About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- I326QMcatherineg0 contributionsQuite a lot of money not worth it.I paid around £30 for the 3 of us to do a 25 min journey to Westminster pier. Originally I was going to do the Uber boat which is much cheaper but I thought we would enjoy the commentary. The commentary was scant and I could hardly hear it ( they need a better microphone). Also the boat was to leave at 1140 and the ticket said to get there for 1125 presumably to board. The boat didn't arrive until 1145 so alot of needless waiting. They also asked for a tip at the end of the tour. My husband did gabe some change he had but got the cost of the tickets it certainly wasn't worth it.Written October 30, 2024
- joeyJ9223AB0 contributionsHad fun, bring cashBooked this as part of my girlfriend's birthday, the weather wasn't great but we had a great time! The commentary was hilarious and the price was reasonable. Only downsides were that you could only pay for drinks and snacks on board with cash on the day. Still fun though!Written October 28, 2024
- susanward150 contributionsJourney to Tower Bridge.Brilliant Views of London Landmarks. Great Value for Money. Great facilities. Enjoyable commentary tour guide gave. We go again in the future. My Dad and I had so much Fun. It was a Wonderful Boat Cruise down the Thames.Written September 21, 2024
- potterhead50 contributionsMehMaybe it was an off day when we went, but though the experience was pleasant enough, I don't think it was worth the money. We did Tower Bridge to Westminster. Despite sitting on the top, it was a little tough to hear the guide. especially over people talking. and it was very much focused on the facts and not trying to make it engaging at all. The views are lovely though, especially if the weather is cooperative, but I could enjoy a similar experience on the Uber boat and pay a lot less.Written September 10, 2024

- lulahbean0 contributionsA different view of London and good commentaryWe have visited London so many times but this was such a different way to see it. Saw landmarks from angles we’ve never seen before. We caught the first boat at 10am. It was a lovely morning and we could sit on the open deck although it filled up quick so it’s worth getting there a bit earlier. The commentary was informative but funny which kept your interest. We learnt lots and decided to visit parts of Greenwich talked about in the commentary. This was a part of London we’d never visited before. Such a good cruise and well worth it. Good value too.Written August 8, 2024
- ChoupLG0 contributionsChoose another cruise! The 12:30 boat stopped twice before we could really start the first half of the cruise that is to say 20 minutes after departure time for a one way that is supposed to last 30! Then at tower bridge you get off and wait again to board. All in all you lose a lot of time. The audio was too loud, the commentaries were too centered on money and pubs. There are many tour operators on the Thames, choose another one!Written August 6, 2024
- Dream3183410 contributionsDenied boarding for the boat we booked - avoid!AVOID! I booked 8 tickets for my family for a specific boat, turned up 15 minutes before the boat was scheduled to depart and was turned away having been told the boat was full!! I asked the assistant for help and she said ‘it’s not my fault, I don’t control the boats’. Awful customers service and awful experience. We ended up taking an Uber boat which was 10% of the cost and much easier.Written July 27, 2024
- annabelb9370 contributionsAtrocious Organisation and Ticketing from River Thames SightseeingThere are a number of Thames River Sightseeing Cruises. This one started off from Festival Pier. The tour itself was actually OK but the ticketing and information was atrocious. We were sold single tickets despite saying three times that we wanted round trip ones and we were told that they didn't allow discounts for carers (my son is disabled and I'm his carer) although apparently they do. We ended up in Greenwich, stuck there waiting for a return boat, when we had specifically requested a circular tour as we knew that we had no time to go ashore in Greenwhich.Written July 24, 2024
- Daddyman19690 contributionsGreat time - would do it again! The guide was knowledgeable and funny. We cruised from Westminster Pier down to the Tower Bridge. Had I known how nice the experience would be, we might have booked the longer one. We will definitely do it again when we are back in London. We had tickets after this for a Tower Bridge tour, and the cruise was PERFECTLY on time, allowing us to stay on our planned schedule. We all loved it!Written June 7, 2024
- 511lesliek0 contributionsMixed experienceWe boarded at Westminster and because the outdoor seats were filled we had to sit indoors. It wasn't possible to see most of the sites through the windows from there and the sound system was so staticky that we couldn't hear much of the commentary. On the return trip the boat was newer, larger and nicer, and sitting outdoors was a much better experience. Be sure to allow lots of time to find the departure location since the instructions on the website aren't very specific.Written June 2, 2024
- yasir19830 contributionsLoved this boat ride-Worth the money, Amazing views by the bank of Thames, we started from London eye and passed through all the bridges London bridge, tower bridge etc and then went all the way to Greenwich. Guy who was commentating was great told us everything about the historical side of all those places. i would highly recommend this boat ride, bare in mind it will take you 1 hour and around 15 mns for a round trip.Written May 7, 2024

