What to expect
Meet your guide and small group in Central London. Admire such attractions as St. Paul's Cathedral and a one-time Shakespearian playhouse while walking toward your first stop. Order a pint (own expense) in Blackfriars, one of London's oldest pubs, frequented by many members of London's banking industry who work nearby. Listen as your guide recounts tales of the local neighborhood. Then, head to Fleet Street, famously the center of Britain's journalism industry, for a drink at a local boozer. Afterward, slip down a side street into a 17th-century pub. Choose from a wide selection of ales and ciders on tap (own expense) and hear tales of the literary greats who frequented that very space—Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Charles Dickens, and Alfred Tennyson, to name just a few. Myself, my wife, and our moms all thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It is a fantastic way to visit some great pubs, and to learn some quirky history about London. The groups are kept small enough that the tour feels more like a group of friends visiting the pub than it does a tour.

I'm sure the pubs visited vary on each tour, but you are certain to visit some truly historic and culturally important pubs, with time enough to enjoy a pint in each one. Or two, if you're quick enough. You'll learn about the history of the pub, or the building it's in, perhaps a ghost story or two, and tales of famous customers who may (or may not) have frequented the pub in days gone by.

Our guide, Kevin, was superb. Full of insight into the history of pub culture, the quirky history of the locations visited, and more than willing to answer any questions, or just have a friendly chat over a pint. A lovely bloke, even if he is an Arsenal supporter.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, especially to those with in an interest in pub culture, or even an interest in the history of London in general. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon in London.

What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon in London. We were given this as a gift and the whole booking experience was seamless John send confirmation and all the details we needed to enjoy our afternoon. Our tour guide Dave was amazing, he was witty, funny but so knowledgeable he took us to some amazing pubs with great beer telling us interesting facts and funny stories about the pubs history. Dave interacted really well with all of our group, ranging from oldies like us to young couples on holiday from far away shores. Dave gave each couple the time to ask questions and he answered them all expertly! Book this tour if you want to find and visit pubs off the tourist spots and really enjoy the history behind them. You may be lucky enough to have Dave as your guide a really lovely afternoon. Thanks Dave Tania and Steve.

I’ve never really been someone that likes beer to begin with so I thought that this tour was a bit of a risk for me, but I was pleasantly surprised! Although it is designed as a Liquid History tour, you don’t have to drink if you don’t want to. The walk is approximately 2 miles, but it doesn’t seem that long as you are stopping quite consistently along the way. Each of the pubs that we stopped at was unique and had their own interesting little historical tidbits. I loved hearing that this tour is versatile with a list of about 50 pubs that your can go and visit on trips with them again later! Our tour guide, Chris, was just an absolute delight. Not only because of the witty tongue-in-cheek humor that he maintained through the tour, but also because of how genuine he was. It was apparent that he really enjoys these pubs, the industry, and sharing them with others. More over, I think this tour has a little extra charm because Chris took the time to answer any questions we had about the city, the pubs, activities, directions, etc.; to really ensure the we all were going to have a great time in London. I highly recommend for anyone to just have a light hearted afternoon walking around (if possible, have Chris as your guide). I will definitely be back!

The best part about the tour was how well the group bonded throughout the excursion. We had people from Denmark, America, India, and Canada, and the dynamics within the group were very positive. Our tour guide, Wil, took us on a behind-the-scenes street tour to show us out of the way places we would never have found in our own, and he took the time to sit and visit with each person individually—recommending other haunts and must-sees throughout the city.

Tour was booked as a surprise by a friend for myself and 5 others nearly 2 years ago and pushed back and back due to covid. Finally managed to get a date booked in with my girl friends, we had Will who was great informative at the right pitch for the mix of group to both British and over seas visitors, never felt rushed to drink up and Will made sure he got round and spoke to all of the group. Thank you Will for a lovely couple of hours

As an ex History teacher and with an interest in beer and the old pubs of London, (of which I had very little knowledge ),this was a fantastic way to spend a Friday afternoon amidst the buzz of the City. Hats off to our Guide, Kevin, whose humour knowledge and presentation skills made everyone feel relaxed and at home.
I've led loads of groups of adults and kids around places like my home city of Liverpool ,Manchester and The Western Front .It was obvious he had done his research and had a love for, and interest in, the subject matter.
The group had a real mix of people from all over the World (in fact, my son and I were the only Brits there) and we all had a great time. Plus, I was the only other Kevin present!
We started at St Pauls at 2 and finished in The Olde Cheshire Cheese ,off Fleet Street, at 5.30 (what an amazing, iconic pub that is!)
In fact, we stayed on drinking in the Cheese with a hearty group of friendly American tourists and even went on to have a few more drinks at the nearby Seven Stars. We had such a good time we hadn't realised that it was nearly ten o clock when we got on the Tube back for the Hotel !

