Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 289guyh0 contributionsCouldn't have enjoyed it more. Great experienceThis review comes as part of an itinerary of a road trip arranged by Audley Travel. Staff were very helpful and the boat was wheelchair accessible. Getting on and off was easy and I was made to feel comfortable throughout the whole trip. We saw some fantastic wildlife. Really pleased with the whole experience.Written October 8, 2024
- MDale0 contributionsWhaley amazing 😁We booked this a year ago and could not wait...it didn't disappoint in any way. Carol, Ciao, Liam and Trev were fantastic guides and we saw so much - Orcas, Humpbacks, Sea Lions and a Sea Otter. It was a truly fantastic trip and the knowledge shared with us was tremendous. We could not have been in better hands. If you are looking to book a tour then do go with Eagle Wing - all of the team are so friendly and helpful. Go on, book it 👍Written October 3, 2024
- ldsTexas20160 contributionsAbsolutely fabulous!Fabulous! This was so much fun! The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell they loved their jobs. They shared so much interesting information with us! We saw several whales and sea lions during our trip. The boat was comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend!Written October 2, 2024
- 79willm0 contributions10 out of 10! Highly recommend this organization for a boat tour. This tour was awesome!!! Captain Trev and Sam were both excellent tour guides, very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Our tour was fortunate enough to see a variety of wildlife including orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, porpoises, and a variety of birds. The staff had loaner coats for all passengers, plus optional gloves, sunglasses, etc. so that everyone was able to focus on the experience rather than the conditions. I'd highly recommend Eagle Wing to anyone looking for a quality tour.Written October 1, 2024
- Rhiannonn660 contributionsThe Best Experience delivered by experts who definitely went further than other companiesThis was the best experience I could imagine delivered by enthusiastic, knowledgeable experts Brett and Evan. The morning of the trip they had some information about the possibility of Orcas some distance away. There were other tour companies who were watching humpbacks much closer to shore. Brett and Evan didn’t take the easy option. We motored out to see if we were able to locate the Orcas. We found around 13 of them, with calves, in playful mood . We watched at a respectful distance and at times with engines off in the silence of the Saltish sea. It was absolutely magical, they were breaching and swimming under our boat. We were given so much information about them and were able to listen to their communication from microphones placed over board. I honestly will never forget the experience and felt close to tears on times. Thanks to Eagle Wing and Brett and Evan particularly who made this an exceptional trip. So glad we booked with them!Written September 29, 2024
- paulineh500 contributionsAmazing area plus sunsetThe area without animals is amazing already. The boat trip is very quite and you dont get wet. But be prepared: the wind could be very chilly. We were able to see Sea lions, orcas and deer on our trip. On the way back we saw an amazing sunset.Written September 29, 2024
- pbridge13000 contributionsVery enjoyable trip, recommendedExcellent staff, starting with the person at the counter who sold us our tickets and who gave us good advice. Thank you Sam and Lily on the boat. Very successful trip, lots of humpbacks and beautiful sightings of seven orcas. The boat was generally smooth and comfortable. Good value, recommended. Bring more layers of warm clothes than you think you need. The boat has jackets and caps and gloves but why not have your own? This was a wet September day and it was cold.Written September 25, 2024
- meganmA3868YN0 contributionsAbsolutely Amazing!!We LOVED this tour! We saw humpback whales and so many seals and sea lions! The mountain views were also spectacular. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the sights. Extra layers such as coats and gloves were provided, however I highly suggest bringing warm layers with you even if you don't think you'll need them. Overall it was an excellent experience and I definitely recommend!!Written September 25, 2024

- WillB1417960 contributionsA Must-Do if staying in Victoria! We had an exceptional trip! Hosted by Ryleigh, Izzy, Cptn Russ and Caio! Ryleigh was brilliant, very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer all of our questions (we had quite a few!) The crew expertly guided us to see Orcas, Humpbacks and Sea Lions and spent plenty of time tracking them so we got plenty of time to see these amazing creatures in the wild! You have to book this!Written September 20, 2024
- SandraL73150 contributionsBravo!!!!!! Times a millionThis was my daughter’s DREAM. Seeing wild orcas and humpbacks…….surreal. Brett and Chrystelle are AMAZING. - sammX1758SY0 contributionsIncredible whale watching experienceThis trip was so incredible, I wished I had time to do it again the next day! Captain Pete and Tom were wonderful guides, who truly cared about making sure we saw everything we were hoping to. They got us out to see TONS of Humpback Whales, orca whales, sea lions and seals. It’s also clear that Tom, Pete and Eagle Wing are passionate about education and ocean conservation - something I was conscious of ahead of booking. I can’t recommend Eagle Wing enough!!Written September 19, 2024
- J3078NEhelenr0 contributionsIncredible!!This tour was better than I could have imagined… it’s not guaranteed you’ll see anything in particular but we saw killer whales, humpbacks, seals, sea lions, porpoises and various birds of course. Insane. The sunset was also the best I’ve ever seen as the water got so flat. We went very beginning on Sep :) kudos to the team for being so friendly, knowledgeable and caring for the wildlife!!! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!Written September 17, 2024

