Sam’s knowledge and whole approach made the tour interesting, full of facts and information that a tour book would not be able to give you, delivered with humour and a genuine love for Canterbury and its rich history.

The walk around the city’s highlights took one and a half hours in total and was well worth the money! Sam pointed out so many quirky artefacts hidden around the city as well as setting various buildings within their historical context... all of which had a fascinating tale behind them.

We always do a walking tour when we visit a city but this was far the best we ever have been on.

Health and safety was paramount (within this pandemic driven new ‘normal’) but that did not detract from the experience... it just showed the care and attention The Classic Canterbury Tour agency paid to visitors when showcasing such an historic landmark.

A ‘must do’ for your To do’ list if you ever pay a visit to this lovely city.

Thanks Sam!

Thank you so much for this very touching review, I am very happy you both enjoyed your tour! It was lovely to discuss Canterbury's history with you, especially the Fenwick family and their origins in the North East (the first Fenwick shop was opened in Newcastle in 1882 with the Canterbury store opening in 1986)! I hope we can meet again in Canterbury in the future. Sam

We arrived in Canterbury on Friday 9th Oct and found a ‘flyer‘ for this company in the Tourist Info/ Beaney Centre. We contacted them and a very short notice (3 1/2 hours later), Sam Hurn agreed to take two of us on a tour. From the beginning he was very informative and engaging, as we strolled around the city. Sam clearly new his stuff and had plenty of informative facts and stories and provided a highly enjoyable tour. The trip is very reasonably priced and we very happy to give him a generous and well deserved tip!

Excellent information which helped to bring the history of Canterbury to life.
Our tour was 9am on a Sunday and I would recommend an early tour to enjoy the city when it is quiet.
Would highly recommend the tour and a visit to Canterbury.

An EXCELLENT tour, starting at the Beaney Museum and going to many points of interest in Canterbury. Sam is an excellent tour guide, very very knowledgeable in all historical aspects of Cantebury. The tour was planned in a lovey way which flowed seamlessly through the town. Sam was very approachable and we felt we could ask questions at any point throughout the tour. We learned a lot during the tour and the time flew by. Sam was excellent at interjecting humour into the tour and we learned where a few "sayings" originated from in the many stories that he told us. It was a pleasure to go on this tour and the best value we could have put our money towards. Thank you so much Sam!!

My family loved our walking tour with Sam, he was a wonderful guide, full of interesting facts and stories about Canterbury and the people that lived there.
He answered all of our questions effortlessly (of which there were many) and even had our teenage children excited about the life of Thomas Becket which is no mean feat.
His extensive knowledge and obvious passion for the city shone through making the tour a hugely enjoyable experience.

Thank you so much Sam for the fabulous tour of Canterbury last Saturday.
Your knowledge and love of Canterbury and it’s history were evident and your enthusiasm was infectious. You expertly managed a large group on a very cold day and entertained us with amazing facts and amusing stories... and left us wanting more! Thank you from the lady shivering in the grey duffle coat!

The Canterbury Classic Tour. Is a must for visitors to Canterbury wether you’re interested in history or not. Sam is a great story teller and really knows his stuff. The great thing about tours like this are that we had walked around the city the previous day and hardly noticed numerous points of interest that Sam was able to tell us fascinating facts about. Length of the tour ( an hour and a half) was just right for us, as was the pace.

The tour that Sam Hurn gave was such an eye-opener. Our visit to Canterbury became so much more interesting because we got to know the true details of every account in surprising “corners”. It is very obvious that Sam adores what he does because it shows how he effortlessly told each piece of history, not to mention very kind for allowing me to jump in last minute! Definitely made the Canterbury experience more colorful.

We had an amazing experience exploring city of Canterbury with our tour guide Sam. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history and this city. It’s great to do this tour early insure morning before tourist crowds fill the streets. It felt like we had it all to ourselves!
We’ve seen lots of interesting places, buildings and have heard many stories related to this place. Some places we would never come across unless it would have been with this tour. We know so much more now and can’t wait to come back and explore in the future!