Not sure what the collective noun for a group of Kevin's is, but we'll do some further research over a pint or three. Cheers to you!

This was an overall wonderful experience and everything that I didn't know I wanted/needed in a pub tour. Dave was hilarious, his comedic timing was unmatched, and it felt as if he tailored the stories and jokes to the group (even if it was his standard spiel, it didn't feel that way). Our group felt that it was the perfect mix of history and anecdotes. We had done another tour the day prior that was more formal and history-based, so it was very fun to hear similar information with a different twist.

There is quite a lot of walking (it is a walking tour, of course), but at no point did I feel hustled, rushed, or that we were struggling to keep up.

It’s also good to note that there was no point along this tour that I felt pressure to drink at the pubs. Often on pub tours/bar crawls, there is pressure to imbibe at each stop, but that was not the case at all. We could order an alcoholic beverage, non-alcoholic beverage, or nothing at all, and it didn’t matter. It was nice to be able to patronize local establishments as well as try their different offerings.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting London, and I will look to rebook on my next holiday as I have no doubt it would be a blast.

I treated my friend to the Liquid London Pub tour for her birthday in September, I enjoyed this tour some years earlier but for my friend it was her first guided tour. We both thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon, it was the perfect balance in terms of learning about historical buildings and enjoying drinks in some fine pubs that were steeped in history. The tour guide, Mark Wimmers, was wonderful, his knowledge knew no bounds and I loved the way that he introduced a blend of humour and fascinating insight into the history of this great city. Mark was a brilliant charasmatc tour guide, if only my history teachers at school had made my lessons as interesting as Mark did I might have left with a decent history grade. Thank you for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Karl

Our excellent guide, Kevin, took us through 'old' City of London's landmarks and 4 of its very different but all significant pubs and their famous patrons. 3 of those 4, (the Blackfriar, The Punch, The Old Bank of England) I will definitely be re-visiting.

For anyone concerned, it's not a grueling walk. Even for me, with a dodgy knee, on a hot day (28C), it wasn't taxing and we frequently stopped to listen to the guide (in the shade). It's not a pub crawl either; pub stops are long enough for 1 pint, unless you're really going for it, and no obligation to do so either. We had a very civilised group. 🙂

I visit London every year or two and always look for a new way to explore with any kind of active guided tour that isn't a bus tour. London Kayak Company, Thames Rockets (or others) RIB tours and Fat Tire Bike tours are all very good and this Liquid Tours pub tour now sits with those on my list of favourites.

It all made me think how pubs are so much part of our culture and we need to cherish them. Use 'em or lose 'em as the saying goes.

Great way to spend a few hours in this historic part of London usually not explored.

Cheers 🍻

This tour was SO fun, and absolutely worth it. Dave! What an engaging, charismatic fellow. An absolute gem of a tour guide. We found him waiting for the group with his French bulldog Archie and I immediately thought to myself “Now this looks like a proper pub tour guide.” An Irishman with a sharp sense of humor and clearly seasoned giving these tours as he immediately could tell who was part of the tour: a fun mix of both tourists, locals, solo travelers, couples, and friend duos.

This is not a just a drinking tour. It is one rife with history courtesy of Dave, who not only had a ton of interesting info to share (history, fun facts, etc.) but presented it in such a way that made it so incredibly entertaining. He’s just so vibrant and funny…like that cool teacher from school that makes learning fun.

We covered a lot of ground…6 pubs, each one was an excellent choice. They ran the gamut in vibe, from more traditional pub to our last stop at a tavern. It was cold out but between the pit stops and Dave’s engaging approach, I soon forgot about the chill factor.

Loved this experience in every way. Afterwards, I was also pleasantly surprised by personal touches like a message directly from Dave thanking me and offering further recommendations if needed. I actually took him up on his offer and he gave me a TON of great suggestions, many of which I am carrying over to my return trip.

Cannot say enough: bravo Liquid History Tour, thank you for making my 1st trip to London so memorable.
