- 967Blossom9670 contributionsNot to be missed!Only found out about this a few days before our visit to Liverpool. Didn't book as couldn't be sure of arrival time and also wanted to see what the weather was like. Turned up and were able to get tickets and were taken up, and entertained, by the lovely Dan - a man who clearly enjoys his job, his enthusiasm came over so strongly. In the event we were lucky with the weather and had superb views all over Liverpool and over to New Brighton and beyond. Because of this we took the metro out to New Brighton the following day because we could see the dome of SS Peter&Paul from the Liver building and wanted to see more. If you are in Liverpool this is not to be missed. Oh and the stairs aren't anywhere near as bad as the website suggests.Written January 16, 2025
- NeilKelly770 contributionsIconic buildingOne of the Three Graces, The Royal Liver Building is an iconic structure, the most beautiful and famous structure in the city, the tour is so informative, the views from above are spellbinding its just a building that offers so much ,one of the best tours of a buiding I've done in the United Kingdom. Most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a trip to Liverpool.Written November 6, 2024
- Syko19690 contributionsEpic views across the whole of LiverpoolWhat a fabulous tour, the views a top of the Liver Building are stunning, even for someone whose a afraid of heights. Standing on the 15th floor, just below the Liver Bird should be on everyone's bucket list. Meg our tour guide was brilliant, she made the tour extra special with her vast amount of knowledge and epic humour. This is a must for everyone.Written November 4, 2023

- holiday0320 contributionsA very enjoyable tour so interesting and informative! We really enjoyed our tour of the Liver building and found it to be extremely interesting and informative. The story of Bella and Bertie and the man who made them Carl Bernard Bartels was so very sad and that is what I’m going to take away from the tour. Our guide was very informative and friendly and it was a pleasure to be allowed up on the roof with those amazing views and a real bonus to hear the magnificent bells ring. The video that was played was very surreal and emotive. This tour is a must in my opinion while in this lovely city.Written September 27, 2023
- chriscouldridge0 contributionsIdeal first stop on a Liverpool sightseeing itineraryThis was a perfect way to start my sightseeing tour of Liverpool. I was lucky enough to be the only person on the tour (I was there early morning). Meg was a fantastic guide, really friendly and a great ambassador for Liverpool. Despite the challenging weather conditions she pointed out many of the points of interest that I then went on to visit later during my stay in Liverpool. She was also great at answering my questions and made the experience really fun and interesting. Would definitely recommend this tour as a first stop for any first-timers to the city.Written September 23, 2023
- B5661HDjamesd0 contributionsReally De-LiversThe Liver Building is a very impressive feat of engineering and a great point of reference for visitors to the city. The Liver birds are majestic as they keep watch over the people of Liverpool and the docks.Written September 21, 2023
- permia0 contributionsSpectacular edificeIt’s a beautiful building. With its two neighbours, the Three Graces are marvellously in a line by the waterfront. Completed in 1911 it was the headquarters of the eponymous Assurance Company that was established in 1850. One of its most famous aspects is the duo of Liver Birds at each pinnacle. A symbol of the great city they are a frequent motif to be seen.Written September 16, 2023

- RLMells0 contributionsFantastic tourHad a fantastic tour of the Royal Liver Building. We prebooked our tour online, which was really easy. When we arrived we were the only people in that slot. So it was like having a private tour. Our guide was Charlie was brilliant, very knowledgeable and friendly. Gave us fantastic facts about the building and the surrounding area. As the guides etc tell you there are a lot of stairs to climb, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. There are opportunities to pause along the way. What a view from the top, that panoramic view of Liverpool and the Wirral is amazing. And of course being able to see Bertie closer than ground level.Written April 10, 2023
- 337Jan0 contributionsGreat view!If all you want is a view of the city then there are cheaper options such as the Anglican Cathedral Tower but this offers more information and an amazing video in the room where the clock mechanisms are. It is very atmospheric. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly but spoke a bit too fast in the echoey areas. . Well worth £16.Written March 30, 2023

