Continue along the Mall, stopping at different landmarks, and then walk to St. James Palace, where the old Guard arrives for their inspection. Great tour to learn more about Winston Churchill, World War II & London history. Our guide, Beth was brilliant. She kept my 11 & 13 year old engaged the whole time.

    Great tour with fun facts!
Rosie was WONDERFUL for the Secret London Walking Tour! Very knowledgeable about the sites and very friendly. We went to sites that you may see on a typical London walking tour, but the information she shared was unique!

Our third tour with Fun London
Fascinating as always, we’ve walked past so many of these places and not realised their importance or any of the history behind them. Definitely the best way to learn about London. As an added bonus, on a Saturday the City is really quiet so much less traffic and fewer people than in the West End.

Excellent tour of the "Hidden London"
Rachel did a fantastic job leading us on the Hidden London tour. She was very friendly and informative. We enjoyed learning about the lesser known sites and events in London history.

Funny and interesting tour, well worth it!
Rosie, our tour guide, was well-informed, interesting, and took us to some spots we never would have appreciated without some background. My spouse grew up in London, and even he learned a lot from the experience.

Amazing, fantastic and worth every penny.
What an amazing tour with Marnie. I am so sorry it took me so long to rate and review this incredible experience with Marnie. My wife and I toured the Xtra Changing of the Gaurd tour and they were practicing for the King’s birthday. We saw the most incredible sight and Marnie felt like family. She was incredibly knowledgeable and we toured at our own pace. If you want to treat yourself while in London book a tour with these people. You will experience a once in a lifetime experience that you won’t get anywhere else. Thank you Marnie you were the perfect end to a great trip.

    Great tour!
This tour was super cool! Our guide, Jeremy, was quite eccentric, and did a great job keeping the entire tour group engaged. The route had a number of cool landmarks, for which Jeremy provided extensive background and fun facts. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is considering it.

Excellent Rainy day walking tour in London
Emily was wonderful. It was a bit of a rainy day and I ended up being the only person to show up for the tour. She was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of local and historical insights about each location that we stopped at. I highly recommend this walking tour especially if you’re looking for something that’s out of the ordinary tourist activity in London.

Hidden sights of Temple and Fleet Street
A great 1 ½ hour tour even having lived in or near London for decades and knowing it quite well. Emily was a great guide and her knowledge of facts expanded on the less known of the Temple and Fleet Street areas.

Excellent Tour conducted by Matt. It was informative with amusing anecdotes and Matt was good fun and very knowledgeable. Because of the barriers still up for the Jubilee celebrations there were more people in the accessible areas than usual, however Matt explained all of this and went above and beyond by extending the tour slightly and taking us to a good viewing area so that we could see the guards and band marching.
I highly recommend Matt and will use his company again when I am back in London.

It was a joy to take you around! Given the disruption around Buckingham Palace due to the Jubilee it felt right to extend the tour so that you could leave the event with great photos and a close up view of the guards. See you again!

This tour was a lot of fun but be sure to have your walking shoes on and know you will be going at a fast pace once the ceremony starts. There were so many people that signed up for our tour that they had three tour guides. We had Matt who was wonderful. Matt was a lot of fun and I ever saw my 20 something child laugh a few times. Matt also gave us a lot of information and since he has been doing this tour for over 10 years he has learned some insight as to where to go to best see the ceremony. We all met at Piccadilly Circus by the statue and you couldn’t miss them when they showed up. All three were very animated and very inviting. As we walked toward St. James’s Palace they stopped along the way to discuss some interesting facts of places we passed. We then watched the inspection of the old guard before the orchestra came out and played. Matt said they don’t always play music and we were thrilled they did this time. Now comes the part where the good shoes on the participants and a flag being held by Matt came in handy. Just before the old guard headed out of the courtyard we left to position ourselves at the end of the block. The old guard walked straight for us and then we kept pace with them as they walked toward Buckingham Palace. Matt then took us through the park and up on the other side where we saw the new guards coming out from Wellington Barracks. The day we were there the new guards were from Nepal so they were not wearing the regular uniforms we were accustomed to seeing. We then walked through the outskirts of the crowd before ending with a great view of Buckingham Palace. This tour was a great way to see the ceremony without spending 5 hours waiting in line to see one fraction of it. We did not see the part at the actual Palace but Matt told us that the new guards and old guards stand in position looking at each other for 30 minutes once they all get there. If your interested in seeing the final stage you could probably fight the crowds to work your way to the gates. This was perfect for my family who loved the music and seeing them marching and not having to fight the crowds.