- MrHanns0 contributionsAwesome tour guide - without her the cruise will be boringMe and family had a wonderful moment on the cruise. I bought the ticket right after experiencing the London Eye. I know there were stories behind the many old and new buildings, and war ship along the river. What make me appreciate the short journey was the tour guide. I did not know her name, but she make her briefing something like standup comedy. Funny, witty, and full of information, all throughout the cruise. Non-stop feeding me with interesting information. Without her talent, I think the ride will be boring.Written April 3, 2024

The personal commentary, with the guys personal knowledge.
All of the staff on both boats were very professional, friendly and enthusiastic.
I felt very welcomed and safe at all times.
The boat had all the amenities required, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, comfortable seating, and reasonable spacious toilets.
It wasn't high season when I went, so when it is more crowded I can imagine that there is quite a queue for the toilets and refreshments.
They also didn't seem to have the ability to provide commentary in other languages (other than English) which was a bit of a shame.
My friend and I enjoyed the whole experience, and I would fully recommend it to anyone as a great way to see many of the important (and historic) sites in London, whilst giving the opportunity to visit another part of the city (we spent a brief time in Greenwich).

The personalized commentary was a highlight, showcasing the guide's knowledge. The staff on both boats were professional, friendly, and enthusiastic. I felt welcomed and safe. Amenities were great, but during high season, expect lines for toilets and refreshments. Multilingual commentary was lacking. Overall, a recommended way to explore London's historic sites and Greenwich.

I took amy trip with two friends from Costa Rica, and frankly I was embarrassed. The customer experience is way below similar trips that I have taken in other major cities. There was no professional guide on board to provide commentary, nor was there a pre-recorded commentary. The crew were doing their very best to fill this rather large gap in between running the vessel. Although they did a good job, it was sometimes hard to hear them, especially as we had a noisy family at the next table. Some ear buds would have addressed this issue. You would also expect the commentary to be provided in multiple languages. Serious investment is needed to bring the service up to scratch, and to justify the substantial cost of taking the tour.

This is a review of "Westminster To Greenwich River Thames Sightseeing Cruise".
Our school group boarded the boat at Westminster pier, point B, intending to visit the Maritime Museum at Greenwich. However, on arrival at London Bridge pier a member of the crew explained that even though our tickets were for Westminster to Greenwich, they were valid for a journey if 1hr duration only! He further explained that we could not continue to Greenwich unless we paid an additional £10 per person! Sadly we were forced to abandon the trip to the Maritime Museum, and instead took a second boat back to Westminster. (The one hour time limit was NOT made clear on the Headout.com website). Needless to say our afternoon sightseeing trip was ruined, leaving the children very disappointed.
Furthermore, the commentary was unprofessional, yet surprisingly a bucket was passed around for passengers to make a donation. Shouldn't the commentary should be included in the ticket price?
Disappointingly Headout.com have so far failed to give a satisfactory response to my refund request. Will not be using them again in future.

Feel well and truly robbed. Spent £78.00 on a 2 day river pass for 2 adults an 1 child, from Westminster and didnt even reach Greenwhich. I was double charged at the ticket office when the attendant said the first contactless attempt didnt go through, then asked me to put my card in. Make sure you ask for the confirmation receipt if they say ot hasn't gone through i've learnt my lesson. I rang the following day and was told to send evidence by the way of bank statement with everything else blanked out. Ive sent four emails to which i have had no response, and call after call with no answer. I own my own business and think this is a disgraceful way to treat customers.

