I booked this trip a week before I got to Guilin (I live in China but was coming from elsewhere). I was really looking forward to the tour, but on July 4 (my booking was for July 5), I had not heard from the company at all (they advertise hotel pickup so I had expected to at least hear from them to get info about where I was staying). I reached out through the number listed on TripAdvisor, and I texted back and forth with the person on the other end for a little bit. They asked for my booking number and info such as whether I was traveling alone... A couple of hours later (this is still the day before my tour) I got a call from someone who was affiliated with them saying that because I was the only person signed up for the tour, they would be cancelling the tour. The man offered to set me up with a private car to still do the tour for almost double the original price, but as a single female traveler I didn't feel good about that and wasn't a fan of the price, so I declined and asked for a refund. Since it was within 24 hours of my booking, I couldn't cancel on TripAdvisor and get a full refund. I was able to see Guilin and Yangshuo on my own, but I certainly want a refund for the service I didn't get. I texted with the original person some more the next day (the day I should have gotten my tour), and they insisted they would get a refund to me once they "fixed a problem with their website." One week later I'm still waiting for my refund. The person at the original number has not responded to my texts today.

We got an outstanding help from the hotel represetive, Annie, weeks before the tour. She assisted in all the booking process - payment, car arrangement and all the the rest, and was super nice and informative. The hotel and tour staff were just perfect. They answered all our questions about China in general and Guilin area particularly. It definitely was one of the best adventures in our 3-weeks stay in China. The price worth it, and if you want to have an unforgettable experience, we recommend doing it!

Our 3D2N trips to Guilin are enjoyable with chilling weather and amazing nature sight-seeing. Once we reached the train station, we are picked up by Hotel Transfer service. Our driver cum tour guide Mr. Yang is friendly and very helpful in showing us around the town and tasting the local cuisines. I think we have exceeded our booking hours, but he does not mind to wait for us a little longer. Thumbs up for his good jobs! And the hotel that we have stayed are Secret Courtyard which have clean room and good services. The receptionist Ms. Annie is very resourceful and polite. My partner and I did the private “story of Li river” yangshuo tour. It was fantastic! So worth the money (1780 RMB for 2 people - about $395 AUD at time) to get so much in one day, especially as some of the stops are quite remote and I’m not sure if you could do these without a car. We did a bike ride along the river with beautiful country side, we went to a tea plantation and had a traditional tea ceremony (a group of Chinese tourists invited us to their table which was great) and we learnt some history of tea and how each tea should be prepared. After this we had lunch (at own expense but fair price and good food) and went on a bamboo raft down Li river and got to see the mountains up close. We then went to a lookout to see the beautiful scenery. If you have a short amount of time in the area and want to see the best bits, I highly recommend!!

Our tour with Ray was as beautiful as it was delightful. Ray is a wonderful guide who is informative and friendly. We greatly enjoyed every destination. Thank you to the amazing Staff and Rowling at Secret Courtyard Resort Hotel for recommending this tour to us.

We went on a mini group tour during staying in Guilin.It was a nice trip.With Annie's help,my wifi and I have chance to visit the most beatiful Rice terrace in Octorber.The sunshine is very beatiful. Our tour guide spoke fluent English and told many interesting stoies about local life.He was a funny guy with good patience and experienced.The bamboo rice was delicious. Although we were tired after the tour,we had so much fun.Thanks to Annie and the tour guide,we enjoyed so much happy time.I Highly recommend this tour! Unforgettable and worthy to visit!

We were taken care off by all the hotel staff as we were family , Rowling arranged all our duration stay , from being picked from the airport to our site seeing trips , the staff spoke good English . The Rooms were so Cozy , warm and sheets and blankets were very clean , house keeping did a great job , breakfast was included in and was very good . All staff kindly helped us whenever we asked for help , they ordered us taxis wherever we wanted to go , made sure the taxi driver knows where to take us . Site seeing trips were accustomed arranged to fit our needs and interests . Our tour guide Sundy spoke very good English and was very helpful . Any was another staff member at the hotel , I wish I had taken all their names to mention them , as they were all very polite , kind and helpful . The Hotel is outside Guilin City , so relaxing in a village well maintained atmosphere. If you are Looking a unique relaxation atmosphere, I recommend that place , and Again Rowling is the one to contact for a well arranged unforgettable trip .