Sadly we never got to do this tour. We booked this tour for our last day in London and we were looking forward to it very much after fantastic reviews on here. We waited over 30 minutes till 10 past 10 on a freezing morning at the meeting point and no one arrived for us . We unfortunately never thought to check our emails before we went because we never thought for a minute we would be emailed and cancelled. However on checking we had been emailed and the tour was cancelled less than 1 hour before . The reason being because a staff member had to go off and isolate due to recent Covid exposure.
We are now around 20 months into this pandemic and this should never have happened at this stage. There should have been a standby member of staff ready for this type of situation especially for a company like this in a city like this. The company will know staff have to isolate at short notice, this is nothing new now. This was such a let down. The company will also be well aware most people are in London for a set amount of time only and probably won't be coming back soon if ever. This to us is another company using the pandemic as an excuse for bad service and it is now a very poor excuse for letting people down .
So if you book this tour do be aware there is a possibility no one will turn up and that you could be let down in the last hour. Companies need to step up now, the Covid excuses are not good enough anymore.

I am deeply upset by your review and find it astonishing that you would suggest that we would use Covid as 'an excuse'. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, and our guide was told to self isolate by the NHS app one hour before the tour. She would have been breaking the law and potentially exposing you to a deadly virus should she have led the tour. How on earth you can suggest that me cancelling the tour was the wrong decision is beyond me. Unfortunately we didn't have another guide available at such short notice. It was Thanksgiving Week and as such our guides were busy working elsewhere, otherwise we would have found someone for you. We emailed you as soon as we could, then tried to call you, but you had given us an incorrect phone number so what else could we do? As a small company we try to provide the best customer service and deeply care about everyone who comes on our tours. And this makes it all the more upsetting when someone writes a negative review because we did the right thing in a middle of a pandemic.

The "Changing of the Guard Guided Walking Tour in London" was entertaining as well as interesting and our guide Rachel was fabulous! She gave us insights and additional information not only about the Changing of the Guard procedure but also about London, its places and its history. We highly recommend this tour, our family of 4 (2 adults, age 45 and 46 + 2 kids, age 12 and 15) had a wonderful time - the highlight for the kids of course was the music the marching band played at St James's Palace, as it was a medley with songs from STAR WARS :-)

There's so much to do in London, it can be overwhelming. My family (2 adults, 3 kids) really wanted to see the changing of the guards, but had heard that it's mostly sitting around and waiting for a couple of hours. With 3 kids, in the cold? Nope. Luckily I found Fun London tours, who offered a walking tour of the changing of the guards, and it was perfect. Rachel was our guide, and she was super enthusiastic and informative. Not only did she take us to several wonderful spots to watch the guards, but we got to chase them down the street (kids loved it!). She explained the history of the practice, told us about the uniforms, and as a bonus she told us about the nearby memorials and statues. All 5 of us enjoyed this tour, even my husband the reluctant tourist and my 7 year old son, who "hates walking". Thanks, Rachel!

Mike gave us an incredible experience on a recent Monday morning. He is just about the most entertaining and informative tour guide it has been our pleasure to meet. He provided us with all the royal history of England we would need to understand and appreciate what we would see as we witnessed the most important aspects of this old and honored tradition. We took this tour early during our visit to London so we were very well prepared to visit other sights such as the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey. He is also commended for looking after our group and keeping us together and well situated as we moved through large crowds. Thank you, Mike, for a delightful morning!!

Did the changing of the guard tour in November with Mike - unfortunately it was a little wet with weather and they ended up doing a wet change/cancelled the usual event. Mike, our guide, was still full of information and even offered us the opportunity to come another day (we couldn't) because we missed out on the actual experience. Would recommend 10/10 and would try again, the only thing I'd do differently is book on an earlier day of the trip so if/when it gets rained out, could go again

Trip description is exactly what happens during the tour. Our guide was extremely informative and kept our group moving to get to different vantage points. Very interesting to hear stories about the past and see the different spots that aren’t typically known to be part of the changing process. I do, however, wish I more closely read the description as you don’t get close enough to see what happens at Buckingham Palace. London wasn’t busy when we traveled - so crowds weren’t a problem so wish we were closer to seeing what is traditionally thought of as the changing ceremony at Buckingham. As you’ll see from pictures - close to marching but not at Buckingham.

Hi Cheryl I'm glad you enjoyed the tour but am rather frustrated that you decided to penalise us on the basis that you hadn't read our tour description properly and that it was 'exactly as described' ! I personally have spent a great deal of time ensuring the description is crystal clear so as to avoid any confusion. When you get a moment, do take some time to check out our video on YouTube which explains what the ceremony is like if you did spend your time at Buckingham Palace at the gates rather than being on a tour and then hopefully you will consider amending your review.

Andy's love of British military history really shines as he explains the details of the changing guard. He taught us so much: how the bear fur hats became part of the uniform, how the pageantry of the Changing is different from the daily guard changes, that there are different regiments that serve. He got us to the best viewing spot every time and shared interesting facts along the way. Funny and approachable, great with the kids in the group. He was the best!

Our guide Matt was knowledgeable and friendly. He carefully guided us around key points of the changing of the guard which gave us an excellent view of the staging of both the old and new guard. We had a front row view and at points where we were waiting for things to happen, Matt entertained us and made sure we were able to ask questions and provided really interesting detail.
