My husband and I had such a great time on our Rainforest Hiking tour in Victoria! Alan was so kind and hospitable. He was very helpful and communicative even before we docked in Victoria. We arrived on a Disney cruise on Thursday morning and he greeted us at the port with our name on a sign. He took us on two different hikes and also showed us around the castle at Royal Roads University. We had a wonderful experience and recommend it to anyone visiting Victoria!

What a great experience! This was our 4th time in Victoria and never before did we get to explore these breathtaking rainforests. Thank you Alan for guiding us on this most awesome adventure. Alan has a thorough knowledge of the local flora and fauna, we learned so much. Alan was punctual, his vehicle was spotless, he offered us water and was a tremendous resource. We will be back in Victoria and will definitely book another adventure with Alan!

Our Australian family of four found ourselves in Victoria for a few days and wanted to see as much as we possibly could with the limited time that we had available. As we didn't have a car, we booked several private full day tours with Surfside Tours. Alan was a great guide, tailoring the itinerary to our interests. He was very accommodating and genuinely tried to fill the time with things that would be of interest to our group. My son and husband are keen kite surfers and they really appreciated being taken to the beach to watch the locals kite. We also thoroughly enjoyed the castle tours and could have easily spent even more time in Craigdarroch than we had allowed. Finishing the day with the Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens was just perfect. Thanks again for a great few days Alan! Hopefully we'll see you again in the Summer one year.

Our family of four from Australia was staying in Victoria for a few days and we were keen to see as much as we could of the local area. As we didn't have a car during our trip we booked two private tours as well as airport transfers with Surfside Adventure Tours. As a way to see as much as possible in a limited time it was great. Without this tour we would have found it very difficult to get far out of Victoria itself. Alan was punctual, lovely to chat with, and very accommodating, tailoring the tours to our interests. He also ensured that our group always had fresh water, raincoats and umbrellas as required. On this particular tour we particularly enjoyed the stop at Coombs. The market was far more fascinating than I'd imagined. I'd love to return when the goats are on the roof next time!

We scheduled the evening tour to Butchart Gardens. The annual Christmas Light event is the current display. Our tour guide was Richard. He is knowledgeable, an excellent personality and made our family feel welcome. The tour picked us up at our AirBNB and dropped us off there with no additional fee. Richard also recommended some local food destinations that didn’t disappoint. Overall the tour and the gardens blew us away. All of the family members were totally satisfied.

Richard was an amazing tour guide, I have never had such a thorough tour of a city. Highly recommended by our entire family. He mentioned an icecream and chocolate place that was amazing.

It was a great day and a memorable experience all round Alan was great, we had a really fun time seeing some of the sights and learning a bit about the history of vancouver island. Alan was really knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. the vehicle was really comfortable.The waterfalls were incredible and the rainforest walks were stunning. We got really lucky when Alan stopped to show us where the salmon travel up the river seeing some bald eagles sitting very close to the edge of the creek. It was a great day and a memorable experience all round

Last week, my husband and I wanted to get out into the renowned forests and natural areas outside of the city of Victoria, after we had spent several days in and near the city. The hike offered by Surfside Adventures was one of the only ones we could find, and we could fit it into our last afternoon on our visit. One of the guides, Alan A. answered our phone call and even made last-minute accommodations and change of plans for his day in order to fit in our hike for just my husband and me! We were touched by this level of service. Guide Alan A. picked us up at the Fairmont Empress and drove us to two different spots beyond the city for some hiking and exploring. We saw a forest filled with cedars and ferns, and we saw another hike with lush ivy-covered waterfalls. It was a great taste of the nature on Vancouver Island! The guide, Alan A. was knowledgeable, safety-conscious, professional, personable, and guided in just the best way to help us feel served well, to help us learn more about the area, and to have our afternoon be custom-oriented to what my husband and I were interested in seeing. We enjoyed getting to know Alan and hearing some of his story, which complemented his informative tour of the landscape and country (Canada) that is now his family's home. Hearing his love for the landscape, and getting to know someone who lives in Victoria, were benefits in addition to simply hiking and sightseeing. Alan was an incredible tour guide and customized our day to our delight. Really made this an easy, fun and enjoyable introduction to Victoria for our six female cousins. Very personable and knowledgeable guide.

We were fortunate enough to have the owner, Alan, as our tour guide. He was so easy to be with, and was so informative about the Totem Pole Indian sites and also early castles and government buildings in Victoria. He took us to the highest spot from which you could see the San Juan mountains and the American Olympic Peninsula. He even took excellent photos of us together in each stop along the tour. But most importantly, he was willing to adjust our tour to what we most wanted to see and how long we were there.

We took a full day tour to see the wild side of Vancouver island. We were met at our hotel and were driven in a large comfortable Toyota Highlander. The guide named Alan was very knowledgeable about the island and regaled us with interesting stories about the natural wonders of Vancouver island. Alan was thoughtful and responsive to our needs (toilets, mobility challenges, vegetarian food). He showed an interest in us and it was delightful to get to know him as well. He was a safe and careful driver (even through pouring rain). He provided water for our trip. We stopped at several provincial parks and did short hikes to see: * Waterfalls (multiple) * Massive old growth trees * Amazing views across Salish sea towards Washington state and across the strait of Georgia towards Vancouver We also stopped at a charming town full of murals about BC history. We followed a walking trail through the downtown and saw at least 20 murals in about 30 minutes. Lunch was in a large very busy market/ restaurant. It is famous for goats on the roof. We saw them. Overall this was a great experience. It was a particularly interesting complement to the other main attractions of Victoria which are formal gardens and British architecture.

Step off the highway and into the forest to enjoy the smell and feel of waterfalls nearby. It’s a perfect hike, not too much or too little to feel like you got some fresh air and forest scenery.
