What to expect
  • Choose between a morning and afternoon tour, then make your way to a central location in Whistler Village. You may also meet the driver at the Fairmont Chateau or the Four Seasons, both close to the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Leave the village behind on the 10-minute drive to Cougar Mountain, where you’ll have access to pristine backcountry trails that wind deep into the forest. Your professional guide will lead the way, and can offer tips on snowmobile handling for less-experienced drivers. Ride past the trunks of towering evergreen trees with limbs weighed down by snow, and watch for the wildlife that thrives in the winter forests of British Columbia. Pause to refuel with snacks and drinks before you ride back to the trailhead for the return trip to Whistler. Children 12 and under may join the tour free of charge when accompanied by an adult driver.

We had a great ride through forested trails with Adrian who was very experienced, safe and patient with one slow rider. I would highly recommend this company for a fun safe ride.

On a day break from skiing Whistler, took the family (wife, kids age 7 & 9) on the family snow mobile tour. Met in Whistler Village and hopped on a bus for about a 20 min ride to Cougar Mountain where the site is. We got lucky as we were the only family on the tour so had the guide to ourselves. Josh was very friendly and a great guide. The highlight of the tour for the kids was the stop at the mini snowmobiles where they each got to drive a snowmobile around a track. Since we were the only family on the tour, Josh let the kids drive the snowmobiles as long as they wanted. My 7 year old son describes this as one of the highlights of the trip. All in all a very good time and a nice activity for an off day from skiing.

Sam(?) was our guide. T’all Swedish fellow. Took a bunch of us out in the beginners snowmobile tour. Fantastic views. About 1 hour actual riding. 20km or so. Straightforward track through the valley and the views. Recommend if you’re looking for something easy

I'm not one that enjoys writing poor reviews because ultimately it means I spent lots of money on an excursion and had a poor experience. My family, wife, two teenage sons and myself booked an intermediate level snow mobile tour today. Intermediate because we have done this several times and know how to operate these machines in the back country. This is their definition of an intermediate tour, "Wilderness Ride Intermediate Tour
Experience the next step in adventure snowmobiling! On this tour, aimed at guests with some experience, you can progress into more exciting terrain and tighter trails. Explore frozen lakes and play in Whistler’s backcountry. Guests should have some previous snowmobile, ATV or personal watercraft (Jet-ski) experience." What we experienced was a one hour tour of which 50 minutes of it was spent on a completely whooped out logging road and 10 minutes on a single track. We never got the machines above 20 mph. It was by far the worst snowmobile experience we've ever had. My boys were highly disappointed and my wife had to pee so bad from the whooped road that she almost peed her pants. I spent $800 for this experience. They should not be selling this at all until the snow conditions change and they should never call this an intermediate tour.

Hi Chris, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent snowmobile tour with The Adventure Group. We really appreciate all feedback we receive and use this information to improve the service and experience we provide. I apologise that your family’s experience did not live up to your expectations of an intermediate tour. Our intermediate tours are designed for riders who either have some snowmobile experience or, if not, ATV or jet-ski, for whom the learning curve might not be quite as steep as for someone with none of this experience (a beginner tour). It does not require extensive backcountry riding experience. I apologise if this was not communicated to you at the time of booking, however we do outline this in our promotional material on our website and brochures. From your description it sounds like your family are much more advanced riders than what this tour is aimed at. Safety is our absolute first priority, speed is never a focus. While the intermediate tour may end up traveling faster than a beginner tour, your guide will set a pace based the group demonstrating throughout the tour they can operate their snowmobiles safely for the current conditions and are following the instructions given during the safety talk at the start of the tour. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please email me directly (travis@tagwhistler.com) – I’d love to hear from you. Thanks, Travis

Austin took care of my wife, 10, 8 and 6 year old. My son Zane rode on the back of his snowmobile and couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend this activity for families who have young grade school children. They have all the gear you need as well.

Took the afternoon tour to Cougar Mountain to let the kids experience sledding and can not recommend it higher! Liam was our guide and he took time explaining how the snowmobile worked, and eased us into it slowly until we picked up the basics and then we were flying! We got to a big open area with great views, and they had mini snowmobiles which the kids had a go on. Liam again explained how they worked to the boys and made sure they were safe as they cruised around some fresh snow.

Excellent tour, excellent guide and an excellent time!
