Amazing Hiking Experience on a Glacier
This was an excellent experience located at the Columbia Ice fields. We were very pleased with our hike with Martin and were glad we opted for the tread lightly glacier hike over the other offerings (such as the bus ride) offered by the Ice fields itself. This was amazing and took about 4 hours to go up to the top of the first ice wall stopping at a few other experiences along the way. Dress in layers & bring water and you will have a great time! Highly recommend!

      Great!
Absolutely loved this experience! Our guide Sarah was so nice and helpful. She even took us nearly to the very top of the glacier! Would highly recommend to those who like hiking.

      Rockaboo Rocks!
Our guide Don was fantastic! He took us through a different path than the other glacier hikers which was much more interesting. He provided a lot of history about the glaciers and how they are changing. He had a lot of great stories! We had the whole glacier to ourselves for the majority of our hike. I highly recommend Rockaboo!

      Wonderful experience!
After reading different posts about the glacier, we decided to book with Rockaboo and were so happy we did! As we were hiking the glacier we got to see those giant "Ice Explorer" trucks - which was just a very long slow ride up and down a steep hill with a short glacier walk at the end. With Rockaboo, we were a group of 6 along with our guide, Don, who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We got to hike all the way in, out and around the glacier, learning so much as we did. And we got to experience glacier push-ups to drink the water! We would highly recommend this company.

      Fun and unique excursion
We had a great time on this guided hike on the Athabasca glacier. We were 8 people with one guide. The hike was quite strenuous, I would say you should be fairly fit to sign up for the 4 hour excursion, I think we clocked about 5 miles of walking, half of it uphill. We certainly saw formations in the glacier you would never see from the bus excursions, and we learned a lot about glaciers in the area. I would recommend without hesitation.

Great tour, but be prepared for a real workout
This was a tough call. We had a good time. The glacier was beautiful and our guides were great. However, we all agreed that the pace and exertion level of the tour was perhaps not as well advertised as it could have been. We were two fifty somethings and 4 twenty somethings, all in pretty good shape. The uphill pace never let up and our guides gave us very few breaks. Two or three extra five minute breaks for everyone to catch their breath would have gone a long way to making the tour more enjoyable.

First class - private climb for 3
We did a private climb (1 adult, 16, 13) with Francois/Frank as a guide. We went about 22km out of Jasper, followed by a 30 minute hike and then had a whole wall full of climbs available to us. We were the only climbers there all day. It was huge fun and there was a wide variety of difficulties and pitch heights. The area couldn’t have been much better and, given we were climbing in the summer, our early (7am) start meant were climbing in shadow most of the day. Overall I couldn’t give this a higher mark - a first class experience for a family climb. We left tired and fully satisfied!

      Bucket List Experience ✔️
Incredible experience! We had an amazing hike on the Athabasca Glacier. Rockaboo, and our guide Wayne, made this an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience for our family. Hands down the best thing we did on our Banff/Jasper trip.

Great for families with young kids
We had a large group with several young kids and older adults (including 4, 6, 8, 9 and 65 year olds) and we wanted to give them a unique experience of walking on the ice and acting like they were ice climbing. We did the private tour with Rockaboo and they did an awesome job of taking care of everything! Their office staff did an excellent job of answering any questions we had and letting us know where to show up. All we had to do was show up to their trailer in the icefields visitor center parking lot. There's plenty of car and RV parking, so parking was simple. We were a group of 14 and Rockaboo had 3 experienced guides help us. In their trailer, they were prepared with anything you might have forgotten (hats, gloves, sunglasses, etc.). We got fitted for our crampons, signed our life away in waivers, and were on our way. They have a large van that shuttled us over to the icefields parking lot across the street (it took 2 trips for our 14 people) and then we did a short hike up to the glacier. The guides did a good job of taking us on a route that most people don't walk on, so we felt away from all of the crowds. Along the way the guide did a good job of pointing out important geological features and facts about the glacier. The hike is a bit more than a leisurely stroll, so not advisable for anyone that can't walk a few km and a hundred meters of elevation difference. Once onto the ice, the kids were educated on all of the dangers and we hiked up to a perfect place for the kids to repel down the ice. It was a 5m deep ditch with walls too steep to walk up, but safe enough that you could slide down it and be ok. Perfect for the kids to act like they're ice climbing down the side. Rockaboo brought some adult harnesses of every size, helmets, ropes, and everything we needed for the kids and adults to rappel down the side and then they were pulled back up. Then, we walked back down the same way that we came up. All together, it was about 4 hours. We did have some issues with our tour. We had 5 young kids and Rockaboo only had 2 sets of kids size crampons. So, the other 3 kids' crampons kept falling off. For the ropes adventure, Rockaboo only had adult size harnesses. So, only the kids that were able to fit into the XS adult harness were able to rappel (2 of the 5). After we got back from the trip, I gave Rockaboo's office a call about these issues. They were extremely apologetic and gave us a refund for the 3 kids that had a less than excellent experience. She also assured me that they would make changes to ensure this doesn't happen to other families. Overall, I highly recommend this tour for families with young kids. It'll be an unforgettable experience for the kids. Its safe and enjoyable. When you call to make a reservation, just double check that they have a kids harness, kids helmet, and enough kids crampons for your tour.

