About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JosipaEn0 contributionsAmazing family adventure on Jurassic CoastWe went to this tour at end of August. It started raining at the morning but we were prepared (we are in England after all ;) ). We had layered clothes and waterproof jackets. Bus picked up at designated location and we went for an adventure. Bus was comfortable, guide charming and he filled us with interesting facts from very beginning. We had enough stops and on such a interesting locations and just enough time so we were not hungry in the bus or uncomfortable because of toilet deprivation. Sun was shining when we came to Durdle Door - just on time, so we could enjoy walking on the beach. We had an amazing time and would recomment it. It was great value for money. thank you for this great experienceWritten September 2, 2024
- E8952YDpeterw0 contributionsRain stopped a full day trip.Rained most of the day so this ruined the day for me.The operator could have cancelled this day the day before.I had no phone number to contact the driver on the day.The drop offs were completely rainy and walking was not comfortable over land. One drop at Corfe Castle, the cafe was understaffed and unbearably hot with number of customers. Not a good recommendation.Written August 26, 2024
- Sightsee5266170 contributionsDurdleMarek excellent guide...very thorough and knowledgeable.Would recommend..it is a lot of info and a long day though...Next time l would prefer shorter trip maybe just afternoon and more relaxation in just ine or twi places.Written August 16, 2024

- D6778AHelizabethg0 contributionsBrilliant day trip around Jurassic coastThankyou Marek for the amazing trip around the Jurassic Coast, very informative and you made it really interesting especially the history of it all. Very friendly and entertaining with it aswell! Thankyou for all the photos too, we had a good day despite the weather being a bit overcast. Definitely recommend this trip.Written August 10, 2024
- guijorgep0 contributionsThe perfect day for all ages!Marek, the guide, took us on the PERFECT day trip through the Jurassic Coast! He was an amazing guide! Other than the natural beauty, we learned a lot about history and geology. We leaned about the beginning of Bournemouth around 200 years ago, tales about Churchill and the Second World War, and the prehistoric origin of the British island. We couldn’t have had a better experience. Thank you Marek for making everything amazing with so much love and care!Written August 10, 2024
- cristiant1570 contributionsNot bad, but not the bestThe trip was OK, not great. Unfortunately maybe for us, we had something to compare it with - a similar trip taken 14 years ago with a different operator, and we found this one lacking at the end of the day. What we expected (and would have wanted very much for our young daughters) was a stop to a schist/fossils beach like the one we visited 14 years ago at Lyme Regis as part of a Jurassic Coast tour. They were very disappointed about this. Another thing that really bothered us was the really short stop at Corfe Castle (less than an hour, and not the hour and a half advertised) and the excessive long stop (3 hours!!!) at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. It would have been very nice to have an additional hour for the Corfe Castle (for a total of 2 hours) and one hour less for Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The stop at Middle Beach was totally useless since there was nothing nice or interesting to see or do there. Would we do this tour again? A definite no. (But at least it was not expensive)Written July 31, 2024
- U1940KL_0 contributionsHighly recommend! It was a wonderful experience! Luckily we had the best weather and it's definitely better to watch out for the weather because it'd probably have been a different experience if it were raining. It goes without saying that Durdle door was amazing but every spot we went was also gorgeous and was definitely worth a visit. Dean was an execellent guide as well. He was professional but friendly and approachable. Considering how much we could see in a day, the cost was reasonable too.Written July 27, 2024
- kathleenpR5274HW0 contributionsTerrific day in the Poole/Bournemouth areaAs I'd come from Australia and was interested to see some places in particular in the area, our guide Marek took special care to adapt the tour with that in mind, for which I'd especially like to thank him.Written July 20, 2024
- Go095187151100 contributionsDurdle Door in the rain.Great tour in the morning. Nice views, interesting history, and excellent guide. Unfortunately, the afternoon was rainy with heavy fog. We couldn’t see Durdle Door and the Cove. Thanks to our tour guide, Mr. Marek Winter. He came up with other plans and could keep the afternoon tour enjoyable in spite of bad weather. Great service mind. I do recommend.Written July 20, 2024

- lalithas3580 contributionsPerfect One Day GetawayA beautiful trip to cherish. Our tour guide, Mr. Dean Walker, was jovial, funny, understanding, and communicated really well, making it a perfect one-day getaway. He is such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (highly recommendable!). The trip featured well-timed and carefully chosen spots, with a pace that was neither rushed nor slow. The selection of places was fabulous, offering some of the best views. From start to finish, the experience was meticulously planned and executed, ensuring every moment was enjoyable. The whole experience was simply superb, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an unforgettable day trip.Written June 24, 2024
- Bobfalconer0 contributionsLovely day outOur guide, Dean, was fantastic and could not have been more helpful. He was enthusiastic with a good level of humour. It was a lovely day out in a small group of 14. We had just the right amount time at each location. My wife has difficulty walking and she was shown understanding and alternative options to the visits were offered though we did manage the walk to Durdle Door which was well worth the effort.Written June 23, 2024

