Knights Templars, Crusaders & Freemasons Tour, London
An excellent Tour. Stephen, the Tour Guide has a wealth of historical knowledge in the city of London, and knows the city like the back of his hand, and took us to places well off the tourist beaten track. Although our interest was mainly the Knights Templars, Stephen also informed us of many other fascinating historical facts. Furthermore, as we found it all so interesting the normal 3 hour Tour took nearly 4 hours and we were never rushed; and in fact the end of the Tour was determined by our agenda, rather than his. Highly recommended, and good value for money.

    Superb visit
I recently took a friend from the US to the RAF Museum as we hadn't been for many years and opted for a private tour. Well worth the money as you get a very detailed talk as well as some fantastic insights. There have been many changes since I last visited including opening up of the Sunderland Flying boat and the recovered Halifax bomber. Well worth a visit.

    Enjoyable Adventure
Stephen was a fountain of information and actually wrote the book on the secret gardens we visited. Meet us at our hotel and walked with us to the underground, to get us to the start of the tour. Weaving through the city of London to gardens that the average tourist would never know existed. What a great time we had. Thank you Stephen

    Great tour and awesome guide
Stephen Liddell is an amazing tour guide. We covered a ton of ground in England and learned all about the history along the way. We look forward to coming back and doing another one of his tours.

    Dickens would have loved it.
Our guide, Kevin, was THE BEST, knew his stuff. Met us right on time at our hotel and the tour started immediately. Down alleys, through parks, in and out of pubs. If you're a Dickens fan do not miss this tour.

Private tour of Mayfair and Belgravia
Great time with Kevin touring Mayfair and Belgravia! 12,000 steps in and a lot of information. Highly recommend for everyone who wants to know hidden history of London and its areas.

The Churchill Tour - a MUST!
Our guide, Kevin, was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and led us to so many interesting and out-of-the-way Churchill haunts! The tour was fun and informative and we would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful mix of history and natural beauty.
Wonderful mix of history and natural beauty set in London. Small churchyards, a hidden crypt, to to Rooftop garden at 120. Well paced walking tour. Stephen has an excellent command of history and local lore. We will return soon for the pub tour! Thanks again, Dave and Diane

    Great Tour and Amazing Guide!
Our first activity on our very first visit to London - we traveled as a family and everyone loved this tour. So much info on the Sherlock Holmes saga - both past and more recent. Our guide, Kevin, was absolutely the best. He was kind, helpful, supremely knowledgeable! He pointed out so much that was nearby our walking path and helped us become familiar with the tube. Based upon information he shared, we went back to several places over the span of our visit. Kevin obviously loves what he does and it was clear that his top priority was to make our experience a great one!

Simply an Amazing Tour Experience - Book Now
We had an amazing private walking tour with our guide, Stephen. Stephen was punctual at our hotel as agreed upon via text the day before. He is a very friendly, genuine and authentic person. His extensive breadth of knowledge of sites that we visited was impressive. I asked many questions and he managed to answer all of them. Stephen was very patient and stepped up to the task of letting my tween see and pet some horses. I would absolutely recommend this company. I look forward to taking more tours in the future.

At the heart of things but off the beaten path - truly the best way to see London!
Seriously the most cool walking tour available in London. No tourists. Just you, Stephen and the an insiders view at some of the most overlooked places with the most amazing pieces of London history: the place where William Wallace (of Braveheart fame) was drawn and quartered, the Templar church (yes, those of the Crusades), the bar where Stalin and Lenin argued (naturally just a few steps from the Karl Marx institute), the Old Bailey, the houses Dickens used as inspiration for Bleak House and Scrooge (and where the boy bought the Christmas goose), the Priory of St John (yes! the ambulance guys to this day!) and so very much more. It is an amazing trip through history and the personalities and proclivities that shaped it. Very much off the beaten tourist path. Highly recommend!

Hidden Treasure on this Amazing Tour of the City of London
This was one of the best walking tours we've ever taken! Roman walls, secret gardens, bombing sites reclaimed by nature, wonderful new buildings framed by the ancients, private odes to unsung heroes, London haunts of those who left to become American icons...these are just the few of the treasures of this magnificent, private and serene walking tour that Stephen Liddell offers in the City of London. Strongly recommended.

    Great Tour - Recommend
Stephen was great. His knowledge of London is 11 out of 10 and he is very friendly. We’re big Dickens fans, but this tour is for fans of all interest levels. Also, he was very generous with his time, making several diversions from the route to see things we asked about and even taking us to a few new locations he had discovered a day or two earlier. That kind of attention makes the higher price of this tour worth it. We definitely plan on checking back in with Stephen when we’re back in London for one of his other tours.