      An amazing experience!
The experience was amazing! I appreciated our guide's advice on the perfect clothes and equipment to wear. He was nice and funny. The pace was slow so everyone could follow his steps. The fact that the company provides the equipment is a real bonus. We also had the choice of whether or not to climb in the crevasse, which we did and it was such an interesting experience! It was our first time on a glacier and we want to do it again!

      Stunning tour
It was a stunning, cloudless, sunny day when we had our tour booked well in advance and were greeted by a very welcoming Don and Greg at their spaceship caravan situated at the lower RV car park of Glacier View Lodge. As we were staying at the lodge and had some wonderful views directly to the glacier across the road, we were so excited to finally get to trek on this magnificent ice structure. After the necessary safety instructions and being kitted out with walking sticks, clamp on cleats and warm weather gear we headed off in the company van to the main car park where we proceeded to hike about 1km on the trail to the base of the glacier where we stopped for a snack and prepared our boots with our clampons. Don, our guide was extremely knowledgeable with the glacier and surrounds and was very safety orientated and conscientious. We loved his old man jokes and for 67 years old he had the mind and body of a 27 year old. He really made the tour special. After hiking on the glacier for over 2 hours we turned around to head back to where we started to find Greg eagerly waiting to bring us back. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and if you happen to jag Don as your guide you will have been extra lucky.

      Excellent tour!
This was a wonderful experience! Our guides Simon and Jack were very knowledgeable, friendly and fun to hang out with for the afternoon. We saw some spectacular sites and learned a great deal about the glacier.

      Immersive Glacier Experience
The picture is a bit misleading as we were not able to repel and that was kind of the reason we booked. Not their fault as it was too early in the season, but it would have impacted our decision had we known that. Glacier is amazing and the guide (Simon) was first class. Super knowledgeable and genuinely loved his job. We didn’t make it to the icefall but we got pretty close. Also they ask you to do an online waiver which takes time for a family of four. Only to find out we had to do it in paper anyways. Overall worth the experience and a way better choice than taking those buses as you really get a unique experience.

We did a family outing (3 climbers and a spectator) on Aug. 6 with Luis as our guide for the half day Rock Climbing Experience at Morro Slabs. There was one other "new friend" for a total of 4 climbers of various experience levels. Luis was friendly, thorough, professional, and safe, and once he determined everyone's level of experience and did the safety briefing, got us climbing as quickly as possible, there was no wasted time at all. We had all the climbing we wanted, and he set up different routes of varying difficulties. This trip is suitable for beginners and up. I highly recommend Rockaboo and Luis.

I signed up for this with my 8yr old son last minute. A 4hr total excursion time from Jasper to the climbing area at Morro Slabs a short distance away made for a good morning out. Luis, our climbing guide, was friendly, engaging and informative and expertly taught new climbers the basics of abseiling, belaying and climbing, whilst also accommodating climbers in the group with a little more experience. The group of 6 that we were in all obviously had a great time. I would have no hesitation in going again or in signing up for the rock climbing fundamentals courses in future.

Just spent a fabulous couple of weekends with Rockaboo’s Rock Climbing Fundamentals 1 and 2! I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to learn how to climb.

Our instructors, Francois and Brooklyn, were a great team - fun, patient, knowledgeable and well prepared. I felt encouraged and supported the whole way through. Information was very well presented and opportunity was given to practice each new skill. I appreciated the emphasis on safety that was a major part of both courses.

I took the rock climbing fundamentals course 1 and 2. I found the instruction to be excellent. It gave me the confidence to build anchors and lead climb multi-pitch routes. The ACMG instructor was chill and cool, exactly what you need to feel safe climbing as a novice. Also, open to answering any questions and making sure you get a great experience safely.

My children (18 and 15) on this vacation, absolutely enjoyed their climbing experience with this company. They both had some indoor climbing experience and were excited to try outdoors. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and was a fabulous teacher! My husband and I enjoyed watching and photographing our children. Thank for this unforgettable experience!
