- 1In our small corner of the world where the right trees and climate combine to make 100% Pure Maple Syrup, tours into the sugar bush are an annual winter tradition. However, we believe something this good and this rare deserves to be celebrated all year. Join our expert sugar-maker on a one-hour journey beneath the iconic maple leaves of the “off-season” sugar bush and discover the modern world of maple syrup production, the traditions that have survived the centuries, and the innovations that make today’s farms thrive. Witness how, in our three generations of sugar-making, we still craft our syrup 100% pure and simple, with no additives or sacrifice to the sap’s natural nutrients. Who are these expert sugar-makers? Our sugar-makers are the chief masters of all things maple on the Farm. Often very busy giving our tree herd its deserved TLC, they’re setting aside time to take you deep into the character and complexity of 100% Pure Maple Syrup. There’s never been a better chance to ask your toughest maple questions, like: Why is maple syrup production often compared to wine? What’s the science that causes maple syrup to get darker and stronger later in the season? How does the soil make Ontario maple syrup unique? Your Discover Maple Tour begins in our hub of maple syrup production, the Sugar Shack, and ventures by wagon to the heart of the maple factory, the forest. Here the masters unveil the world of maple syrup from sap collection to the health and wellness of the trees, as you venture along our groomed walking trail. Linger afterward in the shade of the mighty maples for a legendary sugar bush treat, “stick-to-your-lips” delicious, Taffy-on-Snow -- another winter tradition we can’t let you miss.

- janineb7370 contributionsLoved it - Highly RecommendWe were three adults and had a fabulous time! Loved being out in the woods and learning about the entire process, loved that they included the indigenous history, we had maple taffy on snow, and got to sample the different types of syrup they made to help us decide what to purchase. Our tour guide, Luke, is a BORN entertainer, and was fabulous for the kids, yet informative enough for the adults.Written April 4, 2024

- WHolmes180 contributionsAmazing experience, amazing staffThis year was our 4th sugar bush tour at White Meadows. We look forward to it every year and every year we have a great time. This year the tour was even better than before with our amazing tour guide, Ernie. We learned so many new facts about the sugar bush and were thoroughly entertained with his storytelling. We love eating the taffy on snow and cutting our own log coin. The tour is the perfect length of time and we always explore through the maze before heading back to the sugar shack. All of the staff make the experience so much fun. Now we can’t wait to enjoy all the maple treats and syrups we bought!Written March 15, 2024

We especially enjoyed the tale of the Anishinaabe peoples and the mischievous trickster ‘Nenaboozhoo’. The taffy on snow was so delicious, would definitely recommend! A great place for kids to be out in nature but can be a bit of a long walk for the really little ones. A great experience and definitely a must-do if you’re going to be in the area. The maple syrup and candies are the best I’ve ever had!Written March 10, 2024

- FarAway209277479770 contributionsGreat Farm Visit for a Family of Foodies!Great visit to learn about the production of maple syrup, the farm's heritage and the care and preservation of the trees. Thanks to Luke for the tour, history and discussion about what makes the best syrup. Beautiful farm and nearby landscape. And a surprising selection of maple-infused and maple-based products in the gift shop from cookies, to cranberry jelly, to cheese. And don't forget about the popcorn! Thank you to Sue for waiting for us to pick a good variety of take-home products. Easy to access sugar shack, washrooms, outdoor seating and gift shop just by crossing the nearby gravel parking lot. You may not become a syrup snob, but you will never see or taste maple syrup the same way again!Written October 31, 2023

We had a wonderful time on our tour. Not only was our tour guide (Luc) The absolute BEST, but so was the group we toured with.
He shared fun stories, facts about maple farming, and answered all of our questions, in addition to cracking some fun jokes. As travel agents, my husband and I have traveled a lot fo places, and have taken many tours - this was by far one of our favorite!!
We added the charcuterie board to our tour and enjoyed time tasting incredible foods made local in Ontario. If you are on the fence about adding the tasting - I would definitely do it! Just be sure to request someone to tell you what everything since you (or at least no one at our table) won't receive a sheet telling you what each item is.

On a massive road trip this is easily one of the highlights for both me and my little 1s. They loved the tractor ride, the walk through the maple Forrest, making their own lolly with pure maple syrup that had been cooked on fire and then laid out on ice. Pretty surreal, magical, loved it!

Took our family of four from Eastern NC to Niagara Falls and wanted to see something away from the typical tourist traps (Ripley's, etc). This little side quest was certainly a highlight of the trip. Additionally, the shade of the forest was a nice break from the July heat and humidity. Luc was energetic and kept everyone engaged as we learned about the syrup harvesting processes. My picky-eating kids loved the taffy-on-snow tasting and charcuterie board at the end of the tour. I definitely recommend adding this to your itinerary.

Amazing tour! Our guide Luc was very energetic, informative, funny, interactive. I had no idea how much goes into syrup production. The favorite part was making taffy in the snow. It was out of this world delicious! Also the charcuterie board was so yummy! I would 100% recommend this tour!

We attended the Discover Maple Bush tour yesterday. Luc was a fantastic guide. Very funny and really informative
He was calm and polite even in the face of some very challenging guests.
We have done this tour a few times (as we are local) and always brings guests here when we have visitors from overseas. Highly recommend!

Our family really loved this tour! The tour explains how syrup is made and takes you out into the maple forest to see how every step is done. As a person who loves to cook and loves food I found it fascinating and our guide, Lauren, was the most knowledgeable and thorough guide I thinm I’ve ever had for any tour. Very animated and fun as well. It was super special to make our own taffy on the snow at the end.

How wonderful! We took the tour and learned so much about the Maple Syrup process - from the growing of the trees to the final product! Our 'tour guide' had a great personality and was very informative.
After the tour we tried the sweet, and the savory, charcuterie boards. Both were very good. This was a great experience, and we gained a lot of knowledge. Very enjoyable!

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour! A cute trip into the forest via a tractor so the views were glorious. The lady was very informative about the maple trees and how they produce the final product. She was also humorous which adds to the whole experience. We made maple taffy in the forest and tasted 4 types of maple syrups at the end. I highly recommend this tour! We also added a tasting board (savoury, sweet) or both) at the end as it would be a shame not to enhance the experience.

Our tour guide, Richard, clearly loves his farm and it makes him a great tour guide. The pace of the tour is well thought out and keeps you moving along. The maple syrup process is quite fasinatng. My whole family all found something unique to wonder at during our tour. I highly recommend adding the Deluxe Board to your tour to enjoy afterwards. It was a great way to taste all the products they sell in their store.

I’m so glad we booked this tour. We had some concerns with the rain, but the tour kept us mostly out of the rain. It was an enjoyable and tasty way to learn about maple syrup, and it even kept our 12 year-old engaged.