    Ye Olde England Tours Delivers!
This was a great tour and Stephen was a supremely knowledgeable and erudite guide! I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to ramble about London with Stephen as he pointed out the many historical features of the areas we saw. I had inquired about a tour focused on Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol and got a whole lot more than that! The ultimate highlight was our ending place - the George & Vulture Chop House (Pub). What a thrill that was!! The current owners were very friendly and it was a thrill to relax at the end of the tour and share a pint of ale. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it!!

Stephen has an encyclopaedic knowledge of London facts, stories and trivia. We had a wonderful day that satisfied both the history buffs and real ale enthusiasts! We saw some of the most beautiful pubs in London, all with fascinating histories. We went down into the cellar of one pub where they used to keep prisoners and another pub that technically is in the city of Cambridge. I've been tiring of living in London recently but this tour reinvigorated my love for this city!

Stephen took us on a wonderful tour around Clerkenwell on Christmas Eve and we had a fantastic time. His knowledge was incredible and gave us a tremendous insight into not only that part of London but London as a whole. He was warm, funny and really made us all feel relaxed. We were talking about all Christmas!
Thanks Stephen!

What a brilliant brilliant tour. Stephen enlightened us all with some obscure London history facts and stories. We alI loved his passion and knowledge; he is a walking encyclopaedia.

We were lucky to go to some of the pubs that many people had their last ever drink in!

If you get a chance to go on this tour, do book Stephen to do this.

Great tour I totally recommend, wonderful venues all backed up with historical anecdotes. Stephen lead us through over a thousand years of history taking us down hidden passageways and around secret gardens you'd never know where there. I look forward to having the chance to take another of Stephen's tours soon.

I had a fantastic time last Friday on the Historic London Pubs tour. Great tucked away pubs with lots of history and great beer. Our guide, Stephen, made the whole experience so much better than simply a pub crawl. His encyclopaedic knowledge historic London made the tour educational and engaging. He took us to several pubs each with it’s own, sometimes grim past. The routes between the pubs were chosen carefully and Stephen continued to add history and anecdotes as we went. I would highly recommend this tour and I will certainly be taking another of Stephen’s tours in the future.

We were a big group for the private tour and Stephen was an exceptional guide. I’ve personally been to London 5-6 times and I ended up seeing a lot of new neighborhoods and pubs that I hadn’t ever visited. Stephen is extremely knowledgeable, all of us were blown away by the fun facts and depth of history he shared.

The pubs he took us to were exceptional and ones where the locals drink, no touristy spots. He was fun, delightful, kind, EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGABLE. He was one of the highlights of our trip, highly recommend.

What a fantastic tour! Drinks, history, conversation, more drinks! Stephen Liddell was a superb guide with an endless wealth of knowledge on anything and everything you could want to know about London and areas further afield. While the beers were great, they weren’t the point, which was even better. Just sitting in historic pubs having ANY drink, hearing the stories, talking about whatever, that was the point. We got caught in some steady rain a couple times, which just seemed to add to the authenticity, and Stephen went right along with it (while not keeping us outside any longer than necessary). He even offered up a great suggestion on where to buy cigars (Stephen, we took you up on that) and maybe some thoughts on where one’s Premier League loyalties should lie. Hope we can do this again on our next visit.

Hello! Thankyou so much for your great review. It was such a nice way to spend the day with you both. Wow, we did get drench for 5 minutes didn't we!!! I haven't been so wet ever since. I'm so glad that you found those cigars, that is a great shop too that I visit on my Churchill tour. I hope I helped you decide upon a good team to support. I was actually thinking of you yesterday when watching the NFL. Thankyou again and if you do come back, I do a great East End of London pub tour!

My sister and i started with the Ripper Tour and finished with the Historic Pub tour. It was a beautiful day and despite the fact that all of us had transport disruption to get to our meeting place all was forgotten once we all met up . We had a great day full of interesting sites and fascinating facts. From Whitechapel to Clerkenwell we covered miles . Places we would have scurried past Stephen was able to reveal hidden history. Brilliant. Thank you Stephen x

What Stephen doesn’t know about London, you could probably fit on postage stamp. He is, hands down, the best guide in the UK! I’ve been on a few tours with this company (admittedly most already ended in a pub!) but this was fascinating. I loved every minute of it!

This tour was just amazing, entertaining, educational, nutritional, hydrating and fantastic fun. I went with 4 friends and Stephen our guide so there were six of us in all. The pubs were all great and served a decent selection of beer on the whole. But Stephen is just the best guide. He is a genuine mine of information. He has masses of knowledge of history and every few yards we learned something new and interesting, including the cells in the cellar of the Viaduct Tavern , where Stalin and Lenin met in the Crown Tavern, The life and death of Jeremy Bentham, the history of the Hospital of the Knights of St John with its monster sized canonball, to mention just a few. We had our dinner booked for 6:30 pm, otherwise we could have gone on for another 5 hours - honest! I would mark this tour 100%!
