A wonderful guide and very informative tour
Our guide, Charles, did an excellent job in conveying his love and respect for his home city and country. He presented the history of Canada (necessarily brief in a two hour tour) in an easy to understand manner. He made us tourists feel very at ease, always explained things clearly, and answered all questions. This tour has been a high point in our visit to Quebec City.

Great activity to begin your stay in Old Quebec!
I'd recommend this walking tour on the first day of your stay in Old Quebec, as it orientates you to the streets and the city, as well as sparks your interest in other places you may want to visit during your stay. The tour guide did a great job narrating the script and historical stories which shape Old Quebec's history. I learned much about the city and its architecture from the narration. The tour involves two hours on your feet walking on cobblestone, brick, stone trails, and regular sidewalks. I'd recommend stable sneakers or supported shoes. Also, you walk several inclines and steep declines during the tour, so one should be in good health and able to navigate these terrains.

The tour covered a lot of interesting places, and the 4 food stops were very tasty. Though our guide had a lot of information, it came out very scattered, so much of the information was hard to follow.

The tour was amazing. Our tour guide gave us lots of history lessons, and we took pictures to remember our time in Quebec. Thanks for a great tour.

Not for picky eaters, but a great tour if you are a foodie
Had a great experience on this tour (Saturday evening in early September). I never caught the guide's real name as they take on historical character personas (with costume) during the tours, but he was very good. We went to 3 high end restaurants and a gelato stand in the Old Town. The portions were not large, we actually ended up needing to go to a restaurant after the tour, because we were still hungry....which is not like other food tours we have done that gave too much food. Loved the history stories and sights in between the restaurants - we learned a lot. The food is creative, so probably not enjoyable for kids or for picky eaters. There was an alcohol and a mocktail option at the 3 restaurants. Note that there is a lot of time spent outdoors and quite a bit of walking, so make sure to dress appropriately. And, this is Quebec City, there are hills, so wear comfortable shoes.

      Great tour!
Great informative tour, guide was engaging and knowledgable. There are quite a few hills to walk so it is not for everyone (some in our tour had to leave) but if one is fairly fit it should be a problem. Quebec City is amazing!

Charmant et instructif! (charming and informative)
What a fun way to explore la ville ville de Québec! Jean-Claude was so charming, informative, knowledgeable and personable - wearing period costume and engaging us in a well paced tour broken down into 4 centuries of history - and FOOD! The selected restaurants were excellent, accommodating my food intolerances graciously ... we thoroughly enjoyed this fun tour of this beautiful city! ( the walking distance was not excessive, but there are hills and cobblestones) Merci bien!

Highly recommend 3 exquisite restaurants farm to table and historical sights and knowledge
This was an excellent tour with complete historical facts and fun facts! Our guide Gary was great! We went to three top restaurants in Quebec and had a beautiful specialty of the chef and pairing of either, wine, sparkling or spirit. The food was amazing! We even finished with desert. It made our trip special and Highly recommend!!

Such a wonderful way to spend 3 hours
Jean Claude guided us on this entertaining and educational tour. We loved it. He was very personable. He made eye contact and engaged the group. The pace was perfect for those of us when we had trouble with the hills. 4 stops for food, 4 wonderful restaurants and plenty of history. If you ever get a chance to take this tour, do it!

      History - History - History
It's our first time in Old Quebec City. We'd heard about and read many charming things about the city but did not know much about the history. We went on a 2-hour tour led by a tour guide dressed in historical clothing who knew a lot about the social, cultural, political history of the City. He was funny, engaging, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour.

Really enjoyed the tour. It was on my 80th birthday. Tour was very fascinating, and the tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. His name escapes me, something like Jean Claude??? I highly recommend.

      Old Quebec is beautiful.
Very enjoyable 2 hours walking through old Quebec city with our guide Charles. We did not know much of the history of the city but felt very informed by the end of this tour. The pace and walking was easy despite this area being quite hilly in places. Well priced tour and well worth your time. Thank you to Charles who was excellent.

We met our guide on the Dufferin Terrace just outside Château Frontenac where we had an overview of the construction and architecture before going inside. The lobby was amazing, we got to see one of the empty rooms and got the chance to go into the Salon Rose where the historic secret Quebec Conference took place in World War II. The tour is just 1 hour but provides a great overview of such an amazing place and things you would not know if just walking through on your own.

