One of my all time favorite tours!
We had a remarkable experience with our tour guide Thom yesterday. All the other attendees canceled, and so my wife and I got a private tour. Thom was super knowledgable about the history and culture of Montréal, he was full of interesting stories about the different neighborhoods we visited. The bao and coffee were delicious, and he showed us some really cool shops we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. It really felt more like a friend showing us around than a typical tour guide. Highly recommended!

Thumbs up for Beyond the Basilica by S&P and tour guide Gabrielle.
We took the Beyond the Basilica tour by Spade & Palacio in February 2024. Our tour guide was Gabrielle was very friendly, relaxed, engaging and very knowledgeable. She happily answered all the questions our group asked. If you don’t have much time in Montreal, this is a great tour that takes you to many points of interest. If you have time to spare I recommend taking this tour early in your stay to help you decide what you want to further explore in Montreal. The included treats are a welcomed and strategically scheduled plus!!

      So worth the two hours!
Fabulous tour of the artwork and of the neighborhood! Our tour guide Jeff was equally passionate about both which made the experience a joy. Definitely helped us feel like we were making the most of a short visit to the city!

Perfect way to explore the culture of Montreal
Outstanding food tour! We would never have found these interesting and delicious food spots without doing this tour. Danny, a Montreal native, was knowledgeable and fun. Kept us moving, eating and entertained. We sampled everything from fiddleheads and local goat cheese to Italian cannolis and Salvadorian pupusas. Great way to explore a less touristy and culturally rich area of Montreal. Highly recommend!

      Comprehensive Tour with Amazing Guide
One of the best walking tours ever! Includes entry to the Basilica, coffee and a snack which justifies the price in my opinion. Our tour guide was friendly and had so many awesome tips and facts about Montreal to share. I love that this tour hits the high points of Old Montreal, but then quickly gets you going to see Chinatown, the Plateau, and other equally stunning parts of the city. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes walking tours.

      Amazing experience!!
Hello! Last Saturday, I took the gastronomic tour of Marché Jean Talon and Little Italy with Danny from Spade et Palacio. It was a wonderful and incredible experience. A wonderful discovery. We sampled Salvadoran dishes, a milk and cinnamon drink, Italian pastries, cannoli, Quebec cheeses, mushrooms, charcuterie, local meats and coffee. To round off this incredible tour, we visited a chocolate factory and had several tastings... Orange, milk and nut chocolates, to name but a few. The tour guide, Danny, has an encyclopedic knowledge of Montreal and its neighborhoods.... He told us the history of the cultural communities living near the Marché Jean Talon, as well as the story of each product manufacturer we visited. It's a visit I highly recommend! An incredible experience to discover the flavors of Montreal. ADC

Great first day activity for visitors to Montreal to get their bearings
This was a great walking tour and fun way to see several different parts of the city in a short time frame while also learning some of the history and cultural quirks of Montreal. Danny, our guide, was funny and charming, and very informative. He helped give a good picture both of the historical Montreal, as well as the present Montreal, and how different groups of people contribute to the vibrant cultural scene today. This tour is also a great way to see the basilica as we skipped right to the front of the line.

      Enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide
We went on the mural walking tour around Little Portugal with Pascoal. He is a very mindful guide; it was a cold day and he had extra gloves for one of the guests to borrow. He also took us to a cafe for hot drinks, and at the end showed us where to get the best custard tarts. On the mural tour he provided information about the artists and the annual mural festival. He clearly loves Montreal, and his enthusiasm for the art and the neighborhood radiated to our group. Btw on Google Maps it looks like there are two listings for Spade & Palacio Tours and we were confused about which location to meet the group.

      Exceeded our expectations!
Pascal was an absolute gem, we enjoyed the Food Tour on a girls trip. He put so much attention into the little details, getting to know us and ensure we were having a great time. We had a friend on crutches and he checked on her often, making sure the pace was good.. The pupusa was our favorite but everything was amazing. Wonderful variety.

We had a great experience with Spade & Palacio. I always begin my time in a new city with a bike tour to learn about the spirit and culture from the locals. Danny showed us his Montreal and it was "chefs kiss"! Highly recommend for couples as well as for traveling with teens. Danny's humor is spot on and is guaranteed to keep teens and adults entertained.

My 15 year old son and I really enjoyed the tour and I recommend it at the start of your Montreal stay to get a feel for the city and its history. Danny (owner) and Emily (host) went out of their way to be helpful. Bikes were perfect. I truly loved the lunch and beer. To picky eaters and/or those with kids: Do request a simple sandwich and chips or bring a meal replacement bar. Two teenagers on our trip (mine included) didn't care for the lunch. My mistake for not requesting as I'm sure Danny would have provided an alternative. Thank you again and take care!

