My wife and I booked a whale watching cruise in Tadoussac with AML on line. Included in that price, which was deeply discounted was a cruise in either Quebec City or Montreal. As we were going to be in Quebec City for several days we opted to take the cruise there. The cruise itself is 1.5 hours in length. You cruise from the old port to Ile d'Orleans and the falls all the while learning some fascinating facts about Quebec and the seaway. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They keep you safe during these times and I saw a mrmber of the crew constantly spraying high touch areas with cleaner and wiping it down. Drinks and food are available on board. Lots of fun and interesting way to see Quebec City. Note there is an area of the ship where you cannot hear the tour guide. This area is for people you would like some peace and quiet while enjoying the scenery.

This is a great cruise with interesting narratives along the way. Wait staff will come around a couple times if you prefer staying in your seat throughout the cruise. If you feel like stretching your legs, then food and beverages are served inside the cabin, which is very spacious. On sunny days, do not forget to bring sunblock and a hat (the bigger the better because the sun will get your face and back of the neck as the ship changes ots direction). Great pic opportunities will be presented!

We cruised from downtown Quebec City to the Isle d"Orleans and back. This cruise wasn't as nice as many that we've been on but it was still interesting. The commentary was good once we moved to an area where we could hear it.
Frankly many in the crowd where we started out (air conditioned room) seemed mostly interested in talking and drinking. They certainly were not interested in the commentary.

I can't imagine this will be allowed for long. Yes, some of the passengers wore masks. But in the midst of Covid Pandemic part IV, they had us packed on that ship like sardines, and it was impossible to remain socially distant. Obviously, they need to make up for lost revenue due to the lockdown. I can't see how this can be allowed when the Covid rate is climbing again. Half of the ship was unvaccinated, unmasked children. If it was a schoolyard, they would have all been forced to wear masks.

Hello, First of all, it is important for you to know that we calculate the number of people who embark on our boats. Regarding the COVID, customers are supposed to wear the mask when the distance of two meters is not respected. It is written on our website with our sanitary instructions. Regarding children, the last government guidelines for this summer gave the chance to children 10 years old and under not to wear the mask. We adapt ourselves from day to day according to the instructions we receive. We are sincerely sorry that your experience was not up to your expectations, but we thank you for your constructive feedback.

The trip was alright. I guess I caught a fairly empty trip as there was enough space to freely walk around and shoot pictures from different angles. So great for Covid times.
The commentary was excellent and I learned a lot. Super nice staff and bilingual. No complains.

Did an afternoon cruise of old Quebec City. Arrived early and secured a nice table. However, other guests felt compelled to drag chairs out of the bar or deck and sit wherever they wanted. So much for views or social distancing. No lack of screaming children on board.

The cruise portion of the tour was from Old Quebec which you can reach via the Funicular or a flight of steps. The cruise is about 1-1/2 hours with a good commentary in both English and French. It gives you a good view of Montmorency Falls, the Ile D’Orleans and Quebec City. The Express Tour was on one of the Hop on-Hop off busses without the Hop on-Hop off feature. It did give you a quick orientation of the city but was just so-so. I think for the price, some of the other tours offered would have been money well spent.

My wife and I took the Québec City guided sightseeing cruise on the Louis Jolliet in early July.  We specifically wanted to see Québec City by water and thought this would be a good way to get an overview of the city and surrounding area.  When we purchased our tickets for the cruise, we were also given the opportunity to sign up for an hour-long city tour later in the day that cost only $5 (Canadian) more.  We opted to sign up for both.  We were very pleased with both tours and felt that both helped us to learn more about Québec City and get acquainted with where things are in and around the city.

Our boat cruise began at 11:30 AM.  People began to line up around 10:45 AM.  We joined the line at 11 AM and were easily able to find indoor seats on the cruise.  The day was sunny and warm, but we opted to spend part of our time indoor and part outdoor so as to not get too much sun exposure.  The cruise on the St. Lawrence River was 90-minutes long and covered the Cap Diamant section of Québec City (site of the Old City and Plains of Abraham) to the Montmorency Falls area.  The morning cruise was an optimal time to go if you wanted good photographs of the Old City and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac hotel because the sunlight was shining directly on the view from the river at this time.  By the afternoon, the Old City was mostly in shadow.  The highlight of the tour was the narration in both English and French by a guide dressed as the French-Canadian explorer Louis Jolliet.  He actually spoke almost the entire length of the tour and provided a wealth of background information.  He also pointed out all the significant places to look along with the history of the different areas along the route.  There was also food, drinks, and souvenirs on the ship.  As expected, the prices, in general, were higher than you would pay on the mainland.

At 4:30 PM, we took the one-hour city tour that departed from the Place d’Armes park near the front of the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac hotel on Fort Street.  We sat on the top of a double-decker bus that took us around the upper and lower parts of the Old City.  It also took us outside the walls to the granary silos at the Port of Québec as well as the government buildings, the Plains of Abraham, and Cartier Avenue.  The tour lasted a full hour and was very informative.  We learned a lot about the history of Québec City and we identified areas that we wanted to visit while we were staying in the city.

We felt that the best thing about taking both tours was that we learned about the layout of the city and saw many major sites that were in Québec City.  During the 90-minute boat ride and one-hour bus tour, we learned about many major attractions, sites, and areas of the city.  From this point on, we were free to make our own decisions and visit the places that interested us.  For us, this was an efficient use of our time for a reasonable amount of money.

Hi, WOW, thank you so much for this awesome comment. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and that it was worth your money. The cruise and the bus trip is such a great combo for tourists that are here to know more about the city. Hope to see you on board again one day!

SUMMARY
A large ship that that travels to the Orleans Island Bridge and back while providing views of the Montmorency Falls from a distance and the shoreline of Quebec City. It is a nice and relaxing cruise once things get started, but my kids got bored quickly.

RECOMMENDATIONS: I recommend for adults to go alone, get a glass of wine and relax with the scenery and leave the kids behind. ;)

PROS
* Quiet and Relaxing
* Nice views of the shoreline and just being out on the water is a plus
* Lots of seating inside and out.
* A bar

CONS
* Takes at least about 20+ minutes to board and disembark
* After about 10-15 minutes, my family took pictures and then said, "ok, we are done". It's not the best for impatient teenagers.
* Table service was so slow. I decided to walk to the bar to get drinks myself. I think there was very little staff for the hundreds of people on the trip.

TIPS:
* Go early to the front of the boat. Folks scrambled to the front of the boat when we reached the falls. It was difficult to get an open spot to take pictures.

Hello, Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to make a complete review for our guided cruise! I see that adults have enjoyed the experience! However, it's not really an adventure for thrill seekers! It is nevertheless interesting to learn more about the history of Quebec City. Maybe a dinner cruise would have more appeal to teenagers? ;) See you aboard! The communication team
