Stop your research now and book this tour. Going with a small group is hands down the way to do this trip. A larger bus like Evan Evans cannot go to the same places, and you waste so much less time waiting for people or waiting for everyone to board/disembark the bus. We were in a very comfortable van with huge windows. Our tour guide Johnny was AMAZING--he absolutely helped make the trip what is was.

A word to the wise: do not book with Evan Evans tours. They do not guarantee their trips will run, and in fact, they canceled on us. On the other hand, The English Bus guarantees that if you book, the tour will go. Obviously, this makes a huge difference when you're in a foreign country, often without good internet to make alternative plans. And it happened to us. The English Bus trip was perfect. The itinerary was smart in that not too much was included, so we actually had time to see the places we went extensively. The secret place was incredible! Trust me, this was not some gimmick or a roadside attraction. It was a full stop that was perhaps the highlight of the tour. And honestly, after planning our 12 day trip in great detail, it was nice to be surprised for a small piece of it. Other trips that have 4 or more stops do not give you enough time to see everything. This trip is perfectly structured. If you are only budgeting one day to get outside of London on your trip, this is absolutely the tour to do it with. And you will be supporting a great small business that was hard hit during the pandemic. So book this tour, feel great about it, and be ready for an experience that will exceed your expectations.

Hi Daniel, A very belated thanks for your wonderful review - we are delighted you enjoyed the tour with Johny so much - and I'm sorry you had a negative experience with a different company. As a small business we really value each and every customer - we know your time is extremely important. Thanks again for travelling with us - we'd love to welcome you back one day on one of our other tours. All the best, Chris The English Bus

We booked this day tour upon recommendation from my parents, and I'm so glad we did as it ended up being our favorite of our entire Europe trip. Our tour guide was Lilly, who was so incredibly insightful, funny, helpful, and kind. She did a fantastic job of providing facts and info about each stop and giving recommendations, while also allowing all guests time to wander and explore on their own. I can't recommend this company enough if you're spending any amount of time in London - it was the best!

Hello, Thank you so much for joining us on a recent tour - and we are thrilled to hear that your parents recommendation was a good one!! Lilly is a wonderful guide, who is indeed funny, insightful and kind - she can't wait to share her knowledge with you. We like to balance the time for our guests with guided portions and some free time to explore - so it's great that you found the balance right. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back on another of our tours one day. Check our website for details of our other offerings. Many thanks, Jen

June 15th, my husband and I had the immense fortune and pleasure to be on tour with The English Bus in the company of a few other families. It was a very cute bus, very clean, and super comfortable. Best of all was our beautiful guide and driver Lilly who took us to Bath, Stonehenge and a "secret" place! Lilly was very friendly, considerate, humorous, and knowledgeable. She made each of us (I certainly did) feel welcome and seen. I loved how she told us histories of places (some were lores, I think) we passed by with just the right amount of levity injected to make the whole company roll with laughter. She was always reminding us of where the washrooms (toilet in the UK) were at every stop, inquiring if we needed to have a washroom break, and letting us know many times where to meet up again at the end of the stop before letting us go off on our own. It's been almost two weeks, but every time I view our photos, I am filled with the warmth and enjoyment that day brought to our vacation in London.
I hope we get Lilly the next time we drop by for another out of town foray. Love that gal!

Our guide, Andy, did a wonderful job of both driving and giving us a guided tour from London to Stonehenge and on to Bath. He was cheerful and knowledgable about both the English culture and history. The timing of our arrival at Stonehenge allowed us to see it before the larger motor coaches arrived which was nice. Our 16-passenger mini-coach was comfortable and the smaller group size made it a more personal journey. We stopped at the Secret Destination later in the day and it was definitely worth the stop. I would highly recommend everything about this tour and our driver.

We were very skeptical at first booking this tour because we saw that they only had extremely good reviews... we totally get why, now! This tour was amazing, Lilly was incredible. We cannot say enough good things about Lilly, she was funny, generous with her knowledge, helpful and the nicest. She perfectly maneuvered London traffic, tree tunnels and picking the perfect "secret spot", her recommendations of what to do in Bath were spot on. This was a long day packed with so many things to do and learn and time honestly flew by. Stonehenge was also incredible and Lilly made that so easy. We cannot recommend The English Bus and Lilly enough to anyone that asks - this is definitely a must do tour!

