- Our tours go ahead in all weathers so be sure to come prepared for all eventualities. Umbrellas don't really work in Brighton (it can get very windy!) so if it’s wet we recommend waterproof coats with hoods etc.

This year we tried a culinary themed holiday (our children are in their teens and late teens and don't get enthusiastic about family activities anymore, thus I planned a bunch of culinary experimentations). Beside visiting indoor street food markets in London and Greenwich, insider tip bakeries in Newhaven's industrial area and organic ice cream parlours in Lewes, we used the V.I.B. walking food tour in Brighton.
Not cheep, but the sampled food from 7 establishments did a more than light lunch made. We weren't stuffed but delightfully sated (especially after the exquisite nibbles in the Curry Leaf Cafe), and get offered a discount to purchase more (even on later days). After mentioned our dietary requirements beforehand there were vegan and veganic alternatives available which even our omnivore members found more than palatable.
Only a very slight niggle: our guide Ashley was sometimes a little bit too swift-footed (since our tight schedule was strained by chatty hosts) for us tourists to keep up in the traffic, but he waited a bit away and we only missed some of his many additional information on Brighton's history and culinary and architectural sights.

We had a wonderful time last weekend on the tour with our delightful guide Simone. The tour was originally bought as a Christmas gift in 2019 for our two daughters and their partners. One pandemic later and we ended up with a private tour for the six of us in 2021! Needless to say Brighton Food Tours were amazing when it came to rescheduling then re-rescheduling again and again, extremely patient and happy to oblige when we ended up with our private group.
I won't tell you about the tour itself as I don't want to spoil it for you, but I can tell you that it was fantastic. Simone was a lovely person to be with, very informative and the places she took us too were amazing. The food was delicious and we were comfortably full by the end - even had to take some bits home as a goody bag!
I would like to say a special thank you to Simone, as our eldest daughter is 3 months pregnant and early on in the tour had a bout of morning sickness. Simone was so thoughtful, kind, considerate and mindful the rest of the tour to make sure my daughter was comfortable and enjoyed the tour. But Simone did this in a way to make sure that my daughter (and the rest of us) didn't feel that it was an inconvenience or that it overshadowed the day.
I would definitely do this tour again as I know they use multiple venues so we could easily come across other gems. We will also definitely be revisiting the venues that we were taken too, they were all friendly, welcoming and served amazing food.
Just can't recommend highly enough really - excellent value too.

We booked this tour to kick start our day at the fringe festival. We have done food tours before and hoped it’ll be just as good and it did not disappoint.
Being a local I really hoped they were going to take me to some new places I could go back to and explore more in my own time and that’s exactly what happened.
Our guide Simone was friendly and super knowledgeable.
We visited 7 places and ate generous portions of food. We had sausage rolls, vegan sushi, hummus, organic chocolate, cheese and wine, ice cream and burgers. It was all delicious.
Highly recommend for locals and visitors to the city to get a taste of all the amazing independent places in this wonderful city as well as a nice little walking tour.

Loved it! New to the area and having experienced food tours on weekend breaks outside the UK, we signed up for this tour hoping that it would be a good introduction to Brighton and provide us with a list of good restaurants to check out in the future. And it delivered in spades! Ashley was knowledgeable, engaging and led the tour (at pace) across the very different neighbourhoods of Brighton, introducing us to the history, the geography and of course the culinary delights of the town. The highlight was very much the people that we met and the passionate stories that they had to tell. And we now have a great list of independent restaurants to return to. Job done!

This was a brilliant tour. Ashley our guide was very engaging and enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Brighton’s food scene. We enjoyed visiting the various shops and restaurants and the food we sampled was delicious. We highly recommend you do this tour as soon as you visit Brighton so you’ll know exactly where to food shop and which restaurants to sample. Turn up for this tour hungry as you get to eat lots and bring a shopping bag with you as you’ll want to buy lots of goodies!

A very good introduction to the independent food scene in Brighton. Most of the places we visited we were greeted enthusiastically and with dedicated staff who were passionate about their food. The quality of the food offered was excellent across the board and really showcased Brightons independent food scene.
Our guide was informative and very discreet whilst we were eating.
This tour was recommended by my daughter and I will definitely be recommending it to our family and friends too.

This was our first family trip to Brighton so we booked a food tour to explore the local area. It didn't dissapoint!
We explored seven independent venues and our tour guide (Ashley) pointed out other foodie places of interest along the way.
He had great knowledge of, not only the local food, but also Brighton history, which was a nice touch and added a layer of appreciation for the places we visited.
The portion sizes were very generous. We finished the tour feeling full but not ill!
Ashely was extremely friendly and funny and made us all feel like one big group rather than two separate familes. Not to mention the heavens opened during our tour, we were all soaking wet but his sunny disposition kept our spirits from dampening.
The group size itself was well thought out, it wasnt too big that we felt we couldn't stop him to ask questions. Covid considerations were maintained throughout.
Overall a great day out and good value for money. Would recommend!

My partner and I had an amazing experience doing the VIB Food tour. We had the pleasure to have Claire as our tour guide, and she was brilliant. She provided such cool history facts about each place we have been to and was very friendly. We live in Brighton and we were so impressed with the selection of food venues and itinerary, because even though we live here, we wouldn't even imagine about knowing some cool facts about the venues way of making the food and all the work that goes into it!
We HIGHLY recommend to everyone (locals and non-locals) and we can't wait to do the Hove Food tour next!

This tour blew my boyfriend and I’s minds. An absolute knockout. I’m visiting from the US so I had to prioritize activities and landmarks, and I’m here to tell you this tour is a must do! It’s a great way to see, learn about and experience the wonderful city of Brighton. And the food was lovely. I’m a picky eater too so you know it’s worth it. Both of our favorites was Casa Azul followed closely by a place called Smorl’s I believe (be brave and try the extra garlic, delicious!), but all of the stops had much to enjoy. Our guide’s name was Claire and she was so knowledgeable, sweet and entertaining. It wouldn’t have been the same without her! If her employer is reading this, please know we felt she offered the very best of Brighton with a ton of charm. :) My boyfriend is a foodie so I got these tickets mostly for him, but this tour quickly became my favorite experience visiting the UK. I have nothing but good things to say. Tips: Eat light if you get full fast; you want room to try it all! And wear nice, sturdy and comfy shoes. You’ll be doing a lot of walking though at a relaxed pace.

Claire was amazing, this is not just a food tour but a guided tour of Brighton with stories from history. The food was delicious and the detail of the stories behind each business really gave us a feel behind the real Brighton. Hello, thinking of booking the tour Saturday 25th Sept but as my partner is celiac and can not eat gluten and all food he eats must also not have cross contamination, I wondered if you can accommodate gluten free within your tour?
Completely understand if not possible just thought it would be good to check before booking.
