        Peaceful trip with many birds
It's a long trip with maybe a little too much information about agricultural crops on the way, but an interesting stop at a bridge where iguanas live, and coffee and toilet break before the boat tour. It's a really scenic river, and we saw many birds, various monkeys and a baby crocodile. We were lucky to have a group of only 4 people so we could move around the boat and get really good views. Both the guide and the boat driver were great at spotting things. Lunch after was adequate if not exciting. Around 7 hours all told.

        Excellent guides
Guides are very good. Their English is excellent and they work hard to make sure you have an enjoyable trip. They are good at spotting wildlife and help with pictures using your own phone and their spotting scopes. They are also knowledgeable about the area, wildlife and history. Highly recommend!

        INCREDIBLE kayaking in lake Arenal
Had so much fun kayaking on the lake with Eddy! The views of the mountains and small islands are incredible! Able to see so many birds and other wildlife. Definitely a workout though, and winds can be pretty tough. Totally worth it for the experience, and Eddy made sure everyone had a good time and learned about the area. Very personable and fun! Would 100% recommend for a visit in La Fortuna

Relaxing float trip, lots of animals to see
We were picked up right on time at our resort and driven to the starting point. Our guide Nelvin was friendly, energetic and very knowledgeable. We were the only two on our tour so very personalized. Nelvin put in extra effort to make sure we were always in the best spot to see the sights. We saw many types of birds, several different iguanas, howler monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys. The snack at the end was tasty and much appreciated.

A Nice Scenic Hike Maybe Overpriced
Well-maintained trails with nice views. No animals or wildlife. Great drinks and food at the restaurant. Entrance fees high but the owner is improving the property.

        Fantastic Safari Float
What a fun excursion! We were picked up from our resort and dropped off at the put in site. Our guide, Cesar was very knowledgeable and pointed out many animals and birds we would not have noticed. We got to see a tayra, which he stated was rare; and also a Spectacled Owl with her baby, monkeys, iguanas, toucans, bats, vultures, and even a dog. He answered all of our questions and gave us the opportunity to dock the raft, swim and take photos. The river was pretty low so we didn't have to do much paddling, just floated along. At the end of the tour after getting out of the raft, we got a show from the howler monkeys. they were swinging in the trees just above our heads, babies eating bananas and "talking" to each other and basically showing off (or so it seemed). We then had a snack at the family owned soda called Cafe Mila. They served us fruit, fresh juice and fried plantains which were delicious. Of all our excursions, this one was my favorite!

        Wonderful Variety and Wildlife...
We didn't actually do this specific trip, but a very similar one and it was certainly a great day trip. Our guide, Gabriel, was great at spotting wildlife as was the skipper on the boat. Certainly a must do from Arenal if you have the extra day.

        Kayaking with Roger
Great to be kayaking when I know our rivers at home are still solid! Roger, our guide, is true CR, born under the volcano & had great knowledge of Lago Arenal, and area.

        Great waterfall, swimming allowed
Swimming in the falls was so much fun. The water was cool and deep near the falls. There are other spots to swim that has shallow water that's easier for kids. Lots of steps to get back up, but so worth it. The restaurant at the top was excellent.

Super Day Out with a lot of wildlife
This was a great tour. We got picked up from our hotel and driven to the main hub in Los Chiles, that did take a while bout our guide/driver kept us entertained with stories of Costa Rica and his knowledge about certain animals and the environment around. Once at the dock we got on a flat bottomed boat with about 15 other people, wasn't a huge group which was nice. Straight out of 'pity' we saw herons, egrets and a few king fishers. The boat trial down river was very serene. Our guides pointed out many many birds which I can't remember the name of. Do remember the potoo we saw that was special. We saw cayman, tortoises, more king fishers, a 2 toed sloth, howler monkeys and white faced moneys who were very inquisitive. After the boat trip we went back to the main hub and enjoyed fresh fruit and some nice local cuisine before being driven back to our hotel, we got back to La Fortuna around 3pm. A note on some of our boat comrades - there will always be one person who is so excited about spotting something that will will shout! Please remember to be quiet as it is a nature reserve. Also there were people with big cameras and as soon as a bird or other wildlife was seen they forgot about decency and we were literally barged out the way by people of giant camera lenses as they 'got their shot' - Please remember there are other people on the boat too!