Had the pleasure of taking the Stonehenge, Bath, and Secret Place Tour with Johny Davies. Would highly recommend a small group tour like this over one of the larger companies (made the regrettable decision of booking a tour with one of them as well). First, the bus itself is very comfortable. Since they do not pack as many stops as the tours that also stop at Windsor Castle, you get a more thorough visit that is longer and you don’t feel rushed. Although going to all these places is amazing in its own right - the history, architecture, beautiful countryside, etc., Johny really brought the whole experience together. He’s an incredibly funny (your was like a comedy show) and knowledgeable guide who really went out of his way to ensure that we all had an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend the English Bus company and would definitely suggest booking a tour with Johny, you won’t regret it!

Hello Stutee, Thank you very much for your review. Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your time on tour with Johny so much, and great to hear you appreciated the small size of the group - as you discovered it makes a huge amount of difference. Despite many requests, as you mention we don't try and cram Windsor into this tour - it would make each stop so rushed it would ruin the tour and your enjoyment of the sights. Thanks again for joining us - we'd love to welcome you back one day. All the best, Chris The English Bus

If you are researching English bus tours, your search is over. The English Bus is THE BEST! We visited Bath, Stonehenge, and a lovely little secret place tailored to our group. Our tour guide Lilly was knowledgeable, funny, charming, witty, and compassionate. She has definitely found her calling! Along our journey, she shared interesting facts and details about what we would be experiencing so that when we got off the bus we all had background knowledge and information to enhance our tour. The buses only hold 16 passengers so this created a very intimate and personalized experience. The small bus also made it possible for us to go to places where the big buses could not.
An important note: our bus was the last at Stonehenge at the end of the day. We were back on our bus a little before 6:00pm. While Lilly was explaining drop off procedures, the Golden Tours Bus parked next to us left at exactly 6:00pm. A few minutes later a couple arrived in the tour bus parking lot looking concerned and worried. Lilly went out to help them, and when it was clear that Golden Tours was not going to help their passengers, Lilly asked us if we would mind if they returned to London with us since we had 2 open seats. If Lilly had not taken the time to help them, they would have been stranded over 100 miles away from London with no way back for the evening.
This family-owned company proved their compassion and care for their customers exceeded their competition. The English Bus and Lilly deserve 10 out of 5 stars. If you chose them, you will not be disappointed.

Hello FlyingPiper! Wow. Thank you for such an effusive review about your tour with us and Lilly! She has found her calling indeed, and we have loved working with her over the last 5 years! Wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed your experience on tour with us - we hope you have great memories of your tour for many years to come - hopefully you might be able to join one of our other tour routes one day too. Oh and as for the stranded passenger rescue - we have lost count of how many we have rescued who have been abandoned by the big tour companies over the years, it's lucky we were there to help and very kind of Lily to offer as well. Thanks again for joining us - we hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to England as much as you did the tour. All the best, Chris The English Bus

If you are looking to get out of London and explore more of England, this is the company to use. We originally booked this tour in 2020, but kept the credit until we could find the right time to return to the UK. Rescheduling was a breeze and communication was always quick and responsive. Tony was our guide and he was great. Really provided a great experience. The busses are top notch and comfortable as well. We stayed near Waterloo station, so finding the pickup was easy. Tony was able to drop us and another couple off at a station close to the Piccadilly line, so that we could get up to Piccadilly easily on the Tube for dinner. They are really a well run company with great guides.

Hi, Thank you so much for joining us - and for your kind words. We are delighted that we finally got to meet you after the pandemic delayed things a bit. I'm glad you found it easy to rebook your tour with us, and that Tony was a great guide - we agree. We are very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The English Bus. Waterloo is a fabulous place to stay - and super close to one of our departure points, so that worked well!! Thank you for choosing to travel with us, and we hope to welcome you back for another tour one day. Check our website for all the details of our other offerings... All the best, Jen

Our guided trip to Stonehenge, Bath, and a secret place was fantastic. On a previous trip to the UK, we booked a tour of London with a different small company. We thought they were pretty good, but the English Bus are simply playing in a different league altogether.

