- LJ A0 contributionsWonderful Beatles time capsuleThe Beatles Story Museum in Liverpool, located at the Albert Docks, is a fascinating collection of items and insights concerning the Fab Four from their meeting and through their times together. There is a nice audio explanation for various stations along the exhibit, which are well done (although slightly disjointed at a couple of stops). There are re-creations of the Cavern Club, recording studios and John’s White Room. All-in-all this is a fun museum and one of those have-to-do-it for Beatles fans which visiting Liverpool.Written September 18, 2024
- hannahbI4508PO0 contributionsGreat for the super fanI took my family who are from the USA and are original Beatles fans. They really enjoyed the experience. I am not a Beatles super fan so for me it was more about finding out more. The musue is small and cramped and in many areas too many people to stay in the area and listen to the audio. I found at times the audio didn’t link with the area I was in so found it difficult to understand. This being said we attended in international Beatles week so maybe the wrong week to choose!Written August 24, 2024
- CharltonCharles0 contributionsAlrightWhilst I did enjoy the tour, having spent two hours around it, I don't think it was worth the £20 admission fee. £10-15 would have been more appropriate for the experience. Whilst there was some cool pieces such as George Harrisons first guitar; I just found that even with the timed tickets there was points where I felt cramped due to a lot of people being in quite small and narrow hallways or rooms. Granted this can't exactly be helped by the age of the building, not exactly much room to sort something like that. As others have mentioned as well, the audio track didn't always properly sync up the with the exhibition sections themselves. With the general audio of the exhibition also being rather loud when trying to listen to the audio guide. I was also a bit disappointed by the merch, with it being quite generic. It was still enjoyable, just not something that when I return to Liverpool I will ever feel the need to go through again.Written July 2, 2024
- fraserm6800 contributionsWe loved it yeah , yeah, yeah.Great location for visiting many other attractions in Liverpool. Really good balance of what the (free) audio tells you as you go round and what you can see and read in the well considered and interesting exhibit. Its a bit haphazard at certain points in its chronology but the stuff that's on show is top class and even if you were nt a massive Beatles or even music fan i reckon you would be engaged. We were there on a busy Saturday afternoon and it was a wee bit tight in certain places but that shouldn't detract from the experience. A different experience to the Beatles museum on Mathew Street which has more in terms of quantity of memorabilia - we did both and both offer an interesting insight but in different ways- the Experience more high tech i would suggest in terms of the interaction. Well worth the money and definitely worth the visitWritten May 14, 2024
- Katseddon0 contributionsInformative historical enjoymentFrom entering the atmosphere was exciting, you could feel the history and I just wanted to learn more. From how they met to where they performed and who they met along the way. The staff were excellent. Kerry in particular.Written April 25, 2024
- 463nicholasc0 contributionsExtremely limited accessI have tried to visit The Beatles Story on 3 separate occasions. Yesterday, I again attempted to use the platform lift and whilst my assistants were manoeuvring my large power chair ,a female manager approached us without introduction and referred to me as ' the gentleman in the vehicle' making no attempt to address me directly. She questioned both of my assistant's professional abilities to safely support me accessing the attraction and despite them suggesting other solutions, she remained closed minded and unsupportive which resulted in me deciding to not attempt accessing the museum. I am so disappointed that the staff at this popular attraction , lack basic training and skills of how to accommodate anyone with additional needs. I hope that access will be improved before my next visit. 🤞🏼Written April 16, 2024
- Vareita0 contributionsDisappointedI don’t recommend the museum. You get a audio guide and the hallways are full of texts. It is impossible to do both at the same time, and would take forever. It wasn’t interactive at all.Written March 25, 2024

- Ethelberga H0 contributionsInteresting MuseumWe really enjoyed seeing the exhibits and enjoying route around the museum clips of film of the Beatles. You get a real sense of who they were as a group- such diverse backgrounds. Enjoyed the cafe after too for a coffee/ tea but a bit on the dark side- could do with more lighting.Written November 18, 2023
- andrewjenny0 contributionsAll things BeatlesA must for all Beatles fans or music fans in general. The exhibit runs in chronological order the beginning of the Beatles history to the end. Plenty of information provided and you are given headsets so you can have an audio description of each display. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Worth a visit when in Liverpool.Written November 7, 2023