We booked the evening cruise, and as hoped there we few other boats around and we saw some whales!
The boat is fast (therefore noisy at high speed) but comfortable inside, with plenty of outdoor space. Room for everyone inside if the weather is bad. On our three hour trip we probably spent about 2 hours "commuting" at high speed to and from the watching area, and maybe 3/4 of an hours searching and watching the whales. Be prepared for that and you won't be disappointed and its worth it to see the magnificent beasts. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic naturalists on board with lots of info and to answer questions.
There is a toilet but no catering on the boat so take tour own food/drink. You can get a discount at the many food stalls on the quayside with your Eagle Tours lanyard, so worth checking in early if you want food. Be aware the stalls will all be shut when the sunset trip gets back.

Good afternoon Gardenlodger,
Thank you for taking the time to review your tour! You have some great advice to future guests. Every tour is different, and some days the whales are closer than others, so we never know what to expect from day to day! We're happy to hear you had a great sunset tour, and we hope you will join us again the next time you visit Victoria!

This was a wonderful experience. Saw some seals and stopped at Island that had Fallow deer, sheep on the barren side of the island. The other side was forested. Lili was the narrator and was very knowledgeable however at times the talk was too much and would have liked a bit more quiet time to enjoy the ocean and beauty of our wonderful place. The weather was windy and cold even though on shore it was fairly warm. Would take the advice of the tour and weather layers. You can always take items off if it gets too warm. No food on board but you can bring water. We did see orcas and it was fantastic to see these amazing animals. I would suggest this tour and well worth the money. The crew were great and hospitable and do not have anything negative to comment on. The catamaran was the best of both worlds. Not a fully open boat and did have a place inside if you got too cold.

It was a whale watching tour we were looking forward to and thankfully it lived up to our expectations! Though the weather up top above the sea was grey and cloudy, the sea itself was like a mill pond so as we sped along in our motorboat, it was easy to see any movement in the sea. The aim was to find a pod of humpback whales which we did but ahead of reaching that, we saw a small number of orcas as well. Then the highlights - the pod!
Karac, our guide, estimated the pod to be up to a 100 in size which was quite believable given we could easily see a good number flapping their tails, breaching and the ever-present sight of their ‘plumes’. A magical experience.
En route back to the harbour we also saw a large number of harbour seals which added to the trip.
Karac was very knowledgeable about whales and marine life in general informing us of numerous facts which added to the trip.
Overall, a great experience. If you wanted to do a trip of this nature, then I would recommend Eagle Wing Tours.

An excellent trip. We had initially booked for the small open boat sunset tour but due to the poor weather that was cancelled due to lack of passengers. Instead we sailed on the catamaran which takes 64 passengers but had only 25 for our sailing. This gave us plenty of room inside and outside.
The captain made good speed into the open channel when the covered area was appreciated. We had plenty of warm waterproof clothing with us but for those who didn't there was plenty to borrow.
We arrived with 2 other whale watching boats to the area where there were 2 humpback whales feeding. We watched them for a while them had the good fortune to see one of them completely breech the water which was an amazing sight.
The other 2 vessels then headed back to port but we continued on to watch a lone humpback feed. It seemed inquisitive and the captain cut the engines, the whale then swam right under the hull of the catamaran close to the surface so you could see the outline of its body. The whale then circled again and swam at the bow surfacing between the hulls of the catamaran so we could see its eye - it looked as though it was watching us! We could see the barnacles on its body in detail it was so close. It then swan on its way.
We returned to shore as it was dusk but visited the Sea Lions close to the lighthouse which were interesting .
The captain knew were to head to but always gave the whales their own space. The 2 crew provided interesting information about the whales and their habitats.
Overall an amazing trip

This was an amazing tour filled with knowledgeable staff. Whenever Meaghan spoke I couldn't stop listening while I looked on at the wildlife from the boat. Her knowledge was extensive and you could really feel her passion for what she does. I retained so much information and have been sharing it to anyone that will listen to me. It definitely has me thinking about the small changes I can make as one person to help take care of our ecosystem.
My sister and I had a wonderful trip to Victoria and this was definitely one of the highlights. We cannot wait to go back during whale season to check out the humpbacks!!

We had a group of international visiting scholars in town and took them on the Wild 4 Whales tour on July 21st at 2PM. What an incredible experience! With our fantastic guides, we were able to see about 20 humpback whales througout the trip, plus loads of harbour seal mums & babes and sea lions at Race Rocks. The partially covered catamaran was so comfortable - there was loads of space for people to choose to be inside to warm up, or outside to enjoy the wind and waves. We had a bit of choppy water that was expertly navigated by our captain, Lilly our naturalist was full of energy and information that was provided in both French and English. That this company is carbon-neutral is an excellent bonus. The whole experience from booking to completion was outstanding, and I would 10/10 recommend booking a whale watching experience with Eagle Wing.