Tim was informative and genuinely cares about local tourism. He did a marvellous job explaining
The two coves are superb and this trip is a great trip from Bournemouth
The air condition wasn't working and Tim said it was because it is a hot day it is taking more time to cool. 30 degrees heat in any decent coach doesn't affect A/C. On the way back, Tim rolled down his window so we could get air as passengers complained. Frankly, the coach was an oven with so many of us locked in. When we stepped out it was SO MUCH cooler
The walk down to the main cove and around a hill to the other cove were never explained in terms of level of difficulty. One family with a grandmother struggled to make it to the coach & came much later than departure time. The lady even fell down. Felt really bad.
In fact Tim said these are gentle slopes!!! NOT ENTIRELY TRUE if you are pregnant, have a toddler or are a senior citizen. The terrain is NOT buggy friendly.
It wont take much for the tour operator to call out level of difficulty. It is better to make conservative estimate than to put an overly positive spin especially when it comes to safety

Hi there,
Thank you for your detailed review! I have been contacted by a fellow passenger from the same day regarding the AC, and you are quite right, the English temperature shouldn't affect the vehicle's AC, which has been fixed on the same evening. We do apologise for the inconvenience!
Regarding the area and the level of difficulty, we have information about this on Viator and on our own website and photos to give more of a perspective.
The level on Viator is marked as Moderate which is the middle level out of the three. "Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level".
This info can and should be read before making a booking.
We take many passengers and everyone has different capabilities which we accommodate on the day if pointed out to us.
We also welcome buggies as they can be stored in the vehicle and then used in Lulworth Cove.
Our drivers will encourage passengers to do the walks as the view is spectacular and that is what the trip is about but they are there to help if needed, (they can transport you over to Lulworth Cove from Durdle Door for example).
I thank you for pointing it out and I have now made a request for extra notes on our entry on Viator to make sure people know what to expect.
Thank you, Kind Regards, Discover Dorset

Jerry was a wonderfully funny guide who picked us up from Poole on time. Bus was small and ac didn't quite work which in 29 degree heat was a bit tough. Also as we were sitting in the back it was hard to hear commentary all the time.
But the tour was really nice, it's a great affordable taster of the Jurassic coast with ample time to dip into Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. If weather is good def bring a bathing suit for Durdle Door as it is so scenic and the water crystal clear. But between the carkpark and beach you need to trek a bit. Jerry dropped us halfway through the hike but on way back you got to do it all so definitely need good sturdy hiking shoes because it's quite a walk/climb to get to both points. Bring bottles of water too to stay hydrated.
Jerry was also nice enough to our bnb in Lychett, as it was on the way back to Poole/Bournemouth, which was such a nice thing to do given how tired we were. That was a nice finishing touch to a lovely half day out.

Thank you for your detailed review as this helps our future customers to be prepared even more for what to expect or what to bring along. Yes, definitely pack plenty of water, a bathing suit just in case but still sturdy and comfortable shoes for the hike. I personally find the walk to and back from Durdle Door is harder than the walk over to Lulworth Cove but perhaps you are more tired when you start the second bit. Yes, our guides definitely go over and beyond! We are glad you had a nice time! The ACs are regularly checked on our vehicles especially in this heat, if there was an issue with it, it is now resolved. We hope to see you again! Thank you!

We took this tour on September the 9th (under my girlfriend's name, Francesca) and we can simply tell you that there were two main reasons why this tour was perfect for us:
A) 50%: The route, the time it took, the cost, the tips given by our driver, the knowledge about the area.
B) 50%: Our driver PAUL! If the tour itself is a total win for people with no much time and no transportation, at least having this man in charge was what made it amazing... He made it really cool, fun, friendly for the elderly people present (in case they or actually anybody would have any issues with mobility, offering himself to assist in case they couldn't make it to the meeting point, giving his contact details to each one of us)... Maybe all the other guides are offering a similar experience, but we had to highlight what he transmitted to us, as he was absolutely amazing!!

