About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- aussiestardust0 contributionsGood Way to Explore Flores IslandCunca Wulang waterfall was very serene as we had the place practically to ourselves when we arrived. It's a relatively short and easy walk from the parking area. There is also an option to climb up to see the top of the waterfall. Large, calm area to swim around and there is the option to take a leap into the water too. While we didn't see any of the mirror qualities of Cermin Cave it was a fun stop as it involves donning mining helmets and requires a few tight squeezes and crawls to explore. Lunch back in Labuan Bajo was very nice - a variety of local dishes to be shared amongst the group alongside fresh juice. Rangko Cave is quite different being tidal fed and accessible only by small boat and a short walk. It can get quite busy so be prepared for crowds however we found that many people were in and out quite quickly so we were able to have some space and enjoy. Sylvia Hill is not a big climb but its is quite loose sand/gravel so can be slippery. Lovely spot to watch the sun set. Our guide Vano had excellent English and a good sense of humour so we greatly enjoyed our day with him learning about life in Indonesia, particularly around Flores.Written September 22, 2024

Took the 1 day tour to go around Labuan Bajo, started at 6am to Hiking in Padar Island, Pink Beach, snorkeling, go to Rinca Island to see the Komodo Fradon, snorkeling to see Manta Ray in Taka Makassar, and Kanawa Island. - Daniel H0 contributionsTrip of a lifetime. Amazing boat, amazing crew, don’t miss it!Amazing doesn’t come close. We are in Indonesia for our honeymoon and opted for a day trip to Komodo and we could not have made a better choice! I can’t thank the whole crew from ocean queen enough for making it so fabulous from start to finish. I would never use a different boat or crew when coming back for a Komodo trip. Prior to the trip communication was excellent. The day started with an early morning pick up from our hotel, once we got to the harbor I was stunned with the quality of the boat. To put it simply the whole day out we didn’t see another boat which came close. Smooth, fast, comfortable, and air conditioned. The seats inside were wonderful but we opted to spend much of the traveling upstairs. From our research I know that many of these tours follow the same route, but with our start time and the speed of the boat we were beyond pleased that we basically left the crowds behind for the day from the first stop on. Before getting out at our first stop on Padar island they handed out water, once we got back on the boat we were given snacks. I felt each stop was the perfect amount of time, padar was gorgeous, we saw sea turtles and tons of different species of fish on pink beach, and hung out with the dragons on komodo and had a tasty lunch on the way to our next stop. I was already having the time of my life but from here it kept getting better. Our guide was not only fun and friendly but really understood the currents and timing, so he ended up switching up our order and doing manta point next because it would be perfect timing for the mantas. Man was he right! We spent a bunch of time swimming with mantas dancing around us, and our guide brought along a go pro, jumped in the water and started snapping videos and pictures of the experience which he forwarded to us after the trip. Il treasure the memories forever. He then took us to explore the coral areas for more gorgeous snorkeling, and we resumed our itinerary. These guys really made it an experience of a lifetime! If you’re hitting Komodo do yourself a favor and take a trip out on ocean queen, you definitely won’t regret it!Written October 24, 2023
- 42carl0 contributionsAmazing trip not to missBeen on an exciting day trip with the ocean queen to Pada island, Pink beach, Komodo island (national park), Manta point and taka malakassar island. We went hiking to see the scenery at Pada then towards punk beach to swim, relax or snorkel and after to see the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat at Komodo national park. Wow amazing big lizards. Be aware that they are really very dangerous, follow what the rangers say!!!, after we went snorkelling at manta point to see a complete different world in the Indian ocean with corals, all colours of sea life fish and of course the mantras. It’s really a trip not to forget. Thanks to the staff i really enjoyed every minute.Written October 20, 2023