- I9504DJstephenj0 contributionsRBL360That building. Lots of stairs but worth it for the views. An interesting and informative movie in the clock tower itself. Take your camera.Written January 29, 2023
- Leytongirl990 contributionsA true Liverpool landmarkThe entrance is through the basement of the building, on the river side. We were greeted by friendly staff who gave us a brief history of the building. Then, up in the lift to one of the towers. The views are amazing. It was very windy, so take an extra layer. Then we went inside the area behind the clock faces for a very impressive presentation. All the time the guide was answering questions and ensuring we were having a good time. There are some steps involved in the visit, so if you have mobility issues, please check before you book.Written January 2, 2023

Visited the Royal Liver Building 360 tour on Wednesday morning. It's so easy to buy a ticket which I thought were reasonably priced and the tours started every 30 mins. What a great experience, the tour guide was knowledgeable and informative, the views were outstanding and you got a real sense of the history of the city. I was fortunate the the sun was shining so the views were spectacular, so got some great snaps / videos. A thoroughly enjoyable visit, thank you.

What an experience a lovely warm welcome on entering the building from the staff on reception. We were Introduced to our guide Andy who was excellent. He explained in detail the tour itinerary and asked if everyone was willing and able to climb the spiral staircase, offering stops on route. Very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The views at the top of this were amazing showing the city and beyond what a view. The audio visual show is out of this world and if your a local tugs at your heart strings. Would 100% recommend a visit to this iconic building. Thanks to all the team. For a memorable experience.

Seeing the Three Graces of Liverpool, one of which is the Royal Liver Building, was always one of my top draws to the city and they are together arguably the single most iconic sight in the whole city. They line the core of the waterfront and present a very majestic sight. I was very happy to discover that the Royal Liver Building offers a tour which takes you to the top of one of its towers. The tour starts in the small visitor centre and gift shop in the basement and includes a discussion of the history and architecture of the building. It then goes to the roof top for views of the towers and some views of the city, before ending up at the top of the tower facing the waterfront, which provides outstanding views of the city and the waterfront, across the river to Birkenhead, along with close views of the massive Liver Bird statutes at the top.
The views are outstanding and the tour guide (I can't remember his name) was wonderful. He provided a lot of interesting information and was extremely friendly, engaging, and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this for an up-close experience of one of the the most iconic parts of Liverpool.

Doing the tourist gig in your (husband's) home town sometimes provides a special surprise - the Liver Building 360 tour and experience is one suvh surprise. Our excellent tour guide (Andy) brought it to life with his knowledge and enthusiasm and the time flew. There are a number ofnstairs to get to the upper levels but not arduous (short flights) and worth the effort. The digital show in the clock tower was fantastic and deserved the applause from the group. Reasonably priced and flexible booking process (we changed twice due to weather and they were so accommodating). This was one of the highlights of our Liverpool trip....make it a must do if you visit.

Absolutely amazing !!!
The views we got of the entire city, surrounding areas, North Wales and even as far as Bolton's Winter Hill were just incredible.
The back story of the building of the Royal Liver Buildings was really interesting, as well as the clock and let's not forget the birds themselves, Bella and Bertie.
As Liverpool born and bred, the movie you are shown inside the Clock Room brought me to tears and made me unbelievably proud to be from this amazing city. Visitors not from the city who were also on the tour said exactly the same.
I can highly recommend this tour not only to fellow scousers, but also to anybody visiting the city.
You won't be disappointed....just make sure you have an empty camera, as you just take pic after pic.
Easy 5 stars!

