        Outstanding tour with Michael.
We had a terrific experience on our tour of Vancouver with Michael. He took us through a large number of areas and neighborhoods during the course of the day, and completely held our attention with his engaging manner and his incredible depth of knowledge. He is truly an outstanding guide, and he displays his very evident passion for his city very nicely. We learned a great deal, and we had fun! Michael, thank you for a great tour!!

Spent an amazing day exploring Vancouver with a very knowledgeable tour guide, Michael! He was a wealth of information, attentive to our needs and the ensured that our kids (14 &8) were both entertained, educated and engaged! 100% recommend this if you have a day to spend in Vancouver and want to see it all!

        Small group tour of Vancouver
The guide Mike was very knowledgeable and took us on a 6+ hr tour of various areas of Vancouver. I especially enjoyed the drive around the suburb Shaughnessy and looking at the incredible houses. I had previously been to Stanley Park but still learnt much about the Totem Poles, the history of the park and just appreciated the enormity of the park. I would highly recommend this tour

        Super Day in Squamish!
We had a wonderful day with Michael touring the Squamish region. Picked us up at the port with our luggage and spent the whole day touring the area. Weather turned out great and we had beautiful views from the gondola. We really enjoyed the mine tour and seeing Shannon Falls. Great lunch at the brewery. Michael has a very comfortable van with extra touches like umbrellas and blankets. He has so much knowledge and loves sharing his home. Highly recommend.

        Exceptional Private Tour
Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about Vancouver! We learned so much and visited out of the way places we would never find on our own. He was also flexible and took us to a place we asked to go. This was truly an exceptional experience and recommend it highly.

        Just OK
We took this tour in May 2023. The guide called and said he was going to be late because he was picking up another party at the cruise terminal and they were going to be late. Once we were picked up, he told us the other party had still not gotten off the ship and we were going to pick them up next. We waited in the cruise terminal for another 45 minutes before they arrived. Once we got going, it was fairly interesting, but in my opinion too long. Maybe that was due to a very slow start. We at lunch as a group in Granville island market at a restaurant the guide suggested. It was ok. The New England clam chowder was nothing like you’d get in New England. We went to an ice cream shop that had the “largest selection in the world”. We stopped at Stanley Park and saw the totems, drove through the park and saw various points there and also drove through the city. We went inside the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant that has a unique streetcar inside. I think a 5 star rating is generous. The guide was ok. Not outstanding. I’ve had much more engaging guides than this one. Additionally, I think it was unacceptable to have us wait so long for the rest of our tour group to arrive. I understand he is trying to make a living, but if I were that late for a tour, I would expect the tour to leave without me.

        Don’t miss this tour!
An outstanding tour of Vancouver with Mike, a driver with incredible knowledge of the history of the city and its residents. He also was full of information about the forest and landscape. The tour included all of the highlights of the city and a guided tour of many quaint stores and locations.

        Exceptional trip
On a scale of 1-5, this excursion was a 15!! Michael took us to most of Vancouver’s sights plus a few “locals only” places. We got out many times to walk the areas while he kept up an amazingly knowledgeable talk. He answered many political & social questions with superior insight. Just a fantastic day with a great insight into this city & country!

        A full tour of Vancouver
We were picked up at our hotel right on time. We were seated in a Mercedes passenger van that was comfortable and clean. Mike, the owner and tour guide, greeted us warmly and took us with two other couples on a full day tour of Vancouver. We got a full six hours of all the highlights of Vancouver on a personal style. The tour was informative and intimate; with every question answered in full. We learned about the history of Vancouver; from its settlers and founders to current residents and businesses. We traveled to Stanley Park to tour the park and learn about totem poles to vegetation and trees. We were offered a rest stop along the way. We also stopped at Granville Island, Olympic Village, Shaunessy neighborhood with explanations and history of all points. We got to choose a lunch spot not included in tour pricing, but very delicious. We learned about nature, history, architecture, food , customs. Also a visit to Chinatown and Gastown. We had extra and ample time to witness the steam clock and grab a souvenir. On Granville, we got to enter the public market and see Vancouvers highlight. Mike the operator and owner told jokes , but was delightful and professional. We totally recommend this tour to anyone that wants to experience Vancouver for the first time or revisit Vancouver in a different light. Thanks Mike for your knowledge ,courtesy , and respect. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and glad we went on this tour

        Vancouver in the Van!
After hearing about this tour from our friends, we booked it while in Vancouver after the Rocky Mountaineer. We were SO glad that we did! Michael is the owner and was our chauffeur and tour guide. His Mercedes Benz van was very comfortable for the 10 of us, and he is a great driver. The tour was to be about 5 hours, but it ended up being 7 hours. We saw so many interesting and beautiful Vancouver sights. Having lived there for over 30 years, Michael has the expertise about and love of Vancouver. He is an expert on plants, trees, building architecture, fishing, and history. You might think how can one person be an expert in so many areas. I don't know, but HE IS! What a wealth of information and such a memory for facts and dates and all kinds of tidbits of interesting information. Plus, he is a really nice guy! Very caring and empathetic, too. His personality shines through, and we all felt very comfortable. It was a long day, BUT...we saw it all in comfort and had a lot of fun! I highly recommend Michael and his company's tours. Ask him about the lures that he handcarves.

Michael is a knowledgeable guide and we enjoyed our tour. Snack packs were a nice touch - but also a necessity when lunch comes at the end of all the tastings.

Our fault for not reading the description as closely as we should have before booking, but we were shocked to find that the tasting fees were not included for the price that we paid.

Also a little dismayed to find another couple on the trip benefitting by not having to pay a tasting fee because of the wine I purchased - while members in our party still were charged.

