What to Expect
After departing Whitehorse, we set out west along the Alaska Highway. After two hours, we will make a stop at the Village Bakery in Haines Junction. From Haines Junction, we will continue down the historic and world renowned Haines Highway. After crossing the Chilkat Pass (3,510 ft) we descend from alpine tundra to seawater in a matter of minutes. After crossing the Canada / U.S. boarder, we will follow the bank of the Chilkat river an additional hour into Haines.

David was super quick to respond to my (many) emails and picked us up at our lunch stop in Haines Junction. He pointed out a lot of the sights between HJ and Haines, and let us sleep, which was needed. We felt safe with him...More
