- Terri M00Best tour ever! The host gave a lot of good history and information; also provided "Best of" information for the city which was helpful Darren was an outstanding host
- Mbuti00Choose this tourDarren was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable, informative, with a sense of humor. We thought we knew so much about Montreal, yet we learned a lot more with Darren. And the food was yummy!
- georgehE7566RE00Fran really knows MontréalFran is a wonderful guide. She is bilingual and really knows her hometown. Our tour visited a remarkable variety of restaurants.
- L4917CElaurac00Great Walking Tour of Old MontrealWhat a great way to learn about Montreal, its architecture, the food, and its history! Ronnie was a wealth of knowledge and made great recommendations for other places to visit and things to see. I would recommend this tour and this guide to anyone.
- juliewR3601YX00Great way to get familiar with the cityWe had a great time! Great food and very interesting information. Guide found fun, specific spins on culinary standards.
- uniquebunch00A Must To Do in Old MontrealWe came to Montreal for a conference. I booked this tour for 4 of us and we absolutely loved it. David our tour guide was awesome. The walk and food choices were excellent. We learned so much about Old Montreal. The food and pace of the tour was amazing. Our entire group were very impressed. 5 stars all the way.
- NorthStar79067600Fantastic way to get to know the cityThe food was delicious and the tour guide, David, was knowledgeable and friendly. We met a lot of extremely nice people and had a great time! I highly recommend this tour!
- Compass37978200Old MontréalThe food tastings were delicious & our tour guide, Fran, was excellent! We had 5 stops that included a smoked salmon bagel, charcuterie, poutine, a taco, & ice-cream. We also had a glass of wine with the poutin stop. A great experience!
- bobbyp20000Good food and WineThe length of the tour was perfect. We got a good amount of food and we got a bit of history as we went round. Got to sample a few places during the tour that we went back to in the evening which we never would have gone to. Would recommend the tour.
- JillCook22300Delicious and informative!I really enjoyed the variety of stops and the personal touch by our tour guide who was knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly positive about Montreal. We tasted bagels, smoked meat, cheese, fries, Syrah, and finished off our tour with Vietnamese ice cream that tasted like coconut but light and creamy! Our guide also shared a significant amount of Montreal history throughout the tour. It was a pleasure to meet others who enjoyed the tour as much as I did.
- 993renskem00Yummy and funWe really loved this tour! The food was sooo good and David, our tourguide, did a good job explaining everything in an entertaining and fun way!!
- davidkZ9060DZ00Great Tour! Our guide David, was knowledgeable, funny and an all around great guy! Learned a lot about Montreal and had some excellent food! Highly recommend this tour!
- UDave00Fun, fun, fun and socialI prefer Mile End/Le Plateau to downtown Montreal, but for those staying downtown who can not make the Mile End food tour, this is similarly outstanding. This group takes you to smaller places that are not full service restaurants, all of which use house-made, regionally sourced ingredients. The members of the groups love travel, and along with that, great food. Outstanding guides, ours was Sandine (Sandy). Do this!
- 554kathleeny00A fun and yummy afternoonThere was a very nice variety of different culinary experiences in high quality restaurants/venues. We live in Montreal and had never been to these neat places! It was just enough food and drink - not too little, not too much. Our tour guide Ronnie was a lot of fun and was able to add another interesting stop (that we natives had never visited) quickly when faced with a time issue. As my niece says: “he was enthusiastic and informative”. All in all, a great afternoon that our family loved!
- Hazelbere00ExcellentOur tour guides were great. They were easy going but fun & informative. We ate a lot but it wasn’t heavy, foods were delicious. They gave tips for our time in Montreal which we really appreciated. I’d highly recommend this tour….the 11am start was perfect!

I’m a real mile ender and wanted to see how accurately this tour reflects my neighbourhood. It drives me crazy how large groups of tourists clog our streets, standing around eating out of take out containers, pointing their phones at everything, leaving their garbage behind and trudging on to the next corner. But I also get it. I love travelling and eating and local neighbourhoods and all that. Just not with a flock of glazed eyed tourists.
I did think the guide was nice and he’s just trying to make a buck like most of us. Sort of fair. But sucky for those of us who are part of the community of folks who live here and really don’t like the imposition of stagnant blobs of people taking clever photos through bagel holes.
Also, a couple of qualms that stand out: He called Mile End a neighbourhood full of artists etc. Classique. This used to be true. But artists can’t afford to live in places where there are food tours, and the vast majority of us moved further afield years ago. And the gnocchi and tomato sauce place on Fairmount with the huge lineups all the time… The amount of garbage that they produce is unconscionable. They don’t live in the neighbourhood or care about those of us who do. And their gnocchi is a slop of overcooked glueballs. It might feel right when you’ve been walking around for an hour listening to someone prattle on about character and authenticity, but give it a half hour and you’ll be clogged up and irritated. Welcome to the neighbourhood.