Also the great videos ofvthe Komodo, turtles, Mantas etc etc 💪🏼🙌🏼 Total crew was soooo nice, friendly and helpful. Roy, the cap and all! WAUW WAUW WAUW! Food was good, enough to drink, snorkel stuff enough This is after 15 years of travelling Indonesia 🇮🇩 the best I had. Thank u 🙏🏼 all for the great experienceWritten October 9, 2023
- Happiness3507010 contributionsSnorkeling Day with Dragon extrasNicely organised day, which is full of attractions and emotions. Pack of views on three "colour" beaches, snorkeling on the pink one, then a rest in National Park with Komodo Dragon photo hunt. Small disappointment here that you spend 10-15 minutes near the first one found for everyone to take a picture with him/her as it might be the only Komodo Dragon you meet -- and you just wait. And drink water because it is really hot ). At that time Komodo Dragons were sneaking from sun, so that was hard to find any. Luckily we saw four. Then Manta Bay and one more snorkeling. On the first stop we found nothing except small turtle, but captain and guide quickly collected the whole group and we moved to another place (in 5 minutes) where three Mantas were found. Fantastic "dance" of creature. You really will like this! And last stop was again about the beach and possibility of snorkeling. Choose what you really need at that time. Each option is correct). Additional point to mention is that the crew always ready to help you and answer your questions. The watch that you have enough water to feel fine and provide you additional bottle if they see you miss it. Positive surprise was a cup of hot coffee after watching Mantas. So cool! Keep in mind the cash amount you need for all the entrance fees and pick a happy mood to this trip as it will allow you to get more emotions!Written October 5, 2023

- SophiaY2180 contributionsA phenomenal trip ever!I hired a private boat trip, and had a blast. The main guide Arif gave us a wonderful trip. As we were on a private tour, we were be able to have more flexibility to do all the activities we wanted. Arif gave us very useful suggestions, and accommodated all our requests as many as possible. Doing island hopping depends lots on weather and luck. We were lucky to see how beautiful Komodo area is! Everything was so pleasant that we felt like in heaven😄 Moreover, some crews are not able to speak English, but were very helpful to attend our needs, and very warm to my 6yd little girl. They looked after her all the time, and watch her carefully when she was hopping on and off the boat. In the end, they even carried her on and off the boat😂. After Arif took us to do snorkeling, I was away to take my own towel for a second, and then I saw a crew member accompanied my and kid feeding fishes with her. Oh, it was the warmest moment ever! So kind of the crews! Ocean Queen is the most recommended trip in Komodo- a professional team with kind hearts. They are the best!Written October 31, 2022

Nice experience, obviously very touristy. The boat is well organized and the staff very kind and helpful. An additional 350,000 rupees are paid to people for entry into the various islands. The food is discreet and distributed on board. Wonderful Pink Beach, while Komodo Park is a bit disappointing (the dragons are there, but the "discovery" of the lizards seems a bit organised). The trek is very tiring (especially if it's sunny, because there are around 800 steps) but the view from above is absolutely worth the effort. Overall recommended.

A fantastic choice. From start to finish timing was excellent and the actual day trip was well organised with a great crew. My sincere thanks to Robert and his on board team to who made this experience thoroughly enjoyable. All 6 stops on the trip were very individual to enjoy, the highlight of the day was to see the dragons. I was not disappointed and take away memories of a lifetime. Thank you.

We had amazing day!!! We had our 4 kids (age 6, 9, 10, 12) and we made memories that will last a lifetime! The weather was perfect. We saw HUGE manta rays, Komodo dragons and even a sea turtle. Pink beach was beautiful. Lunch was great and the crew kept us hydrated the whole day. One thing I would recommend anyone who plans going, make sure you bring plenty of IDR for the park entrance fees. We thought we had a lot, but after paying we realized we wish we would have brought more. There are no ATM’s and credit is not accepted, so be prepared!

The itinerary was great. Hike to top of first island was challenging. Wish we had more time at the manta site or pink beach. The last stop was an island with a small beach and no amenities and no snorkeling. They threw some food into the water to make the fish swim over. Rundown/abandoned buildings. Need to find a better site for 6th stop. Our boat was the Ohana. Nice boat but very cramped. Felt like being on a bus all day. Tiny boat bathroom so no where to really change recommend wearing your swimsuit. Hard to get into the water at snorkeling sites trying to get 20+ people in on one small entry point from the boat. We’ve been on dozens of snorkel and dive trips which we love due to more space on dive boat or catamaran. A great trip if you want to see a lot in one day otherwise would recommend taking a snorkeling trip on a dive boat with much more space/room. The crew left us on the dock at Komodo island because we went to use the bathroom on way back to boat and they didn’t do a head count 😳 we waved and hollered and they came back but that shouldn’t have happened. The staff were all very nice but they didn’t apologize for leaving us. They seemed very uncomfortable in the water and several were not strong swimmers nor wearing fins. They wouldn’t be able to handle an emergency in the water. The snorkeling was very good at the first two snorkel sites but we didn’t see mantas. It’s wildlife after all so never guarantees.

