About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lowellm9190 contributionsMountain Goat AdventureWe used Mountain Goat for three days. We loved each trip. Our climax trip was the 10 Lakes tour. Our tour guide was Tony and he was special. He managed the difficult driving conditions with ease. We gathered some Great pictures. The vistas are Amazing. Tony was very knowledgeable and shared historic information. Lunch stops were very nice. Ample stops for photos, rest and more pictures. Highly recommended.Written September 13, 2024
- 644terryd0 contributionsA day well spent.Definitely a day well spent. We are regular visitors to the Lake District and know it well, but having a local guide with broad knowledge of the area, means you get to know the history and anecdotes of each place you visit. Our guide Graham was excellent and looked after us really well. His driving skills were put the test quite a few times, passing cars on narrow roads, and even having to reverse some distance because of a road closure. I would recommend this tour to visitors old and new, it’s excellent.Written September 12, 2024
- lauracN6239SH0 contributions10 lakes tourGraham was extremely knowledgeable and made the whole trip fun! He negotiated the narrow roads well and still managed to continue with his narrative 😀 Definitely a 5 star trip 👏Written September 9, 2024

Views were fantastic and went along roads would never hsve attempted myself. Would recommend going on a trip with Mountain Goat.Written September 9, 2024

Mark took us to all the beauty spots along the way to take photos and he was full of knowledge about the area telling us things along the way would highly recommend this trip to anyone who hasn't been on it money well spent cheers Mark for everything. - ACanadianAbroad0 contributionsAmazing scenery and guideI took the All Creatures Great & Small tour with John S. It was a loaded tour. The stops ranged from long stops at the James Harriot museum in Thirsk and in Grassington and shorter stops at the Alderson farm, St Michael's and All Angels church and Bolton Castle. John is a fountain of knowledge. He gave us information on York where we started, James Herriot, the lovely villages and Dales that we passed, geology, English history ... His knowledge was so far ranging. Plus, he rearranged the route because of a marathon. This tour is a great way to see the beautiful scenery of the Dales even if you are not a fan of All Creatures Great & Small.Written September 8, 2024
- shaimaalhumood0 contributionsA trip to rememberThis trip was truly amazing. We saw so many incredible sights and our guide, david, was full of so many amazing facts. This was the absolute highlight of our trip and i will always cherish it. Much love from your friends from kuwaitWritten September 8, 2024
- LisaShadowCat0 contributionsFull Day North Wales from Liverpool & ChesterThis 10-hour tour from Liverpool my husband and I took on September 1 was a great value. Our guide Scott was personable and knowledgeable. There was sufficient time in Conwy, the National Slate Museum, and Betws-y-Coed to explore and get a bite to eat. The short stops for photo ops were good, too. This was a great intro on our first visit to Wales.Written September 7, 2024
- susan1550040 contributionsSit back and let the pros do the drivingA wonderful day out. Dennis shared so many wonderful stories and showed us places that you could easily pass by without knowing the story behind it. He stopped many places to take photos, so never felt that we were missing things. Never felt rushed. Recommend this tour especially if you are worried about driving the narrow, steep hills or just want to relax and enjoy the lake district without worrying about parking etc.Written September 6, 2024
- Sonya M0 contributionsExcellent scenic tourGood value and interesting your. Great your guide. Lots of photo ops. Enjoyable day. The highlight of our UK trip. This is the tour to take if you are in the area with not a lot of time to spare.Written September 5, 2024

- ladystarpuma0 contributionsDefinitely worth itAnother amazing trip with Mountain Goat tours! Out on those roads I don't want to drive or find a parking spot. Let them do it and you can look out the window and relax. Well, sort of relax because that might be difficult on some of the mountain edges. Visit lakes, mountain, bridges, mines, and more. This tour goes Castlerigg Stone circle as well. Definitely worth it.Written September 2, 2024
- ladystarpuma0 contributionsUnforgettable experienceThe views ... the roads. So glad to give the driving to Derick over the Hardknott Pass. Plus my visit was during a three day rain and yet still worth it. But not just driving, the history with the stories about the area and places we visited. Unforgettable experience made so easyWritten September 2, 2024

A massive thanks to Gerry! He made our Beatrice potter tour experience something to remember! It was exceptional, leaving us overwhelmed with the amount of fascinating history and sights that he brought us to!! We even had an unexpected ferry ride midway which he proved his driving skills by collecting us on the other side without a second to spare!!!! The mini coach was air conditioned and super comfy, with Gerry narrating which made it really fun and even built relationships with each person on the trip. We picked the best day with sunshine that lit up Beatrice potters garden! The entry into the house was smooth and we didn’t stand in any lines waiting which wasn’t expected! We even had time to nip into the gift shop with Gerry waiting, he was really patient and stopped every now and then to let us see extra sights and villages which linked to the history of Windermere….even for some ice cream and coffee! Thank you ever so much for the wonderful experience! It completed our trip!

