      Dinky Doors
Before we visited Cambridge we had heard of the “Dinky Doors”, which are quirky Miniature Sculptures hidden away throughout the City. Visitors to Cambridge are able to purchase a Location Map for the Dinky Doors (cheapest option) or to obtain a Physical Printed Map or alternatively to obtain the Online Tour using Google Maps. We had great fun in locating some of the “Dinky Doors” whilst wandering around the City.

The doors are adoorable, once you can find them. Of course, searching for them is half the fun, but as the adult guiding the child on their tour, I would have found it really useful to have a map of the city so I could roughly see whereabouts they all are, so I could plan a route which takes in a few. The guide you can purchase for £7.50 didn’t actually help me at all with this. It was genuinely more useful to use Google maps. I didn’t really mind as I live in the city and regularly enjoy the doors, which are otherwise free, so it felt like a more than deserved donation to the creators. But I think a tourist visiting and downloading the guide would be a bit frustrated by trying to use the online version on the phone. You can print it out, but I was out and about with only my phone.
The doors themselves are amazing - charming and creative, children love them so much. Thank you!

Hello! Apologies for the delay in replying. We've made a fairly big change to the online tour that uses a map that can show your current location. Tap the little arrow on any of the maps and you can see exactly where you are and in which direction you're facing. This makes it much easier to find them than the version you were using at the time. And thank you for your kind words, it's very much appreciated, Much love, Team Dinky

We thoroughly enjoyed our walk around Cambridge hunting for Dinky Doors! A great, fun way to encourage the kids to do a fair bit of walking while we also took in the sights. We printed the map and used the coordinates so the kids could practice plotting coordinates and map reading too. It really did encourage the kids to pay attention to their surroundings more than a standard city wander. It was also nice to overhear other people (who presumably live/work locally) commenting on how they've also stumbled across Dinky Doors and how fun they are to find. It seems a bit of a hidden novelty even for locals :)

A great way to see a bit of Cambridge and help save the world too 😄.
Once we worked out how to use the mapping and were then able to navigate between the doors, we found most that are currently available within a couple of hours.
The work that has gone in to creating and maintaining these tiny works of art is amazing. We loved the little back stories to each one too.
Definitely worth exploring this miniature world if you are spending some time in the city.

Discovering all the Dinkydoors takes you all around Cambridge. At each location you discover a lovely little hidden secret tucked between the awesome sights of a beautiful city.
Each door is beautiful. Cleverley made with intricate details that need to be carefully examined. Don't miss anything.

We took our 11 year old grandson to Cambridge to do the Dinky Doors tour, or at least part of it. We managed to visit six of the doors, and have a hot chocolate and have a nice Turkish lunch, it was then time to use the guided bus to get back home. The doors all looked in very good condition and once found were very obvious (having been in Cambridge on many many occasions and not seen any of them!) The design of each door and its construction is excellent and we look forward to revisiting to look for the remaining 8 doors, although it looks as though a car journey(s) will be needed! Well done to all involved in this tour in miniture!

Slightly disappointed that the map only comes with the printed version and the smaller map that comes electronically cannot be printed. We managed!

We look forward to receiving the emails from the Dinky enterprise!

My sister and her niece were visiting from Australia and I wanted to do something different while in Cambridge. Someone suggested the Dinky Doors tour. We LOVED it. Each door is so cute and so well made, and while you are looking for the doors, you get to see the beautiful city of Cambridge

Such attention to detail and each one quite unique and tailored to its surroundings. A good way to get the family to stretch their legs and explore the city in a new way. Don’t forget to take a stash of 3p coins though!

I actually quite liked the Dinky Doors. Each one was unique and fun to find. I would definitely say that if I was not looking for them, I would never notice them. All of the doors are in areas thay I never would have thought to go to as well, which made exploring Cambridge that much better. Purchasing Dinky Doors also allowed me to find them at my own time (I did it over three days) rather then having to search for all the hours within a specific time frame.

The only thing that I would want to see updated is having an off-line map available. I would also have liked if I was able to "cross off" the doors that I have been to on the online version. That way, I would not have been going in circles in Cambridges city centre.

I've just been on holiday to Norfolk and stopped in Cambridge with my daughters to find the Dinky Doors. Armed with the map and cards we walked around the city and had a fabulous time. According to Freya, age 4, it was THE BEST thing about the entire holiday. And Sophia (age 9) made us stop in Cambridge again on the way home, because we hadn't found all of the doors on our first visit.

Thank you for finding a way to make my daughters explore somewhere new. They were engaged, happy to walk, and took it all very seriously. Please may you now create Dinky Doors for every major UK city?!

The artwork is fun and imaginative. The installations are mainly in the centre of Cambridge and easy to find with the map. Allow maybe 45 minutes to see them all. A good excuse to traipse around Cambridge.