Fantastic easy way to see the history of London along the Thames. Drinks available for purchase - it was a cold day (and rainy of course) so we decided to stay on and take the round trip rather than getting off in Greenwich. We started upstairs outside but ended up underneath to stay warm.
We found ourselves there earlier than our time and were able to jump aboard 45 minutes earlier than planned which was very convenient.
Highly recommend for your first trip to London to easily take in all the sights in a relatively short amount of time. The tidbits provided by our captain were informative and entertaining, with the typical London sarcasm thrown in for good measure.

The Thames cruise offers a fantastic way to explore London's history. On a cold, rainy day, we opted for the round trip, enjoying drinks onboard. Early arrival allowed us to board ahead of schedule. Highly recommended for a concise sightseeing experience, complete with entertaining captain commentary and London's signature sarcasm.

Fantastic views but not too keen on the blatant lies that the tour guide must say multiple times a day “a lady who was just boarding asked if I can point some things out along the way” whilst then asking for tips because he’s not paid to do this!? The bucket was then going up and down and being shaken when leaving the boat seems a bit cheeky.
We stayed on and did the full loop so we heard the same spiel twice which made it obvious it wasn’t genuine what he said when we originally boarded.
The bar is also cash only which in this day and age seems very outdated.

Thames river sightseeing.
A good way to see the sights of the London skyline, all in one go and from a different view to normal. £36 for a family for about ~25mins is a bit steep really (it was 40mins from walking on to getting off but with 3 stops at other docks) but its fairly memorable and the 'guide' was good and funny at pointing out things.
As a tip, do the full end to the river, we got off at tower bridge and most people didnt so think we chose the wrong option!

Very good commentary, and nice to spend a very hot day on the Thames. Now that most places are contactless the ability to tip or add a commentary surcharge to the ticket would have been appreciated as I had no cash. Perhaps a review of the time table as the tour was 1.40pm but left at 2.05pm which was understandable as numbers were low. If I had been aware of the delay would have purchased refreshments as There were no drinks available to purchase onboard and the weather was very hot (28c) I underestimated the tour length which is 2 hours so very hot and thirsty on the return to Westminster Pier.

Our family (dad, mom, two teens) booked the hop-on hop-off cruise for part of our last day in London. We purchased the family pass and ended up on three different boats for each segment we took: Westminster to Greenwich, Greenwich to Tower Bridge, and Tower Bridge to Westminster.
The crew of the first boat gave us all a running commentary of the sights from Westminster to Greenwich, which was informative and entertaining the whole way. Even our teens liked it. Neither of the other two boats had that, but they may only do it in one direction.
The schedules were convenient for us and allowed enough time to see things at each stop in 40-minute segments. For us, Greenwich was a quick 2 hours, and so was the Tower Bridge and the area around the Tower of London (which we didn’t visit because it was too late in the day), so the boat schedule worked well.
It was a cloudy and wet day when we went, but we still enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. It’s definitely worth doing if you have an available afternoon in London.

Just got off the DIsney Cruise to the British Isles. Got a ride into London, but with the current events surrounding the funeral and some sites shut down, we found this Sightseeing Tour on the River Thames. The crew was very welcoming and gave a narration of the sights, and interesting stories and history of places as we floated down the river and back up. Boat has a snack back and clean bathrooms. You can sit upstairs in the open air or down below in enclosed cockpit. We did both as it was a bit chilly in London. We truly recommend this experience to get a general idea of the sights if you have plans and we will do this again next time we're in London with the family. Thanks again for a great experience

I am confused with the duration of the cruise. One sentences says the duration is one hour, but each stop is from 20-40 minutes, so it seems it will take several hours. Which is it? One hour or 2-3 hours? Thank you!

What time is the last boat from Greenwich to Westminster in September?
Written June 6, 2023
If you go to their website, thamesriversightseeing, it has the timetable on it, including details for September. At the moment it says the last trip back from Greenwich is 17.10 but obviously that may change so I'd advise checking the website nearer the time.

How long is the cruise from London to Greenwich? If there are stops is there a boat that goes directly to Greenwich?
Written March 27, 2023
Hour to Greenwich and yes you can get off during the trip. Hour back as well. You have to go on it it’s fantastic. I can’t wait to go again.

There was a toddler on our trip, so I assume the 5-99 is who has to pay! It's a lovely, informative trip, and spacious on the bottom deck