''The Beatrix Potter's Half Days Lake District Tour including Lake Cruis ''was the fantastic trip with beautiful viewpoints.Peter was our driver and guide and he talked very interesting about places we traveled through and visited. We were on the Hill Top and visited Beatrix Potter house and garden. We went to the Wray Castle with a beautiful view on the lake and hills. We had free time in the Windermere village ,so we choose to visit a church, the Helen's chocolates shop and the Beatrix Potter gift shop. We were lucky because the sun often peeked out from behind the clouds. It wasn't raining or windy so the views on the Hawkshead were also breathtaking. At the end we also sailed on the boat, taking in the picturesque landscapes. Thank you very much. The trip worth money.I highly recommended it.By the way I received this trip from my son and daughter as a birthday gift. This is one of those priceless gifts for me that has been engraved in my heart forever.Thank you .

Even though we were already National Trust members, my husband and I decided to take this trip rather than trying to visit Treetop under our own steam - and I am so glad that we did. It was so well co-ordinated and included a boat trip on Windemere (our driver dropped us off at the pier, bought the tickets and picked us up at the other end) and also entrance to Treetop (again this had to be pre-booked and this was all done for us). Our driver, Phil, was brilliant and took us all rouind the local area relevant to Beatrix Potter and also included a short stop at Hawkesworth. There was so much packed into our half-day excursion that we could never have achieved by ourselves and our driver Phil knew so much on his subject and dispersed his information in a very informative and entertaining way.

Our guide, Tim, did a fabulous job today, both narrating and driving tiny roads in the rain. We were a group of 13, and I think everyone had a great time at Hill Top, on the Windermere cruise, and at Hawkeshead. Pick-up and drop off were on time and easy. Booking was a cinch, and I'd recommend this company for anyone wanting to tour the Lakes. It's lovely to have someone else drive!

Excellent half day coach tour, 12.08.24, visiting places related to Beatrix Potter and of interest to us. Tim, our guide, was very knowledgeable, approachable and entertaining during the tour, attentive to his passengers comfort and enjoyment. He was also a very safe and competent driver on the very challenging roads around the Lakes, we felt entirely safe throughout. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Lakes.

Hi Kim
Thank you so much for writing such a kind review about the Ten Lakes Tour with Tim. We are so glad to hear you had a nice time.
The Ten lakes is the best way to see the lakes if you aren't visiting for too long but want to experience the 'must see' areas, and some that aren't that commonly suggested.
We are happy you could join us and we hope to be able to see you again soon!

I really enjoyed this tour with driver-guide, Gerry. He was delighted to share his extensive knowledge about Beatrix Potter and her legacy in helping to conserve the Lake District. I learned so much and gained a deeper appreciation of her many accomplishments! Combined with beautiful scenery and interesting stops, this all made for a very engaging afternoon!

Interesting and fun, with a lake cruise. Beatrix Potter interest was tenuous in parts, so pay for the entry to Hill Top if taht's your main reason for doing the tour. We enjoyed the trip overall and thought it was reasonable value and a good way to see different things whilst getting extra knowledge from the driver/guide.

This is absolutely a pleasant way to sightsee the area, especially since I didn’t have a car. The driver was fairly knowledgeable (although maybe not a Beatrix Potter expert) and he was friendly and seemed very helpful to others in the group. I would do another tour with Mountain Goat. That being said do know that this half day tour was VERY fast paced. A few minutes at Wray castle. Less than an hour at Hill Top. And for some that might be a good pace. I would have liked just slightly slower of a pace or I wish they would put Hill Top on a full day tour itinerary. Lots of driving around the countryside. But just looking from bus windows quite a bit.

We spent a great half day tour around the Lake District with Peter from Mountain Goat Tours. The scenery was beautiful and we learned so much about the area and how Beatrix Potter came to live there. It was my niece's favorite part of our whole vacation!

HI there, I'm travelling with kids of 4 and 7. Are they welcome to join this tour? What is the charge for an adult and a child? Is there a family package? Thanks
Written July 14, 2019
Hi, what time does the tour start? Thank you
Written July 11, 2019
Hi Teresa
The Beatrix potter tour starts at 11:50 am
But they advise you to get there at least 11:40am so they can check paperwork
There is a souvenir shop there with reasonable prices so you can look around while you wait
They are very friendly
Thanks
Peter

No, not in the house or gardens which we spent about 40 minutes in but they can walk on the surrounding land so my husband stayed in car with digs whilst the children and I went in the house then we all walked up to the lake etc.
Written November 16, 2018
I personally would not recommend this trip for a child, the Beatrix potter experience at Bowness would be a better bet, with a separate lake trip to replace the one included in the trip