Heya! So happy the fam enjoyed the bike tour. Of all the routes we planned this is in my opinion the best to see so much of the city. The lunch is so delicious and picky teenagers will be picky teenagers. We won’t accommodate picky teenagers who lack food experience but will definitely for food restrictions or allergies. So happy you enjoyed your time with us. Merci!!

We booked somewhat last minute at the end of our trip and wish we had done it sooner! Our guide, Jeff, was a Montreal native and his love, knowledge and enthusiasm for the city was so infectious, we wished we had another week to explore! His background as a history teacher helped to deepen my appreciation for Montreal's unique culture and added vital context for understanding it's many qualities.

Additionally, the fleet of pink bikes were impeccably well maintained ensuring that we had smooth sailing as we traversed the city. Jeff and his trailing flock of flaminglets (?!) were frequently greeted with friendly shouts of "hey, it's the pink bike crew!" by locals as we cruised through the neighborhood. Spade & Palacio must be doing something right to have garnered such wide spread good will and respect!

My husband and I have done bike tours in many cities over the years and this was one of, if not, THE best.

My sisters and I took did the bike tour with Jeff in honor of my sister's birthday. What a wonderful way to see the city! Jeff was incredibly knowledgeable about the city. He brought a lot of historical information, but was also chalkful of personal anecdotes that really brought stories of the city and community to life. I hadn't biked in a long time so I was a little bit nervous, but there were plenty of stops, and aside from 2 hills, the rest was not too physically demanding. It was absolutely worth setting aside 4 hour of my stay for this tour, and I especially recommend Jeff as a tour guide.

Memorable, fun, and active tour of Montreal. Our guide was Jeff, a proud native who enjoyed sharing all that his great city has to offer. He showed us things that even some locals don’t know about. We liked getting that inside picture of the city. We stopped to see numerous murals adorning the walls of the city, and rode through many neighborhoods and parks and down “green alleys” that its residents pride themselves on.

Lunch was provided and was delicious and healthy. At the tour’s end, everyone received a “cheat sheet” with staff recommendations on places to eat, drink, shop, etc. that was greatly appreciated.

If you want a fun, active, and different way to see Montreal, look no further. This outfitter will not disappoint!

Enjoyed the Beyond the Bike Lanes tour to explore some of Montréal's hidden gems, right at street level. The café where the tour starts has excellent coffee and food. The tour staff were friendly and helpful getting everyone fitted on bikes. The fun pink bikes worked well, for the easy riding. The terrain was predominantly flat, tour was well-paced with lots of stops, so accessible for most fitness levels. Our guide Chris was able to bring in his urban planning background to share lots of information, history and his love of the city. Picnic lunch was delicious, and we enjoyed getting to know the others in our tour with seven participants. The tour gave us ideas for places we revisited throughout our trip, attractions to take in and restaurants to try.

Really fun and unique tour. Amelie was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city. The cycling speed was good for everyone in the group (8 people), the route is fairly flat and there is only one tough hill on the entire trip. The bicycles were well maintained, easy to ride, and very beautiful. Lunch is included in the trip, very delicious (gluten-free and vegetarian).

We spent a week in Montreal and agreed that this was our favorite part of the trip. After this ride at the beginning of the week, we felt like we really got a sense of not only the history of the city, but the personality and independent attitude of Montreal. So much fun stuff to see and think about.
The stairways, cat footprints in the bricks, garden alleys, murals and food recommendations (we eventually DID get bagels at the Fairmount!). So much fun stuff to see and learn. All with a sense of humor and on a very comfortable custom adjusted bike. The bike ride through the neighborhoods came up in conversation every day afterward.
    Can’t recommend this tour enough.
(I wish I could remember our guide’s name - he was terrific! - but he’s in the attached photo)

Our guide, JEFF was very informative, approachable and gave the impression that he truly enjoyed guiding us. The route was very manageable and gave us a good overview of the city and a few of it's neighborhoods that (most?) tourists probably miss. Riding thru and learning about The Green Alley, The Plateau, Mural Art & Portuguese influences were our favorites and JEFF delivered his insights with passion. The meeting location also worked well and Danny (S&P/owner/mgr.) was very organized and engaging.

Although we enjoyed the ice cream stop.....could have used the "stop time" more usefully perhaps(?).....Would highly recommend S&P to other travelers.

What a great start to our Montreal visit! Danny is a spectacular guide with deep knowledge of the city. More than that, his interest in Montreal wall art, food, city life, culture and current social movements is extensive and freely shared. We got a great overview of Montreal in our first afternoon, allowing us to focus on more specific bike rides and points of interest the rest of our trip.

Danny also went far above and beyond his 3 hour tour obligations. We had 2 flat tires and a related bike problem on our own bikes (not bikes provided by Spade and Palacios for the tour), and he solved our problems with his knowledge of local bike shops. It also meant he stayed with us for 4-1/2 hours! Can't say enough about this tour as an introduction to Montreal and Danny as a leader!!
