About
Victoria has an abundance of two great things; beautiful historic churches and delicious chocolate. Join us on a guided walking tour that combines a history and an architectural tour of places of worship with a food tour where we will indulge in chocolate from local businesses. On this guided tour we will visit 3 places of worship including St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Christ Church Cathedral, and St. Andrew's Cathedral. Guests will hear stories of how they came to be and what makes them architecturally significant. Come hungry as we will visit six local businesses sure to satisfy the chocoholics in the group! Stops include historic Roger's Chocolates, Chocolats Favoris, Bon Macaron, Crust Bakery, La Taquisa, and the new Chocolate & Co, a collaborative shop of local chocolatiers. A perfect tour for history buffs and chocoholics!

Just a terrific experience for our small group of four, and Brenda was the ideal tour guide. So great to have the mix of Victoria & Island local history & anecdotal stories, with a chance to meet local chocolatiers & aficionados. Even as locals, we were shown hidden gems of the city that we hadn't been aware of, and stories that completed the mosaic in a unique way.

Recommend this tour as the best few hours you could possibly spend. Brilliant!

Bonnie knows the food scene in the beautiful city of Victoria inside & out. Well-planned walking tour itinerary, very informative, interesting, fun, lots of sweet tasting treats from macaroons to fondue, and romanticizes chocolate as a whole from the chocolatier to the chocolate maker.

Highly advisable to have a good breakfast before as there are numerous sweet tastings in the scope of the tour. Try something out of the ordinary as you sample the goodies like a Blue Cheese Macaroon or a Marshmallow dipped in Salted Caramel Fondue. You will discover good places to dine that you always passed by or neglected like the La Taquisa Mexican Restaurant where you’ll get the chance to try their delicious veggie mole with chocolate of course or the yummy baked good at the Crust Bakery. Visit them afterwards and support the entrepreneurial spirit of the city.

After the tour, you will have an inkling of where your favorite type of chocolate may it be dark, milk, or white came from and the process of how it was made.

Bonnie was a great guide. We learned a lot of Victoria history while indulging in some fabulous and varied chocalte experiences, from soft ice cream to tacos with mole sauce to traditional chocolates and drinking chocolate. Very decent sized samples at all locations.

The Chocolate and Churches tour was awesome. Two things I liked the best were that besides sweet treats with chocolate we also got to taste a savory one, and the fact that the tastes at each stop were rather generous. I would definitely recommend not eating lunch before the 1:00 tour. There was plenty to eat during the two hours. I also appreciated that at one of the stops we were allowed to choose two chocolates from the display case in addition to the standard ones they provide for each tour guest to sample. that was kind of a fun added touch. We are vegetarian and Bonnie was easily able to accommodate us. In fact she introduced us to the veggie molé at La Taquisa. It was so incredible we went back for two days in a row for lunch just to eat it again!

Hi, So glad you went back to La Taquisa! We also think their tacos are incredible and we wanted to bring new flavours to the Chocolate & Churches tour so we added a neat savoury mole stop. It was a delight meeting you and so glad you enjoyed the tour. Hope to see you again, Bonnie

What a fun way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon! We were greeted by our 2 tour guides and off we went to some of the best chocolatiers in downtown Victoria, all of whom were expecting us and had our treats ready. The churches were lovely as well. Our guides were interesting and easy to get to know. We'll definitely take another of their tours!

Hello, Thank you for your review of the Chocolate & Churches Tour, so glad you enjoyed the tour and you lucked out and got 2 tours guides! We love the chocolate on the tour, some from chocolatiers that have been operating since the 1800s and some brand new businesses that opened this year, a great mix. And the churches we visit are some of the oldest in Western Canada and definitely majestic. Thank you again for the review, hope to see you again soon! Bonnie
