amazing, and I loved the interaction they have with visitors. I would slay it's not really scary even though there were some good scare moments.

      Crap
The real torture is having to endure two hours of this pile of absolute garbage. It's just a bunch of rooms with jobbing actors reading bad scripts which try to mix history with comedy only to end up achieving neither, piss poor effects and an endless sense of come in, pay for your tacky arse photos you are forced to take between the main entrance and the show entrance, and then piss off back outside. The whole experience falls firmly into the 95% element of Sturgeons Law. If the tour was an hour longer, people would end up killing themselves in the pie shop. Still, at least I can know say I know what it's like to be raped in a dungeon. Crap.

Not as good as I remember, but still very scary and fun
Not as good as I remember but still amazing and scary. Fun for the family, minimal queues to get in, in fact we turned up 10 minutes before our pre booked time, showed the ticket and went in. Actors are amazing and certainly made for a great experiance.

Sinful sinners being sinfully dealt with
It seems I forgot to review this elegant brother of the Edinburgh Dungeon, so I shall do so now! I shall begin with the ungodly long queue, I think Jesus lost faith in me as I waited for this location to merely let me into the lobby where there was another accursed queue, I then had some photos taken of me by some beast who kept encouraging me to touch an unholy person, I did no such thing so I folded my arms and pouted with righteous anger, after those dreadful images being made I was greeted by yet another queue and this time it was even longer, I found the experience itself very enlightening though I must confess to seeing the pearly gates on the droptower, people kept mocking me for it! It's not my fault I get panic attacks from falling of Notre Dame de Paris. Anyway it was a lovely experience and I'm glad that the cast kept calling the scoundrels who visited sinners, most fitting as half of them had the attitude of the French.

      Not a great experience
The actors during the tour clearly enjoying themselves were good and played their parts well which was totally different to those who greeted us on arrival. They were rude and aggressive. We arrived from bright sunshine outside into the near pitch black darkness of the dungeon, we could not see everything around us immediately so pushing us to move on was not helpful or appreciated. Once the tour starts as said previously the actors are good and the stories well told, however it was all quite rushed and the ride at the end of the tour was a little underwhelming. We did not think the tour was at all scary but the history stories about London’s past were interesting.

      Excellent time in the dungeons
Took both my nieces who are aged 15 and 19 to the London Dungeon, we had a great time, fully immersive and the 15 year old got chosen for one of the parts of the show.

Dungeons fantastic but melon group being let down by combination ticket partners.
We visited the Dungeons as part as a 3 attraction ticket purchase from the machine outside the venue. The Dungeons are excellent well worth a visit, great and enjoyable history tour. Now,you maybe wondering why the average score. As a family we purchased a 3 attraction ticket and as my daughter has disabilities, we were able to get discount with a carer ticket. The dungeons and sea life was great and staff very friendly but, the big tour bus, which was part of the 3 refused to give a carers ticket even though their website says they do it and charged us £45 for the additional ticket. Now even though it was advertised as a three admission attraction, the extra charge by big bus eliminated the savings made. The Merlin group are being let down by their partners hence why the low review. Anyone considering buying tickets via the carer discount I’d recommend sticking to Merlin and attraction’s and is a different bus tour.

      Immersive
I remember coming here as a child and it scared the life out of me. All of the creepy models that were there now have seemed to have disappeared and replaced by more of an actor experience. It was still really good and immersive but I do like a bit of nostalgia they should bring a good section of these back.

I treated my boyfriend for his birthday, we both had not been before so we weren’t sure what to expect. It was brilliant, scary, comical and the staff were fantastic!! Highly recommend visiting. Also, great knowledge of history and greatly told and interactive by the staff.

      Super scary, awesome acting!
Fabulous, fun and immersive experience. The acting is excellent and effects are great. The groups are quite large which can make it a little tricky for children or shorter individuals to be able to see. Lots of flashing light effects and stairs. The witches were super scary! A few screams may of slipped out! Definitely worth a visit.

Visited as a family party of two adults and a 12 year old.

We had pre-booked advance tickets for 1000hrs which was as soon as the attraction opened, and we got our tickets scanned and into the venue without too much waiting around. We were told that masks were optional although recommended and I would say that from what I could see it was a fairly equal mix amongst the customers (the staff and actors were all masked throughout the attraction).