- clairec6990 contributionsRude Shouty Staff MemberLooking forward to visiting, we checked on the Monday to see if we needed to book ahead for mid week and we’re assured that wasn’t necessary. Turned up on Wednesday to be intercepted by a very rude member of staff with a clip board who (without any reason) decided to shout to ask if we were booked to visit. Explained that no, we had checked and told it wasn’t necessary, she very rudely said that it’s fully booked due to a cruise party. Zero manners, but actually she did us a favour because we went to the Museum of Liverpool which is free, has fab genuine memorabilia and received a really warm and friendly welcome on arrival. So, I’d say go there instead and save your money!Written October 18, 2023
- HARWOOD1864060 contributionsA bit of a tourist trap but worth doing if you are a Beatles newcomer.took in this venue as part of a day taking in the sights (and sounds) of Liverpool. It is a bit 'manufactured' but does tell ,in reasonable depth, the story of The Fab Four. Good audio included in the admission price. Nice recreation of The Cavern Club and The White Room. Some of the exhibits could do with a good dust! As I grew up in that time knew most of the history. it was nicely 'packaged' but nothing exceptional.Written October 17, 2023

As a long time Beatles fan I was really looking forward to visiting, 20+ years after my last visit. I was with my 2 primary school aged children.
The timed slot / queuing system needs reassessing. I booked a 10.15 slot and arrived at just after 10am to find a large queue of at least 40 people in front of me outside the building. I duly joined the back of the queue, only to find that most of these people were waiting for the 10am slot.
When a member of staff came down the line checking peoples time slots he indicated that I would need to let all the 10am customers in before I could enter (it was already almost 10.10 at this point and there were many more people behind me in the queue).
We didn’t move into the building until 10.20 (I wasn’t stopped from entering after all and kept my place in the queue) we then shuffled into the entrance where there was another painfully long wait while peoples tickets were checked. Surely as everyone has to book and prepay, scanning a barcode on an app or piece of paper is pretty simple and shouldn’t take more than a few seconds? We eventually got our audio guide headsets at just after 10.30am.
This long chain of people then stood in line through the first part of the exhibition, until people started to get impatient of not being able to move through at their own pace and went past others and on ahead.
Several of the exhibits appeared not be on, or not working, most notably the Cavern Stage which was in darkness, we stood with others waiting for something to happen before giving up and moving on. I noted on the website afterwards that there’s also a Discovery Area for children. Not sure where that was either?
While I appreciate that things are far from normal right now, I have no doubt that The Beatles Story team could do much better to make this experience run more smoothly. Almost £40 for 1 adult and 2 children isn’t cheap considering a lot of the other free attractions in the city.

I did not enjoy the tour which was a big disappointment. This tour is based on headphones and hand held devise to take you through the tour. perfect for travellers who can listen in their own language. As we moved along, I did not enjoy listening and just wanted to peruse at my own leisure. In doing so, everywhere was bottle necked, and because most people had the headphones on, I could not say excuse me, as no one could hear. I started to have a panic attack and tried to move through the exhibition. But it all seems so narrow and everyone just looked like zombies standing in the way. I eventually managed to get out and was disappointed that I had wasted over £30 on tickets. Asked at the shop if I enjoyed my tour, I told the cashier that I felt claustrophobic and his response was, yes it's busy today.

Things look promising at the beginning with a headset for a self-guided tour but from the start there are lots of people single-file in a pretty cramped museum. It felt awkward to stop for too long due to the crush behind.
In my opinion the recreations of locations looked cheaply done - even paper things like tickets and posters had not been printed as facsimiles but onto a larger board so they didn't even look real.
I think there was one genuine Beatles relic in the entire place (well, the only one they made a big thing of was John Lennon's glasses). Costumes, etc., were recreations.
We did learn some things about the early days but after that the experience was all a bit of a mess in terms of exhibits and depth of information.
I suppose people of my age know a lot about the Beatles but to me there was a lack of value for money. Other places tell stories about their subjects in a far better way than this.
Big gift shop though!