The first thing that jumps out at you is how nice and comfortable the bus is itself. This isn't a repurposed public transit bus or school bus. The seats are fully adjustable and even after being on the bus for several hours I never had any aches and pains. There is individual climate control for each seat and the bus has great panoramic windows. The sound system on the bus also ensures that you can actually hear what the guide was saying.

The star of the day was our tour guide Andy. I was impressed immediately when he gave us facts about and descriptions of the different roads, buildings, and boroughs that we passed on our way out of the city. He was very personable and funny and engaged with all of us guests on a personal level.

As the day went on Andy continued to impress us with his knowledge of the history of England and how that related to what we were visiting. I feel like I actually learned something today, which I honestly wasn't expecting.

At the end of the night Andy made sure that all the guests were dropped off at places convenient to getting home. I can't imaging any other company ever taking that kind of care and attention to its customers. It was truly exceptional.

Beyond the tour itself, I want to say that the English Bus has been a joy to work with. Our trip with them was originally scheduled for May of 2020. Obviously, the pandemic interfered with that, but Chris and Jen at the English Bus worked with me to reschedule with no problem. Not just once but several times. Our trip went from May 2020 to October 2020 to May 2021 and finally to October 2021. Every single time I dealt with rescheduling they were understanding and worked with me. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate that. It certainly wasn't true of other companies that I dealt with during the pandemic.

This is a great company that offers a great service. Small, personable guided tours of the English countryside that you just couldn't get with anyone else. I highly recommend booking with them.

Hi Matt, Thank you so much for your wonderful review - after the last 18 months the travel and tourism industry has been through it makes a huge difference to us reading, again, how much our guests have been enjoying our small group tours. Andy is a fantastic guide who we have had the pleasure of working with for many years now and he certainly delivers an amazing unforgettable tour experience. To hear that you consider us to be playing in a "different league altogether" is superb, and makes us very proud of the job we do and the hard work we put in to get there. Delighted that you liked our tour vehicle - we have them specially built from new for us and we specify all the interior ourselves to maximise guest comfort. It was heart-breaking to see them sat there during the covid lockdowns but it is very exciting to be back on the road now - we love what we do and I think that shows in the services that we deliver. Also very happy to have been flexible with your arrangements. We understand that the pandemic has ruined so many people's travel plans so we are only too happy to help guests rearrange however many times they need. Thanks again for your kind words - we hope that you enjoy the rest of your time in London and we hope to see you again one day on one of our other tours. All the best, Chris & all of us at The English Bus

I’d highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Johny, was a font of knowledge. Strontium dating teeth. Radiocarbon dating hazelnut shells. Train tunnel design. Odd stories about Duchess Catherine. A slightly off color joke about Prince Phillip. Driving through an Royal Army base. *All* the latest Stonehenge geekery. He was thoroughly entertaining - lively, energetic, fun - from beginning to end.

The “secret place” was a big question mark for us. My wife and I are cynical people, and this stunk of a tour company marketing opportunity. Our worries were unfounded. If you’re going because you’re interested in Stonehenge, you’ll LOVE the secret place.

The bus is small but modern and comfortable. The amount of time we spent at each location was less than we would’ve preferred but made sense give the schedule we were trying to accomplish. You’re visiting three massively important sites in one day — it’s going to be a bit rushed.

By the way, if you want to tour the Roman baths, send them an email to ask when your group will arrive so that you can book your tickets. Tickets aren’t included in the tour. They’re very helpful about it. We got there on time and walked right into the museum. Others on the tour didn’t do this and weren’t so lucky.

Overall, A+. Good stuff. Would go again.

Hi Russell, Thank you for your review! We are delighted you had such a great time on tour with Johny and enjoyed the secret place he took you to - we have a few different sites we choose from, and it's up to the guide on the day as to where they go - so I'm glad Johny hit a "home run" with yours! We too are cynical, but we've been running a variation of this tour for 10+ years now and in that time we have really learnt what works best with our guests. Thank you again for joining us - as a small family run business trying to get going again after a 2 year covid related closure it is very exciting and a huge honour to be welcoming back guests from all corners of the world. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in London, All the best, Chris & all of us at The English Bus
