        Sadly we missed it!
Our first day in Montreal and a Sunday, so we had issues finding the right buses/train to get to our pickup point. We started out a full hour ahead, but still couldn't made the time. We still went ahead and got to the location, just so we could get better educated at getting around on the local transportation.

        An essential experience in Montréal
Stay on the bus for the entire trip as locating each bus stop is challenging due to a lack of signage. Then on your second trip around disembark at places of interest and have fun. The only off putting part is the request for a tip at the end. We didn’t have any cash on us and felt embarrassed. I’d rather they just charge $5 extra per person.

        Good but bus troubles.
Great driver and tour guide. Very informative and a good overall view of the city. Unfortunately we had bus troubles. It would stall out several times. We even had to have a bus mechanic and have a look.

        Great tour
The tour guide was great and enthusiastic. Lots of puns and facts about Montreal. The driver was safe and helpful. They showed many parts of the city and didn’t only show the touristy parts of the city.

        Tour guide difficult to understand
Not many of the stops sparked our interest. Always enjoy doing grey line hop on hop off tours. Great way to see the city. Enjoyed the farmers market!

Very poor service. Bus didn’t appear as scheduled.
Bus was waiting to depart and intentionally took off a minute earlier than scheduled when driver saw us running towards it. We waited more than an hour for the next bus which was supposed to come by every 30 minites. Grayline does NOT keep to schedule. Beware.

Not truly hop on hop off
We bought tickets through Viator and it wasn’t made clear that we had to go to the office of the tour company to exchange our online tickets for wristbands, so that took up some additional time. Once we were on the bus it was okay but it’s not really hop on hop off like other cities we had taken similar tours in like London and Paris. There was no warning before stops, stops were super short, less than a few minutes so if you’re sitting at the top and you want to come down to get out, they don’t give you time. They don’t even give you 10 minutes to get off the bus at a look-out to take a photo. So we just ended up staying on the bus for the full tour. The ticket is good for two consecutive days but after one complete tour on this bus, it’s more efficient to Uber to wherever you want to return to. Not too many interesting facts of history from the guide and the jokes weren’t funny.

A very quick overview of Montreal but with a bit too much unwanted commentary
We took the tour on 04.26.24. In many ways, it was really good. However, a few comments by the guide, overshadowed the rest and I'd like you to know about them. Obviously, the guide has superior knowledge of Montreal and a bubbly personality. But here are my problems: He said at a market stop that there were washrooms, men and women "and no in-between.". With a wrinkled-up face. The guide should be told that non-binary people are well aware of places that don't accommodate them without his highlighting it with his insensitive remarks. He also made a number of insensitive / gratuitous comments about gay people. Example: describing a part of Montreal where many gay people live, he said "do we have to refer to it as the gay village?. Then went on to discuss gay-inhabited areas in 2 other cities, one of them the Castro district of San Francisco. "We don't call it the gay Castro district?. He then made some (trying to be funny references to Fidel Castro being gay? When told by a participant that Fidel's brother is gay he said "Shame on him!!". Why all this unnecessary preoccupation with gayness by the guide?? It's not witty or welcome. Finally, he said " no, I won't say it. That would be racist.....". Then went on anyway to describe a quick snapshot as a Japanese snapshot. Saying "no, I won't say it, that would be racist" doesn't cancel that it is, in fact, a stereotyping and inconsiderate thing to say. Saying you have many Japanese friends and they agree that this (stereotype of Japanese people) is true doesn't make it ok. Why do it????? The guide has tons of personality to wow visitors without these kinds of remarks. I'm not writing this to convince you not to take the tour. I'm actually hoping that Gray Line sees this and helps the guide to do better. I tried emailing them first and my email was rejected. I actually hope an otherwise very good guide can be made a better one for all visitors to Montreal (not just straight white cisgender ones).

        Very Nice Indeed!
Yes, you’re on a tour bus. I say that because it was not too abundantly clear if that were the case when I initially read the description; and there are a number of walking tours. It rained the day that my husband and I did the tour, so it was a perfect day to be on a bus as opposed to being stuck inside somewhere. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and easygoing. You didn’t feel overwhelmed nor bored with the information that she shared. The bus driver was personable and delightful. It was just the right amount of time designated, appropriately 3 1/2 hours, or so…not too long nor too short. We covered a lot of ground in that amount of time and got to see a lot of Montreal. There were opportunities to get off the bus and take pictures at certain points of interest. We even stopped at a market to buy fresh fruit, baked goods, coffee, etc. I would recommend this tour if you want a good overview of the city without having to commit your entire day.

Canada is fantastic, exceptional and unique. I have trekked the landscapes and they are marvellous and look likes a nordic country. I have visited Montreal and this city is incredible with his monument. The package offered by TripAdvisor is awesome. It's not too expensive and perfect for a family of four. I have travelled to Canada before, but this is like discovering a new country. I highly recommend it.