Firstly staying at the Secret Courtyard Resort has been great, and the attention and assistance received especially from Amy has been really good! I am on a business trip, and had a few days off to relax and unwind, and have certainly NOT been disappointed! Rooms a exceptionally clean and comfortable, food is great and you have a choice of Western or Traditional Chinese, and they don't mind if you don't know how to eat with chop sticks! The village itself is an attraction on its own, and it is a short walk to the Reed Flute caves which are beautiful and a "must see"! Today I went on a day tour with another couple. The car we were taken in was new and really comfortable, and our tour guide "Sandy" was a lovely man, spoke perfect English and was extremely informative! Our first port of call was Yao Mountain, again a must see. Cable car to the top was great and the views phenomenal. We then visited a Tea plantation again great, and finally traveled down the Li river on a bamboo raft. Scenery was just amazing. If you are looking for a quieter, attentive but not overly price stay and sight seeing, then this I can highly recommend this!

We were visiting Guilin for a couple of days and had found lodging at Secret Courtyard Resort Hotel. They helped us book two tours with China Secretstory: One to check out the Li River and Yangshuo and the other to the Longji Rice Terrace and The village of Huang Luo in China's Guangxi Region. Ray was our guide on day 1. He drove us first to Huang Luo and explained the story of the Red Yao ladies and their long hair as well as set us up with lunch in the town. He was also very helpful in helping us discuss pricing with the local sellers and even assisted in getting us some ripe and delicious Passion Fruit. Next, he drove us to the Longji Rice Terraces which were astonishingly beautiful. We were going to take a tram but he let us know that the tram had a 2 hour wait and we could get up faster on a golf cart, which wound up being a fun way to get up and down from the top. We walked around the edges of the terrace and over to areas where the view was even better. Then he drove us home. The entire ride he entertained us with historical information about the tour as well as his life and home in China. We kept asking more and more questions and he was happy to discuss. The next day we had planned a 4 hour cruise down the Li River, followed by several hours in Yangshuo for shopping and then a big show at night. However, Yangshuo proved to not really have enough to keep us interested for that long and we knew the show would have us back late at night. Our guide, Michelle, helped us replan our afternoon and evening and took us back into Guilin for new shops, dinner, and a cruise in the four lakes for their light show. It was a great way to get us home earlier while still seeing some amazing sights like the sun and moon pagodas. Michelle was also an incredible guide. She told us about her life and we all discussed the differences between the US and China. She helped us with merchants, dinner, and basically anything we needed. It was a really great way to get to see a lot of Guilin in a short amount of time. Having the hotel book everything for us and take care of things was also incredibly helpful. Yes, you can book all of these excursions yourself, and cheaper. But the guides were TOP NOTCH (I've had other tours with guides who are clearly bored) and everything was taken care of for us. We always felt safe and informed. I highly recommend both the hotel (which is GORGEOUS) as well as the tours.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Very well organised and arranged by the hotel. Exceptional value for money. Our guide ‘Ray’ was a delight, funny, very knowledgable with excellent English. Plus a very patient driver. Nothing was too much trouble. Brilliant tour would highly recommend.

We had a couple of wonderful days in Guilin. During one of these days Annie at the front desk helped us arrange this full day tour to see the Longji rice terrace. We were picked up from our hotel and it was very helpful to have a guide to explain some of the culture and important information before the visit. At the terraces we hiked up to the viewing platform which I recommend to get a different view of the rice terraces. It was a bit tricky to follow to path but it was very rewarding and you could go out on some rice fields to get nice pictures. We were there in mid October which was just before harvest so the rice fields were golden and beautiful.

We had a couple of wonderful days in Guilin and would have loved to stay longer at the Secret Courtyard hotel. Annie at the front desk was very sweet and helpful and took care of absolutley everything. She helped us arrange a full day tour to see the Longji Rice terraces which were stunning! We hiked up to the viewing platform which I recommend to get a different view of the rice terraces than from the platform. Guilin was a highlight on our China trip much thanks to Annie and the Secret Courtyard hotel.