I took my 10 year old daughter on the larger catamaran for a whale watching tour. The staff were amazing. Lilli shared with us her vast knowledge and passion for whales and answered all of my 10 year olds questions with enthusiasm. Selina learned all of the kids names during the trip and kept them engaged. Captain Brett literally went the extra mile and gave us a trip of a lifetime! We saw two separate pods of Orca - 15 in total and one lone humpback. We had taken trips on smaller boats before (and enjoyed it) but on a cold windy day it was nice to have the inside space to warm up in. The bigger boat was nice for the kids too who don’t always want to sit still for 3-4 hours. Highly recommend this for all ages!

WOW!!! What amazing trips we had out on Wild 4 Whales. We were returning customers, having been out on 4 Ever Wild three years previously, and wouldn't consider booking with any other company.
We went out on consecutive days and besides amazing wildlife, we were looked after and entertained very well by Captain Pete, Derek, Izzy and Kristina on day one and Captain Russ, Derek, Meaghan and Kristina on day two. Huge thank you to you all. It was a very warm day on land but still very cold out at sea so dress warmly. I suffer from seasickness but the boat was very stable and I didn't feel queasy once (I had taken tablets).
On day one we desperately wanted to see orcas and we weren't disappointed. We saw two different pods (a dream come true for my daughter). At one point the orcas we were watching disappeared and then resurfaced not far from our boat. They were amazing to watch. On the return journey we visited race rocks and saw lots of seals, sealions, various birds and super-cute Ollie the otter.
On day two we were more relaxed about what we hoped to see. Captain Russ took us a long way west to see a large gathering of humpback whales. There were no other boats around because Eagle Wing are the only company that will consider going so far. We watched as whale after whale dove down, then suddenly a whale breached not far from our boat. It was incredible!
On the way back we were heading for Race Rocks but suddenly took a diversion - orcas had been spotted! Taking the diversion to see them made us late back to harbour. Eagle Wing don't run on a strict time schedule but go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience possible.
If I didn't live thousands of miles away I'd be a very regular customer!! Still, I hope to be back one day...

What an incredible day! We visited on July 31st as a party of 13. The Eagle Wing crew took great care of us from booking, waivers and on through the trip itself. They are extremely knowledgeable and work to ensure everyone on the trip has a great time and gets load of information. Our group ranged from age 5 to over 70, and everyone had an amazing time. Also the requirement for mask at the beginning of the trip and inside the cabins was quite reasonable and greatly appreciated. The staff sanitized regularly and we felt safe on the trip.
Thanks for the great trip!

This was one of the greatest experiences of my life. We completed payment and waivers online, so all we had to do was show up and hop on the boat and the whole day was just so well organized. We must have been lucky because saw about 15 Orca Killer Whales and a Humpback whale and some even swam right under our boat.
Tom and Kristine were on the deck with us the whole time, pointing out where we should be looking, entertaining us, making jokes and also educating us on all the animals and the area. They were awesome!
The crew worked hard to ensure we had the best possible experience and see as many whales as possible, and they did not disappoint. I would do this 100 times again!!

I would like to know if the open boat would be too cold on June 1 at the 9am cruise time.
Written May 9, 2023
It will be cold but the crew have warm coats and gloves if you feel chilly. If you go to the back of the boat this will reduce the wind chill. I would say don’t miss the tour as it is so worthwhile. Wear layers and enjoy the journey

Eagle wings will tell you what's best but the open fast boat does not sound sensible; it's wet, windy and (could be) chilly.

Are you running this in the first week of January please? Thanks, Alix

They are open every day, save Christmas day. If they can't getcha on a particular day/time, they'll reschedule you or hook you up with another company.

Hello
We are planning a trip to BC the first week of May 2020. I know you indicate May is still good for spotting whales, but is there a large chance they may not be there quite yet?

There is never a guarantee that you will be able to spot whales (they are wild and free animals), but the crew will do their very best for you to be able to spot a few.

I’m not sure pets are allowed, maybe email them :)

what time does boat depart and arrive? We are looking for morning, not sunset

The tour we took was the first boat out in the morning- 9 am. There are also tours that leave at 9:30, 10 am, etc. They are 3-4 hour trips.
The challenge with the first tour of the morning is that you are the scout tour- finding the locations of the animals for everyone else later in the day.
We were also told the morning cruises are the warmest- the winds in the sound pick up as the day goes on.

Hello, what is your success rate of seeing killer whales? Also, do you have any policy in case of no whale sighting?

We were disappointed with Eagle WIng. We had travelled from Australia to see Orcas and spent about Can$1,000 with Eagle WIng. Despite their impressive website, assurances that they look hard for whales, and verbal assurances that they keep looking, Eagle WIng took us out and returned us in minimal time.
We did see humpback whales, but if you want to see an Orca consider another company.
We had a superb dive with whale sharks off the Australian coast. That company used spotter planes to direct boats to the whale sharks. With the fees Eagle Wing charges they could easily use a spotter plane.
Not sure about any guarantees, but if you are only in Victoria for a day or two the promise of another boat ride is hollow because you probably won't have time for another boat ride.
Good luck!