Lawrence picked my husband and I promptly as promised, and the only reason our tour was delayed at all was three members of the group got turned around trying to get to us. Lawrence kept an interesting commentary on our surroundings going during the drive. We stopped at three very nice wineries, each very different, and finished our day with a stop for lunch. The entire day was very pleasant and Lawrence is very entertaining and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting the small group experience

My cousin and I went on this tour and were surprised to be the only two going that day, our guide was the owner, Michael.
We were picked up punctually and everything was taken care of for us. Michael is very knowledgeable not only about the vineyards but being a local man he has a wealth of anecdotes. We were taken in Michael's MB Sprinter van, which was clean and comfortable. Three of the vineyards we visited are worthy of mention:
Backyard Vineyards. The lady who gave us the talk was very au fait and informed about the wines on offer. The wines were all of good quality and we did purchase bottles to take home.
Festina Lente Estate Winery. The lady who guided us through the many samples I think was the owner. She had a small farm with bees from which she collected honey. This was the mead winery. The range of "fruit" wines and those with the addition of honey were surprisingly light and refreshing, not at all cloying or over sweet. We did purchase bottles to take home as well as eggs from her free range hens.
Blackwood Lane Vineyards and Winery. This vineyard and winery was the last we visited and by far the best in my opinion. I could have just stayed here and sampled all day! We were extremely lucky to meet the owner who brimmed with enthusiasm and charisma. Characteristics of someone who took great pride in his product (and very rightly so). He took us onto the terrace overlooking his vines and explained his journey to being here and his ambitions to make one of Canada's best wines, not to be the biggest producer but a contender on the world scene of boutique wine. I found the Sea Buck Reisling irresistible and my cousin one of the big reds. Not cheap but worth it.
Onwards with Michael to our lunch stop. I had Elk Stew which was similar to a hearty mild beef stew and my cousin had salmon. Our lunch was not high end by any means but honest filling cafe style food. We were hungry and ate everything.
Overall a good day out. The scenery and information given en route was excellent. The only thing I found a bit disappointing was there was no fizz on offer. I did learn that it is in limited supply and was all gone.
Any connoisseur may very well be disappointed in the selection we sampled but for social drinking the samples were ok. Canadian wines are young and I think before long they will be known for more than Ice Wine.
Thank you Michael for an introduction to Frazer Valley wine and excellent customer satisfaction.

I would give this tour a 5+ if I could. Michael Lawrence the owner of Lawrence Tours was our guide. Nothing was left to chance and Michael's customer service is a model of how to do things right, from leaving a message at our hotel updating us on when our pick up would be to personally conducting our tour to his knowledgeable and always cordial commentary on locales we were traveling through and the wineries we were visiting. Choice of a wide variety of wineries was perfect and lunch venue could not have been better; moreover, Michael's personality wonderfully facilitated our interaction with a delightful group of fellow travelers. His MB Sprinter was clean, comfortable, and very well-maintained. Thanks, Michael, for one of the absolute best tours on our recent one week visit throughout Seattle, San Juan Islands, Victoria and Vancouver.

I highly recommend Michael and his wonderful tour of the Fraser Valley wine region! My partner and I chose to book this tour after doing extensive research on several different Vancouver area winery tour options. We chose this tour for two main reasons: 1) Unlike some of the other wine tasting tours we researched, there was no minimum number of guests required for the tour to operate. Our tour had just one other group of 3 people, and the small group experience was absolutely preferable to my partner and I--we are not the large party bus types. 2) This was the only tour we found that included a meadery. We love mead, and wanted this more unusual experience which can’t be found just anywhere.

Michael himself was a wonderful tour guide. He picked us up right in front of our hotel, and peppered our bus ride with multiple interesting facts about the Vancouver area and Fraser Valley wine region. It quickly became clear that Michael has personal relationships with the owners of each of the wineries that we visited, which resulted in learning a lot about the fascinating history of each winery (and meadery). Michael also engaged in conversation with each of us throughout the tour, and getting to know Michael personally gave the tour a personal touch that stands out from other similar tours I have experienced. Michael even gave us a recommendation for an absolutely incredible Malaysian restaurant (Banana Leaf), which we would not have discovered otherwise. We ended up having one of the most memorable meals there out of our entire 7 day trip!

Note that the cost of this tour does not include tasting fees, something we were aware of beforehand. However, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the meadery did not charge us any tasting fees because of the great relationship they have with Michael. Impressive!

The only negative aspect of the tour was that it did not include lunch, like we’d hoped. Apparently this was because the restaurant that used to be part of the tour closed down due to COVID--something that can’t be helped, obviously. To make up for this, Michael did pack us a nice bag of snacks in place of lunch, which we greatly appreciated.

In total, we visited 3 wineries (Backyard, Township 7, Blackwood Lane) plus the meadery (Festina Lente) over the course of 5-6 hours. Each of these had very different tasting menus, which gave us a wonderfully wide variety of wines and meads to try. We live very close to Napa, Sonoma, and several other fabulous California wine regions, and the selection of wineries we visited in the Fraser Valley completely held their own against California wines. If and when we ever return to Vancouver, we will certainly consider booking another tour with Lawrence Tours.

When we first saw wine tours in Western British Columbia's Fraser River Valley, I was skeptical expecting to find fortified fruit wines or low quality whites. Color me amazed! Our guide Michael brought us to three small but quality wine makers with both whites and reds that deserved serious consideration. The reds from Blackwood Lane (Bordeau style blends of the five Bordeau varietals) rank with the finest big reds I've experienced. The fourth stop at a Meadery was a pleasant introduction to Chaucers libation. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Vancouver wishing to experience the nearby rural environs and meet local wine makers.