This food tour was one of the highlights of our weekend in Montreal! Kim was our tour guide and she was awesome. It was a rainy day but she had emergency ponchos and kept the spirit of the group high and made it that much more fun. The food stops were awesome, and you are walking in between so you never get too full to try the next thing. Kim was also very helpful in suggesting other places for us to go out in the city afterwards. My friends and I all agreed that we were so glad we went on this tour, and we hope to go on more tours in the future. Thank you so much!

My husband and I were visiting just for two nights in Montreal. We stayed in Old Montreal area and felt it was pretty easy to find cool places in that area, so we wanted to explore other parts of town. The Mile End tour was excellent!!! Our tour guide Kim was amazing, she was so nice, informative and considerate of us - it was pouring rain almost the entire time. It was a great way to get to know the personality of Montreal, and have fun!

We had a fantastic afternoon with Francoise/ Fran, who guided us around the Mile End neighborhood. She was amazing! A native Montrealer who can speak 3 languages, she was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun! She shared with us all sorts of history and facts about her city. She asked the group members about our family’s backgrounds and made special effort to include facts about these ethnic groups with the history of Montreal. I am a big fan of Mordecai Richler and she took the time to point out a great mural of him on our walk, We got to see lovely residential neighborhoods, quaint shops and areas I would not have found on my own. The highlights included delicious gravlax (smoked trout) sandwiches, gnocchi from a literal hole in the wall shop (so good!), bagels from St Viateur (got to bypass massive line which felt great!), this was an amazing place to see! Even the New Yorkers on our tour had had to admit these were delicious. And so wonderful to eat something at the source after having it for many years in another part of Canada. The ice cream/ gelato shop (Kem & Coba) at the end was superb. Best and most unusual gelato I have ever had - pear flavour! Bypassing the line up - priceless! Learned so much about the history and culture of Montreal, it’s rich history of immigration, politics, economic struggles during downturns in the 90s and again during Covid. Fran was very thoughtful about making sure we had places to sit, enough hydration, and were comfortable as well as considerate of the neighborhoods we walked through. Highly professional and I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city! A+++

People look for different things when taking tours so I don’t know how tour operators can satisfy everyone. However Fran did seem to accomplish it for our tour of a dozen people who came from all over Canada/US. First off the non food items - tour was well paced with interesting commentary ( but not too much ) throughout, kept on schedule and Fran was well able for the questions that our group raised. The food - quantity was just right , as promised we were full by the end but not “ stuffed” , variety was excellent with 6 different items and quality was first rate. Overall an excellent tour and recommended.

While the food was excellent, our guide Laura was so knowledgeable about the Mile End! She knew about how each restaurant came to be, the cultural influences behind each food, and the history of the neighborhood. It truly lent the tour a facet we didn't expect. We were delighted that the food was as good as her tour. The falafel was unexpectedly the best part, by far. Do give Le Panthère Vert a visit even if you don't get to do this tour.

Ronnie was really great! We loved each item and felt like we learned a bit about each restaurant. We used his recommendation for brunch the next day and were thrilled! Highly recommend this tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

There is no better way to learn about a new city or undiscovered neighborhood than through a food tour. Our guide, Louis, taught us all about Mile End and the history of Montreal while we experienced the local cuisine and walked through beautiful neighborhoods and "green alleys." Excellent overall experience.

The Mile End Montréal Food Tour is a must do on any visit to Montréal. Françoise was a wonderful guide so be sure to book in with her tour. She delightfully entertained us with facts and history on the neighbourhood and Montréal and took us along gorgeous streets and laneways that we would have otherwise missed. The tour offered a great range of tastings, but I would love to see more gluten free and vegan options offered in the future as it was limiting for me with a special diet. For those with regular diets, there was a great range from sweet to savoury, local well known favourites and lesser known hidden treasures. I will certainly be back to try another tour with Local Montreal Food Tours in the future - highly recommended!

Chamille was an excellent tour guide. Informative, friendly, and funny. It was 17 degrees Fahrenheit with light snow but walking through the Mile End was lively and entertaining. There is not much walking and many opportunities to relax. And plenty of good food to eat!
