    Southwark with Stephen
A walking tour with Stephen around Southwark. An interesting and inspiring walk around this very historic area with Stephen our guide. He has a great deal of knowledge and as we were a small group we could hear him and take it all in .Altogether an enjoyable couple of hours learning about the history of London

Excellent tour brought Roman London to life
I would like to commend Jenny for being a superb tour guide on the Private Roman London tour. Jenny is knowledgeable, friendly, patient and extremely well versed in her topic. The tour started at the Roman walk near the Castle where Jenny went into the history of Roman London so that the artifacts could be seen in context. We then moved to see further sections of the wall where photos of modern London could be framed by the ancient Roman wall. We walked towards the place where the Roman baths had been discovered and Jenny went into detail bringing Roman culture and daily living to life. We moved towards the river where she painted a picture of life on the River 2000 years ago. We then moved away from the river towards Leadenhall market and the Guildhall. Once again Jenny explained the relevance of each place. Although, like you, I had done my research before booking the tour there is no way I could have brought Roman life in London alive in the manner that Jenny did. I highly recommend her and this tour.

    Heretics & Horrors
Jenny's "Heretic & Horrors" tour was a terrific, well designed, historically detailed introduction to The City -- via its histories of persecution and imprisonment -- for my group of university students. Recommended!

    Great tour for the curious
I attended the Women and Medicine in Euston walking tour with Sylvia and just had the greatest time. Intelligent, amusing and well paced tour in Euston and Tavistock area. Sylvia shared her passion about Elizabeth Garret Anderson and women in stem, which was a great focus for this piece of London history and the area. Highly recommended for intellectually curious folk.

Rewarding London walks even for longterm Londoners
Even if you think you know London, these walks are rich in unusual details and unexpected connections, not to mention creative routes through familiar streets. If you don't know London, any one walk covers more in 90 minutes than you would get with a guidebook or an app on your own – history and culture, colourful characters and memorable anecdotes.

    Jeykll and Hyde Victorian London
Thoroughly enjoyed the Jeykll and Hyde tour of an early evening in March. Hazel kept up the energy levels for a full 90mins. Hazel really set the scene of the Victorian London time that the book was written. A real history lesson along with finding various hidden spots that I would like to go back to again.

Get a whole new view of London's women
What a fabulous tour, learned so much about some amazing women. Led by the lovely Sylvia who had deep knowledge but never made it feel like a lecture but rather a conversation.

Tale of Two Slums in St Giles - Walk
A huge thank you to our guide, Sylvia. What an amazing person she is. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and connection with her audience were outstanding. It was a rainy, cold day in London this afternoon but it didn't matter because we were engrossed in the memorable stories that Sylvia told us about how this area, south east of Tottenham Court Road station, was changed from fields to slums to chic apartments and modern buildings. She answered every question with a full, detailed reply and when she couldn't answer the question I asked, she researched the answer and texted it to me later. I would have given her more stars if it were possible. The time flew past and my friend and I were sorry when the talk finished. Thank you so much.

    Fantastic Christmas Walk
I joined Hazel’s Victorian Christmas Walk that started at St Paul’s and ended at Somerset House. It was an excellent walk with interesting stories and scenery. Hazel has an amazing amount of knowledge and such a joyful way of sharing it. Great way to spend 90mins on a Sunday afternoon, good pace for all young and old. Loved it!

Great way to start the trip
I bought this tour for my daughter and her friends on their first day in London. And they absolutely loved it! The guide gave them lots of tips for their trip and also spent extra time showing them downtown. It was a great introduction and a way to get the trip started in the right foot. Highly recommend!

    Excellent London Guided Walk
We did the “secret villlage” walk with Jonathan on the afternoon of Monday 25th September. We started off at St Paul’s tube and walked through a lovely square which was part of Bart’s hospital. We ended up in Clerkenwell . Jonathan was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. A really enjoyable walk .

We thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating walk. Brilliantly conceived as a tracing of the steps of Oliver Twist arriving in London. The ‘story’ was intertwined with plenty of other material which, overall, painted a wonderfully evocative picture of Victorian London. The guide thoughtfully and skillfully involved a couple of under 10s. Plenty of invitations for questions. I would not hesitate in recommending this companies guided walks.

Oliver Twist - Guided Walk by Hasel was an absolute treat! Had a great leisurely walk through Angel towards Farringdon learning so much about Dickensian London: attitudes, smells, society and outcasts; discovered so many hidden gems on the way and it definitely made me to read the book again. And this time I appreciated it much more as had more knowledge about that times and realities of leaving as an outcasts. Thank you Hasel for an unforgettable experience!

Hazel literally brought Oliver Twist to life. This walk concentrated on chapter 8, following the footsteps of Oliver from The Angel pub in Islington to the likely lodgings of Fagin in Farringdon. The tour provides a snapshot of London in 1838 when Dickens wrote the story. It’s fascinating to discover why the Regency terraces of Pentonville Road had such long front gardens, and contrast it to the cramped, barely living, conditions of the ‘Rookeries’. Hazel’s engaging style detailed the implications of herding cattle through the streets to Smithfield meat market and why you might pay someone to cross the road. It made me think differently about pollution before combustion engines, the smells, noise, customs, and why the late Victorians sanitised certain street names.
As we twisted through the allies and streets Oliver’s narrative, Hazel enriched and contextualised Dickens’ London, it really was a great walking tour.

Thank you for your kind words, Fred. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Oliver Twist was brought to life for you and that you enjoyed exploring London in 1838. Dickens was a master of bringing the city to life in his stories and it's fascinating to see how his descriptions still ring true today. I hope you'll consider joining us on another one of our walks in the future. We have something for everyone, whether you're interested in history, literature or just want to explore more of London's amazing history. Thanks again for your review and we hope to see you soon!

All the tours are fantastic. I've been on almost 10 of them and I felt that I had learned a lot on each of them. Hazel is incredible: she knows aa great deal and has a wonderful way to communicate her knowledge : she is funny, she is friendly, she's a lovely person.
Although she's not the one responsible for the financial tour, I highly recommend the tour: the guide is such an expert on the financial district and of London as a financial center that you get so much interesting information that you almost need a second tour! It really is a very good value for your money.
