- MJD0130 contributionsAn excellent morning with excellent guidesWe booked a morning session with Real Rocks, and were delighted with their service. I had gotten in touch with them (Jay) via WhatsApp, and clarified a few questions regarding pick-up, costs, etc in the morning. They organised a special hotel pickup (since our hotel wasn't in the pick-up area they service). The taxi took us to their shop/office, where we got kitted out with shoes, helmet, harness, etc. We were then taken to the ferry, to catch a boat to Railay Beach We had five people in our group, and two guides - Kung and Sha. Which makes for an excellent guide-to-participant ratio. We were taken to East Railay beach for a few climbs, and then walked to the West side of the peninsular, for a few more. All the climbs were in the shade, which made it a lot more enjoyable. In total, we had about 3 hrs worth of climb time; which was more than sufficient. For a first-timer, I had my fill till I could do no more. Both Kung and Sha were absolutely fantastic, and took pains to yell encouragement and directions during our climbs. After the climbs, we were put on a ferry, taken back to the office, and they also dropped us off at Ao Nang beach. An excellent morning, thanks to Kung & Sha, and the team at Real Rocks. Highly recommended.Written August 6, 2024
- 363signek0 contributionsAdrenaline kick! This was one of our favorite activities! Half day tour was the perfect amount of climbing for us (beginners). We had a super fun and helpful instructor and the surroundings were so fascinating and beautiful. Would for sure recommend this if you enjoy adrenaline and a challenge!Written May 13, 2024
- L1890DBabbyl0 contributionsGreat full day of climbing and adventuring around railayWe had a great experience with Real Rocks Private full day tour. Our guide, Lek, met us at our level and made sure we felt comfortable and safe while challenging ourselves on some awesome climbs. The views were stunning and he was great at keeping us in the shade away from the heat of the sun all day. Doing the full day allowed us to repel, adventure through the cave and check out multiple different climb spots. Lek even had time to give us some refreshers on lead climbing which was great to practice on our breaks!Written May 5, 2024
- simplesmentes20200 contributionsI don't know if the company is a little dodge or if we were unlucky with our guide. We have regrated our experience booking a private tour with Real Rocks. We started our day by climbing at Princess Cave where our guide basically just belayed us as we climbed the ropes from other groups that were there also climbing. We climbed from around 9:40am to 11:50am before the guide announced a lunch break of 1h and half hour till 13:30pm. After feeling not too happy with the service and already feeling the heat too much, we decided to cancel it and still being charged, 5200BHT for 2 hours climbing. I guess it was an easy money for that two hours since the guide didn't have even to climb to set any climb. I would highly suggest looking for other companies in Railay and really make sure if the private session doesn't involve climbing with other groups where you have to wait for turns. Furthermore, there was no helmet offered to us which is the minimum safety equipment. I don't know if the company is a little dodge or if we were unlucky with our guide.Written April 28, 2024
- Milenad11950 contributionsVery nice climbing experienceWe were a group of four with one guide (Pom) and had a really nice climbing experience. We felt very secure when Pom secured us by climbing. He always pushed us a to stay positive, gave us instructions how to overcome difficult spots. We climbed routes that we wouldn't have thought possible. This was quite motivating.Written March 15, 2024
- Pizzatuna0 contributionsPoor experience; I would choose other school in Railey.Yes, the location is gorgeous - climbing the rock with a view on a 20 shades of blue sea? The school employees indeed picked us up from the hotel, and have all equipment. But the good experience ends there… First of all, not a single instructor was friendly. I felt like I’m in a some kind of a factory, being asked to move around like in army. There was no introductory talk to climbing, what I found strange, inefficient and even dangerous. Fortunately, I’m not a beginner, so I know how to climb, but there were people coming to ME to help with their harness or just simply asking for tips how to climb. And as much as I was happy to help, that wasn’t my job. The instructors did not even answer questions - they would just look at you with a smirk on their faces as if you’re a clown. There was a bottled water, but only 1 bottle of 0,5 liter per person, so make sure you bring some extra because climbing outdoor in 30 degrees can easily make you dehydrated. There were 3 instructors and over 15 participants - some of them were able to climb TWICE within 4 hours. At some point I was helping to belay other people because there were extra ropes hanging OR when one instructor would go on a cigarette break (!!!). Also, “our ropes” have been also used by other people who signed up for a class with other schools. I’m not sure why, but that definitely decreased the opportunities for members of our group to climb. And the routes, as beautiful as they were, were also really boring… all of them were relatively difficult for a beginner and people were just frustrated. Some participants expected that we change the location at some point, but that wasn’t the case. Also, the school didn’t give us helmets on a default, and it doesn’t sound safe especially if you know most of the participants are beginners - you’d need to request a helmet it in their school location. But how would you even know you need a helmet if you’re a beginner? My friend and I were “unfortunate” to participate in a few other half day courses in other places and with other schools, so I’m writing this review with some point of reference how a climbing outdoor class can look like. I wouldn’t come back to climb with this school.Written March 12, 2024
- slawomirj7630 contributionsGreat fun experienceI’ve never had any interest in rock climbing tbh but since I’ve stayed in Railay for few days I’ve decided to try and it was fun experience. The instructors where pushy when you needed it but not to much they provided clear instructions and advice and they were really fun to be around. I had great time highly recommendedWritten February 25, 2024