It’s a good trip to get the layout of the city but after the first couple of stops they really run out of interesting things to say and you spend a long time on the coach just heading for the Olympic park and some run down areas Our guide was ok but the driver continually interrupted and took over His joke about Murder rates in the city was in poor taste He said we had on last week so your safe to walk around for the next three weeks . You don’t want murder jokes on a tour as I say you do get a good idea of the city bu5 at only one stop do you get guide commentary the rest is mostly driver rambling telling not funny jokes One final point I know this is a French speaking city and the arrival of the British was not welcome but if your a guide giving historical information you need to understand where people come from French came from France English came from England Scots came from Scotland You don’t say British and Scottish settled here . British is the combination of the home nations someone who is Scottish is also British It’s correct to say the English and Scottish settled here

Wouldn't recommend this trip, we paid $135 Canadian dollars each for this trip, appx £77 british pounds.
Looked good, a luxury coach, a guided tour of old Quebec, the falls and some free time.
The woman working at the desk in the Gray line bus station was less than helpful and just not friendly. The bus was very old, very loud engine, poor suspension and in fact broke down on the way back.
The Quebec guide said that she wasn't being paid to do the guiding so she made it explicit that the tips would be funding her services!!! I thought but what have we already paid quite a lot of money for???Surely the guide should be paid?? She was nice enough but certainly no expert guide. We had a rather cursory tour of old Quebec, went to the falls which were impressive and then dropped off in Quebec for around 3 hours. being supplied with city maps would have been helpful at this point. Again on the way back, after the breakdown, we were still being pursued for tips by the driver. Fair enough it wasn't his fault that the bus broke down but...the trip felt cheap. If we'd paid anything up to 50 pounds, maybe ok but half as much again and it felt very poor value for money.
To improve : get a decent guide and pay them properly. Extend the quebec walking tour. Get a much more comfortable bus and please don't aggressively pursue the customers for tips when they have already paid a lot of money for the trip!!

We were blessed with an operation that left on time and returned the same way. Our coach driver Norman was outstanding, not only driving the bus expertly around some very small roads, he also acted as a a guide when the official guide wasn’t onboard. He was clearly knowledgeable about the history and geography and without being intrusive regularly kept a patter up as we drove the 3 hours or so to Quebec City. Our guide Pierre was clearly very knowledgeable and provided a great explanation of what we were seeing and how to see more on our own time. The dual language of French and English was a nice touch.
The trip allowed us 3 hours of free time to wander around the city and see the parts that interested us the most after our orientation tour, which turned out to be just about perfect as an amount of time to eat, explore and return.

On the journey back we were dropped off near a fountain in the city, in my rush to get off the bus I left a phone in the seat pocket. After some panic and messages we were able to track the phone. The next day we went for an early morning run we were relived to hear that the message we left on the answer phone had been listened to before we arrived @7.30 am. The driver returned the phone untouched and with the credit card and drivers license still in the case. Top marks.

This was a great option for us, since we’d already had a wedding and lots of traveling. Easy meetup stop the tourist bus station, roomy and comfortable coach bus, and great tour. Started with a great introduction by our bus driver, who was kind enough to load our umbrella stroller under the bus, heading out from Montreal towards Quebec City. Bathroom stop halfway, grabbed coffee and food so we didn’t go hungry during the tour, and then a nap on the last half to Quebec City.

First stop, old Quebec City tour, around 40-45 min walking around the cobblestones streets and getting history. Bumpy for strollers but with the hills, it was definitely needed for our little one. Gave us recommendations to see after we came back for our afternoon free time. Peter/Pierre was out tour guide, spoke in French and English, and was lovely!

Second stop was Montmorency Falls, which was beautiful. 20 minute stop, nothing but a quick view and appreciation, and that was fine for us. If you want to climb the stairs or take a ride to the top, you’ll have to come back. This tour doesn’t have the time with the drive to Quebec City and the packed tours. It was plenty of time for us.

Last was free time in Quebec City, 3 hours. There is a ferry you can take around Quebec City and Levi, lasts about an hour, but we decided to stretch our legs and have a delicious lunch at Soprista outdoors. Complete with photos, lots of walking around, some shopping and then gelato before getting back on the bus.

Headed back to Montreal, and our bus driver was nice enough to wait for 3 people (2 separate parties) who were 10 minutes late to getting back (please don’t do that to everyone… be on time…). Same stop halfway back for a restroom and snack stop. Dropped people along at specific areas near hotels, we only had a 10 minute walk back to our hotel (took us 30 to get there in the am so we were very grateful).

