One of the most sought-after Northern experiences, a Yukon winter vacation is only complete with viewing the aurora borealis cascading across the Yukon night sky. A chemical light reaction caused when solar energy interacts with the Earth’s atmosphere, producing dramatic, dancing waves of green light from one horizon to another the Northern Lights have captivated viewers since the beginning of time, as evidence by the many Yukon First Nation legends they’ve inspired. We invite you to join us on our Aurora viewing tour at our custom built Aurora viewing location, far from the lights of the city, so you can experience the Northern Lights for yourself – and create your own legends.

After struggling to book a Northern Lights tour our whole trip we walked into the Arctic Range storefront and managed to be booked onto the next evening's tour. The gentleman who signed us up was very friendly, and informative about the tour and the northern lights in general. The pick up was on time, and with no issues at all.
We drove out about 30 minutes to the viewing location where there were two yurts, each with hot drink facilities and a warm fireplace as well as compost toilet in on yurt (very clean). There was also a tepee outside with a roaring campfire.
Staff were very friendly, helpful at both providing information and showing people how to set up their cameras to get the best photos. There was an opportunity to get a professional photo taken for a fee.
We arrived just before midnight and left at about 3am. We had all that time free to spend as we wished - we took photos outside and watched the lights, then returned to the yurt to warm up, alternating both for most of the night.
There were around 30-40 people there on the night I visited. A great experience, one I'll never forget. Well worth the cost as the dark sky and lack of light pollution, however minor, from the town meant the clearest possible way to view the lights and the stars which were all so bright

As a first timer to see the northern lights they were a lot of things I was not prepared or read up online all they tell you is it should be clear skies, not cloudy and just hope for the best.
The coaster picked us up right on time. there’s 24 in the bus it was pretty full we were lucky and we ended up seeing northern lights because it was clear skies in order to be clear skies you must see the stars if you don’t see stars in the sky’s then that’s considered cloudy.
In all the pictures you see online it’s because of the camera it’s very hard to see green lights with the naked eye all you will see with the naked eye is a white line that looks like a cloud. So if you don’t bring an SLR camera with you and just your regular phone pretty much you’re not gonna get a good photo of the northern lights. They charge 20$ a photo or buy more than 5 photo for 15$ on a USB they provide. They feed you snack cookie chips and tea coffee hot choco. Smores making in camp fire. Over all we got lucky and saw the lights. Make sure before you book it’s not full moon you want dark skies, go new moon where it’s dark. If cloudy than you won’t see anything good. If your trip is short and all week is cloudy than bad luck for you,

We visited the Yukon territory after talking about it for years.
We reserved two consecutive nights
to augment our chances for a successful viewing.
Shungo was our pilot both nights, we truly enjoyed his company and his amicable demeanour.

Also we visited the Yukon preserve park led by Yuuri and guided by a provincial ranger.

It was relaxing and informative simultaneously, getting up close to rescued indigenous animals.

Thank you to both of you for a great experience and we hope to return to the Yukon one day.

We did not see the Northern Lights on this outing due to overcast sky. Based on the experience of the operator and the tour guide, I suspect they/he had a good idea on not seeing the Northern Lights, so the trip ended-up being a cash-grab.
At the pickup point, we should have been warned and given an option to skip and a refund.

We appreciate your feedback and understand your disappointment about not being able to see the Northern Lights during your one-night tour with us. As you might be aware, the Northern Lights are a natural phenomena and it can depend on two main factors to see them: 1. the Northern Lights need to be active 2. the weather needs to be somewhat clear To help our guest to chose the most favourable night to join our tour we have a 'Aurora & Weather Forecast' on our website that shows you the probability and even tells you our advise for the next 3 days. It also happens often that the Northern Lights show during a night that didn't have a great forecast. That's the reason why there is always a chance to see the Northern Lights and we will always run our tour at the scheduled time.

Booked with Arctic range Feb 18th and unfortunately didn’t see aurora due to a storm but had a blast anyhow. From tipis to hot chocolate, they had everything ready. I booked again with them February 20th and was blessed and lucky to see the lights. Brian, our guide and driver was super nice and informative. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Just be ready, it gets COLD at night. The only thing I wish is that I rented clothes

We did several things when we were in Whitehorse, but, the northern lights tour was the least favorite thing. We were tired since the flight we took made us get to the airport so early in the morning. The guides were very nice and tried to entertain us by doing what they could to entertain us. We only went out two times cause we had to be out of our rooms by around 4 am. So, we missed the last night. I absolutely love Whitehorse though and want to visit there again in the winter. So beautiful!!!

