About
Filled with narrow lanes and pedestrian-only streets, the historic center of Quebec City is best explored on foot. This guided walking tour ensures you won’t miss the details that make the city so fascinating. Take advantage of Quebec City’s layout by following a downhill route from beginning to end, as a guide shares stories from the fortified city that’s the beating heart of French Canada.

Highlights
  • Experiencing Quebec City with a guide means you’ll see and understand more
  • Visit pedestrian-only sites in the heart of the historic city
  • Follow a gentle, downhill-only route from Upper Town to Lower Town
  • Finish by the Old Quebec Funicular, which links Lower Town and Upper Town
What to expect
  • Make your way to a central location in Quebec City’s Upper Town, and then join your guide for a small-group tour of the historic center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set out on foot to running commentary on the modern-day culture and long history of Quebec City, passing stone buildings with a distinctly European feel. You’ll see the Fortifications of Quebec, and learn the important role that the city walls once played. Pass La Citadelle de Quebec (Quebec Citadel), an active military installation and the official residence of the Canadian monarch, then take in Notre Dame des Victoires—one of the oldest stone churches in Canada. Cross Place Royale, often called the birthplace of French America, and wrap up the tour near the base of the Old Quebec Funicular, where you can hop a ride back up to the Upper Town without retracing your steps uphill.

Quirky Guides
Friendly guides with interesting information. Walk took the tour through the entire old town. The ending of the walk was at a good spot and highlighted good gems of the city with recommended food spots.

We were delighted with the walking tour guided by Clarisse. She made history come alive with interesting stories and facts about the early settlement. She was extremely knowledgable and had a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this tour. Ask for Clarissa!

Marie was a fantastic host. The whole experience couldn't have been better. This really helped us appreciate and enjoy the rest of our time in Quebec City because we had a solid introduction to the architecture and history of the city. Highly recommended.

Louise LaBelle is a fantastic guide and this walking tour was well worth taking
Oct 2021
We take walking tours all over the world. What set this one apart and made it special was our guide, Lousie LaBelle whose many years living in Quebec gave her a long perspective on the city, its history, and the changes it continues to make. Besides covering all the main sites in Old Quebec, Lousie wove a story together that not only made the tour a great learning experience but made it a ton of fun. Louise is a warm, witty woman whose talent is a joy to participate in.

Our guide made this tour awesome
Our first time in Quebec City so took a walking tour to see and learn more about this beautiful historic place. Our tour guide, Francis, made the tour an interesting, educational, humorous and memorable experience. Throughout our two hour walk through upper and lower old Quebec City, Francis explained in a very animated fashion the politics, religious, social and cultural events that makes this the spectacular destination that it is today. 10 out of 10 for this tour.

It's a great experience!

This was a great thing to do. So fascinating in a town rich with history. Jocelyne was our fantastic guide. She's learned, charming, energetic, and entertaining. She's also 11th generation Quebecois. The tour gives you a much better understanding of everything from the history of Quebec to learning the difference between French and British architecture. A must for your trip here. It'll make your stay that much more enjoyable.

Entertaining and informative tour of Old Quebec
Oct 2021
Dominique was an informed and entertaining tour guide, and her love of Quebec City -- and Samuel de Champlain -- was completely infectious. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to add some texture to their trip and be shown some beautiful spots in the old city. But bundle up! The wind coming off the St. Lawrence is harsh.

Lovely walk around downtown. Got some history and some nice pictures. Michael was friendly and knowledgeable - adding in some personal connections to history into the tour. Overall it’s a great way to start off your stay in the city.
