not so much walking lots of delicious eating!
Feb 2020
Our Guide Tia, was animated, punctual, knowledgeable, interactive and funny. Kudos to Taste Vancouver for scoring such a great guide! We had delicious truffle Pasta at Soppra Sotto, and Delicious Margarita Pizza at Famosos Neapolitan Pizzeria and a wonderful Italian sandwich at La Gotta del Formagio and then the best hazelnut Gelato ever at Dolce Amore, a wonderful plate of cheese and fruit and meats at Santa Barbara Deli and finally cappuccinos and Cannolis at Continental coffee and a food coma . . . we were having so much fun we all forgot to take out our phones and document the experience - - - 10 outta 10!!!!

Lots of great food on The Drive
It's always fun playing tourist in my own town. While I was familiar with some of the stops, I learned about some new restaurants too. Jewel was a great tour director and took good care of us.

A filling and enjoyable event
Jul 2019 • Couples
Just got home from the Little Italy walking food tour. Our guide, Brent, did a spectacular job. He kept the tour moving, was very clear about the information, and even did some food substitutions when needed. The four savoury food stops were all quite delicious but I was a little disappointed that Famoso was one of the stops, since it’s a chain and I’ve had it before. The other three stops were great. I was full before we even got to dessert! Two of the dessert stops were at coffee shops so that was a little redundant but I was thrilled to finally try affogato. At the end of the tour, we even got to take home a bag of fresh ravioli. The tour was well organized and it seemed like they had the system down to an art, which I really appreciated. Definitely recommend this tour for couples and friends!

Thank you for joining our Little Italy Tour! How happy are we not to hear that the tour was so organized. Brent will be very happy to hear. We also appreciate your feedback regarding Famoso.

Need More Food
We went on the Little Italy Tour in Vancouver and were a little disappointed. The tour side of things was great, and Brent was very knowledgeable about the area. The food however was a slight let down and we were left hungry. We only had 4 ‘main’ meals, 1 cheese/ meat platter, two desserts and two coffees. Having two coffees in a row seemed like overkill and could have better been substituted with another Italian meal. Overall we were please with the experience of the tour, and the people we met, but just wanted more food.

Good fun on Commercial Drive!

I'd like to thank Brent, our guide, for a fun and filling food tour of Little Italy! It was a very enjoyable afternoon! We were met on time at the said meeting place and the tour ran smoothly without feeling rushed. A brief history of the area was given at each venue and all of the stops had a delicious sampling of food. I certainly plan on going back to all nine stops!

Fun Tour, great tour guide, but needs some work

First and foremost, we loved our guide Tia. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly and genuine. However, we expected a bit more. We started out at a great Italian food grocery store/deli that made panini, which was very good. One thing we noticed, and this seemed to recur is that no one from the place spoke to us. It's nice to hear Tia speak, but you kind of want the owner to tell you a store and present the food, versus the deli server. Next was a pasta place, which seemed a little too new to be authentic. One of our party didn't like the dish so a recommendation would be to serve two or three different bowls of pasta family style. The third place was a pizza place. While the person there did tell the store which was great, and the pizza was very good it was a chain store. Next was another food market. Again we were standing in a grocery aisle with server and tray of small bites. I would have liked to have an owner at the counter present all of the options and give us some tastes. But it was busy. We then went to two coffee places in a row which was odd. Next some excellent gelato. Then an odd grocery store that was home to an early ravioli maker but now an Asian couple runs it and just sells the ravioli. We got free pasta which we cooked later and was excellent. But the venue was very strange - it looked like a cheap convenience store, but with some nice products. Last but not least was Frankie's Bakery with excellent cannoli (cream filled not ricotta). I love food tours, but it's as much to interact with the restaurant owners/ store owners as it is the food itself. This also seemed like a bit of a forced tour. It didn't have the feel or history of other Little Italy's. I would definitely try another tour with this company but would go for something more traditional Vancouver, or in a cool area (this was really just one commercial street).

Thank you Jeffrey for you valuable review. You made some really good points and we appreciate your feed back. Many of our tour partners are very busy and they try to come and speak on the tours but are not always available so that is why our tour guides do the best possible job introducing each place. We like your suggestion on the various pastas so we will be looking into that. We are currently in the process to add some new tour partners so we will redesign the tour a bit. The neighbourhood history is shared on the tour, although may not contain as much history as other Little Italy neighbourhoods. We take all our tour guests' feedback seriously as it helps us improve! Hope to see you soon again on any of our other tours!

May not look much like Italy, but offers a lot of tastes of Italy....
Aug 2018
This Little Italy tour is located in an area of Vancouver that feels more like a League of Nations than it feels like being in Italy. Nonetheless, our tour guide, Brent, did a great job keeping our group focused on Italy's contributions as to why we were there and how best to link each food stop with an Italian story supported by an Italian family and how that family has kept its message of Italian heritage alive through the food it delivers to its customers today.
You will not be hungry when you finish tour either. From delicious panninies, pasta dishes, pizza, expresso over gelato, deli selections of great cheeses and meats, and finally, great cannoli pastries from a long established family bakery....you will certainly know what it means to eat Italian style when you finish your tour.
This tour is also a moderate walking level and paced well between stops. The only issue I think can happen is that with these food eateries being rather small in size family owned establishments, there can be a chance that you won't have a seat to sit in or table while eating.
Finally, this part of Vancouver, where your tour is located, may require more than just a little of imagination to see why this area continues to be called Little Italy.....