We could not go on our first scheduled date due to flight canceled and got a new flight with later arrival. The local operator was accommodating in rescheduling the next day.
However, we could not make it again the next day due to illness 2 of our 5 family members (1 senior and 1 child). We contacted 5am the day of the tour regarding the issue the morning of the tour. The local operator was not willing to give us a new schedule even with only 1 stop among the 6 stops destinations that was offered that we already paid. We weren’t asking for money back. just a new schedule with 1 stop. They were not willing to honor it.
I would not recommend this tour agency due to their very strict rules about rescheduling including sickness that we have no control over.

We left an hour late due to confusion over which boat we would take. Left us standing on the dock while the staff figured it out. Wound up taking their smaller vessel which is slated for up to 15 people but seemed pretty full with just 7 of us. Only the guide spoke English and poorly at that. Tasks like docking at a pier or beach seemed difficult for the staff. The boat was very cramped and smelled of gas/petrol all day. Lunch was a box lunch and not very tasty.
That said, we did visit all of the designated stops and the tour, per se, is well worth doing. It was not good a good season for viewing Komodo dragons or manta rays, thought the weather was beautiful. Suggest researching this before coming to the area.
Overall, I'd recommend finding a larger boat with a different company.

Pick-up, schedule, condition of the boat: impeccable. Out of kindness, I will not say anything about the captain who typed another boat, or about the “guides who do not accompany”.
Tour without interest just to say that you set foot on Padar, saw 2 dragons landed in the Komodo ranger camp, landed on pink beach but snorkeling prohibited, swam in the open sea, in 3 places: the first of very average interest with Guide who swam so fast that only 2 followed him, the other 2 from 12m to 20 meters bottom and nothing else. Surrounded by many other boats and groups that seem a little better organized.
Swimmers with masks (let’s not talk about snorkeling) live their lives, scatter in all directions despite the current, a family on one side, beginners in the other 3, sometimes join another group so another boat. The boat can not follow and it is necessary to recover after half an hour. each one and the other, some being out of sight, spectacle in 40 years of sea travel never seen before.
I spoke with many travelers during the 3 weeks spent in Labuan. The best formula seems 2 days and one night on cruise ship (slow), less subject to mass tourism and timing.

A bit of chaos but a good day. My friend and I were looking for a smaller boat to do a day tour after our diving trip. We soon realized all the operators share boats to fill them up. We were clear about wanting to be on a smaller boat even if we had to pay more. No one could be straight with us about how many people would be on the boat, we were told max 30, ‘but there are many different boats’. There were 35 of us, Ocean Queen ended up being on a private chatter so we were on a partner boat. We had to pre pay whereas everyone else seemed to pay when they arrived.
The locations are beautiful, especially the first stop to hike Padar island and our Pink beach stop. The day is decently organised and thd guys on the East Coast boat we’re really friendly.
However, putting 35 people on one Komodo walking tour when there’s tons of guides around is lazy. The animals and guides got stressed. Putting us all in the water at manta point is again too many people. This tour attracts a lot of people that can’t swim and have never been around a wild animal. It felt lazy how they handled the large group. If you genuinely care about animals and the reef, don’t book on this tour - it was painful and tainted what was otherwise a great day.
Locations were stunning, it just wasn’t the day we specifically asked for in terms of the boat size.

Great tour.
The guide was really nice, and super at spotting wildlife and taking us to the right places when snorkeling.
Stopped at 6 different places with enough time for each place.
Would recommend to everyone!

We went on the Komodo tour that went to five islands and had six stops. It was really good and was definitely the highlight of our trip to Indonesia. We went on the speed boat tour which was definitely worth it. We sped past many much slower boats during the day. We definitely wouldn't have been able to see as many things if we went on a slower boat. The ship had 4 crew members and 6 passengers. The boat was modern and safe. It was a great experience.