We paid fir an experience not just a view which we got from the Mersey ferry that morning which was much better. Biggest problem was the tall angry man doing the tour. He had only five of us and spoke so quickly I asked could he slow down as English was not our first language and with the strong Liverpool accent hard to make out at times. He stopped for a moment continued and realised he was repeating the same thing he had learnt off by heart babble babble babble I asked do this was set up as a funeral arrangement place yes and he continued o talk fast no help for the other man with me who couldn’t understand anything I whispered I will try to translate some but I myself couldn’t catch what he was saying so fast and low I asked would he mind speaking slower as English wasn’t everyone’s first language and a little slower. Then He began the tour shouting at the top of his voice very uncomfortable but he must of thought I show them. He was expressionless I passionate about his job our feeling. He seemed to be remembering everything he had learnt but had no interest in smiling just revenge for asking for assistance thé clock was amazing insude due to the wonderful video which started with two videos playing oh it almost was making up fir the steps we had to climb which were steep and scary if you don’t like heights. When one video stopped working so it continued as a normal video so dussapointing the double video show had started gave us a taste of brilliance then he said hope you enjoyed it sorry about the video it happens now and agsin that one stops working ah well let’s go onwards to the final 15 steps the top floor. Here he really shouted as he stood beside me which was really reduculious and almost made a fool of himself as the other older two ladies knew exactly how childish he had been trying to make his point that perhaps we where deaf. It spoilt the whole experience having a motionless unprofessional tour guide with a beautiful potentially brilliant video show half working. Views lovely weather was super bell rang which was nice to hear while up there clock room all worth it but not with the tall young Curley haired man ask for another more sensitive Orr professional guide would I do it agsin no bad experience scary broken video staff need training on awareness of tourists visiting not just locals or uk people. My advice take a photo instead

This is a most interesting tour with history, magnificent views and great animation. The iconic Liver Building and the famous Liver Birds are brought to life very skilfully. The staff and the guide were so helpful and cheerful. They took good care of our small group. There are quite a few winding steps to climb so it’s not recommended if you have mobility issues, but otherwise I would say go. You will be glad you did.
The only reason I have not rated it “excellent” is because I think that local families on low incomes would find it expensive. They should consider reduced prices for people in that category. It would be very enjoyable for kids.
A tip: book direct on the official website to avoid booking fees.

I had been told that this was now possible to go to the top so I booked the night before. Groups are limited in size but i had no problem to book for the next morning even though space said limited on the site.
Booked on the 1030 tour we arrived as asked 15 minutes early, and once showed our tickets took in the information before our guide arrived (sorry I cant remember your name but you were ultra informative and kept everything relevant and upbeat!).
After the safety video and some information on the building we went up in lifts so far, you then have your first chance for pictures overlooking the Mersey. After a few minutes up the stairs (they're not that bad, the video makes it look like your climbing Everest, we had some older people in our group who were took the steps no problem, compared to Big Ben or some castles across the country its fairy steady going).
There's an excellent video projection in the clock room that I wont spoil. Then its back up to the top of the Liver building for 360 views across the area. Has to be one of the best viewpoints on Merseyside if not the North West. Looking over the Wirral to Wales or towards the Pennines, or across Liverpool, outstanding views and you will get the best pictures (Weather being clear).
My 13 year old said it was the highlight of his trip to Liverpool and its something that if you live close by or are visiting from afar is totally a must do experience that adds that extra cherry to visiting a great city.

Came on this tour on a whim because the Radio City building was closed Mon - Friday and thought we were just paying to go to the top and see the views so didn’t expect a guided tour, but we were pleasantly surprised.
I can’t remember our guides name (tall guy with brown bobbed hair and glasses) was absolutely fantastic and seemed so passionate about his job and had so many interesting facts about the building and Liverpool in general and really made the experience.
I will admit I had low expectations going into what they call the visual immersive experience in the clocktower but that 5-10 minute video was actually amazing and better than most films i’ve seen recently and think it would be so great for children
Go on the warmest day on your trip and prepare for all the stairs!

I love the story of the Liver bird statues at the top having to face away from each other, or they will fall in love and fly off, never to return. The old cunard building is beautiful. At the moment, there are a lot of roadworks going on outside by the waterfront/mersey.