We were split into a party of around 15 people and then, after a couple of picture that are able to be purchased at the end, taken to the first area where we got a quick briefing from the ‘Jester’. I had visited York Dungeon last year and Amsterdam around 15 years prior to that and the Dungeon’s as a group follow a similar template (and script!) of taking events and figures from an areas history and building little scenes around them, with you walking through between the performances in a linear fashion. The usual London-centric topics of Jack the Ripper and the Gunpowder Plot are represented here along with scenes recounting the story of Sweeney Todd and a bit set during the Great Fire of London. As to historical accuracy this is an entertainment venue rather than a museum so bear that in mind if that is what you are in the market for.

At certain points ‘volunteers’ are pulled out of the crowd and used to demonstrate some historical torture device or similar, this amounts to the unlucky victim being sat in front of the rest of the group and being subject to a little harmless ‘end of the pier’ type teasing humour. The dungeon itself seems larger than the York one with the theming and set design feeling like a little bit more effort has been made. There is a small drop ride, themed to a hanging, at the end of the tour but that can be skipped if you don’t want to do it or have medical issues. At the very end there is a small gift shop and a pub where you can get a drink. We were headed elsewhere so didn’t dally there long so I can’t speak for the prices there.

In terms of content it is a little gory and some of the humour and subject matter is not suitable for the really young or people of a sensitive disposition but the overall tone is campy rather than frightening. There are a fair few ‘jumpscares’ but that’s about the height of it in terms of things that will actually scare you.

I had previously visited the London Dungeon in its former location a number of years ago and remember enjoying it. As we progressed through I was attempting to work out what they had retained from before and what had changed. The main topics remain the same (Jack the Ripper, Sweeney Todd, etc) but the way they are presented seems to have differed, some more than others. The boat ride was closed when we went and some bits seemed as if they were still operating in ‘Covid Mode’ but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

I found the actors to be engaged and energetic, a benefit of being in the first group of admissions after opening, and I was impressed with their performances.

All of my group enjoyed the experience and I would recommend it to people who are looking for something to do with older kids or those who like this sort of thing.

Interesting time travel back in the time of plagues, murders and torture in London. Young actors make a great effort to transport you in time. The extra Sherlock Holmes exhibition was a bit lame and not worth the extra 5 quid....

First of all, the tour was very boring and nothing scary at all. Just stories from the past. They said it would talk about 2 hours to finish the adventure and by 1hr 20 mins we were already at the bar of the finish point. When we paid for the ticket online, it stated that we will have 2 rides and a free drink at the bar when we finish the tour.
It was only 1 ride for only 10 seconds duration 😅. When we finished from the ride, they told us that the adventure is over and i checked my ticket to make sure i'm not wrong and asked a member of the staff why hadn't we another ride like we were supposed to.

After getting her to notice me cause she seemed to ignore me, she said that the boat ride is out of order. I suppose that that should had told us before hand that we will have only one ride, and should have gave us a discount, regardless it waa already expensive for that cheap tour. But we said nothing and went to the bar.

We bought some nice suviniers from the shop and went to the bar to pay for them. A lady before me asked the barwomen that she is supposed to have a free drink which is included in her ticket. They refused to give her and said that they have to see a proof to make her a free drink. She showed them a printed paper and even though there was free drink written, they still refused cause then they said that the offer is not available anymore. She insisted and then they had to make her one.

Then it was my turn. After i payed for my souvenirs, i told them that we also have a free drink and once again they said no. i told them that it was written down in the ticket which i bought online and they ordered me to show them the original ticket, the original email, and the paypal reciept. i showed everything to them and then guess what??!! they wanted to see "free drink" written somewhere on the tickets. i went through the london dungeon own website and showed then that even on their site is written. they said that still it is not available now.
and then i blew out. i told them that first we payed for a 2 hr tour and finished in less then 1.5hrs, with one less ride without and compensation, and now they are even not giving us the free drink which we were supposed to have. they called their manager after mocking us without noticing us seeing then, and then he ordered them to make us each a free drink.

This wasn't just about a free drink or for money. but for not treating the customers well. after having a cheap tour with missing plans, i dont accept that they take advantage of us. i just wanted to make a point.

It s not worth it!!! Money down the drain!

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear about the issue with your drink, but pleased to hear that the manager on the day managed to resolve. This is an excellent, funny and entertaining show at the London Dungeon, located at Westminster. I had visited the previous venue at London Bridge a few times but along with the new location since then, there are also many new shows such as Sweeney Todd and I would recommend anyone interested in horror to visit even if hey had been before. The effects now are stunning and genuinely scarey. The inclusion of audience participation is great, there is defintely more of this with the current show - for the first time in my own visits, I was picked on to stand in the dock in the court scene at the end !

Oh you flatter us, Traitor! Our Torturer, however, is (cough) dismayed… that you ‘enjoyed’ your visit and urges that you return to the foul depths of his dungeon to ‘help him with his enquiries’.