- filipsM1601IP0 contributionsGo cliiiiimbSuper fun! Truly funny guides, but in a non-pushy way. Amazing location and interesting climbs! We could go for a swim at the lovely Railay beach, too!Written February 4, 2024
- Rebecca_Dou0 contributionsLate Pick UpThe guides were very helpful and this was a beginner friendly experience. That being said they were almost 1 hr late for pick up and I was the only person on the truck when I was picked up, so if I had not called, I think it was likely I would have not been picked up at all.Written January 31, 2024
- Codey P0 contributionsLives up to the hypeThis was the activity I was most excited for in Krabi. And it lived up to all of the hype. My instructor was super flexible and helpful. Two of the people in my group had never climbed before and I had some experience. He matched us up with appropriate climbs according to our skill levels and gave assistance to people if they needed it. (Telling people where to grab and which way to go). It was a fantastic experience. And my favorite part of my trip to Krabi. If I didn’t have to leave so soon I would definitely have done it again.Written January 21, 2024

- jasonwK4343CO0 contributionsFun and forever memorable for the whole familyThe guides were super friendly and helpful. Everyone in my family (three girls 8 through 15, my wife, and I) completed multiple challenging routes up an impressive cliff on a beautiful beach. It was a terrific and memorable half-day adventure.Written December 26, 2023
- meganpage20150 contributionsFamous place to climb for all levels of climbersTar was hilarious. An experienced guide who knew how to entertain us, even myself who chose to opt out of the climb at the last minute after being harnessed up. He made sure I was comfortable, he was respectful and never pressured me to do anything I dint want to. His drop rope knot trick is perfect and he has good banter. My husband bounded up the first climb and decided that was enough for him. We have both climbed a few faces previously albeit years ago so didn't feel bad about abandoning early. 3rd guest finished 2 climbs and also called it a day as we still had another activity to get to. Her feedback and we agree was the instructor didn't check in with what experience anyone in the group had previously had, helmets fitted incorrectly, guest 3s fell of her head while she was almost the top understandably she wasn't happy about that and finally having an extra spotter on the ground would be gold standard (quite a few random climbers wandered through, stepping on ropes, slipping on the slightly muddy and inclined surfaces etc looking for information or were in the wrong spot) but we recognise this is an extra cost and maybe Tar and his 19 years of exp doesn't need it. Monkeys came to visit and had a look at the bags until I chased them away and a huge lizard ambled up the rock wall next to another climber, that was special. If climbing is your thing you probably couldn't get a better place to test yourself and if you are a beginner there are set rope climbs you can manage.Written December 14, 2023

The experience was truly amazing. Ip was our private guide for a full day tour, and he took us to a variety of climbs. My husband and I are intermediate climbers to start, so wanted to try different kind of climbs including easy ones and challenging routes. Ip didn't disappoint and gave us just the right amount of challenge between reasonable breaks. By mid day, my husband and I already felt like we had a great time. Little did we know, the afternoon was even better. Would highly recommend this company and ask for Ip if you can, as a tour guide.

I did the full day course and was with a group of 7 with 2 tour guides in the morning. We were at Phrao Nang Beach for the morning and got to climb often, you need the rests in between while other climbers climb.
In the afternoon I was the only climber doing the full day course with a guide, we were on railay east and got to ask and say where and what I wanted to climb and the guide (Chad) gave me good tips and helped - all round, really good learning and climbing with insane views!!!

Amazing experience! Super cool guides. We climbed at a more populated spot in the morning, then broke off from the bigger group to go caving and abseiling which were awesome. Then met back up after lunch for some climbing in a more remote spot.

Real rocks did a great job. They helped us arrange transportation. The instructors were fun and helpful. The climbing spots were beautiful and well suited for people who have done a little bit of climbing. The caving was a great way to finish the day. It’s more of an advanced beginner type trip - if you have never climbed before in your life it might be more of a challenge than advertised. We have climbed a handful of times in our life (indoor and outdoor) and it was a great challenge but not so difficult that we were discouraged. FYI, if you do the full day, lunch is not included, but you get about 2 hours to go into the town to explore and eat. There are many restaurants to choose from and dishes are very cheap. Also, consider bringing a bathing suit if you want to enjoy the beach between climbs or after.

Amazing experience! I was slightly worried at first because of my fear of heights, but my instructor was very encouraging and he made me feel like I was in safe hands. My friend who never had any experience with climbing prior to this program said that she also enjoyed it very much. Caving in the afternoon was also much better than I expected. The view was simply breathtaking. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who's traveling in Krabi. Can't wait till I come back here myself:))

It was a perfect day. We booked the whole day. And we got maximum, we could. Despite the fact, that lunch break was 2 hours instead of 1, we even finished our day earlier. Because to 4 pm we were done. The routes were super, different lengths, different difficulty, different places. Also were good covered from the rain. And we got personal instructor for us two. It was very- very good.

We did the full day of rock climbing and we definitely recommend it. The morning just gets you comfortable with rock climbing and in the afternoon, you can really get in to it with a new area to climb. Chad and Phon were awesome! They were great and patient instructors. They took the time to teach us and help us improve our skills.

Amazing day. Rock climbing was awesome and such incredible location. They looked after and ensured it was safe. The hike and trio via bat cave was excellent with incredible photo opportunities and then abseiling down was amazing. I recommend the full day. It was exhilarating and exhausting but well worth it!

What time will we be returning to the hotel in Ao Nang, after a full day o climbing?
Written April 18, 2024
Hello,
Ill be in Krabi/Railay beach between the 19 and 21 of december this year (2019) and strongly looking into a day, or half day of climbing. I'm not into lead climbing at the moment but in "top-rope belaying".
Do i need to book in advance for a day or a half day of climbing or i only need to show up at the desk ?
Thanks !