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the northern lights tour as much as we'd hoped for. Staying up late for a chance to see the northern lights is usually worthwhile if you get rewarded by seeing the dancing lights.

We booked in to do the aurora evening after a snow shoeing trip with Arctic Range.

Pick up from the hotel went nice and smoothly, and we were taken out to where their huts were outside of Whitehorse itself. The buildings were nice and warm, and they had a few spotters outside to watch for when the lights came out which meant you didn't have to sit in the cold all night waiting. Our guide helped us with our cameras, and they had a number of tripods that you could use which was great.

Plenty of snacks and warm drinks were available as well, along with bathroom.

We managed to see a small display which was nice, would have been great to see a really strong one, but they can't control the weather or sky.

The experience did not. Live up to the advertised expectations. The heated bus, was not heated and extremely cold and uncomfortable. The Guide / driver did not speak or do any explanation of the Aurora. The good food and drink, was a bunch of packaged cookies, a bowl of chips and a half bowl of nacho chips, with tea, or infant coffee. The tepees were a danger, where one caught fire and they had no plan or equipment to put it out other than to try and throw snow at it! The Stars were beautiful , the Aurora unfortunately was weak but that is the chance you take. The overall experience was not worth the money paid, it was basically a $ 135.00 cold bus ride! definitely not as advertised . There were a lot of people crammed into one unit, they are making a good profit on this tour offering. Very disappointed!!!

Thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry to hear we didn't quite meet your expectation. We always strive to provide a memorable experience for each guest on our tour and we value your feedback. The small fire in the teepee was actually quickly taken care of by our guides. They used fire extinguisher to take care of a small fire which started around the fire pit. This is the first time something like this happened and of course we will review our safety protocol to make sure this won't happen again.

I’ve paid a trip to see the auroreas today, but the weather is so bad, it’s snowing a lot. I’ve asked for changing the trip to another day but they don’t let you and don’t refound the money. If you book the trip with this company have in mind this.

Thank you very much for your feedback and raising your concerns. We very much value our guest's opinion about our tours and our services. Rest assured that we constantly strive to improve our services where ever possible, from every feedback we receive from our guest. When our tour guide met you at the tour start you ask to cancel the tour since the weather forecast predicted snow fall. Our tour guide mentioned that there is always a chance for the sky to open up during the evening and that's the reason we always run our Aurora Viewing tours. Most of our guest travel from far away to have a chance to see the Aurora Borealis and the last thing we want is for our guest to miss a great Aurora Viewing tour only because the weather forecast didn’t look promising at the tour start. We also pointed out at the time our guide met you that if you cancel the tour we won't be able refund since it's too short notice. You decided to join the Aurora Viewing tour to our AuroraCentre and enjoyed the evening learning about Aurora Photography, making Maple Tuffies and listening to stories of our tour guides. The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon which can only be predicted to a certain degree. Even though there are several websites predicting the Aurora Borealis level by posting a forecast for the next 3-4 days there is still a certain degree of 'luck' involved to see the Aurora Borealis especially if you only plan one evening. Through our extensive experience of operating Aurora Viewing Tours we arrange our tours according the typically and ideal time in the evening (depending on the season). Those times are listed on our website so that our guest can prepare for our tours accordingly. Without saying, we can sympathise if you feel a little disappointed if you can’t see the Aurora Borealis due to the weather conditions, but we hope you can understand even though we always strive to provide our guest with a magical Aurora Viewing Experience, unfortunately the weather is something we can control. As a standard practice we post our booking terms on our website which you agreed to when you booked our Aurora Viewing Tour.

Sophia was the guide on the tour I took, and she was woderful - such an asset to the company.  Before I did the tour, I didn't understand that seeing the northern lights with your naked eye isn't always possible, so that was a little disappointing, but obviously not the company's fault. We did get to see the lights peeking out between the clouds, and it was great to get a photo taken for a momento. There was ample hot drinks and snacks like chips and cookies available, and it was nice to toast marshmellows on the fire inside a teepee.