I’ve been to many overpriced attractions over the years so was expecting more of the same but how I was wrong. This was excellent made more so by social distancing meaning you could see all the story tellers close up. The rooms were well put together and the actors very enthusiastic. One thing I would say is this is not for small children, we saw a few in there who were upset and I think the recommend age of 12 is very fair. I certainly wouldn’t want my 10 year old here as he would have been scared.

We booked our tickets for 3pm and had to queue for 30 minutes inside, masks on , with a long queue of others and wait for 30 minutes before we got on. Not pleasant for many as it was warm and masks make things uncomfortable. No staff came to tell us what the problem was which I found rude and unprofessional. It definitely took away from our experience

Once we got in we had a good time, not scary but good fun. Actors were amazing and didn’t feel rushed. We left 90 minutes later, having read the whole experience lasted 40 minutes.

Next time I would ask that staff let the public know why there is such a long delay and what the problem is.

Booking was easy on line and we did this as a family of four (two teens, 15 and 18). Despite having a booked time to arrive there was still a bit of a wait to start the experience. Very disappointed to see the river ride was closed for maintenance, didn’t know this when I booked and a discount would have been nice as we obviously did not have the full experience but paid the full price.

The experience starts well but very quickly becomes predictable, some actors are brilliant, a couple almost seemed bored!

Not as good as I remember it twenty years ago, so I was disappointed. However my two lads said they really enjoyed it and my partner seemed to really enjoy himself too; especially as he got picked on in the court room!

Brilliant time spent at the London Dungeon, we are a family of 2 adults and a 13 year old child. We booked our tickets via the 'free adult' promotion and my adult daughter got a student ticket deal via Student Beans. The money paid (£40 - for the 3 of us) was well worth it and I can thoroughly recommend this attraction.

The queue was not that long at all and we quickly went through the bag search area. The staff are very friendly and the actors/actresses are truly amazing! They are what really make this experience. We went through various themed rooms, being told information about various times in history including; The Gun Powder Plot, Sweeney Todd and Jack the Ripper. My 13 year old loved the jump scares and me and my adult child found the information interesting. Sadly the boat ride was closed but we all did the drop ride (there is an option to not do this) and it was a load of fun.

At the end of the experience you have the option to buy the themed pics they take at the start of the tour, there is a small gift shop and a bar. Sadly they no longer offer the free drink with every ticket like they did several years ago when I last visited.

Do not hesitate to book this experience - you will not be disappointed. Be warned though, I wouldn't take children younger than 10 or those that are easily scared.

This experience was...lacklustre. We arrived 10 minutes early and were asked to queue, we were at the front of said queue. Yet, when we started the experience we were at the back of the previous batch. Being at the back is absolutely the worst place to be during this tour because you cannot for your life hear a word of what the actors are saying. Equally, this felt like a chicken coup in the sense that they were cramming as many people into batches as they physically could and yet had zero regards for the experience of those participating. The timed experience meant that actors often rushed their lines, to the point that it was incredibly difficult to follow what they were saying. The dodgy accents also didn't make this any easier. I think this is WHY so many people ignored the rules about not taking their phones out, which many foreigners did indeed do. To add to this already long list of problems, there was an incredible amount of just hanging around. The group ahead of us hadn't finished their "zone" yet and this meant we were left in limbo with nothing going on. It was NOT a seamless experience by any means but as I explained previously this is because they were thinking max profit and not max experience with the volume of participants. To make matters even worse, one tourist repeatedly got her phone out, ruining the experience for everyone, and instead of ejecting her, the actors just broke character and yelled at her several times. Absolutely pathetic in my opinion, especially when tickets are £60+ pp. I genuinely left incredibly frustrated and disappointed. Not only had I not had a good experience, I felt cheated out of my money for a pretty poor tour with virtually zero historical accuracies. My suggestion- don't bother.

Fun family adventure. Great interaction with the actors and interesting historical overview of London including Guy Fawkes, The Great Fire, Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd. Can be a bit scary at times when total blackout etc and the ride at the end has a height restriction so would recommend not for kids under 10 years. Excellent social distancing maintained throughout the experience. Good acting and fun interaction with the audience. I would recommend that the actors slow down a bit as non English would have trouble understanding our accent when spoken so fast. Allow one and a half hours for the tour and you can have a welcome drink in the tavern at the end and browse the shop. Recommend.

Our Torturer is (cough) dismayed… that you ‘enjoyed’ your visit and urges that you return to the foul depths of his dungeon to ‘help him with his enquiries’.