        Fun paddle on Lake Arenal.
Two couples with lots of canoeing experience were able to get out on the water on a beautiful March day. The guide could lead us at our pace, and was an excellent bird watcher. He spotted birds and had a lot to say about them, as well as the development of the area. Great resource of information. We really enjoyed ourselves.

        Excellent guided tour
Amazing tour of Mistico Hanging Bridges with Kristel! She was one of the few guides with a camera with a zoom lens (vs a telescope) which made for excellent viewing of so many animals and fantastic photos we got to take with us! Her English was top notch and she was so knowledgeable. Thank you!

        A fun learning experience!
We had an amazing time on the safari float on the Peñas Blancas! We saw a few howler monkey troops, lots of iguanas, a caiman, and a sloth! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna! Throughout the remainder of our trip, we often referenced things he taught us about. I recommend going in the afternoon as he was easily able to find and point out animals that he had seen earlier in the day.

        Brilliant guide and tour
Our guide Kristel was brilliant! Not only was she really friendly, she knew so much about the nature and wildlife around us. It really brought the whole tour alive, we'd never have got so much out of it on our own. Then on the drive back, we chatted and learnt more about life and current affairs in Costa Rica, which was also fascinating. And to round it off, she sent us photos of the wildlife we'd seen on our tour, which was very thoughtful, and gave us lasting memories of our time in Costa Rica. Thank you Kristel!

        Relaxing and fun
We had such a lovely time on this tour! We laughed at the antics of our tour guide and were incredibly entertained with the creatures we saw on the way to and from the lake. Kayaking was relaxing and fun. The fruit provided after we got off the lake was fresh and delightful. We had a great time!

The Rio Celeste waterfall was the highlight of the trip! Our tour guide's name was Roy, and he was courteous and extremely knowledgeable of the area. He was on time to pick us up at our hotel and drove us to the park. Prior to beginning the hike, Roy stopped at the restaurant where we were having lunch so we could place our order in advance. The roads in Costa Rica can be a little sketchy at times but Roy was an excellent driver, taking extra precaution while navigating the terrain. We never felt unsafe in his care.

Roy has the ideal personality for a tour guide and you can tell he enjoys his job. He took pictures for us whenever we asked and was paying attention to the landscape, spotting wildlife and opportunities for photography both during the drive and while hiking the trail.

I would highly recommend this excursion for anyone visiting the area. It's ideal for all visitors, whether you are traveling by yourself, with friends, or with your family.

Kristel our guide was excellent, very informative and helpful with background knowledge. She made our hike very enjoyable and went out of her way to make sure we had the best experience. The icing on the cake was our driver Stephen spotting a 3 toed sloth and it’s baby up a tree on our journey back to the hotel. Kristel kindly shared her photos with us after the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour and guide.

The Rio Celeste hike was one of the highlights of our stay. Our guide's name was Roy and we went on this tour after spending a whole morning with him the day before, on another tour. Roy was an experienced and knowledgeable local guide on a lot of different topics. He was exceptional on explaining things about the fauna, flora, history and geology of the area. He spoke fluent English and drove us around carefully and safely. He would often stop on places of interest or if he spotted some of the local fauna. We saw a lot of animals in the wild, thanks to him, including a mummy sloth with a baby which was a remarkable experience.
Rio Celeste was beautiful. The water was clear and blue. The hike itself was not too difficult, although the stairs to and back from the waterfall can be a bit challenging. Lunch was delicious. We recommend this tour!