We had an enjoyable day and out driver/guide was helpful and informative. The places themselves are very beautiful and although it was busy there was still plenty of space and it didn’t feel too crowded. However my friend struggled with the walking at points and she didn’t manage to see much of Lulworth Cove in the time allocated. This wasn’t a problem for me but would be a consideration for many people. It would potentially work better as a Trip with 4-5 hours at the destination. Unfortunately it was very hot and the aircon didn’t work, there were no windows which was a problem and we felt rather carsick on arrival as a consequence. The driver however opened the roof vents on the way back which was much better. Unfortunately there was absolutely no social distancing whatsoever on the coach. On the way there people wore masks (though many incorrectly!) however on the only us and one other group wore masks on the way back. This should be enforced before getting on the coach. Overall we had a very nice day and a great experience whilst there however the journey did let it down a little on this occasion.

Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a detailed review! I apologise about the air conditioning, especially on that hot day of your travel! This has now been fixed!
Yes, walking can be difficult for some. Proper shoes must be worn and make sure you take plenty of water with you.
We ask customers to have their own masks but our staff is not required to enforce the law. Social distancing is required from passengers where possible. The bus happened to be full last Tuesday (when you have travelled) making it difficult to follow the guideline. I have checked our system and in August across all of our tours this has happened 3 times. However, I have just sent out an email to all of our drivers to make sure they all inform passengers regarding masks and social distancing.
Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove is an amazing place and we are glad you have travelled with us! Again, I apologise regarding any inconvenience, our lives have changed so much in the past few months...
Kind Regards, Discover Dorset

I can’t express our appreciation and gratitude for the greatest cruise excursion off our ship we have ever done! We had to go outside of our shop because all cruise-offered excursions were booked and we were so disappointed. We found Discover Dorset and Kamilla was very eager to help us even making arrangements to accommodate our group and necessary very specific date. She was also more than willing to accommodate any special recommendations for visits that we had. Kamilla connected us with Paul Knight who was beyond our expectations with fun, laughter, wonderful history and information and taking us places no cruise-offered excursions could take us because of their huge buses. We visited the most beautiful countrysides we’ve ever seen and had plenty of time at each point of interest we visited. Thank you Kamilla and Paul for your willingness, eagerness to impress, and kindness!! I want to come visit again and take the very same trip!! I would recommend this group 100/10 times!!

It was worth every penny I spent, in fact it exceeded my expectations. I came to Bournemouth to spend beautiful time with my wife, I choose the half day tour and thought the journey will be long if I choose the full day tour however I Feel I did the right thing not because the journey was short but because I was able to spend the time the way I like.
Gerry was my driver he picked up from the Coach Station at Bournemouth, there were two more people on this tour and no one else may because of the scary coronavirus. Gerry went straight to Durdle Door, and he made sure we were not bored and provided information about the places we were passing.
I would give Gerry the whole credit, we were comfortable throughout the journey and he is a great guide too.
I will recommend this tour to all my friends who would visit Bournemouth.

I had a fantastic experience in this tour. The service was punctual for which I need to give a big thumbs up. The bus was great and the journey was smooth. The tour guide was funny and kept us engaged throughout our journey towards Durdle Door with his funny remarks and sometimes informative facts about the area. He was also excellent in managing the group of tourists and providing clear and specific instructions on directions and plan for the day. I wish the trip was an hour longer because it felt like a rush getting from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove and then doing the activities there. But that's probably because the place is so beautiful, you lose track of time.

The best part for me was visiting Durdle Door as the scenery is incredibly beautiful. Our tour guide Paul was so welcoming, helpful and informative at all points throughout the tour. His passion for the history behind Bournemouth, Poole and the Jurassic coast is inspiring. It made the trip really come alive. I would definitely recommend this tour, as you get to see some of the best parts of Dorset and learn some of the interesting history behind the areas visited.

Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are my favourite spots in the UK. I had visited years ago but wanted to return with my children. We visited on Monday 13 July. Our guide Paul was fab. He told us lots of interesting facts and kindly showed us where to go. The minibus was very clean and there was hand sanitiser available. There is now a one way system at Durdle Door so social distancing can be kept. It felt safe. It is a bit of a trek but it's all worth it. I strongly recommend Discover Dorset so you don't have to worry about driving, parking, etc and can just relax and enjoy your visit.

So glad you had a good time Simona, Durdle Door is always a great place to return too. The one way system is working well there and helping to keep everyone apart. As you mentioned the buses are being deep cleaned every day and hand sanitizer is available. Good to hear that you were happy with the arrangements. Thanks for travelling with Discover Dorset Tours and supporting us as we rebuild after lockdown. Best wishes and hope to see you again in the future.
