      An overall memorable experience
My partner and I did the explorer tour and had a great time. It was thrilling, challenging and an all around one of a time experience. Unfortunately, towards the end of our tour, my partner was ill. We were grateful for our guide Tiffany’s help in navigating this but later on, we felt she became distant with us which was unfortunate. We appreciated every aspect of this tour and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lifelong memory.

An adventurous and safe cave exploration experience
I was expecting a gentle walk through a cave and was delighted to find that on this tour we were crawling through the caves with knee pads, head lamps and harnesses. The cave itself was fairly slippery so we moved low and slow. There were only an handful of places that you could fully stand in the cave. Our guides were excellent at pacing the hike up the mountain to the start of the cave and moving through the cave. They were both super knowledgeable and personable and made the excursion feel safe. I would highly recommend this trip.

      So happy I did this!!
This was awesome. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but as soon as I called to book the tour, the same day, I was greeted with a friendly voice on the other line who was so helpful. Once my friend and I arrived to the office for our orientation, we were fitted for our gear and given the information needed to complete the caving safely. The hike was beautiful our guide Tamara was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and just a fun person to be around. She made everyone feel comfortable and created a really fun and memorable experience for us all. Upon entering the cave, there were some challenging portions, but nothing that anyone had any problem accomplishing. It was very cool to learn about everything inside of the cave and so much more from our knowledgeable guide. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for adventure. Once you get inside the cave, you’re so excited to keep going. I absolutely loved it, and I look forward to coming back again someday.

A One of a Kind Experience
My partner and I took on the Adventure Tour, despite never having spent any time in a cave before. Fortunately we were in good hands with Canmore Cave Tours. Orientation was a snap, and under the guidance of the extremely capable and knowledgeable Brent we were off. The short hike to the cave entrance was a good walk, stopping periodically to learn something new about our surroundings. Once into the cave, it is immediately clear you aren't in Kansas anymore - the sharp drop off to the Bonebed makes that clear. Throughout the entire experience, whether rappelling (entirely new to us) down 18m or quite literally squeeeeezing through some of the tighter passages, we always felt safe and well taken care of by our guide. The challenge in the experience comes in overcoming your sense of what you're capable of - Canmore Cave Tours makes the rest easy. It's a singular experience (unless you're a caver, I suppose) and one you'll want to tell everyone about afterwards. Don't plan on spending much of your time in the cave upright on two feet, and make sure you're selective about what you bring with you. I brought my phone with me to take pictures, but I had to be cautious moving it from pocket to pocket as necessary - various passages will have you crawling on your stomach, wiggling on your back, or sidling through vertical passages sideways. That rock is hard, just be careful. Do skip the extra large coffee on the way, you won't be seeing a bathroom for a while. Finally, there will be an option to add a book when you buy your tickets. I did it, and I'm glad I did -- it's a proper book, hard covered and even includes a fold out map (perfect as a supplement as you narrate your trip later to others). It's a great souvenir and compliment to the trip, full of interesting info on Rat's Nest Cave, Grotto Mountain and cave geology in general.

      Outstanding experience
We had an above and beyond experience on this trip! Annie was an outstanding guide, our family and friends couldn’t have dreamt of a better way to spend the day. This cave is a hidden gem that was surprisingly outstanding! I can’t wait to go back and do the advanced repelling!

      Amazing
The experience was amazing. We have never experienced anything like this before. This wasn't just a cave tour where you walk around and look at the cave. This was a full blown experience of hiking, setting up, climbing, crawling, croutching, sliding. Not to mention our tour guide John was super enthusiastic, informative, helpful and kept everyone safe. Overall, it was a great experience. Thank you, Canmore Cave Tours. Cheers from Winnipeg.

      Junior Forest Wardens Caving Tour
We had 2 large groups of youth attend the adventurer tour during the family day weekend. The staff was amazing from the initial meet and greet, getting the gear sorted out, lots of knowledge while hiking up to the cave, and amazing during the tour. The guides were super motivating and inspired all 48 people to push their limits and explore some very cool spots inside the cave. We had numerous people come out of the caves and say; "that was the best trip ever" , "I never thought I would like caving now I want to do the adventurer tour". Thank you to the staff and guides, they are very experienced, reassuring and make you feel very comfortable during the whole trip.

I keep bringing more family and friends - this time, my 78 Year Old Dad!
This is my 5th or 6th visit. Each time I go, It's just as good. I've taken family and friends, and recently, my 78 year old Dad on the 4hour Explorer Tour. It was epic for my brother, Dad, and two of our children to be together. And Chewy the Rat made an appearance, and chewed on my brother's boots, as one might expect based on his name. Annie was fantastic, and Lenora was great with advice on whether or not we should book with my Dad or not. I'm so glad my Dad got the opportunity to experience the cave, and Canmore Cave Tours supported us all the way. And for those wondering, yes, it's moderately challenging. Not every 78 year old should be expected to handle this experience - but for those who can, you won't regret it!

A unique kind of experience that you won’t get anywhere else
I did the explorer tour solo, and I absolutely loved it. It was such a unique experience and I will recommend it to anyone who likes the adventure. The guide was knowledgeable and was patient when I was making my way down the cave. The hike to the cave was also absolutely amazing with great views of the mountains.

      Awesome day out
Fantastic tour! As moms of young families, my good friend and I realized we couldn't remember the last time we'd had an adventure for ourselves. So we planned an awesome moms only adventure day and came away from this tour feeling like heroes. Our guide Annie was amazing - she had so much knowledge and passion for the cave and was lovely and encouraging with two newbie adventurers. I'm going to be bragging about this experience for a while!

