- amandacX8241LO0 contributionsA unique experience in stunning surroundingsThe dawn pilgrimage to St Barrahane's Well followed by a bracing swim was just sublime! What a fantastic way to start any day. We were blessed with amazing weather, the Glen was lush and bosky, and the water clear and bracing. Never has a steaming cup of tea and a bowl of porridge tasted so good. Conor is an engaging and knowledgeable story teller and I really appreciated getting a synopsis of the tales told later. Highly recommended for a really different and enjoyable experience.Written August 7, 2022
- S000000 contributionsDo this - it’s totally brilliantThis is an amazing dawn pilgrimage swim and breakfast experience. Conor is a wonderful guide and blends the walk to a really special holy well, exhilarating swim in a sheltered stunning bay, really tasty breakfast and some fascinating stories and history perfectly. One of the highlights of our whole trip - you gotta do it. It’s really brilliant.Written August 4, 2022

Amazing insights into the local culture, wildlife and folklore. Conor is a natural storyteller and we would highly recommend any of the Gormú tours. We did others after doing this tour.
Every parish in Ireland needs a storyteller like Conor who can bring a landscape alive.

Conor is a gifted storyteller with huge local knowledge and I feel so privileged to have spent such a memorable morning running with him in the beautiful Toe Head peninsula near Skibbereen.
The views were breathtaking and he pointed out amazing hidden beaches and pools. This running tour is an absolute hidden gem that has so much history and folklore.
We ended our run with with more stories on the beach where Conor really brought to life stories of battles, submarines and talking seals.
It truly was a wonderful way to spend a morning and I will definitely return with a few more running buddies in toe (no pun intended!)

What a wonderful morning we spent exploring Toe Head Peninsula with Conor, Gormú Tour Guide & exquisite storyteller ,(seanchaí style). Conor’s extensive knowledge of the history, flora, wildlife & folklore of the area and how he imparts that knowledge at the relevant spots/sites bring this whole hike alive in a way that we felt a part of this beautiful land and her wonderful community, past and present. The Spirit of resilience, courage, bravery & strength is still palpable in the land, seas & skies around this proud peninsula. That deep sense of the place & its people comes from
Conor’s skilled storytelling. It did not feel like 7km with the regular stops for storytelling & information regarding various sites & flora. We saw flora, that we didn’t know existed & heard history we had never heard, neither of which we will not forget. We finished on the lovely Tráigh Liceach. with fresh tea/coffee, Celine’s (Conor’s wife) delicious homemade cookies and a harrowing historical tale, featuring a hearty heroine named Nell Rua. I highly recommend this hike for exercise that you don’t feel yourself do, in the midst of the adventure & entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyable, a must do. Buíochas Ó Chroí, Conor & Celine again, heartfelt gratitude 🙏🌊🌸🌼🌾💚🙏💖

Thanks to Conner for this amazing and breathtaking walk. The stories brought us back in time in combination with the astonishing views of wildlife and rough nature. Conner and his passion for storytelling has made this trip excited and curious to explore more of Ireland. And at the end a well deserved cup of tea with home made cookies. Many Thanks

This hike around the Toe Head peninsula is a perfect combination of local history, folklore, flora and archeology with stunning views along the way led by Conor who's knowledge and story telling skills are superb and entertaining. He is a born seanachai! The time flew by finishing on Traighleagach strand eating delicious homemade biscuits (secret recipe) and being enthralled by the story of a battle fought on that very place in the 19th century.
Highly highly recommended

This was a fantastic way to spend a couple hours. Our guide Conor was an excellent host with an extraordinary knowledge of history, folklore and local place names.
He managed to avoid the scripted approach some guides take and instead provided a wealth of information that encompasses local history, ecology and folklore, all delivered in an engaging and entertaining manner.
We even saw some rón (local word for seals). Of course he had names for them and a charming story from local lore to match the names of the seals.
It also helps that the area around the Toe Head peninsula is spectacularly beautiful. Highly recommended.

I spent a wonderful few hours being guided around Toe Head by Conor. It was such a great outing, Conor's knowledge and love of the area gave us an insight to the history, culture and the flora and fauna of a place well worth visiting. This is a trip I so enjoyed and I'd recommend doing it with Conor and come away with an enhanced understanding of a wonderful area of West Cork.

A perfect walk guided by Conor. Just the right combination of local history, story telling, archeology, flora and good humour and answering of questions, rounded off with very welcome tea and home made biscuits. Cannot recommend highly enough for those who wish to learn about and share the most spectacular country. Thank you Conor and Gormu walks!

Fantastic Tour, highly recommend!
I went with my sister for a day out of the office. We were running late, and Conor was very understanding. We set of at a decent pace, we weren't under pressure at any stage at all.
The stories along the way were the perfect combination of fun and interesting, the stories and stops were well timed.
The views and the scenery were picture perfect - like something off a postcard.
I would stay to anyone coming to Ireland on holidays 100% do this trip. You'll laugh and learn about the country while having a memorable experience.
Anyone in Cork looking for a day out of the office or to do something interesting, maybe hosting a meetup this would be a fantastic idea.
Coffee and a biscuit on the beach was an perfect ending.
Thank you Conor!