Tipped $5 CAD to the guide as suggested, $7 CAD to the driver as requested. They explain the tips on the ride a couple of times, which was extremely helpful to know what was appropriate. They all were lovely and I highly recommend-so happy we did this instead of driving it ourselves! Nice tour day and break day in the shuffle of planning, driving, etc.

The tour in Quebec City was informative, and we had several hours to explore on our own beyond the tour. But there were several drawbacks that tainted the experience. The coach was fairly comfortable (not luxurious), and our driver/guide was bi-lingual, but he struggled with his English. He attempted to be a comedian, but his jokes were a bit condescending and fell flat. The information he attempted to provide about the agenda of the trip was confusing, and we were especially appalled that he was compelled to give us a lesson in “tipping” the servers. Seriously?!? Thank goodness the actual tour in Quebec City was done by one of the locals. The final drawback was that we toured the old city, then got back on the bus to see Montmorency Falls, then returned to the city to explore on our own. There wasn’t enough time to experience the falls up close, to “feel the spray” as explained in the description of the tour. The flow of the experience could have been better managed if we had gone directly to the Falls, then into the city for the tour and free time. All that being said, it was an ok intro to the area, and we saw the highlights as we had hoped. If you can manage your expectations then this excursion was fine.

If you are in Montreal and can get to Quebec city, YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD- I'm just not sure I would recommend going on this bus trip. My husband & I didn't want to drive to Quebec city after a busy work/social week in Montreal (zzzzzzz) . The day started out frustrating as we waited 30 minutes for 1 family to join us (have respect for others- be on time. why did we wait?) . Travel to Quebec city was seamless and we picked up our guide for his 2 1/2 hours of sharing his love of the city. The day is not logically sequenced as we got off the bus for an hour of slow walking/stopping/listening but you only walk about 400 m total. The information was great but very slow as it alternates between french and english and movement is minimal. We were then back on the bus where we drove to montmorency falls. If you have been to any other waterfall in Canada, I would skip this. Incredibly underwhelming and time consuming portion of the trip. You are then back on the bus to drive past plains of Abraham but at no point did we get off the bus to look around or enjoy the plains. Then we were back to the original spot to get less than 2 hours of free time. This is really just enough time to eat lunch (it is now 2:30 pm and we got on the bus at 7:45) and do a few minutes in the shops. We quickly hiked back up to the plains of Abraham to actually explore it and felt very rushed to do any dining or shopping/sightseeing. Ultimately, if you are mobile and enjoy reading the history on your own, you should just get to Quebec City for the day and avoid an organized tour like this as it was more bus/time killing than adventure. If you are older or travelling with someone who is not mobile it is a good option?

This tour was great for my husband and I. The bus driver was very funny and gave us some info and jokes along the way. Each stop seemed like just enough time at each place. We got about 2.5 hours of free time in Quebec City, which seemed like just enough time to get a meal and explore the shops since it's a very small city (the historic/touristy part at least). We also got the see the waterfall with just enough time to appreciate it and take some photos. A local your guide was picked up in Quebec city and gave us some history of the entire city while driving around the slightly "newer" parts of the city. Overall, it was a great tour and day. Highly recommend this tour!

This was a really nice day trip. Our bus driver was funny and knowledgeable and made great time to and from Quebec City, which is absolutely beautiful. There we met up with tour guide Roger Clavel who is highly experienced and knowledgeable. He showed us around the lower city for about 45 minutes, then we rode out to Montmorency Falls, then back to QC for about 3 hours of free time before we were back on the bus at about 5pm. Such a beautiful place.

The experience was great, driving was seamless and the fact that you can leave all your things in the bus when exploring the city is very convenient. I would have liked more history/architecture information, but having a live guide instead of a recording is great. The time given to explore Quebec is about 3 hrs, which is exactly what you want to explore both upper and lower city sites and get a bite! Falls were magnificent and you get to approach them from two paths, while also having exactly enough time for the falls and nature around it.

I had a great experience. Some highlights: the bus driver/guide was so funny and kind (this really made the tour feel very comfortable for me), the historical tour in Quebec City was really educational and informative and, while the focus was mostly Old Quebec, the tour included a little drive around the city to see certain viewpoints and monuments which I really appreciated. There was a decent amount of free time to explore the areas that were briefly visited during the tour!

This trip is definitely worth the price. Highly recommend it! Our bus driver, Andre, was very informative and extremely personable and entertaining. He pointed out many interesting sites during our trip to Quebec City, making the long ride feel shorter. The Quebec City tour guide, Katya was very knowledgeable and extremely interesting. She personalized the tour to tie an interesting fact from Quebec City to the home states/countries of the tour attendees, which was a great touch. Plenty of time to enjoy the Montmorency Falls and the shops and restaurants in Old Town Quebec. The hotel shuttle pick up and bus drop off to our hotel was greatly appreciated.