Highly recommended! Our interpretive guide, John, was absolutely fantastic, sharing so many interesting facts about wildlife, the environment, and cave-related items. The caving experience was tremendous - challenging at times but extremely rewarding. Safety was stressed throughout the activity. Masks were worn since physical distancing could not be maintained once inside the cave.

This experience is one of a kind! You might think you have some kind of an idea of what you are about to do, but it is 10 times more intense than that! The waiver you sign to participate in this tour is terrifying, be warned! Overall it was quite safe, but some risks are involved inside the cave and I can't say I felt safe 100% of the time while inside. WEAR good shoes with good grip that are not overly bulky, you will need to be able to secure footing on small stone ledges inside the cave in order to descend and climb. We wore cross trainer running shoes which were adequate. (Ice crampons were provided for winter climbing on snow covered and icy trail climb) The hike to the entrance is fairly substantial and steep (180 metres) If you are not reasonably fit, you will have a hard time with the climb. (I am a 51 year old female and reasonably active and I struggled significantly) Make SURE you have had something to eat before climbing the trail and take a protein bar to eat prior to going into the cave. If you have a hydro pack, take it. No water bottles or food allowed in the cave. If you are a large person, tall and bulky, some of the tight squeezes in the cave will be a challenge for you. Be prepared to be in the cave, underground for about 2.5 - 3 hours. We went in winter and wore hoodies and provided overalls and were warm inside the cave (constant cave temp year round is about 5°) Inside the cave is also quite physical and requires good arm strength to repel down and back out of the cave. If you are claustrophobic, this WILL be intimidating as there are many small spaces to squeeze through and many holes to descend into. You will be very deep underground (245 metres) and the cave is dark and damp at the bottom. It is called "Rat's Nest Cave" for a reason, you will mostly likely see the rat that inhabits this cave (it is about the size of a small cat) and many rat droppings in the cave. At one point in the cave you will be in complete darkness like you have probably never experienced before. We also did a deprivation crawl/climb in darkness which was intimidating. At the bottom, in complete silence you will listen in darkness to the sound of the water dripping in the cavern and appreciate what this experience means. It is a bucket list item for sure! Unreal and unforgettable!

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I've been in a few caves before, but they were more of a formal tour with easy walking in a cave. I expected something similar here, but with a 16m repel thrown in for fun. I could not have been more happily surprised by what we actually experienced.
The tour really progressed with whatever we were comfortable with and it was no easy walk. I enjoyed the challenge of squeezing, twisting, climbing, repelling and navigating the cave.
Our guide max was fantastic. I'm a tour guide myself, so I can appreciate his skill. He effectively answered question, maintained great energy and was very skilled at engaging each member of our group. Not to mention, he's a pretty good climber, caver and knows a lot of information about caves.
Sometimes, once you experience something, there is no reason to do it again. Not here. I would do the cave tour again in a heartbeat!

The Adventure Tour was amazing! Max, our tour guide was absolutely phenomenal. He made everyone feel welcome and comfortable even in the most challenging parts of the tour. This is by far one of the most amazing tours I have ever done, and kudos to Max for making this experience so memorable. His vibrant passion, extensive knowledge, utmost confidence/trust and continued encouragement throughout the tour took the entire experience to the next level. I will tell everyone I know about this tour and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Canadian Rocky Mountains in a very unique and thrilling way.

    Sincerely,

    Sam

My husband and I were a little nervous about fitting in all the tight spaces but Alex made everyone feel really safe and comfortable. Sitting in the dark listening to underground water is an amazing experience. The trip does require moderate physical strength and exertion. Definitely worth it.

My son and I really enjoy this tour. I have to copy the following review as my comment since it is exactly how we felt.

"I can’t stress how amazing this trip was. Everything from the repelling to the shimmying through tight spaces was incredible. Max was our guide, he was very down to earth and you could tell that he was clearly very passionate about cave exploration. The initial hike was very short, but it was made even easier by the pace Max set. He made sure we didn’t get tired, and would point out cool parts of the cave every now and then."

one mistake I made is forgetting to wear the contact lense. Wearing-mask within the cove made my glasses very foggy. There are lots of tips online regarding how to avoid foggy glasses. Please check it out.

Highly recommend this tour for everyone visiting the area. Max is a great guide.

Incredible experience with guides Max and Alex! I did the Adventure tour on a super hot summer day and it was perfect temperature in the Cave (5°C) and a relief from the smoke. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a adventurous and fun tour that requires a good level of fitness. A little nerve racking but each tight squeeze opens into an area you can sit or stand up in so that puts your mind at ease.

This is an experience unlike any other. I was so thrilled to share this with my 16 year old son. My husband and I first toured the caves 15 years ago and felt it was time to give our son the experience. Rappelling in the Rats Nest Cave and sliding through the Laundry Shoot were amazing. Our guide "Max" was so upbeat and passionate for caving. These are bucket list items that can be achieved year-round in the Rats Nest Caves.

Shy was our cave guide, she was absolutely awesome, very knowledgeable about the area and all things about the mountains and the cave system. My wife and I went with 6 other people (strangers), we all became quick friends and it made the caving experience that much betters. The tour was 6 hrs long and included some very tight squeeze challenges, some were optional. It all was very neat. The most interesting spot was located at the very bottom in the gallery and the pools below. Again, Shy kept things interesting by providing lots of neat facts about the cave and its history throughout.
We are from Manitoba, and plan on doing this again in a couple years once our kids are of age to be able to attend the tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for something different and adventurous.
