Overall the class was great. I just wanted to give a shoutout to my instructor, Chloe. She was very focused on the class, constantly checking over her shoulder to make sure everyone was keeping pace. I even saw her carry one students skis when she couldn't make it up a steeper part of the run and help that student transition back-and-forth from skins to skis each time we made a transition.

Our private group had a fantastic experience over our 2 day AST1 refresher and Companion rescue course. MSAA made the booking process easy and our requested custom itinerary was no problem at all. Our instructor April made the course even better. Highly recommended for your next adventure or education course.

April was an amazing teacher. She was very patient and took the time to communicate what we needed in the backcountry. She empowered each person in the group to complete the day successfully. I would highly recommend the woman clinic to any of my friends.

I completed the AST 1 course with April this weekend and loved it. Learned loads in a supportive and relaxed but rigorous environment, and can't wait to get out and practice. April was really articulate, knowledgeable and fun, and the experience with MSA was smooth from start to finish. When I'm ready for AST 2 I'll come knocking again!

AST 1 day 2 with Nolan Hass

Just finished up my AST day 2 training with Nolan Hass as our guide, Nolan was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable and practical in showing us the proper methods and techniques in burial scenarios, snowpack assessment and testing, tips and tricks for for skinning efficiently and route selection. Clearing the path for our kickturns and everything else to get us on the right path to backcountry safety! My friend Daniel and I had booked our AST 1 a month prior in Squamish, but had vehicle troubles prior to our field day up on red heather ( make sure your chains fit, or take the shuttle ) . So MSA had rescheduled us to do our day 2 in Whistler and I’m so glad that we did because we had the most beautiful day, conditions were ideal for us to get the best training possible and with a private lesson with out amazing guide Nolan Hass!

Thank you so much Nolan and MSA for the amazing experience and proper training! Look forward to doing AST 2 with you!

We had a terrific experience learning how to safely navigate the backcountry. Nolas Hass was our knowledgable instructor, and he did a great job taking us through a hands on practice of search and rescue, as well as assessing the snow pack. Nolan went above and beyond to give us tips on skin technique, how to break trail, and where to safely climb and stop. He also took the time to debrief and make sure we'd absorbed the information. We even got to ski a few laps! Far exceeded my expectations.

Just finished my AST1, was a great experience! In class with Corey and Rob was super informative with a lot of resources that I will take with me throughout my travels. And I can’t say enough about Krill our practical instructor, he killed it! It was clear that his stoke for the mountains and safe backcountry travel was infectious. Great program, highly recommend. Took the Avalanche training in Squamish and got so much value out of it! MSAA was a great choice for me, our instructor Cloe was awesome. Really enjoyed learning from her experiences and stories regarding avalanches. We had a smaller class which was really nice, everyone knew each other by the end and had so much fun in the backcountry.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team at Mountain Skills Academy for providing my group and I with an incredible two days, full of information and fun on our AST1 course. It was an incredible experience and everyone had an amazing time, we all learnt tons of essential skills and intend to keep expanding our knowledge base!
The entire team provided amazing customer service including and not limited to quick responses to all emails, flexible dates and and were more than happy to cater for some unexpected changes along the way.
A massive thank you to our guide/instructor James, he was by far the best guide/instructor I have been able to learn from, very knowledgeable and easy to understand. He took extra time out of his day to teach us some key touring tips and tricks such as how to perform kick turns correctly which was awesome.
We all will definitely be recommending Mountain Skills Academy to our friends and everyone looking to expanding their mountain knowledge
