Jane was our very knowledgeable guide. She certainly knows her stuff and delivered it in a very interesting way. She told us loads about how the town grew and how it has changed with the various wars over the centuries. I could almost smell the town in medieval times (not pleasant to say the least!)
Although only Cathedral guides can take you inside, she explained the architecture and took us around the cloisters.
I would just like to add that the review asks about social distancing etc due to covid. This was no long required in May 22 when we visited.

Sam, our guide, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and made the tour really interesting. He showed us so many things we had missed on our wanderings and brought to life the ancient history and his use of cards showing various sites gave us a better understanding of what makes Canterbury what it is today. We were very lucky to have such an enthusiastic guide.

Sam was brilliant and engaging. We had our 12 year old daughter and he managed to keep us and her interested. He was very good at keeping it fresh and much of what he covered wasn’t the usual tourist drawl, though he was happy to cover whatever you were interested in. He has an obvious love of the city and his job!

Highly recommend!!!

Thank you so much Sam for the fabulous tour of Canterbury last Saturday.
Your knowledge and love of Canterbury and it’s history were evident and your enthusiasm was infectious. You expertly managed a large group on a very cold day and entertained us with amazing facts and amusing stories... and left us wanting more! Thank you from the lady shivering in the grey duffle coat!

Sam was delightful, friendly, very knowledgeable about the history of Canterbury and a very switched on young man who was a pleasure to be around. It was freezing and poor Sam wasn't even wrapped up as well as us but carried on with a smile and enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to another tour as I'm sure he had lots more fascinating facts and stories to share, but hopefully in warmer weather next time😊

Thank you Sam for a brilliant walking tour despite the heavy rain throughout. Your enthusiasm was infectious and despite the damp you succeeded in giving us a really good tour of Canterbury and an overview of all the history. It also gave us ideas as what to do for the rest of the weekend. I would highly recommend Sam.

We contacted Sam overnight and he was very accommodating and arranged a tour the same day. It was my 9 year old (who has Asd and loves history) and myself. Sam’s knowledge, enthusiasm and patience was incredible. He spoke with a freshness that would never let you believe he’d done it hundreds of times before. Highly recommend!!

Jane was our guide on a very rainy morning. She knew Canterbury well , adapted her patter as we had already had a guided tour of the Cathedral itself . Jane made people feel at ease and managed to engage with each member of our group. The pace was sensible and we learned a lot about the history of Canterbury. I would recommend this walk.