This isn't a reflection of the guide, rather the booking system. It's not clearly obvious when booking through the phone optimized website which tour will be in french and which will be in english, and when I realized the mistake, I requested a refund and was denied. There aren't enough tour times offered to really be able to change over, and there are no percentage refunds offered. It was really unfortunate that the difference isn't made clearer in the title or description of the tour, and I have a feeling they do this purposefully by how rude the customer service associate was. Will never book again.

Bonjour, Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. We totaly agree with you: not only the tour itself has to meet guests expectations but the booking process also! Therefore we will definitely look into it carefully and do whatever we can to improve the clarity of information provided at time of booking. Now, I'd be curious to find out which customer service associate you contacted, because we will not tolerate any type of rudeness in our clientele service. Did you contact Viator customer support? Or did you contact us at Cicerone Tours directly? Please kindly advise. Our recommendation to customer when chagnes in bookings are required is to contact us directly, preferably by phone (our number shows on the confirmation voucher) and so we can meet your needs quickly and efficiently. Finally, we understand that you were not happy with the number of different departure times offered but please unserstand that the pandemic has affected our operations quite a bit over the last year and a half with all sanitary restrictions evolving on a daily basis, in addition to the limited staff crew we needed to compose with recently. But please trust that we are doing everything we can to provide the best guest experience possible within those parameters. Thank you for your understanding Sincerely,

The guide was full of great facts AND just a joyful person with a great sense of humor. I loved how he dressed the part. The tour provided a lot more info than just about the building; it provided historic and cultural context too. Would definitely recommend it for any history buffs. You also get to see rooms normally off-limits to people just wandering around (e.g. ballrooms etc).

This was not a great experience unfortunately. Maybe it just was our guide. She talked so soft we could hardly hear her. Also she didn't seem to be very well prepared. She didn't provide all that much interesting information that we couldn't have gotten on our own. We were very disappointed and felt it was way too expensive for what we paid. Half the initial group left part way thru the tour it was so bad.

This was an outstanding tour well worth the money spent. The guide, in costume, was extremely knowledgeable and told stories, rather than "conduct a tour". His presentation was filled with interesting information and pictures, he kept on topic and being allowed inside the Chateau was extra special.

Our tour of the Château Frontenac was an enchanting way to way to explore the history and interior spaces of Quebec’s most iconic landmark. It was delightful having the guide dressed in period costume chronicling the origins of the hotel and how it has changed over the years during various phases of development. Claudette, our guide, was fantastic. She allowed us to see several dining and leisure spaces that were closed during off-hours. She even got us entry to see one of the hotel suites for reference of what luxuries come with standard accommodations. Of the two walking tours we did in Quebec City, this was by far our favorite one!

It’s a great way to learn about the Frontenac hotel and its history. The meeting point was easy to find. We got to the kiosk as instructed in the address below, and our tour guides arrived on time. Female and a male dressed in a historical costume. They were both very kind and friendly but we decided to go with the male tour guide. And we were happy about the decision. He was very nice and explained everything slowly and in detail in English. The lady tour guide was speaking very fast. Our tour guide took us inside the hotel and showed us every special room and explained everything in detail. He was super friendly. We were allowed to take photos. It’s a great way to get to see the areas that is restricted to the public but these guides allows you to go in and gives full access to the restricted zones. Which was very amazing. The hotel tour was amazing and I definitely recommend everyone else to go and book this tour if you are visiting Quebec city for the first time.

An absolutely excellent tour - engaging and informative! A must for anyone travelling to Quebec City! You learn tidbits of information and hear anecdotes about the Chateau Frontenac and the city that you won’t get elsewhere! The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. This was the second time we have taken this tour and we would book it again in a heartbeat! The only thing we missed was being shown one of the rooms at the Chateau Frontenac. We had been allowed the privilege of visiting one (actually, two rooms) with our tour group the first time but, this time around, we did not visit one! I know that it probably depends on occupancy, but we were also wondering if it’s because it’s Winter and boots might make too much of a mess. Maybe a tour in the Summer gets you more?!

It was a great tour lead by the very humorous character "Thomas." My children said it was the best tour we had on our whole trip. Very informative with just the right amount of interactive content. 1 hour long - perfect! After you can explore the shops inside and the small museum on the lower floor followed by a refresher from the Starbucks. Next time we have all agreed we need to do the tour of old Quebec city with them!
