Meet your guide and storyteller for the afternoon at a central meeting point, and get ready to learn the secrets of Stanley Park. Take a hidden path to the seawall, where you’re treated to views of Coal Harbour and hear the chilling tale of Deadman’s Island. A quick break gives you time to see authentic First Nations totem poles before returning to the secret side of the park. Tales of a forgotten cemetery, a lost village, and Stanley Park’s most notorious crime compete for interest with the public art you pass, as you stroll past centuries-old trees that have grown in the park since the time before Captain Vancouver sailed up the Burrard Inlet. Having seen a part of Vancouver even locals may have missed, your tour ends back at your starting point.

Start:
  • 845 Avison Way, Vancouver, BC V6G 3E2, Canada
Meet your guide beside the whale statue outside the Vancouver Aquarium.
End:This activity ends back at the meeting point.

A Night of Discovery on the Lost Souls Tour of Gastown
On a perfectly crisp September 30th night, we embarked on the Lost Souls of Gastown walking tour, guided by the talented Cole, also known as George. His performance was both informative and passionate, bringing the rich and haunting history of the area to life with remarkable accuracy. As we wandered through Gastown's beautifully preserved buildings, we were captivated not only by the tales of the past but also by the atmospheric surroundings. The group of fellow explorers added to the experience, making the evening one of shared wonder and discovery, as we reveled in both the stories and the stunning architecture. Thanks Cole!

      Great experience!!
We had such a great time with our wonderful guide! We can only recommend the tour, especially if it is your first day in Vancouver (we did the tour at 8 pm on a Friday). You get a lot of information about the city, the people and their stories (which are presented in an awesome way) plus it's also a great way to explore the city!

Fantastic tour. Great tour guide, who was informative, friendly, open to questions, and clearly liked by locals. Many stories, that as someone from a different country, I didn't know any of them, but feel like they will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommend this tour to anyone in the area.

Thanks a lot for this very interesting walk around downtown Vancouver. It was not my first time in Vancouver but I got to discover some new places and to hear some great stories. Our guide was great! And the treats are also very worth it!

      A Wonderful Evening Walk!
We had a wonderful, very informative “old” gentleman from the 1800’s named “George”, (whose real name was Cole). He told us the story of Gastown, how it started and by whom, and what happened there. So many facts and exciting stories. We were completely enthralled with his storytelling. He was an excellent actor. We walked to different places while he spun his stories. He kept us all together and waited until we all “gathered ‘round” to continue his stories so that no one missed out. When asking us questions, if we got the answer correct, we were given a golden nugget (a Werther’s caramel). What a fun way to spend the evening. I highly recommend you take this tour and ask for “George” as your tour guide.

      Fantastic tour, fabulous tour guide
A really fun and interesting tour of downtown Vancouver. Glenn is a fantastic tour guide - knowledgeable, personable, funny, and a really gifted storyteller with an ear for gossip about the city and some of its more scandalous characters. The tour is about two hours long, interspersed with welcome stops to try out some of Vancouver’s best pastries and sweet treats - all included in the ticket price. We highly recommend this tour. Glenn’s insights, recommendations and tips were fantastic. A great tour which even the wet weather could not dampen!

      Fun Tour
I recently did this evening tour while in Vancouver for a conference. Despite the title, the tour was not scary. This tour focused on the history of Gastown, the original settlement in Vancouver, including some of the darker events in its history. Our tour guide did a fantastic job. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Vancouver for the first time.

      Interesting and entertaining
Throughout the walking tour our guide Rachel was informative and entertaining. We saw parts of Vancouver that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise and learned about the history of these buildings. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours while seeing some of the city.

      Fantastic Tour with Glenn!!
This tour was amazing! We bought tickets for our friend’s birthdays and joined them so we could have a fun day out together and fun is what we had! We are local to vancouver and it was so nice to be a tourist in our own city! Glenn was an absolute blast and a fantastic story teller. He was funny, personable, engaging and answered all our questions. The treats were INCREDIBLE, and the sites we visited were super cool and interesting. We will be back to do more tours with Glenn - highly recommend!!!

What an inspiring history tour through Davie Village 🌈
We took the walking tour through Davie Village with Glenn and it was really great getting a glimpse of the highlights and downlights of Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQIA+ history! Glenn is a great storyteller and did a tremendous job of researching all the personal stories from various decades.

What a wonderful and informative tour. Our guide Glenn made it really special and you could see both his passion and great education (storytelling, theater school) at work. We would recommend to spend the money and 2hours as great investment into the history and dark secrets of Stanley Park!

The whole experience! Was absolutely blown away by the history that came forth!
As a young teen I spent a lot of time in Stanley Park, especially watching the polar bears, just loved them.
Did not know how Stanley Park became, even though I was schooled in BC.
Our Story Teller Glenn was amazing, kept us intrigued and answered questions.
    Highly recommend this experience!

As always, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides make this walk in the park an educational and entertaining experience. Teo's storytelling talents made 2 hours out in iffy weather fly by. A excellent way to spend a Sunday morning with friends or family whether you're a local or a tourist.

I grew up in Vancouver and learned a ton about Stanley Park and our history. The stories were engaging and appealing to locals and tourists alike. Our guide was passionate, articulate, and knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of our questions, tugged at our hearts, and got us to laugh. I can't recommend it enough.

This tour was very well planned and executed. I liked that there were only seven quests, which made it easy to stay together and get close the the guide to hear the stories. There is so much history in Stanley Park, and our guide, Aman, was a walking encyclopedia of information. He had pictures and other visual aides, read poetry and stories from books he brought along. Great sense of humour and answered all questions. Add that it was a beautiful morning, this was time well spent. I look forward to bringing more people along on this and other tours that Forbidden Vancouver offers. Keep up the great work.

I loved hearing the history of Deadman's island and the indigenous villages at Stanley Park. Both entertaining and informative. Our guide Glenn was excellent, particularly loved hearing his readings of the poems of Pauline Johnson.

Bravo Forbidden Vancouver!! I live in Vancouver. I have walked in/around Stanley Park literally hundreds of times. I learned SO MUCH on this tour!!! Hundreds of years of history that has been all but lost in the hustle and bustle of this fast growing city. Glenn is an exceptionally talented storyteller who chose to punctuate this experience by sharing with us several very well selected first hand historical experiences as well as rounding it out with some botanical insights. Particularly in light of our first observation of Truth and Reconciliation Day, I found this tour most appropriate and respectfully presented.

We were wowed by our gracious and well informed professional storyteller, Glenn (two n’s)! Wasn’t sure what we were in for when booked, but we are very glad we did. Great, informative, and poignant, this walking tour took about two hours with plenty of breaks. We will absolutely take the other tours Forbidden Vancouver has available based on the excellence of this tour. Well done!

Our tour guide, Glenn, was very knowledgeable about the history of Stanley Park, Vancouver and the original First Nation residents. Of equal importance were his story telling skills. Glenn was very engaging and welcomed questions, while encouraging participants to share their knowledge as well. This tour was very informative and fun!