Interesting exhibition but it's way too cramped and claustrophobic to really enjoy - especially the first few rooms. Very crowded inside to the point where we could hardly see anything. The audio guide is good - I'd recommend taking a seat somewhere and just listening to the bulk of it there (as opposed to listening to it as you go along). The shop is very good for Beatles memorabilia.

We had mixed reviews from our group but all of them said that they thought that there were not enough songs played during the visit. I personally found the whole thing too claustrophobic as it is all underground and you walk through quite narrow spaces without any outdoor light. It is quite expensive (£16) when so many other Liverpool attractions are free. The headsets were a bit slow and longwinded - they were better for the earlier years but again it would have been good to use them to pay songs - perhaps their are copyright rules which prevent this. Nice welcoming lady on the payment till.

We enjoyed a simply wonderful couple of hours at The Beatles Story on a stormy Wednesday morning. We loved the audio guides and the layout of the museum, and we felt that we learned so much about the Fab Four and the staff and supporters around them. We just have one criticism: Brian Epstein, who launched The Beatles’ career (and who was described by Paul as ‘the fifth Beatle’, if I remember the exhibit correctly!), was a gay man, and this is not once mentioned in the discussion of his life. There is just one very brief mention of a one-time boyfriend. We visited during LGBTQ+ History Month, and we were disappointed and surprised to see that it was not made clear that a gay man managed The Beatles. There was a very moving letter from Epstein to a friend, written upon the friend’s engagement; in the postscript, Epstein touchingly described the friend’s fiancée as ‘very lucky’. Why not add some lines about Epstein’s sexuality and his emotional life? It felt as though an important part of gay history, and The Beatles’ history, had been erased.

What a great museum, Charting the rise of The Beatles.
It cost me £15 (Consionery because I was over 60yrs) I pre booked my ticket on line just in case it got busy.
You start off when Paul & John met and how the turned from skiffle music to pop and how the other band members joined. As you thru their timeline you noticed who influenced them and how it they became so big with Brian Epstein polishing them up. The pictures and memorabilia is fascinating, I loved the exact replica Cavern Club set up, With Cilla Black picture serving a cuppa and a Cornish Pasty..Also it analysed each band member and gave each performer there own background space.A must if you love the Beatles ..Great staff that helped you with any questions you put to them, And set in a great location of the Docks..

This was part of a Liverpool Beatles trip I organised for my hubby’s birthday. We were not disappointed it was a great experience to listen and see the story of the Beatles from an early age right up to present day, we found out things we never knew. The people narrating the story were all very close to them so you got some great perspectives. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the Beatles or the 60s story of Liverpool

Although you need to book in advance and numbers are supposedly limited, the museum was crowded (Sunday morning) and, as few visitors were wearing masks and there was no distancing at all, did not feel Civid safe. It is an underground environment, presumably unventilated.
You make your way around the museum in a queue, at the pace of the slowest person. There is loads of information about the early years, the band's management, even the coat worn by Brian Epstein is exhibited. We found it too detailed and boring, though a real fan might have a different view.
There was little about the Beatles' music, no footage of them performing, which would have been much more interesting. Nothing about the developing personalities.

Highly recommend! Very detailed story of the members before, how it all started, the in between and the end. I found the delivery method of the tour very unique as you had a little device and headphones which you could listen too at your own pace. Device had tracks, videos and photos if you chose to run through each. Everything inside was very well presented, all eye catching and our experience was great only one other group in front of us so we could really go at our own pace with everything - again definitely recommend this one

Written March 19, 2022
Well I’m a senior - there was a slight reduction for us! You should be able to do this on line or just go along and get tickets on the day. September is good as it will be after the school holidays. I must recommend the Premier Inn right next to it. Lovely building with unusual rooms. Staff so friendly.
