- rcxp70 contributionsNice short excursionThis was a last minute booking and it was just as expected. Our guide was full of all kinds of information, very detail and entertaining. It was the perfect amount of time and a good ride to show you around and familiarize yourself with the area. Definitely recommend.Written November 8, 2024
- DayTrip7794320 contributionsGreat TourThe farmhouse tour was really great and memorable since I have read all the books and seen the movies. So interesting to learn more about the author. The bus ride had beautiful scenery too. The grounds were gorgeous.Written October 30, 2024
- GypsyGranny440 contributionsOkThe home Green Gables was the highlight. The rest of the tour was pretty much a stop at A local business with extremely high prices. Not enough local craftsWritten October 27, 2024
- magnet17100 contributionsNice visitA nice inexpensive tour of the Charlottetown area. We had a great driver (Dean) with a sense of humour. Yappy people on the top deck made it hard to hear the commentary. But I would recommend this, especially for a ship excursion.Written October 11, 2024
- SJE990 contributionsLovely Drive and VisitWe took this tour of Prince Edward Island and Anne of Green Gables and loved our time. The your was a nice way to see parts of the island and gave us an overview of life there. The Green Gables area has been well set up, and the home is beautifully preserved. It was lovely to walk through and see the way the home was. The visitor centre was spacious and airy with good displays about the author and her stories. We enjoyed our first Beaver Tail with Raspberry Cordial at the on site Cafe. This is a great way to get an overview and see highlights of Prince Edward Island when on a cruise.Written October 9, 2024

- roseannw440 contributionsThe Best of PEI in 1 Hour! This was a perfect tour! Our tour guide in the double deck was informative, interactive and funny! We saw so many hi-lights and then had enough time to go back to the sites we wanted to see up close before getting back on the cruise ship.Written September 26, 2024
- Climber097554671180 contributionsBest tour this week thanks to a terrific tour guideJoan was very warm and professional in her presentation. The time at locations was sufficient and she shared appropriate information about a wide variety of subjects. The island is beautiful and we are glad we were able to see its beauty.Written September 25, 2024
- rebeccasJ470OQ0 contributionsBeautiful placeGood tour, but we definitely needed more than 50 minutes at the green gables site, and could’ve avoided the stop at the gift shop/tasting stop.Written September 25, 2024
- Jinxiethecat0 contributionsWonderful! We loved this tour! The guide, Maura Lee, was very personable and had a great sense of humor. She entertained us the entire trip. This island is beautiful and looks quite different from the other provinces we have visited so far. We greatly enjoyed seeing it and learning about it. We learned much about lobster fishing, which we knew nothing about, and it was super interesting. We can highly recommend this trip as a great way to spend 4 hours and experience Prince Edward Island!Written September 25, 2024

Our tour guide did an excellent job telling us about the island as we traveled on the bus and we made some good stops with views. We really enjoyed the trip. Well worth booking.Written September 10, 2024

We booked this as an independent shore excursion for a private group of 4 people. Paul was our driver and he was on time waiting as communicated. Van was clean and Paul was passionate about PEI and what we would see. He planned the itinerary to avoid tour buses and gave us plenty of time to see the sights. Very good experience and we would highly recommend Paul for any tour on PEI.

PEI is a delightful island. Charlottetown is an historic city. We wanted to see as much as possible so we booked this tour. It was a great pick up spot. Overall we loved the tour. We were able to see the beauty and learn the history.
There were a few things that could make it even better. Before we even left, our tour guide Joan seemed a bit frenetic with the numbers. I know she's responsible for all people on board the bus but it seems counting the empty seats would have been easier. This later caused a huge problem at the Green Gables stop. We were significantly delayed there due to numbers. Everyone was on board but she insisted they weren't. We kept suggesting she just count the empty seats.
Another thing we would have loved would be to leave an hour or so earlier so we could have more time at each stop. We were very rushed at every stop. I could have spent 2 hours at Green Gables but we had 45 minutes and were rushed.
Overall it was great but it felt a little stressful. The tour gave me a taste for PEI and I want to return someday and spend a lot more time.

We went on a tour with Paul, the owner of Tours-R-Us. Paul has been a resident most of his life and is very knowledgeable about the area. He tailored our tour to the stops that we wanted. It was a private and very enjoyable experience!
He recommended Water Prince Corner Shop restaurant for lobster rolls and they did not disappoint! Very good lobster rolls and great service!
I recommend Paul and Tours-R-Us if you port in Charlottetown! He had us back in plenty of time to have dinner and then get back to our ship!
Give him a call!

I’m reviewing my experience booking with ToursByLocals in Charlottetown, PEI.
I booked a tour online and paid deposit. I then received an email saying tour was not confirmed until I received an email from the guide. The next day I received a “confirmation” email from the tour guide & then cancelled the ship’s tour I had also booked before considering a private tour. A few days later I received another email saying there had been an error (no other explanation) and my tour was cancelled. By this time the ship’s tour was sold out leaving us no other option. I can’t believe this commitment was not honored. I have used ToursByLocals other times with no issues. I’n very disappointed in the poor customer service of this tour company. To future PEI tourist - be wary of ToursByLocals. They don’t honor their own commitments.

Well narrated on the bus and the guide was knowledgeable about the island.
This was a shore excursion tour for us and we allowed plenty of time to get to the meeting point at Founders' Hall. At the desk in the building we were re-directed to go back to the pier , so we hot footed it back, only to be told, no we needed to be at Founder's Hall, where we originally were. Then pat way through the tour, the guide thought we were missing 2 people when we re-boarded the bus so we waited about 15 minutes only to find out they had mis-counted the group at the beginning.
Having seen many old houses, the Green Gables house wasn't too interesting. We would have preferred to skip the jam factory where there were a total of 3 bus loads packed in there. If we were to do it again, I would opt for a scenic drive. Maybe we just picked the wrong trip.

I would recommend a tour by this company. They are licensed and knowledgeable about PEI, Charlottetown, area, etc. Blaine was our driver. He was great! All transactions were smooth on this private tour of 6 with adult family members. I didn't know where exactly to meet him after getting off the ship. However, I called the number and within seconds he found us. I definitely recommend.

Though the weather was dismal, rainy and cold, we embarked on the Anne of Green Gables tour with Maura Lee of Prince Edward Tours, and had a very nice experience.
She had lots of interesting facts and tales to tell, and we got a very good impression of the island. We went to the Green Gables house, as well as a stop at a preserve shop, and even got a taste of the wicked wind at the beach!

I see that the description says it's not wheelchair accessible. However, would it be okay for someone who uses a walker for both short and longer distances? Some steps are okay, but uneven surfaces would be harder.
Written July 28, 2019
One of the reasons it is not wheelchair accessible is due to uneven surfaces. The same would hold true for a walker.
